- Over past 7-8 years in my close relatives and friends am finding different cancers in all age groups. Rings a bell…is it mere coincidence..huh?

- Swapping of breast cancer and cervix, now CA breast topping the chart in India.
- My institute
- All biopsy samples from dept of Pathology studied gave above data. Young breast CA is < 40 years. Sanghmitra Pati et al found similar breast CA incidence in odisha geographical area.
- When I boiled milk in a plastic container in microwave oven it curdled everyday invariably and I probed into the cause. Same milk boiled in steel container didn’t curdle.
- BPA is also found in reusable water bottles, plastic table ware, lids, bottle tops, coffee makers, food and storage containers, linings of food and beverage cans, epoxy resins, dental sealants, medical equipment, thermal paper rolls, linings of water supply pipes, CDs, DVDs, sports equipment, computers, and recycled paper products such as paper plates, toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins

- We had plans to assay BPA in pouched milk, milk of cows feeding freely on polythenes, tea in plastic cups, milk in baby feeding bottle but couldn’t do due to lack of funds and time constraint.

- India is at higher risk due to heavy sunlight exposure (7KWH on an avg) where plastic water and food containers are freely transported. Water poured in polythene simulated hot food being carried in polythenes. Need to give a thought regarding cold drink bottles too.

- The mutations can be propagated to the next generation too.
- Not just non-bio-degradability but its carcinogenic potential should be also thought of.
- We have to give up our conveniences. Must come up with substitutes. Polythene should be banned from the sources.
- Let’s make small changes ourselves. I’ve done it. I’ve tried to create awareness in my immediate neighbourhood too.
- If we wait to research everything ourselves and then bring laws by that time 2 generation of human race of our nation would be damaged by subtle mutations.
