This study examined the growth of ZnO nanowires using pulsed laser deposition. The morphology of the nanowires depended on deposition temperature and pressure. Nanowires grew best between 700-800°C. At 800°C and 1 Torr pressure with 75k shots, the longest nanowires were grown. Increasing deposition time through more laser shots increased nanowire height. A two-step process using a seed layer produced clustered, dense nanowires.
