Demon s That Lay Awake In A Nightmare On Elm Street
Demon s that Lay Awake in Dreams Carmilla is the story of a lesbian vampire who has become
captivated with a young girl. She first meets Laura when she was 6. Carmilla puts Laura in a trance
like state that gave her the sensation that she was dreaming the meeting of Carmilla. A Nightmare on
Elm Street is a story about a small group of teenagers being haunted by an apparition, named Freddie
Krueger, which uses dreams as gateways into the real world. Freddie uses fear as a way of putting his
victims into a trance that prevents them from escaping similar to how Carmilla offers their deepest
desire. Carmilla uses the dream like state in order to suck her victim s blood, sometimes to the point of
death. Freddie uses it to outright kill and enact revenge for the parents who had indirectly caused his
death. Dreaming allows these two, supposedly, immortal creatures to thrive and accomplish their
goals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whenever the children of A Nightmare on Elm Street fall asleep, they find themselves in rooms that
can easily allow Freddie to corner them. In the beginning of the film, Tina has a nightmare where she

When the Allies heard that the Japanese were moving troops in onto the island, they began to do the
same. On that night, was when the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal began. On November 14th, two days
later CAF and an aircraft from the USS Enterprise found seven of Tanka s transports. Once spotted,
CAF and the aircraft sunk all seven of the transporting carriers. Even though they suffered losses too,
American warships turned back to the Japanese on the island the next day. The only four remaining
transport boats were beached at Tassafaronga before dusk. Once they were beached, Allied forces

Muscle And Muscle Of Muscles
Muscle and Muscle Tissue
Functions
Through contractions, muscles perform four functions.
Movement or motion Skeletal muscles provide movements of the body by muscle contraction, such as
walking, and running. Cardiac muscle contraction maintains the beating of the heart. Smooth muscle
contraction in the intestines, urinary bladder, and blood vessels moves substances through the body.
Maintenance of posture Skeletal muscles contract and make small adjustments almost continuously to
hold the body in stationary positions, such as sitting or standing. Stabilize joints Skeletal muscles add
stability to joints that have poor reinforcement and articular surfaces that do not fit well, such as in the
shoulder and knee joints¯

All muscle tissue is composed of muscle fibers which are really muscle cells.
There are three types of muscles:
Skeletal muscle
Skeletal muscle is found attached to and covering bones.
They are classified as skeletal, striated, voluntary muscles. The muscle fibers are multinucleated
(contain many nuclei), have band like striations, and contraction is by conscious control.
Cardiac muscle
Cardiac muscle is located in the walls of the heart and is classified as cardiac, striated, involuntary
muscle. The muscle fibers are branched, contain a single nucleus, have band like striations, and are not
under conscious control. They have thicker striations, called intercalated discs, where one muscle fiber
joins the next fiber.
Smooth muscle
Smooth muscle is located in the walls of hollow visceral (internal) organs such as the intestines,
stomach, urinary bladder, respiratory passages, and blood vessels. They are classified as visceral,
nonstriated, involuntary muscles. The muscle fibers contain a single nucleus, no striations, and are not
under conscious control.

The Effects Of Down Syndrome On The Body
Down syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects several people. Chances are, you have met or have
seen somebody living with down syndrome. Down syndrome is caused when an individual has a full
or partial copy of chromosome 21. This additional piece of genetic makeup leads to changes
throughout the body. Some of the notable changes are having a low muscle tone, small stature, an
upward slant to the eyes, and a deep crevice in the center of the palm. Down syndrome does not affect
one single part of the body, it affects the whole body.
Down syndrome has many affects on the body. These affects are having a distinct facial appearance,
some intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, learning disabilities, short stature, and speech

The Marketing Concept Essay
The Marketing Concept The marketing concept has evolved over the last years, marketing reflects to a
key approach to doing business. An organisations objective is to make profit, to do this they have to

The Marketing concept holds that the key to achieving the organisational goals lies in determining the
needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired satisfaction more efficiently and

Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life
Definition:
Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in the
image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike plants and
animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans also can be saved
by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept Christ. Man is the only
being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned blessings of emotion and
salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this fundamental and necessary
sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur.
History:
A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and
Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s
sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the offering,
but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother out of anger and
jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would forever shape his own
life and the life of his descendents. There are many modern examples of this disregard for the value of
life, such as: abortion, mass shootings, suicides, and suicide bombers. One major example is the recent
Los Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival where 59 people were killed and at

