All Hail Macbeth in Shakespeare s Play
All hail Macbeth
One first learns of Macbeth through the eyes of a wounded captain, reporting on what has happened
on the battlefield. Macbeth is portrayed foremost as a couragious warrior, who has fought well and
won for his king and country.
It makes it seem as if Macbeth is a man with a good character.
However, the events during the play causes this reasonably good man to become a tyrant, whose sole
name blisters our tongues
At the beginning of the play, becoming the next king of Scotland has never even entered the mind of
Macbeth. The ambitious character he is portrayed as does not come out until later in the play, after the
all important event of the prophecy of the witches.
This prophecy changes everything for Macbeth and dictates the entire play.
The prophecy says speaks of Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter , as well as the next thane of
Cawdor. Soon after he has heard the prophecy, he finds out that he is indeed been named the new
thane of Cawdor.
Macbeth, who at first did not really believe the prophecy, is now forced to reconsider. If one part of
the prophecy is right, could the other parts of it come true as well?
The prophecy is the first event of many on his road to becoming a tyrant.
It forces the vaulting ambition to come out. Without the prophecy, that trait might have stayed in the
background.
However, even after being named thane of Cawdor, Macbeth remains uncertain about what to do next.
He writes about the events to his wife

Aerobic Respiration
Hypothesis: If test tubes 2 5 with different amounts of succinate are tested to see which one has the
highest transmittance, then test tube 4 with additional succinate should have the highest transmittance
and have the fastest rate of reaction. If test tubes 1 5 of sugar yeast mixtures are placed in different
incubation temperatures, (0 ͦ, 30 ͦ , 45 ͦ, 60 ͦ, and 100 ͦ C) then test tube 3 placed in an incubation
temperature of 45 ͦ will produced the most CO2, therefore ferment the most.
If 6 different sugar solutions were combined with yeast to create a mixture, then the test tube with
Lactose and Lactaid will ferment the most at an incubation temperature of 45 C ͦ.
Introduction:
Glucose sugar has to break down to make pyruvate, which is further broken down in the presence of
oxygen or without oxygen. Aerobic respiration is a reaction that occurs in the presence of oxygen. It is
very effective at producing 36 38 molecules of ATP after the whole reaction. Glucose molecules break

In fermentation, NADH is oxidized to drive the reaction of fermentation to produce ethanol from
acetylaldehyde . As byproducts, two molecules of ethanol, CO2, and ATP are produced. CO2 is a
byproduct from the fermentation of yeast, which we can measure. We tested the effects of different
incubation temperatures and alternative carbohydrate sources. For the alternative carbohydrate
sources, we looked at the effects of different types of Carbohydrates on the volume of CO2 produced.
We tested 10% solutions of Galactose a monosaccharide, Sucrose a disaccharide, fructose a
monosaccharide, maltose a disaccharide, lactose a disaccharide, and lactose lactaid disaccharide and
its corresponding enzyme. Some of these carbohydrate sources have enzymes that can break them
down readily, therefore glycolysis and fermentation can occur (Lombard, Terry, Malinoski

Carnivore Leadership Case Study
CMSgt Ramon Colon Lopez also displays ethical leadership and critical thinking through the use of
ethical codes and intellectual integrity. In Carnivore Leadership, he uses the Little Blue Book ,
otherwise known as AFI 1 1, to establish ethical behaviors and positively affect the organizational
climate in the unit through the use of ethical codes. Chief Colon Lopez (2013) notes, Many personnel
have a fogged lens and we must help them see the problem they are failing to engage (p. 2). He asks
leaders to dive into AFI 1 1 and look into dress appearance, physical fitness, and military image in
order to clear the fogged lens and better guide us. As leaders we need to look into the rules and

He asks us to use ethical codes to guide us into establishing a positive organizational climate. Ethical
leadership states, ethical codes are intended to be central guides and references for users in support of
day to day decision making...they re meant to clarify an organization s mission, values and principles,
linking them with standards of professional conduct (BCEE, 2017c, p. 4). Ethical codes help guide us
in facing ethical dilemmas. Some of these codes encompass Air Force Instructions otherwise known as
AFI s. One example of these guides is AFI 1 1, which the Chief instructs us to adhere to in order to tip
the scale of an organization to the right. Within AFI 1 1 it gives us clear and concise lines that instruct
members of an organization on how to operate herein. Chief Colon Lopez is using these ethical codes
in order to positively affect and improve the organizational climate. In his excerpt, Chief Colon also

Descartes Mind And The Body
Descartes argues for mind body dualism in his Meditations on First Philosophy and Discourse on
Method. Descartes s arguments attempt to prove that the mind and the body are two distinct
substances. He argues that human existence is solely based on thought and not the existence of a
physical body. He also shows the difference between the mind and body by identifying them as
extended and non extended things. His arguments give rise to the philosophical problems of how we
can come to know other people s minds and how we can be sure if animals have minds. Descartes
solves these problems by establishing clear and distinct ideas from mental inspection cannot be false
because God is not a deceiver and that language and adaptability prove intelligence making the minds
of animals different than the minds of humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this he will only know things he is certain of. The basis of doubt is how Descartes finds his
first principle of philosophy, I think, therefore I am (Method 18). Descartes deduces that the fact that
he is able to doubt that he doesn t have a body actually proves his existence because this doubt
requires thought, I was a substance the whole essence or nature of which is simply to think, and
which, in order to exist, has no need of any place nor depends on any material thing. (Method 18 19).
This proves that the only thing that he can be sure of his existence is that it involves thought and that
he can t be sure it s physical because it could be based on a lie or

The Struggle Of Women s Participation
If you are reading this, quite possibly as a woman, your rights may not be what the women who went
before you fought so hard to achieve. As I write to tell you the areas of achievement, please
understand that cultural drift sometimes took a long time to come about given our patriarchal society
with values of tradition, order and obedience. Until the end of the 19th century almost all women
would not have thought about challenging societal norms. You will see that newer values develop in
women around freedom, independence and ambition to have an equal say about their world and their
bodies. Some fights would be won and others are still in progress; these are all very important history
lessons that will help you learn how women became able to participate fully in society, no longer a
man s world without women s participation. I will explain just a few of the courageous women and
their tactics and strategies for achieving an egalitarian society where women have equal opportunities
in the realm of voting rights, education, work and birth control. No fight is won alone, each woman
was joined by others who helped including some open minded men. Women were given the right to
vote in 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed. This was the end to a long
battle that lasted over 70 years. Two brave women Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucrecia Mott, both
longtime abolitionists, organized the first meeting in 1848 to discuss women s issues in New York. At

