The student learned a great deal from their preliminary magazine task to their full product. For the preliminary task, they had no knowledge of magazine forms and conventions and simply based it on a student questionnaire. However, for the full product they researched magazines and gained a better understanding of fonts, positioning, color schemes, and photography. The student also improved their Photoshop skills in editing images and using layers, which helped make their full product look more professional. Overall, the key learning was gaining knowledge of magazine conventions, improving design skills in Photoshop, and applying research of real magazines to structure their own product in a more appealing way.