Nebuchadnezzar s Fall Of Babylon
1 3: The phrase and I looked marks the beginning of the fourth visionary segment of Revelation as
John sees the Lamb upon Mount Zion. The slain Lamb stands on Mount Zion, the place where God
himself dwells, while the Beast only stands upon the sands of the sea (Joel 2:32 and Isaiah 2:2). The
144,000 that are with God most likely stand for the whole church of Jesus Christ, the same people in
Revelation 7:4. This would not be talking about a spiritually elite people, however, and the people are
in contrast with those who whored themselves out to the beast on earth. The harpists harping their
harps in heaven emphasize the tremendous joy and worship that is going on because of the righteous
judgment of God. The people of God are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This references Nebuchadnezzar s prideful description in Daniel 4:30, where Babylon has fallen, just
as Nebuchadnezzar s reign fell. Babylon makes the nations drunk with her impurities, and therefore
corrupts the nations in her evil ways, making them drink the wine of the wrath of God s wrath because
of their unholy fornication. Those who have worshipped the beast and received the mark on their
hands or heads now must drink the wine of the wrath of God, a fit punishment for the crimes that they
committed against God. This demonstrates the eye for an eye principle, where those who worshipped
the beast are subject to due torment, such as in Psalm 60:3 and Psalm 75:8. The Greek used here to
describe God s anger, orgē, is translated indignation. This denotes the kind of anger that rises out of a
settled disposition, an accurate description of the wrath of God. l This wine is full strength as it is not
broken down in any way, and the torment itself is with fire and sulfur, a symbol of judgment upon
those who are unbelievers. This is done in the presence of the Lamb, meaning that those who denied
Christ will be forced to acknowledge Him as they are punished justly in His

Rohypnol is a drug associated with rave parties and comes from the benzodiazepine family. It is
considered to be the date rape drug and has become famous for its use in committing sexual assault. It
is often given to an unsuspecting victim by dissolving it in beverage while they are unaware. It is
similar to Valium TM but has ten times its strength. In combination with alcohol, it can be deadly.
Rohypnol is highly addictive and has severe withdrawal symptoms. Its use can cause deep sedation,
respiratory distress, blackouts for up 24 hours, and amnesia.
Ecstasy is known as Methylene Dioxy Meth Amphetamine (MDMA) and has street names such as X,
Rolls, E, Adam, Beans and Buddies. The initial use of ecstasy results in: increased heart rate;
increased blood pressure; dilation of pupils and bronchi; brain stimulation; increased motor activity;
tightening of jaw muscles; grinding of jaws; overheating; sweating; heat stroke; and dehydration. The
long term use of ecstasy can result in irreparable brain damage.
3.) Higher doses of designer drugs can result in paranoia, depression and violent irrational behaviour.
In general, designer drugs can create a wide range of physical problems such as: hypertension;
uncontrolled tremors; total paralysis; seizures; permanent drain damage; and death.

Investigating The Hardness Of River Tank And Tap Water
Water Hardness EEI
The aim of this investigation is to use a quantitative method to determine the hardness of river, tank
and tap water. Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M
magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the
three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river
water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest
water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate,
therefore it was the softest of the water samples. This investigation proved the hypothesis and the
quantitative method used worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the
molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a
water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which
has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would
have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the
molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it
is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of
substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because
the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are
attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then
surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different
solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often
do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an
advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g

Avoid Uncompressing Image Data
2.3. Memory usage The memory usage of image object is a key factor for a program using image files,
because normally a Bitmap object expands image data in memory and the size of memory is usually
significant as it is directly related to the dimension of the image. 2.3.1. Avoid uncompressing image
data However, the first thing worth to discuss is that the Image.FromStream() has a different approach
than other means to load an image file into memory, that makes it is possible to not expand the
compressed image data in memory. This can make an enormous difference when the raw size is much
larger than the compressed size, such as a JPEG image file of a large dimension with many chunks of
same color. The key is using the static method of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this feature, using clone() method is super fast and it can save significant memory comparing to
duplicate with new Bitmap(). However, clone() method will share file lock if the original one was
created as new Bitmap(filename), just like to create a new Bitmap object with the constructor. The
second method is to use Bitmap(Bitmap) constructor to create a duplicate. The duplicated object has
separate memory and does not hold file lock as the original object might have. A test of simple image
file shows this method is slower than loading from file directly. 2.4. Capturing a control to a bitmap It
is very useful to capture image data of a control or a form into a bitmap object. The key is to use the
DrawToBitmap() method of the control or the form. The method is defined in both
System.Windows.Forms.Control and System.Windows.Forms.Form, so all subclasses of them have
the same function, such as Label, Button, PictureBox, and Dialogs. The following code snippet is a
demo of using the method to capture a control into a bitmap. The code to capture a form into a bitmap
is almost the same as above. 2.5. Image file types There are multiple image file formats that are
supported by Image class. Each supported format is defined as a static property in ImageFormat class
in namespace System.Drawing.Imaging (MSDN, n.d. d).