Essay on The Success of the McDonald’s Franchise
Not having to answer to a corporate boss is the dream of many and the flexibility that owning a
business franchise creates provides this option. Success is not reached by simply creating a business,
however. The level of success is measured by the size and efficiency of the business. Business growth
is the driving force of the economy. The additional jobs and revenues created when a business expands
allow the economy to grow at exponential rates. One of the fastest and most popular ways to increase
the size of a business is to turn it into a franchise, which can then be purchased by individuals.
Franchising provides opportunities that are beneficial to both the parent company and the purchaser.
The company that owns the business can expand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McDonald s has extremely strict rules when it comes to awarding franchises. First, it is very costly to
open a new location or purchase an existing location, with the median startup cost being $300,000
(Kalnins Lafontaine, 2004, p. 750). As well, the company does an extensive background check on a
variety of issues including credit history, business management experience, and the acceptance of the
contractual agreement that the company provides. Because of these strict rules and the large amount of
capital needed to purchase a location, rates for franchise applicants are 1% for McDonald s (Norton,
1988, p. 204). This is an extremely low acceptance rate and is even lower than McDonald s chief
competitor, Burger King, who accepts 1.5% percent of applicants (Norton, 1988, p. 199). These low
numbers are understandable in the context of the business and risk that is involved. Though the
franchise purchaser must pay a large amount of money to gain the rights to the restaurant, they truly
have nothing to lose besides money because they are simply running another company s business
model as well as using their trademarks and logos. McDonald s on the other hand, has a great amount
at stake because they place the well being of an entire restaurant into the caretaking of an individual
who simply purchased the rights for the store. If the store does poorly or if there are issues with
customer service, it reflects

The Evolution Of The Spacecraft
The Evolution of the Spacecraft When I first looked back at the Earth, standing on the Moon, I cried.
explained Alan Shepard when asked about his experience on the moon in February 1971 (8). Space
travel had humble beginnings with the first object reaching space orbit in the late 1950s. Technology
improved such that a rocket could be sent to the moon. Studying space teaches us about our universe
and our own planet. The space craft that scientist predict in the future will travel further into the
unknowns of space. In this research paper I will outline the history, the benefits, the present state, and
the future of space travel.
The construction of the first spacecraft was in a chaotic period known as the Cold War. The Cold War
was a war that started after of World War 2 with high tensions between the capitalist United States and
the communist Soviet Union. There were no shots fired between the two countries, however threats of
nuclear warfare still lingered (3). During the Cold War science and technology grew into a major
source of national pride.
The Soviet Union made incredible advances during the Space Race . The Soviet Union made their first
artificial satellite, Sputnik 1. Sputnik 1 orbited the Earth for 21 days before burning up in the
atmosphere in October 1957. The United States quickly fired a satellite about one fourth of the size of
the Sputnik 1, the Navy Vanguard, up into the atmosphere. Unfortunately the Navy Vanguard only

out in what area kids with ADHD suffer from.
Results:
Results from the studies showed that children that have ADHD have difficulties in social relationships.
Children with ADHD are turned away by their peers, more than children without ADHD. Studies to
assess social impairments in children with ADHD were done using peer ratings. Which rated the
quality and number of friendships, measured the children s ability of problem solving skills and self
control. Teacher and parent ratings of children s social ability were also used to measure social
impairments. The data indicated that children with ADHD are more probable to bully others or to be a
victim of bullying. In addition, children with ADHD are inclined to be aggressive or passive, yet both
turned away by their peers. Furthermore, children who were diagnosed with ADHD at the ages of 4 6
continued to show social deficits as they got older too.
Studies showed significant social and academic impairment for children with ADHD as opposed to the
children without ADHD. Children with ADHD scored remarkably lower on teacher rating scale, in

The Fall By Albert Camus
Albert Camus s absurdist novel The Fall deals with many overarching themes: justice, guilt, judgment,
freedom, and power. One of the more understated themes is that of punishment, as Jean Baptiste
Clamence is never formally punished. And yet, though the law does not condemn him, he still finds
himself plagued by guilt and fear of judgment even after he claims to have found a solution. Camus
shows, through symbolism and Clamence s own narration, that the lack of punishment is a burden for
Clamence in his supposedly happy life. While speaking to his companion of his new lifestyle in
Amsterdam, Jean Baptiste Clamence proclaims that he has discovered the secrets of the good life
(Camus 144). He even insists, repeatedly, that he is happy, happy unto death (144). And yet Camus
sprinkles hints all over the pages that this is not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Water is inextricably tied to his guilt: the suicidal woman he fails to save drowns in a canal (70), and it
is from the water that he first hears the condemning laughter (39). Before he ever mentions the woman
Clamence didn t save, Camus connects water with death, as Clamence comments on the breath of
stagnant waters, the smell of dead leaves soaking in the canal and the funereal scent rising from the
barges loaded with flowers (43). The water represents his guilt and his crimes, and yet, rather than
escaping it, Clamence moves to a city of canals where he is constantly surrounded by water. This is
not because the water doesn t affect him any longer; on the contrary, he still fears to cross bridges at
night (15) and he admits that he forces himself to admire the canals (43). He outright acknowledges
that the cry of the suicidal woman would continue to await me on seas and rivers, everywhere, in
short, where lies the bitter waters of my baptism (108). Thus, in surrounding himself by water,
Clamence is sure never to be free of the torment of his

Benefits Of Farina
Meta description: What is Farina exactly? This is the common question asked by people thinking
about their diet. In this article, we explain the nutritional benefits of Farina and why it is healthy for
us.
What is Farina? The Healthier Version of Cereals
First, what is Farina? Farina is milled grains of cereal, most typically wheat. Farina is a Latin word
which means meal or flour. It comes from the inner portion of wheat kernels and is said to be the germ
and endosperm of the grain. The grains are crushed into a fine granular consistency and then filtered.
Farina has a very bland taste, which makes it adaptable to a variety of toppings when eaten as a hot
cereal, the classic preparation. Because it has been finely ground, it can be cooked quickly, which also
makes it a popular choice for hot cereal. Due to its mild taste, the cooked cereal is typically flavored
with brown sugar, honey, fruits, maple syrup, butter, chocolate, salt, jams, and cinnamon, or
sometimes several of these toppings combined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is sometimes white in color, which means it must be processed. Therefore, when buying this type of
Farina, you should check the source as well read the ingredients. Farina can part of the wheat flour
used in baked goods. Given the grain s strong protein value, so when used in this way it enhances the
food s nutritional qualities.
What nutritional qualities is Farina rich in?
Farina is a highly rich source of carbohydrates. If the wheat has been enriched, it becomes the best
food source for nutritional iron. This is especially important for vegetarian diets, with some brands
providing as much as 50% of the recommended daily amount with a single 120 calorie serving. Unlike
commercial cereals, the fiber and best part of the germ are separated, and the germ is sometimes
enriched with Vitamin B and

