Today was the most special day ever. A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. - 1. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you'll you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? As Media Evaluation Question 7
- 2. Preliminary Task 1 Music Magazine Front Cover
- 3. Looking back t the preliminary task, I feel that I have improved in many aspects; although I at the start I struggled with including the codes and conventions onto my own magazine. I struggled to edit certain pictures because of the background in which I took the images in made it difficult for me to edit the images and choose an appropriate background. I had to use a solid colour; which didn’t always go well with the main image and sometimes looked very plain and boring and unrealistic.
- 4. I also learnt how use Photoshop properly; even though I used Photoshop in my preliminary task I was very tentative and was not very creative or adventurous with Photoshop. You can tell with my final product I was more comfortable and adventurous with the tools I used which made the entire product look more realistic and professional.
- 5. Conclusion Overall I believe that there is a significant improvement from my preliminary tasks due to the fact I learnt how to use Photoshop more effectively which gave my final product a professional look.