TATA steel strategy was to integrate the value chain of steelmaking to aid the growth of Asia s

They therefore had to transform itself into a high margin global distributor of specialty teas and other

the demands of the market and in its attempt to meet it, they therefore acquired Tetley which not only
was a brand with global appeal, but at the same time provided them access to the market in both the
developed and emerging markets, thereby reducing dependency on one geography. Through this
acquisition they also gained technology to create unique products (i.e. herbal, flavoured tea) which
they could offer to the markets which they are already established (i.e. India, Middle East and Russia)
and attain cost synergies through the manufacturing of tea and distribution via the global supply chain
approach. In its bid to further diversify their portfolio and transform into a beverage company, they
later acquired EBI which was sold 9 months later to earn them a profit of $600M. This was not due to
the fact of a change in their strategy, but similar to Indian Hotel, they would prefer to have a

Lady With An Erine Analysis
Lady With an Ermine In his portrait Lady with an Ermine, Leonardo da Vinci s innovative detail to
composition, chiaroscuro, and symbolism allows the emergence of a new style of portraiture.
In the book Leonardo da Vinci: The Marvellous Works of Nature and Man, Kemp demonstrates his
knowledge on Leonardo s portrait through stylistic analysis and historical input. Shell and Sironi
presents their article Cecilia Gallerani: Leonardo s Lady with an Ermine, through studies in the
identification of the painting. The authors of the article study physical and historical features of the
painting to create meaning. Through the analysis of stylistic features and examination of history, the
meaning of the Lady with an Ermine can be uncovered as a portrait with poetic vitality and aristocratic
value.
The portrait Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci [Fig. 1], displays a young lady known as
Cecilia Gallerani with an ermine on her lap. Cecilia s head tilts to the side and the line of her eyes
follows as she gazes away from the beholder. The positioning of her head and eyes create a mysterious
atmosphere around her. She seems dignified through the divergence of her eyes from the beholder.
Furthermore, her body is slanted towards the beholder while her head slants in the opposite direction.
The composition of her body seems to be engaging with the beholder but her her gaze indicates no
interest. The distance between the beholder and her indicates that one can only admire her from afar.
The ermine sits gracefully in Cecilia s arms and its eyes also diverts away. The ermine tilts its head to
his right, opposite of Cecilia. The different angles of their heads reflects the dynamics and movement
of the portrait. Therefore, the portrait does not feel stiff but rather lively.
Another feature of this portrait is the use of Chiaroscuro and its ability to make the portrait look
realistic. The light source coming from the left side illuminates Cecilia s skin against the dark
background. The light brightens the entire left side of Cecilia and the ermine, meanwhile creating
shadows on the right side of her body. The shadows, however, are soft like reflected light. The
reflected light has intensity on the bright parts of her body

The Effects Of Air Pollution
To taste the morning air! The deliciously crisp and sweet air for which I long (O Sheridan, 2011).
Have you tasted the salty air of the sea or the cold, crisp air of the Colorado Rockies? According to
recent studies scientists have found that the human lung can taste bitter substances in the air. (Connor,
2010) So how about the layered bitter, astringent, smoky taste of Shanghai? In January of 2013, the
U.S. Embassy in Beijing reported that a toxic cloud the size of the Greenland covered parts of China
causing the levels of a particulate air pollution that seeps into the lung, vein, and heart tissue, to surge
above 850 micrograms per cubic meter. According to the UN, 20 micrograms per cubic meter is
considered to be the highest safe level. (Meyer, 2017)
So, what caused such an extreme level of smog to infiltrate the air that winter and every winter since?
Two independent studies argue that climate change will make this event and others like it
commonplace in the years to come. In March 2017 an article published at www.nature.com states that
although Chinas pollutant emissions can be considered the underlying issue, the local weather
conditions definitely play a weighted part. According to the article changes to the atmosphere such as
weakened northerly winds, decreased relative humidity, reduced Arctic Sea ice, and declined East
Asian winter monsoon, may have contributed . Their findings suggest that the climate models show
that the wind conditions causing the