Kant Judgement
In The Critique of Judgment by Immanuel Kant, Kant describes to readers what makes a judgment of
taste valid. To be specific, Kant says that one must be disinterested in an object in order to truly find
the object beautiful. This can be seen in his quote: One must not be in the least prepossessed in favour
of the thing, but must preserve complete indifference in this respect, in order to play the part of judge
in matters of taste (Cahn and Meskin 132). To Kant, disinterest means that the person who is judging
the object is not interested in neither the existence or the destruction of the object. To illustrate,
someone who has made a painting that they are going to sell; may find their own creation beautiful.
However, their judgement is not

An Organization s Culture And Principles Of The Organization
An organization is determined by its value and behaviors that subsidize to the exclusive culture and
principles environment of the organization, which includes the organization s philosophy,
expectations, practices, and norms that hold the structure together and expresses the society s image
with internal relationship, external influences, and future planning. At the same time, rules, beliefs,
attitudes, and customs have been developed over periods and become the shared culture within the
organization that illustrate in the ways of conducting issues, how they treat employees, consumers,
and the community.
Today, unlike ever occurred before, public sectors are facing tremendous pressure to adapt to
significant changes from the external environment (Valle, 1999). Furthermore, such environment
influence decision making, personal expression, sharing information, or productivity performance.
Therefore, control an organization s culture is one of the difficult challenges for public sectors. Not
only for carrying out practice, but also to the leadership comprising an interlocking set of objectives,
roles, practices, values, communications channels, and customs. The components link together as a
reinforcing program and associate to prevent unexpected modifications. Valle put forward that
administrators in public sector must assist their employees to recognize these environmental
fluctuations and the need for their adaptation. Undeniably, failure to modify the culture of public

Assessment of Acer s Divide and Conquer Strategy
Assessment of Acer s Strategies Introduction Acer s dominance as a global manufacturer of IT
hardware products can be attributed to the company s extensive electronics component expertise,
depth of experience managing global electronics component supply chains, and well planned
acquisitions. Through a series of successful acquisitions, the company has four successful brands
including Acer, eMachines, Gateway and Packard Bell (DiDominico, Kartika, Sibeck, 1996). Of these
three strategic areas that Acer excels in, their logistics and supply chain expertise across each of the
geographies they compete in continue to deliver the greatest time to market and cost gains (Honi,
Taring, Po Young, 2000). Acer is organized into two segments, the device business group and
consolidated products and services or other business group. This second group continues to be
instrumental in the success of the divide and conquer strategies that Acer is successfully using relative
to Lenovo. It is also a critical success factors in their success with global markets and local market
competitive strategy. The combination of their depth of expertise with electronic components and
supply chain prowess in the high technology industry also give the company a formidable competitive
advantage against Dell and the troubled PC marker Hewlett Packard (Honi, Taring, Po Young, 2000).
Despite all these strengths however, Acer continues to struggle with the areas of consumer branding

Effects Of Abnormal Profits On The Long Run Essay
2. Abnormal Profits in the Long Run
Normal Profit occurs when the average revenue is equal to the average total cost. Abnormal profit is
therefore defined as extra profit above normal profit. In the long run, oligopolies make abnormal
profits, due to the assumption of high barriers to entry. When firms in an industry seem to be making
abnormal profit, it may attract new entrants into the market; causing an increase in supply and
therefore a decrease in price leading to normal profits. However since there are high barriers to entry
in an oligopolistic market, an influx of new firms into the market is highly unlikely, therefore
abnormal profits are sustained in the long run.
Diagram 2.0
3. Non Price Competition
As previously discussed, price stickiness is one of the implications under the assumptions of the
oligopoly model. Since changing price will generally result in the loss of profits and market share;
firms compete using non price related strategies. One of these methods includes product improvement.
If firms improve the quality of the product or implement characteristics that their targeted
demographic enjoy, they can charge more for the product or attract a greater consumer base. Firms
operating in an oligopolistic firm also invest largely in marketing of their product. Raising awareness
regarding the product will encourage more sales if advertisements appeal to audience. Branding and
consumer loyalty is an artificial barrier to entry and a

Importance Of Sequence Specific Primer PCR
Sequence specific primer PCR
With the advancement of sequencing technology, vast information on DNA sequences of many animal
genomes has been developed (Goff et al. 2002; Yu et al. 2002). In order to correlate DNA sequence
information with particular a phenotype of a trait, sequence specific molecular marker techniques have
been designed. Expressed sequence tags (EST) analysis is one such type. By adopting this method,
Expressed sequence tags of many animal species have been created and these sequences are subjected
as putative functional genes by using advanced bioinformatics tools.

markers because polymorphism exists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They usually exhibit simple Mendelian inheritance and codominant expression, making genetic
interpretations easy. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies due to
null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required (Hillis et
al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level, reducing the
level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the encoded
polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility of the
protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations caused by
mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein compositions, and are
resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). However, other
limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling (only genes encoding well
documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers, insufficient for examining
major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or ontogenetic stages; and
difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to laboratory (DeYoung and
Honeycutt, 2005). Low levels of genetic variation revealed in many allozyme studies of animal
populations prompted a continued search for markers with greater genetic resolution.

the Palestinians who live together with Israelis that has led to terrorism and tyranny. Israelis believe
they must control the Palestinians to stop their terrorism; while the Palestinians use terrorism to seek

Essay about Root Surface Caries
Root Surface Caries
Caries can affect any surface of the teeth. The most commonly seen caries are found on the crown of a
tooth, above the cemento enamel junction, it is also possible for caries to form on the root surface,
below the cemento enamel junction. Dental root caries has received a great deal of attention in the past
few decades. A variety of different patients are at risk for root surface caries. Dentists use several
methods of treatment.
Root surface caries are also called cemental caries, cervical caries, or radicular caries. (Wilkins) Root
surface caries only involves the roots of teeth. The cementum and dentin located just below the crown
of the tooth is involved. No involvement of enamel is seen with root surface caries. ... Show more

