Niche areas of research in applied linguistics were examined, including corpus linguistics, learner autonomy, language testing/assessment, and vocabulary. Specific subfields like forensic linguistics, clinical linguistics, computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, ethnolinguistics, and discourse analysis were also covered. 3. Guidelines for research proposals and assessment criteria were provided, along with resources for approved projects and grant recipients to inform TESOL research agenda development. Intedisciplinary collaboration and practical application to teaching were emphasized.