COMPOSING THE REFLECTED BEST SELF PORTRAIT
In presenting a theory about myself as a leader, I will attempt to draw conclusions about my strengths
and weakness as a leader based on the things learned in this class. I will speculate on a reflective
leadership best self portrait through my work experiences that draw on my interpersonal resources for
vision. Recognizing my talents and shortcomings will help develop both micro and macro levels of
resource development needed to reach my full potential.
An example of one of my leadership roles was on the first day of class. I was chosen to lead in a group
communication. We were presented with an assignment on characteristics of group communication.
The assignment involved factors and behavior that contributed to our group. We determined that
communication was the most important factor. The skills the group had to establish were a common
goal, working together in small groups, and synergy. See Chapter 1. Another example of a leadership
role was on the discussion panel project. The project was very challenging and labor intensive. We
learned how technology and computer mediated technology effect communication. See Chapter 15.
Great leaders must have vision and strategic planning where they have the ability to look ahead, to
anticipate with some accuracy where they are going in the future. I believe I have a clear, exciting idea

English Influence On American Culture
Since the very first Europeans settled in America and came across the natives that had lived there for
thousands of years before, cultures have come together. While some moments in history show the
negative side to cultures meeting, there have also been good times. As time has passed, growing up in
such a diverse culture has been positive. With food, religion, and languages, the blend of cultures has
brought so many people together. Perhaps the most obvious in the blending of cultures can be found in
the food Americans consume. It is not difficult at all to think of typical American dishes. These foods
include, hamburgers, hot dogs, apple pie, and the list goes on. Because of cultures blending, American

Physical Fitness And Mental Fitness
One of the most well known facts in the field of health and psychology is that physical fitness indeed
increases one s mental activity and increases mental fitness. This fact has been proved through
decades worth of careful and dedicated research on the mind body connection that exists in human
beings. However, while this might be an accepted fact, scholars these days are still being surprised
with new discoveries, including how exercising affects the brain and how do these benefits happen to
be. Perhaps one of the most common misconceptions about the brain is that it is a muscle (Edlund,
2013). However, basic anatomy would show that despite containing a little bit of muscle, the brain is
mostly composed of white and grey matters, which are responsible for the transmission of electrical
impulses through a series of chemical reactions. From these series of transmissions, the electrical
impulses become responsible for information transmission throughout the whole body (Godman,
2014). However, one of the more apparent differences here is that while muscle develops through
physical exertion, the brain does not. And, being a well known fact, this led to many people thinking
that in order to improve one s mental well being, the best thing to do is to read books, engage in
puzzles, and do things that would directly affect your brain. While this would certainly be beneficial,
plenty of other factors (biological and psychological) could affect an individual s perception and

1. inducing higher consumption / production.
2. achieving social policy objectives including redistribution of income, population control, etc.
3. offsetting market imperfections including internalisation of externalities;
TRANSFERS AND SUBSIDIES
Transfers which are straight income supplements are different from subsidies. An unconditional
transfer to an individual would add to his income and would be distributed over the entire range of his
expenditures. A subsidy however relates to a particular good, the relative price of which has been
lowered because of the subsidy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the richer farmers who may derive relatively larger benefits because of their capacity to use these
allied inputs.
Subsidies to elementary education form about half of the total subsidies on general education.
However, this is not true for all individual States: the share of elementary education is lowest in the
high income States and the highest in the low income States (Goa, Punjab and West Bengal actually
give higher subsidies to secondary education than primary education).A negative correlation between
the level of per capita income and the share of subsidies to elementary education is thus discernible.
Most subsidies to higher education accrue predominantly to the better off sections of society as they
have an overwhelming advantage in competing out prospective candidates from the poorer sections in
getting admission to courses that are characterised by scarcity of seats.
For subsidies of health, the greater emphasis on curative health care expenditure often reflects a bias
towards the better off people whereas preventive health care expenditure with much larger
externalities would clearly be of greater help to the economically weaker sections of the society.