This process is enhanced with the presence of gingival recession.(Hammel)
Clinically, root caries appears as a soft, irregularly shaped lesion, either totally confined to the root
surface or also involving the enamel at the cemento enamel junction. (Flaitz) It is more easily detected
on exposed root surfaces. It has been found that 10% to 20% of root caries lesions are found
subgingivally, especially at the interproximal region. The most common locations also include
exposed roots of the mandibular premolar and molar areas. On a dental radiograph, root surface caries
appears as a cupped out or crater shaped radiolucency just below the cemento enamel junction. Early
lesions may be difficult to detect on a dental radiograph.(Hassan)
Clinical description is very subjective and is based on color, texture, surface smoothness, depth of the
lesion, and distinctiveness of its border. Root caries can be classified as active or inactive. Active
lesions are leathery or soft, and inactive or arrested lesions are hard upon touch with an explorer. Root
caries can vary in color from black or dark brown to yellowish or light brown.(Wilkins)
Measures that can be taken to prevent root surface caries are just as one would perform to prevent
coronal caries. Oral hygiene is most important. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after
each meal. Floss your teeth regularly to remove food particles between your teeth that cannot be
removed by ordinary brushing. Because you

The Effect Of Speed Pressure On Working Memory During...
Abstract
This study examined the effects of speed pressure on working memory during mental arithmetic tasks.
392 undergraduate students working memory capacities were measured and participants were divided
into high and low working memory groups. They were then randomly assigned into the fast or slow
condition and tested with the critical stimuli compromised of addition equations. The findings showed
that fast conditions result in higher error rates than the slow conditions. The speed pressure also
caused high working memory individuals to shift from using rule based processing to associative
processing whereas low working memory individuals used associative processing in both conditions.
However, the study found that both groups show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2006; Beilock DeCaro, 2007) have examined choking under pressure and concluded that it occurs for
those with high working memory (HWM) capacities whereas low working memory (LWM)

examined different factors contributing towards pressure induced failure, in an attempt to explain the
phenomena and most accurately coincide with real life situations.
According to Beilock et al., (2004), explicit monitoring and the Distraction Theory are reasons as to
why skills may fail under pressure. Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of
automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer performance
despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction Theory claims
that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task content which in
consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for execution (Beilock et al.,
2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for explicit monitoring and its
effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not been adequately

They could have made thousands by selling the album on iTunes, physical copies, vinyls etc. And plus

the answer is simple, perhaps too simple but refreshing. And that s because with Surf, they weren t
looking for money. As you may remember, Chance announced the album back late last fall and said
that it would be released before the end of 2014. Some may have been irritated at Chance for not

Anxiety By Kierkegaard Essay
Introduction The Concept of Anxiety is one of Kierkegaard s major works. It summarizes and
anticipates themes that are developed in his other works. Even though Kierkegaard s treasure on
anxiety is not a readable material, that shines though the book is that anxiety is linked to love in the
case of positively and also in the context of negative. A being in anxiety can close himself up within
himself, but in anxiety he can also become aware of himself in such a way that he sees the relationship
between himself and other human being. It is in this regard that anxiety, in Kafka s words, can become
an anxiety for the greatest as well as for the smallest , and also he added this with this word that, this
Anxiety is perhaps not only anxiety, but also a longing for something that is more than anything

different angles, including the analytical, existential, theological, linguistic and deconstructive

The Effect Of Pesticides On Honeybee Health
With concerns about a falling honeybee population, some homeowners are worried that mosquito
control measures will also harm pollinators. In a study by the Department of Entomology at Louisiana
State University, researchers found that mosquito control has minimal effects on honeybee health. As
long as pesticides are used properly, pollinators will not be affected.
Beekeepers and Scientists Join Forces
For the study, local beekeepers worked with researchers at Louisiana University and the United States
Department of Agriculture. Parts of the study were conducted in the field and in the laboratory.
Researchers used the insecticides commonly used against mosquitoes to find out what level of the
insecticides would become toxic. Field tests were done through a truck spraying fields with mosquito
repellent. Cages of bees and mosquitoes were placed in the fields at different distances to see the
effect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While mosquitoes come out in the evening, bees tend to stay within their hives at night. This ensures
that the right insects are killed, and bees are unaffected. The cooler temperature of the evening also
ensures that the pesticide stays near the ground where it will have the highest effect. Once the
pesticide is sprayed, it has all night to decompose before pollinators begin to fly again.

Personality Stability and Change in Trait Theories of...
The evaluation of personality stability and change across the life span is largely determined by
theoretical beliefs. While some scholars have a more deterministic viewpoint and consider human
personality as fairly predictable and stable over time (e.g. biogenetic determinism), other theorists
view personality as fluid and highly malleable (e.g. behaviorism). The intermediate stance assumes a
bidirectional relationship between heredity and environment, which allows for both consistency and
change in personality. Moreover, some theorists introduce a third element to a biosocial model the

Don Juan). Allport used an idiographic approach that emphasized uniqueness of individuals,
evaluating categories of values within a person, instead of across groups. This approach reduces
researchers bias as the study is focused on investigation of traits presented in each individual, rather
than a theorized central trait (Burger, 2010). Allport was influential in conceptualizing of personality,
but his trait model is rather philosophical than scientific. Falsification of his hypothesis and
organization of psychological data under his theory is difficult, and, consequently, measurement of
personality stability or change is problematic. Contrary to Allport, personality analysis of Eysenck was
nomothetic in nature, with strong emphases on biological foundations of traits. To construct and
explain personality he used typical for the natural sciences approach that support generalization.
Through statistical evaluation Eysenck established two main bipolar dimensions of personality, which
he called supertraits extraversion/introversion (E) and neuroticism/stability (N). Later, he added
another dimension, psychoticism/superego functioning (P), which maintained less defined. According
to Eysenck, psychological disorders are found at the extremes of personalities, where neuroticism
determines predisposition to anxiety, hysteria, depression, and obsessive compulsive tendencies.

