This document discusses integrating virtual classrooms into higher education. It defines a virtual classroom as using videoconferencing, internet broadcasts, or email to allow educators to interact with students either online or face-to-face. This allows institutions to hold live online classes and share videos and presentations. Popular virtual classroom platforms mentioned are Blackboard Collaborate, Wimba Classroom, and Elluminate. Research discussed found that virtual classrooms can enhance communication in online courses and improve student achievement and attitudes compared to traditional face-to-face methods.