Cultural Artifact with Hot Dry Noodles
Culture is not only reflected in the performing arts or languages, but it is also more able to reflect on
the food that people under different food cultural backgrounds, their eating habits and tastes are
different. Every place in this world had one or more typical foods to show its culture. Wuhan, where I
grew up, is famous not only of its historical sites, like Yellow Crane Tower and Guiyuan Tempe but
also famous of its characteristic snacks, such as Hot Dry Noodle, Doupi and duck necks. In these
special foods, Hot Dry Noodle is the most important one because it is not only good at taste, but it also
can show the culture of Wuhan that this city contains enthusiasm, wisdom, gentleness, and
perseverance. In order to prove thesis, I am going to discuss the history of Hot Dry Noodles, Hot Dry
Noodles in Wuhan people lives, and the culture aspect of Hot Dry Noodles. Most characteristic foods
usually have legendary stories, and Hot Dry Noodles is no an exception. In the 1920s, most Chinese
were not wealthy. A hawker named Bao Lee, sold jelly and noodles for living in Long Beach Street,
Hankou. One day, the weather was unusually hot, and a lot of noodles were not sold out. Bao Lee was
afraid that noodles would become rancid, so he cooled remaining noodles, and dried these noodles on
board. However, he accidentally knocked over the oil pot, and sesame oil poured on the noodles. Bao
Lee saw this, and there was no alternative but to mix the noodles with oil and let noodles dry

The Mann Act Analysis
Many new laws are being implemented regarding human trafficking. One of which is the Mann Act of
1910. Although the original law was created a long time ago, recent additions make it much stronger.
The Mann Act makes it a felony to knowingly persuade, induce, entice, or coerce an individual to
travel across state lines to engage in prostitution or attempts to do so. It is an effective tool used to
prosecute human traffickers ( Polaris, 2015). According to Vanderbilt Law Review, the Prosecutorial
Remedies and Other Tools to End the Exploitation of Children Today (PROTECT Act) intends to
protect children from abuse and sexual exploitation, a common element of child human trafficking.
Finally, The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Prevention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The TVPA stated that if convicted of human trafficking, a defendant could be sentenced up to twenty
years in prison, and if death resulted or if the violation includes kidnapping and/or aggravated sexual
abuse, the defendant could be imprisoned for any term of years up to life. Furthermore, perpetrators
who use children younger than fourteen for human trafficking purposes can receive any term of
imprisonment up to life. The TVPA provides a maximum five year penalty for those who unlawfully
destroy, conceal, remove, confiscate, or possess another s official documents. It also permits a court to
require a defendant to pay restitution to a victim of human trafficking for the full amount of the victim
s losses as determined by a court. By increasing the authority of prosecutors in human trafficking
cases, Congress has hoped to deter human traffickers and realize a corresponding decrease in the
prevalence of this crime. Although there are many more laws, these are just three that work to protect
the victim and try to put an end to such a dangerous business (Homeland, 2015). Conclusion
Human trafficking is a dangerous, demeaning trade. It is highly visible to the public. However, people
turn a blind eye, despite all of its repercussions. Saving the victims, and punishing the traffickers,
pimps, and johns takes time and can be a complicated process, but it is immensely worthwhile.
Prevention through education is a key component in order to put a stop to human trafficking once and
for all. The many laws and organizations are also essential in protecting victims and bringing justice.
Human trafficking can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. However, right now, right here, it needs

Li Fung
The goal of effective supply chain management is to gain competitive advantage through optimizing
flows within the enterprise . The Hong Kong listed company Li Fung Ltd represents one of the world s
best examples of achieving this goal. The company financial history clearly tells that story. Just last
year, L F saw profit attributable to shareholder increase by 23%. In fact, over the past 14 years, L F
has seen steady compound annual growth rate of 22%. Not bad performance for a small family
company that started in Guangzhou in 1906 trading silk and porcelain. In 1937, L F moved its
headquarters to one of the world s most efficient seaports, Hong Kong, a move that would have a
critical impact on their supply chain management. The L F ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As outlined in the principles, a good IT network is central to L F s supply chain management success.
As early as 1995, the L F Fung brothers realized the growing importance of the internet in business

the flow of business information and provide much more granular control of supply chain activities.
Companies now strive to mimic L F by following the modern adage substitute information for
inventory . L F continues to leverage the power of the Internet, as customers demand more customized
product choices. According to the business magazine Asiaweek , mass customization is the company s
new strategy, meaning Li Fung can offer buyers a wide variety of choices and combinations of color,
size, and design for, say, a polo shirt and still speedily execute large orders. In 2002, L F started up
an entire business division focused on B2B sourcing via an internet e commerce website called
lifung.com linking small to medium sized businesses with suppliers similar in concept to alibaba.com.