The Genre Of Cult Film
The area of study to be explored is genre and my investigation will look into ways we are able to
clarify the vast genre of cult film. Speculated by theorists such as Sconce, Jancovich and many others,
cult film is one of the most diverse and ambiguous genres of the past 60 years in motion picture
history. Beginning in the 1950s with unconventional flicks like Plan 9 from Outer Space and The
Blob, cult film as a quasi genre began to not only reject one set of stylistic conventions, but also
started to expand into various sub genres that it could umbrella . Highlighted by Sconce in his study,
[cult film] would include entries from disparate sub genres such as bad films ...and just about every
other manifestation of exploitation cinema ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, those who construct and encode ideologies and messages into cult films need to
know and implement a repertoire of elements that will go against the pleasures of recognition and
provide a more sophisticated and untraditional narrative experience. Whether through manipulating
time and space, or providing powerful subject matter, it is through these technical and visual codes
that the text will continuously challenge audience expectation and draw a preferred or oppositional
reading to the weird and wonderful it tries to represent. As argued by Thornton, it is not defined
according to some single, unifying feature shared by all cult movies, but rather through a sub cultural
ideology in filmmakers, films or audiences are seen as existing in opposition to the mainstream.
Therefore, the audience appeal for cult film is not only through its quirky and abnormal generic
values, but also through the plurality of artistic control that is held by the auteur and its audience s
desires. In order to go into more extensive detail, I have selected Nicolas Winding Refn s Drive and
David Fincher s Fight Club two contrasting texts with diverse ideologies and technical codes yet both

History of the Electric Vehicle Essay examples
History of the Electric Vehicle
The History of Development:
In general the automobile was invented to transport people. Horses were the main mode of
transportation and a self powered vehicle seemed to offer many benefits. We have looked at the
automobile history and seen how this innovation occurred. The United States in the 19th century had
been developing a very successful metal working industry, which included firearms, sewing machines
and machine tools. Not only did this push technology ahead but it also created demand products of a
complex technical nature. This technology is what leads to the production of the automobile. The
electric car for many years followed the same format that the internal combustion automobile went ...

Such railcars were a major accomplishment but it would be another thirty years before the next giant
leap forward. In 1888 electric cars began to appear in the United States and abroad as a spillover from
the previous technology. The most successful car was built by William Morrison of Des Moines, Iowa
and could run for thirteen consecutive hours at a speed of fourteen miles per hour. However, much of
the success of this was due to the promotional work from Harold Sturges, secretary of the American
Battery Company. This theme would develop over and over again in the life of all alternative fuel
systems where success came not from actual integrity, but from force from an outside source.
For the next couple years electric cars seemed like they represented the future of travel. They were
adopted by the postal service and companies began to profit from their production. General Electric
began to produce cars in 1898 and achieved a land speed record for a car that went 39.25 miles per
hour, a speed that gas powered cars could not come close to beating. At this point the market for
electric cars was big enough were a couple of firms were successful. Due to the level of competition
between these firms technological advance gained speed because companies were trying to separate
their product from the others. Through the turn of the century electric car manufactures kept beating
each other s speeds and raising the bar for electric technology. By 1902 the speed record

Reflection On Professional Development
In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through
reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics
discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and
management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the
impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional
development.
Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences
(Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional
development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within
practice (Freire, 1972).
Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with
progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them
(Dyer and Taylor, 2012).
Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a
framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön
(2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it
involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the
decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking
over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it
happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the
only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield
(1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue.
I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am
doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to
not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my
professional development.

Depictions Of Women During The Golden Ass
I will argue that the depictions of women in The Golden Ass seem to reinforce the gender stereotype
of women to be lustful and manipulative nymphomaniacs because of the qualities of several female

The woman from Corinth, who Lucius sleeps with, The wife from the story, the lover, and the jar, and

reinforce the gender stereotype. Next I will analyze the wife from the story: the lady and the jar, and
how her qualities connect to the stereotype of women. Then, I will analyze the characteristics of Photis
and how her qualities support the gender stereotype. Once I have established the distinct stereotypes
present in these women the position that The Golden Ass reinforces stereotypes can be taken because
it will be understood that the majority of women share their respective qualities and therefore live
within the boundaries of their stereotype. Finally, I will refute the opposition to my claim. Perhaps the
most compelling support of the racy female stereotype is the depicted actions of the lady of Corinth
who made love to Lucius. Her embodiment of the female stereotype is important because it reinforces
the commonality of these traits and therefore the validation of the gender stereotype. This character is
lustful because she is greedy in her actions. When telling his story, Lucius

Athletic Training Program Application Essay
I believe that I am the perfect candidate for Newton High School s Athletic Training Program because
I am a tactful, respectful, and responsible person. I am dedicated individual never stopping until a task
is completed. Also, I have a big heart and am passionate about helping others no matter what they look
like, who they are, and will be there to assist no matter what. I am consistent and I stay on track with
my studies never allowing myself to fail. This program would also be beneficial to me because when I
go to college I hope to be an Athletic Trainer and I am interested in the field of Forensics Science.
Growing up, I took every opportunity given to me to help those around me. I aided the homeless at the
early age of 8 alongside my mom. Helping boost homeless women and children self esteem by
participating in clothing, food, and school supply giveaways. Beginning at the age of 13, during
Sunday services I would watch the younger kids in the nursery changing their diapers, entertain,
making sure that they were safe and well taken care of. I also have volunteered at the libraries in the
Newton County area efficiently shelving books. Although it wasn t required of me, I even helped
those who needed to locate books for checkout. One thing anyone who worked alongside me could tell
you, was that I had the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Questioning the Normal American Family in American Beauty
American Beauty, released in 1999, was a tragic comedy, created by Sam Mendes. The movie had
audiences questioning the ideal American family. You see the usual midlife crisis that most people go
through but watching further uncovers a deeper conflict of feeling oppressed with what society
considers a normal life. The movie has many connecting themes through plot, characterization, and
cinematography and these themes carry well throughout the movie. The main themes are listed
accordingly, appearance versus reality, loneliness versus feeling connected, denial and repression, and
beauty.
A theme that is consistent throughout the movie is of empty promises of materialism. From afar the
Burnhams seem to have the American Dream: a nice house in the suburbs, children, cars and good
jobs. The Art Culture Film website describes them as trapped by the ideology of the American Dream
(Structural 1). Carolyn Burnham unnaturally obsessed with materialism and other s opinions of them
(Newman 8). She has an obsession with her material items that she owns and to her they equal
success. Mendes shows us a scene where Lester is trying to show passion by kissing Carolyn on the
couch but all Carolyn could worry about was the beer almost spilling on the couch. Lester, frustrated,
yells, It s just a couch! to which she replies that it is not just a couch, but one that cost $4,000 and is
upholstered in Italian silk. In another scene where Carolyn fights with her daughter, she yells at Jane

Structural Functionalism And Family Analysis
Structural Functionalism is a theory in sociology which states that each part of society is necessary for
the functioning of the social organism. There are several elements in the functionalist paradigm which
explain how society functions in order to maintain the social organism and keep it alive. These
elements of functionalisms are cohesion, integration, solidarity, and equilibrium. These elements
explain how society is divided into different functional parts, with each part depending on the next
adding up to the structural whole of society. Under the structural functional paradigm we see the
family structure which is viewed as a small social group which is related by blood Ancestor or
affection. Sharing common goals and values, they may live together and are involved in child rearing

