This document discusses a study that tested the effects of supplemental green light on the growth of lettuce plants grown under red and blue LEDs. Four light treatments were used: red and blue LEDs alone (RB), red and blue LEDs with additional green fluorescent lamps (RGB), green fluorescent lamps alone (GF), and cool-white fluorescent lamps (CWF). The addition of 24% green light to the red and blue LEDs (RGB treatment) enhanced plant growth, producing more biomass than the broad-spectrum cool-white fluorescent lamps. While green light alone (GF treatment) did not promote as much growth as the other light sources. The RGB treatment may be beneficial for plant growth in space-based plant growth chambers