How Is Paul Von Hindenburg A Hero
Paul Von Hindenburg was a renowned military and political leader for Germany; he is most notable
for being a distinguished Field Marshal for the Imperial German Army during WWI, and being the
second president of the Weimar republic. His military hero status was essential for his ability to garner
support from the German public. His monarchistic views were highly influential in shaping the
government while he was reigning as president, and as a result of his seat of presidency, he was a
major determining factor in the eventual fate of the republic. Born 1847, as Paul Ludwig Hans Anton
von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg in Prussia to an aristocrat father; Robert von Beneckendorff
und von Hindenburg, and his wife; Luise Schwickart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During and after the war, Hindenburg was seen as a national hero, and was considered to have
embodied all of the positive characteristics of the collective German people. While the appeal of
Hindenburg was present throughout all social classes, religions, and political view points, it was the
German right wing political groups which idolised Hindenburg the most; seeing him as a portrayal of
classic Prussian ethics, and Lutheran and Junker values. Despite this support for Hindenburg
personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after General Ludendorf s
failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military. With conditions on the
home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the war, on the 29th
September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm II agreed to
establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of government. In
spite of this seeming like a victory for the democrats in Germany, it has been argued that this was just
an effort to deflect blame for the inevitable defeat at the hands of the allies to left wing elements on
the home front. As historian Douglas Newton states; The intentions of the ruling elite... were quite
transparent: ... to smother the prospect of a more thorough revolution from below and to deflect
responsibility for the military defeat on

Essay on Analysis of Cavemen in the Hedges
Chase Thomas
Prof. Julia Elliot
English 282
November 15, 2011
The Cavemen in the Hedges The Cavemen in the Hedges is a short story that contains many
underlying themes of psychoanalytical theory. Themes of the id, a selfish, primal, version of one s self
concerned only with physical desires; the superego, part of a person s psyche that is only worried
about ideals and morals; and the ego, the rational part of the brain that attempts to satisfy both the id
and superego natures make up an immense proportion of the breakdown of this story. Repression and
other psychological defense mechanisms are also very important in the analysis as well. The first
display of the id is that of the cavemen themselves. Our cavemen are ... Show more content on

She lets the cleanliness of her once perfectly kept house go to pot. She no longer cares about reality or
morals and becomes lost to the raw desires of her primal nature. The next theme that is displayed in
The Cavemen in the Hedges is the superego. This is seen in several of our characters at times, but it is
without a doubt personified in the annoying neighbors, the Schaefers. Evan and Winsome are
described as New Age hippies and over friendly . Their dress reminds me of how a choir robe would
look. These two are the type of people that believe everything has a spirit and every creature should be
cared for. While having dinner with our main characters, Winsome begins to get teary eyed over
having found a newborn cavebaby that had died in their backyard. She shows compassion for this
abandoned creature, one of the greatest emotions expressed in terms of the superego. When Kim
declares that she doesn t understand how Winsome could possibly cry for these things and that they
are disgusting , Winsome thinks Kim is being judgmental. This is an archetypal viewpoint of the
superego, as she says this with almost a condescending tone in her voice. The Schaefers appear to be a
moral, sensitive couple that cares deeply for all manner of peoples and this supremely annoys Kim and
the narrator. The reason they are so put off by their neighbors is that they are uncomfortable with
themselves in comparison to the Schaefers. The Schaefers are happily married

John Stuart Mill s Analysis Of The Oppression Of Women
The Subjection of Women looks at the society and its struggles in adjusting to an environment where
women are treated equally. John Stuart Mill s approach to changing society comes from the viewpoint
that after many years of submission and discrimination, women should be treated equally. This
conclusion comes from a reflection on past classes of people that were similarly oppressed. Mill looks
at similar situations throughout history where one certain group was dominant over another
submissive group such as free vs. slave, white vs. black, etc. Mill states but if the principle is true, we
ought to act as if we believed it, and not to ordain that to be born a girl instead of a boy, any more than
to be born black instead of white, or a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of religion and government, they are both ran by men, fundamentally men use these two
establishments to further their own interests and make up rules, commandments, and laws to force
women into marital enslavement . Mill lived in an era when women were seen as a lower class than
men by law and custom. They were expected to do nothing more but to marry, bear children, and give
up much of their time to their families. In most cases they could not pursue a formal education, own
property, vote, or even seek a divorce from an abusive husband. Women lived by having to follow the
rules of their masters, their husbands. Mill s case for women s equality reflects his Utilitarian roots.
The subjection of women, he argues, is not only wrong in itself but one of the chief hindrances to
human improvement. By denying women the same opportunities as men, he says, society not only
hinders the development of roughly half the population but denies itself the benefit of their talents.
The fact that men are typically superior to women in physical strength leads to the assumption that
men are superior to women in all areas, despite the fact that there is no proof to support this claim. In
this respect, Mill says, the unfair situation of women matches that of slaves. Mill argues that the
progress of society requires that all people, men and women alike, not be imprisoned in the fixed