The family is viewed mainly as the nuclear family as in mother, father, and children although the
family structure had changed over time with the extended family, single parent families and on word.
The family structure s main functions are reproduction, education, and the economy. Without these
functions society on a whole would not exist. In the case of education we place women in the role of
raising, nurturing, and educating the children with in the home instilling values and norms while the
father figure took on the role of being the financial provider, and providing security for the family. The
family structure plays a very important role as through reproduction the replace members, who have
dies, Socialization where they educate children on norms and values and how to carry themselves out
in society as functional individuals providing emotional, psychological and physical care for family
members. If these needs are not met within the family structure according the structural functional
theory the family is said to be dysfunctional. The Family is our back bone it is the foundation of how
we as individuals will go

Arguement For Rewarding Human Organs
Many people believe that they should be rewarded for saving another person s life by donating an
organ for them, claiming that they had a choice, so they should be praised for making the right
decision to give it away! Well, if that s true, then we should be rewarded for picking up garbage that
we dropped, or washing our hands after we use the restroom. People aren t ordinarily rewarded, or
praised, for something we are already expected to do. But, that is what is expected to happen when
donating organs. Organ donation is the process of removing tissues along with organs from a human
body for the purposes of transplanting. In many countries, the patients in need of organs have to pay
the donor for the organ. The sale of human organs should

Reflection Paper On My Life
Reflections on My Life
When I examine my life, I like to reflect on two facets of religion and mathematics. In the book Hugs
for Grads , Jeff Walling advised the graduates, The simple basics of life love, faith, and hope are all
we really need. We can t undo all the world s wrongs, but we can affect the corner of the world we live
in if we ll just stick to the basics the basics of life. This means that religion is one of the basics of life.
In addition, math is essential in everything. Mathematical applications in the study of science are
essential. If I want to invest in a business, I must know how to deal with the numbers. In addition,
tracking the orbits of planets in the galaxy cannot be done without numerical comparisons. When I
examine my life, I discover that the Catholic school and mathematics helped me to support myself and
live peacefully in three chapters of my life: my childhood, my adolescence and my maturity.
First chapter, I grew up in Virtue Hill, which means God s Place , in the decade 1960 1970. My
parents found a Catholic school in this place to raise me and educate me. Throughout my childhood,
my father s military career kept our family traveling. When I was a fourth grader, my father who was a
soldier often deployed constantly. My mother sent me to an elementary Catholic boarding school for
my education. This upbringing taught me that whatever else might change in my life, fidelity to my
education was very important.
As I grew up, I also

The s Of St. Teresa Of Avila
The Thought is What Counts
(In Discussion: Jesus Revealing Himself to St. Teresa of Avila)
I have strayed far from any intention, for I was trying to give the reasons why this kind of vision
cannot be the work of the imagination. How could we picture Christ s Humanity by merely studying
the subject or form any impression of His great beauty by means of the imagination? (Page 632
Paragraph 1). This selection brings a great question forward. How can we? St. Teresa in her book The
Raptures of St. Teresa explains the best she can how Jesus is in her every day. Lawrence S.
Cunningham implies, Anyone who imagines that great mystics like Teresa spend all their time in a
quiet cell rapt in prayer will be surprised by these letters. Teresa ... Show more content on

Karen Horney would give a lecture titled The Distrust Between the Sexes. This is basically about how
men and women are different. She gives many reasons as to how they are, but the top ones are
physically, hostility, emotionally, with attitude, intellectually, and with childhood conflicts. She was
born in 1885 and died in 1952. Suzanne Raitt writes, In 1922, at a panel over which Sigmund Freud
presided during a meeting of the Psychoanalytic Congress, a young Berlin trained psychoanalyst
delivered a paper that began one of the fiercest and longest debates in psychoanalytic theory. The
analyst the first woman ever to deliver a paper on feminine psychology at an international
psychoanalytic meeting was Karen Horney, and the paper, On the Genesis of the Castration Complex
in Women, was her famous response to the claim of her own psychoanalyst, Karl Abraham, that all
women unconsciously envy the penis and want to be men. As she gave her paper, Horney was nervous
but respectful. She carefully acknowledged the extraordinary significance of Freud s work before
going on to deliver a searing analysis of the masculinist bias of most of his theories on women. This
challenge to Freudian psychoanalytic theory set the tone for Horney s subsequent career. Karen
Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes identifies three

Transgenic Mouse Model
What is the major problem being addressed by this study?
This research aims at understanding how Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) develops after traumatic
incidents such as stroke. In our lab, we use a transgenic mouse model in order to selectively delete
PTEN from dentate granule cells (DGC) found in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus where TLE
forms. The experiments have shown that deleting PTEN causes abnormalities amongst DGC, causes
mice to display seizures, and is sufficient to cause TLE. By utilizing advanced imaging and neuron
reconstruction we are able to test the leading hypothesis that abnormal DGC drive TLE.
What specific questions are you asking and how will you attempt to answer them?
In this proposal we want to know: 1) the relationship between abnormal cell morphology and temporal
lobe epilepsy (the most common type of post stroke epilepsy) 2) What are the other intrinsic and
extrinsic cell changes that occur in this model 3) Whether there is an alteration in the ratio of
excitatory and inhibitory inputs to the cell that can ultimately drive TLE. To answer these questions,
we will use a transgenic mouse model and neuroimaging techniques to reconstruct the abnormal
neurons and then analyze them using neuron tracing software. Additionally, we will use a transgenic
mouse combined with advanced tracing techniques to trace abnormal cell inputs. ... Show more

Two thirds of patients who suffer from stroke develop TLE. The proposed study will test whether the
pathology of PTEN Knockout cells is a primary driver for TLE or merely a secondary change
following seizures. Additionally, we will characterize the different natural and extraneous cell changes
that occur within a genetic model of an epileptic animal. This will ultimately help delineate
mechanisms by which temporal lobe epilepsy develops. This will guide creating treatment and
intervention for patients with post stroke

