A foundation is the lowest part of the building structure. It is the engineering field of study devoted to the design of those structures which support other structures, most typically buildings, bridges or transportation infrastructure. It is at the periphery of Civil, Structural and Geo-technical Engineering disciplines and has distinct focus on soil-structure interaction.
Roof, covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain, snow, sunlight, wind, and extremes of temperature. Roofs have been constructed in a wide variety of forms—flat, pitched, vaulted, domed, or in combinations—as dictated by technical, economic, or aesthetic considerations.

Shuttering in concrete construction is used as a mould for a structure in which fresh concrete is poured to harden subsequently curing
It is a part of formwork, or you may call it as derivative of formwork. Shuttering is a vertical temporary arrangement which is arranged to bring concrete in a desired shape.orFormwork which supports vertical arrangement is known as shuttering.
Joints are easy to maintain and are less detrimental than uncontrolled or uneven cracks. Concrete expands & shrinks with variations in moisture and temp. The overall affinity is to shrink and this can cause cracking at an early age. Uneven cracks are unpleasant and difficult to maintain but usually do not affect the integrity of concrete.

Retaining walls are used to retain earth (or other material) in a vertical position at locations where an abrupt change in ground level occurs.
The walls therefore prevents the retained earth from assuming its natural angle of repose.

Quality defects in TMT Bars, Possible causes and Potential Solutions.PrashantGoswami42
Maintaining high-quality standards in the production of TMT bars is crucial for ensuring structural integrity in construction. Addressing common defects through careful monitoring, standardized processes, and advanced technology can significantly improve the quality of TMT bars. Continuous training and adherence to quality control measures will also play a pivotal role in minimizing these defects.

Automobile Management System Project Report.pdfKamal Acharya
The proposed project is developed to manage the automobile in the automobile dealer company. The main module in this project is login, automobile management, customer management, sales, complaints and reports. The first module is the login. The automobile showroom owner should login to the project for usage. The username and password are verified and if it is correct, next form opens. If the username and password are not correct, it shows the error message.
When a customer search for a automobile, if the automobile is available, they will be taken to a page that shows the details of the automobile including automobile name, automobile ID, quantity, price etc. “Automobile Management System” is useful for maintaining automobiles, customers effectively and hence helps for establishing good relation between customer and automobile organization. It contains various customized modules for effectively maintaining automobiles and stock information accurately and safely.
When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.

Alternative Retaining Techniques:

3. Retaining Wall
A retaining wall is a structure that holds or retains soil behind it. There are many
types of materials that can be used to create retaining walls like concrete blocks.
6. Stability Conditions
Should be able to resist the pressure coming from it.
Never overturn by lateral pressure.
The weight of the wall and the force coming on it due to the earth pressure should
not push its foundation to a value more than the S.B.C ( safe bearing capacity) of
the soil on which it is established.
Avoid accumulation of water behind the retaining wall.
In case of long masonry retaining wall, expansion joints should be used at 6 to 9
meter apart
7. Sheet Piles
Used to build continuous walls for waterfront structures and for temporary
construction wall heights > 6 m if used with anchors
8. Sheet Piles
Advantages
Provides higher resistance to driving stresses
Is of an overall lighter weight
Can be reused on several projects
Provides a long service life above or below the water table
Easy to adapt the pile length by either welding or bolting
9. Alternative Retaining Techniques:
Soil nailing
Soil nailing is a technique in which soil slopes, excavation or retaining walls are
reinforced by the insertion of relatively slender elements – normally steel
reinforcing bars.
10. Alternative Retaining Techniques:
Soil nailing
Advantages
Overhead construction requirements are smaller than those for ground anchor
walls because soil nail walls do not require the installation of soldier beams
Less disruptive to traffic and causes less environmental impact compared to
other construction methods.
Provide a less congested work place, particularly when compared to braced
excavations.
Soil nail walls are typically equivalent in cost or more cost-effective than ground
anchor walls.
11. Alternative Retaining Techniques:
Soil nailing
Disadvantages
may not be appropriate for strict deformation control is required for structures and
utilities located behind the proposed wall
requires specialized and experienced contractors.
Deflections can be reduced by post tensioning but at an increased cost
13. Alternative Retaining Techniques:
Gabion
Advantage
Use of smaller rocks gives greater flexibility in design
Less easy to erode
Can use local beach material to reduce visual impact
14. Alternative Retaining Techniques:
Gabion
Disadvantages
Unnatural appearance
Unpleasant if mesh breaks - risk of injury
Shorter lifespan than other techniques
Ongoing maintenance costs