It was a nice sunny bright airy day when Mary was getting stretched out on the rubbery track field in

warmed up Mary had gotten a call from her track Coach Stephaney that she will be competing in her
first ever track meet. Mary was breath taken. She has been dying to get this news forever. She could

This is designed to provide an incentive for people to work extra hours and keep more of what they
earn.
Changes to the tax and benefit system also seek to reduce the risk of the poverty trap where
households on low incomes see little net financial benefit from supplying extra hours of their labor. If
tax and benefit reforms can improve incentives and lead to an increase in the labor supply, this will
help to reduce the equilibrium rate of unemployment (the NAIRU) and thereby increase the economy
s non inflationary growth rate.
Changes to indirect taxes in particular can have an effect on the pattern of demand for goods and
services. For example, the rising value of duty on cigarettes and alcohol is designed to cause a
substitution effect among consumers and thereby reduce the demand for what are perceived as de
merit goods . In contrast, a government financial subsidy to producers has the effect of reducing their
costs of production, lowering the market price and encouraging an expansion of demand.
The use of indirect taxation and subsidies is often justified on the grounds of instances of market
failure. But there might also be a justification based on achieving a more equitable allocation of
resources e.g. providing basic state health care free at the point of use.
Lower rates of corporation tax and other business taxes can stimulate an increase in business fixed
capital

Tarumi Painting Analysis
What is Stephen s relationship with painting, and how does it shape his experience in Tarumi?
In Autumn of the novel, Stephen was thinking about King s last letter and how he understood that
recovering would allow him to relax and continue his passion for painting. He ended his letter hoping
I would use my rest and recuperation to perfect my art. King was one of the few friends I had who
always understood how much painting means to me (14). Stephen has a strong desire to paint and it
evolves throughout the story and allows him to express himself. Art shapes his experiences by
allowing to always have a hobby that can calm him down and communicate with others in different
ways.

demise of Keiko s brother at Hsuchowfu. Don t you see, nothing could ever come of our friendship
now. She looked behind her, checking again to see if anyone were watching us. My brother was killed
at Hsuchowfu (188). The war as well as the events that are taking place at the time of the novel
interfere with the lives of the characters and complicate their relationships.
What is the significance of the title, The Samurai s Garden?
The title signifies two of the key characters in the book, Matsu and Sachi. They are both strong in their
own ways. Wisdom and inner strength are attributes of true Samurai, and Matsu and Sachi have both
learned these virtues from experiences in their lives. Matsu once told me the bridge represented the
samurai s difficult path from this world to the afterlife. When you reach the top of the bridge, you can
see your way to paradise (43). Both characters have encountered hardships in their paths similar to the
difficulties of the samurai.

The Top Five Coffee Shops Essay
Any Top List is always subjective, in my opinion. There will probably be people in my town of
Johnson City, Tennessee, who will disagree with the top 3 coffee shops that I have chosen. However, I
think that these three independent coffee shops, which are all quite different, are exceptionally good.
Beasley s Southern Bistro Beasley s Southern Bistro, located at 2203 McKinley Road in Johnson City
(locals will remember the building as the old Klopman Mills), moved from its location on South Roan
Street. It also changed its style a bit. The old Beasley s was known for its home cooking, which it still
offers; however, they have also expanded the menu and added some unique sandwiches (including a
lobster sub) and, of course, various types of coffees. My husband and I were frequent visitors to the
Beasley s on South Roan and have followed them to their new place. I loved their regular coffee at the
old location. I adore their vanilla cappuccino at the new location. There is nothing better than Eggs
Benedict for breakfast and a large cup of cappuccino. You can order other flavors and lattes, as well.
In addition, when you first walk into the old Klopman Mills, you will notice that it is being turned into
a large building full of dozens of spaces for offices or small retail establishments. Also, in the large
entryway, Beasley s has set up comfy couches and chairs in front of a large stone fireplace where you
can enjoy your coffee if you choose to skip the wonderful