  • 3. All Hail Macbeth in Shakespeare s Play All hail Macbeth One first learns of Macbeth through the eyes of a wounded captain, reporting on what has happened on the battlefield. Macbeth is portrayed foremost as a couragious warrior, who has fought well and won for his king and country. It makes it seem as if Macbeth is a man with a good character. However, the events during the play causes this reasonably good man to become a tyrant, whose sole name blisters our tongues At the beginning of the play, becoming the next king of Scotland has never even entered the mind of Macbeth. The ambitious character he is portrayed as does not come out until later in the play, after the all important event of the prophecy of the witches. This prophecy changes everything for Macbeth and dictates the entire play. The prophecy says speaks of Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter , as well as the next thane of Cawdor. Soon after he has heard the prophecy, he finds out that he is indeed been named the new thane of Cawdor. Macbeth, who at first did not really believe the prophecy, is now forced to reconsider. If one part of the prophecy is right, could the other parts of it come true as well? The prophecy is the first event of many on his road to becoming a tyrant. It forces the vaulting ambition to come out. Without the prophecy, that trait might have stayed in the background. As I write to tell you the areas of achievement, please understand that cultural drift sometimes took a long time to come about given our patriarchal society with values of tradition, order and obedience. Until the end of the 19th century almost all women would not have thought about challenging societal norms. Success is not reached by simply creating a business, however. The level of success is measured by the size and efficiency of the business. Business growth is the driving force of the economy. The additional jobs and revenues created when a business expands allow the economy to grow at exponential rates. One of the fastest and most popular ways to increase the size of a business is to turn it into a franchise, which can then be purchased by individuals. As well, the company does an extensive background check on a variety of issues including credit history, business management experience, and the acceptance of the contractual agreement that the company provides. Because of these strict rules and the large amount of capital needed to purchase a location, rates for franchise applicants are 1% for McDonald s (Norton, 1988, p. 204). Abnormal profit is therefore defined as extra profit above normal profit. In the long run, oligopolies make abnormal profits, due to the assumption of high barriers to entry. When firms in an industry seem to be making abnormal profit, it may attract new entrants into the market; causing an increase in supply and therefore a decrease in price leading to normal profits. However since there are high barriers to entry in an oligopolistic market, an influx of new firms into the market is highly unlikely, therefore abnormal profits are sustained in the long run. Diagram 2.0 3. Non Price Competition As previously discussed, price stickiness is one of the implications under the assumptions of the oligopoly model. Since changing price will generally result in the loss of profits and market share; firms compete using non price related strategies. One of these methods includes product improvement. If firms improve the quality of the product or implement characteristics that their targeted demographic enjoy, they can charge more for the product or attract a greater consumer base. Firms operating in an oligopolistic firm also invest largely in marketing of their product. Raising awareness regarding the product will encourage more sales if advertisements appeal to audience. Disadvantages associated with allozymes include heterozygote deficiencies due to null (enzymatically inactive) alleles and the amount and quality of tissue samples required (Hillis et al., 1996). In addition, some changes in DNA sequence are masked at the protein level, reducing the level of detectable variation. Some changes in nucleotide sequence do not change the encoded polypeptide (silent substitutions), and some polypeptide changes do not alter the mobility of the protein in an electrophoretic gel (synonymous substitutions). Moreover, genetic variations caused by mutations are expressed as amino acid replacements due to changes in protein compositions, and are resolved as bands (alleles) on electrophoresis (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). However, other limitations developed by allozymes are highly biased genomic sampling (only genes encoding well documented, soluble proteins are detectable); a low number of markers, insufficient for examining major portions of the genome; occasional differences between tissues or ontogenetic stages; and difficulty in the standardization of experimental methods from laboratory to laboratory (DeYoung and Honeycutt, 2005). Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer performance despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction Theory claims that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task content which in consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for execution (Beilock et al., 2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for explicit monitoring and its effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not been adequately ... While some scholars have a more deterministic viewpoint and consider human personality as fairly predictable and stable over time (e.g. biogenetic determinism), other theorists view personality as fluid and highly malleable (e.g. behaviorism). The intermediate stance assumes a bidirectional relationship between heredity and environment, which allows for both consistency and change in personality. Allport used an idiographic approach that emphasized uniqueness of individuals, evaluating categories of values within a person, instead of across groups. This approach reduces researchers bias as the study is focused on investigation of traits presented in each individual, rather than a theorized central trait (Burger, 2010). Allport was influential in conceptualizing of personality, but his trait model is rather philosophical than scientific. Falsification of his hypothesis and organization of psychological data under his theory is difficult, and, consequently, measurement of personality stability or change is problematic. Contrary to Allport, personality analysis of Eysenck was nomothetic in nature, with strong emphases on biological foundations of traits. To construct and explain personality he used typical for the natural sciences approach that support generalization. In 1888 electric cars began to appear in the United States and abroad as a spillover from the previous technology. The most successful car was built by William Morrison of Des Moines, Iowa and could run for thirteen consecutive hours at a speed of fourteen miles per hour. However, much of the success of this was due to the promotional work from Harold Sturges, secretary of the American Battery Company. This theme would develop over and over again in the life of all alternative fuel systems where success came not from actual integrity, but from force from an outside source. For the next couple years electric cars seemed like they represented the future of travel. They were adopted by the postal service and companies began to profit from their production. General Electric began to produce cars in 1898 and achieved a land speed record for a car that went 39.25 miles per hour, a speed that gas powered cars could not come close to beating. At this point the market for electric cars was big enough were a couple of firms were successful. Due to the level of competition between these firms technological advance gained speed because companies were trying to separate their product from the others. Reflection On Professional Development In this short essay my own personal view on professional development will be made evident through reviewing past experiences, allowing recommendations for better practice to occur. Other topics discussed and analysed will be; the structure of the organisation, the effectiveness on leadership and management. My own role within the organisational structure will be reflected on, considering the impact of skills in practice, further, justifying what I will need for future personal and professional development. Reflective practice is an important tool, as people learn from their own professional experiences (Pascal and Brown, 2009). Reflection provides opportunity for furthering personal and professional development (Nganga, 2011). As it helps to certify knowledge skills and experience that is used within practice (Freire, 1972). Boud, Keogh and Walker (1985) states that, looking through past and present experiences helps with progression in the future. The reflection on practice is finding the weaknesses and overcoming them (Dyer and Taylor, 2012). Johns (2000) situates that a number of models can help to structure a reflection. As they provide a framework that helps develop a deeper understanding and analysis. One reflective model is Schön (2002) the model of reflection in action and reflection on action. This model is beneficial to use as it involves working on getting to the bottom of what is happening in the experience process, such as; the decisions made and the feelings felt at that time of the event. Reflection on action involves looking over the event and drawing on professional knowledge to understand what happened and why it happened and to develop deeper knowledge (Thompson and Pascal, 2012). However, this is not the only model that could be used. Other models such as Kolb (1984), Gibbs (1988) and Brookfield (1995) have different frameworks to help breakdown an issue. I like to use Schön (2002) model in the workplace as I am thinking about what I am doing as I am doing it. This does not provide a lot of time to think in depth and to break the event down, leading to not gaining a better understanding of what happened, without this I have no targets to better my professional development. ... • 40. Depictions Of Women During The Golden Ass I will argue that the depictions of women in The Golden Ass seem to reinforce the gender stereotype of women to be lustful and manipulative nymphomaniacs because of the qualities of several female characters. The Golden Ass identifies the latent nature of women through several characters, namely: The woman from Corinth, who Lucius sleeps with, The wife from the story, the lover, and the jar, and Photis. First, I will analyze the woman from Corinth who sleeps with Lucius and how her qualities reinforce the gender stereotype. Next I will analyze the wife from the story: the lady and the jar, and how her qualities connect to the stereotype of women. Then, I will analyze the characteristics of Photis and how her qualities support the gender stereotype. Once I have established the distinct stereotypes present in these women the position that The Golden Ass reinforces stereotypes can be taken because it will be understood that the majority of women share their respective qualities and therefore live within the boundaries of their stereotype. Finally, I will refute the opposition to my claim. Perhaps the most compelling support of the racy female stereotype is the depicted actions of the lady of Corinth who made love to Lucius. Her embodiment of the female stereotype is important because it reinforces the commonality of these traits and therefore the validation of the gender stereotype. The movie had audiences questioning the ideal American family. Arguement For Rewarding Human Organs Many people believe that they should be rewarded for saving another person s life by donating an organ for them, claiming that they had a choice, so they should be praised for making the right decision to give it away! Well, if that s true, then we should be rewarded for picking up garbage that we dropped, or washing our hands after we use the restroom. People aren t ordinarily rewarded, or praised, for something we are already expected to do. But, that is what is expected to happen when donating organs. Organ donation is the process of removing tissues along with organs from a human body for the purposes of transplanting. In many countries, the patients in need of organs have to pay the donor for the organ. The sale of human organs should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Reflection Paper On My Life Reflections on My Life When I examine my life, I like to reflect on two facets of religion and mathematics. In the book Hugs for Grads , Jeff Walling advised the graduates, The simple basics of life love, faith, and hope are all we really need. We can t undo all the world s wrongs, but we can affect the corner of the world we live in if we ll just stick to the basics the basics of life. This means that religion is one of the basics of life. In addition, math is essential in everything. Mathematical applications in the study of science are essential. If I want to invest in a business, I must know how to deal with the numbers. In addition, tracking the orbits of planets in the galaxy cannot be done without numerical comparisons. When I examine my life, I discover that the Catholic school and mathematics helped me to support myself and live peacefully in three chapters of my life: my childhood, my adolescence and my maturity. First chapter, I grew up in Virtue Hill, which means God s Place , in the decade 1960 1970. My parents found a Catholic school in this place to raise me and educate me. Throughout my childhood, my father s military career kept our family traveling. When I was a fourth grader, my father who was a soldier often deployed constantly. My mother sent me to an elementary Catholic boarding school for my education. This upbringing taught me that whatever else might change in my life, fidelity to my education was very important. As I grew up, I also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The s Of St. Teresa Of Avila The Thought is What Counts (In Discussion: Jesus Revealing Himself to St. Teresa of Avila) I have strayed far from any intention, for I was trying to give the reasons why this kind of vision cannot be the work of the imagination. How could we picture Christ s Humanity by merely studying the subject or form any impression of His great beauty by means of the imagination? (Page 632 Paragraph 1). This selection brings a great question forward. How can we? St. Teresa in her book The Raptures of St. Teresa explains the best she can how Jesus is in her every day. Lawrence S. Cunningham implies, Anyone who imagines that great mystics like Teresa spend all their time in a quiet cell rapt in prayer will be surprised by these letters. Teresa ... She gives many reasons as to how they are, but the top ones are physically, hostility, emotionally, with attitude, intellectually, and with childhood conflicts. She was born in 1885 and died in 1952. Suzanne Raitt writes, In 1922, at a panel over which Sigmund Freud presided during a meeting of the Psychoanalytic Congress, a young Berlin trained psychoanalyst delivered a paper that began one of the fiercest and longest debates in psychoanalytic theory. The analyst the first woman ever to deliver a paper on feminine psychology at an international psychoanalytic meeting was Karen Horney, and the paper, On the Genesis of the Castration Complex in Women, was her famous response to the claim of her own psychoanalyst, Karl Abraham, that all women unconsciously envy the penis and want to be men. As she gave her paper, Horney was nervous but respectful. She carefully acknowledged the extraordinary significance of Freud s work before going on to deliver a searing analysis of the masculinist bias of most of his theories on women. This challenge to Freudian psychoanalytic theory set the tone for Horney s subsequent career. Karen Horney s The Distrust Between the Sexes identifies three ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Transgenic Mouse Model What is the major problem being addressed by this study? This research aims at understanding how Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) develops after traumatic incidents such as stroke. In our lab, we use a transgenic mouse model in order to selectively delete PTEN from dentate granule cells (DGC) found in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus where TLE forms. The experiments have shown that deleting PTEN causes abnormalities amongst DGC, causes mice to display seizures, and is sufficient to cause TLE. By utilizing advanced imaging and neuron reconstruction we are able to test the leading hypothesis that abnormal DGC drive TLE. What specific questions are you asking and how will you attempt to answer them? In this proposal we want to know: 1) the relationship between abnormal cell morphology and temporal lobe epilepsy (the most common type of post stroke epilepsy) 2) What are the other intrinsic and extrinsic cell changes that occur in this model 3) Whether there is an alteration in the ratio of excitatory and inhibitory inputs to the cell that can ultimately drive TLE. To answer these questions, we will use a transgenic mouse model and neuroimaging techniques to reconstruct the abnormal neurons and then analyze them using neuron tracing software. Additionally, we will use a transgenic mouse combined with advanced tracing techniques to trace abnormal cell inputs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two thirds of patients who suffer from stroke develop TLE. The proposed study will test whether the pathology of PTEN Knockout cells is a primary driver for TLE or merely a secondary change following seizures. Additionally, we will characterize the different natural and extraneous cell changes that occur within a genetic model of an epileptic animal. This will ultimately help delineate mechanisms by which temporal lobe epilepsy develops. This will guide creating treatment and intervention for patients with post stroke ...