She first meets Laura when she was 6. Carmilla puts Laura in a trance like state that gave her the sensation that she was dreaming the meeting of Carmilla. A Nightmare on Elm Street is a story about a small group of teenagers being haunted by an apparition, named Freddie Krueger, which uses dreams as gateways into the real world. Freddie uses fear as a way of putting his victims into a trance that prevents them from escaping similar to how Carmilla offers their deepest desire. Carmilla uses the dream like state in order to suck her victim s blood, sometimes to the point of death. Freddie uses it to outright kill and enact revenge for the parents who had indirectly caused his death. The first number you see is how many Allies and Japanese have either been killed, are missing, or were wounded during the Battle of Guadalcanal. The second number you see is approximately the number of Americans, Chinese, Russians, and Eastern Europeans, etc. that have been wounded, missing, or killed in the war in Iraq. There were more deaths in a six month period of time than the amount of deaths in an eight year war in Iraq. Once spotted, CAF and the aircraft sunk all seven of the transporting carriers. Even though they suffered losses too, American warships turned back to the Japanese on the island the next day. Cardiac muscle Cardiac muscle is located in the walls of the heart and is classified as cardiac, striated, involuntary muscle. The muscle fibers are branched, contain a single nucleus, have band like striations, and are not under conscious control. • 7. Definition Of Sanctity Of Human Life Definition: Sanctity of human life refers to the fact that human life, due to the fact that humans are created in the image of God and share His likeness, is valued over the lives of plants and animals. Unlike plants and animals, God blessed us with the ability to experience and convey emotion. Humans also can be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ or condemned to hell if they choose not to accept Christ. Man is the only being created in the image of God, therefore having the aforementioned blessings of emotion and salvation, making man so much more important. When people ignore this fundamental and necessary sanctity of life, terrible things like abortion and mass shootings occur. History: A biblical example of a violation of the sanctity of human life is in Genesis 4, the story of Cain and Abel. Cain violated the sanctity of human life and killed his own brother simply because Abel s sacrifice was accepted by God, but Cain s was not. Cain did not give his best to God in the offering, but instead of dealing with his own shortcomings with God, he murdered his brother out of anger and jealousy. By not fixing his own heart issue, he committed a vile sin that would forever shape his own life and the life of his descendents. There are many modern examples of this disregard for the value of life, such as: abortion, mass shootings, suicides, and suicide bombers. One major example is the recent Los Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival where 59 people were killed and at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Nebuchadnezzar s Fall Of Babylon 1 3: The phrase and I looked marks the beginning of the fourth visionary segment of Revelation as John sees the Lamb upon Mount Zion. The slain Lamb stands on Mount Zion, the place where God himself dwells, while the Beast only stands upon the sands of the sea (Joel 2:32 and Isaiah 2:2). The 144,000 that are with God most likely stand for the whole church of Jesus Christ, the same people in Revelation 7:4. This would not be talking about a spiritually elite people, however, and the people are in contrast with those who whored themselves out to the beast on earth. The harpists harping their harps in heaven emphasize the tremendous joy and worship that is going on because of the righteous judgment of God. The people of God are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This references Nebuchadnezzar s prideful description in Daniel 4:30, where Babylon has fallen, just as Nebuchadnezzar s reign fell. Babylon makes the nations drunk with her impurities, and therefore corrupts the nations in her evil ways, making them drink the wine of the wrath of God s wrath because of their unholy fornication. Those who have worshipped the beast and received the mark on their hands or heads now must drink the wine of the wrath of God, a fit punishment for the crimes that they committed against God. This demonstrates the eye for an eye principle, where those who worshipped the beast are subject to due torment, such as in Psalm 60:3 and Psalm 75:8. The Greek used here to describe God s anger, orgē, is translated indignation. This denotes the kind of anger that rises out of a settled disposition, an accurate description of the wrath of God. l This wine is full strength as it is not broken down in any way, and the torment itself is with fire and sulfur, a symbol of judgment upon those who are unbelievers. This is done in the presence of the Lamb, meaning that those who denied Christ will be forced to acknowledge Him as they are punished justly in His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Investigating The Hardness Of River Tank And Tap Water Water Hardness EEI The aim of this investigation is to use a quantitative method to determine the hardness of river, tank and tap water. Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate, therefore it was the softest of the water samples. This investigation proved the hypothesis and the quantitative method used worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Avoid Uncompressing Image Data 2.3. Memory usage The memory usage of image object is a key factor for a program using image files, because normally a Bitmap object expands image data in memory and the size of memory is usually significant as it is directly related to the dimension of the image. 2.3.1. Avoid uncompressing image data However, the first thing worth to discuss is that the Image.FromStream() has a different approach than other means to load an image file into memory, that makes it is possible to not expand the compressed image data in memory. This can make an enormous difference when the raw size is much larger than the compressed size, such as a JPEG image file of a large dimension with many chunks of same color. The key is using the static method of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this feature, using clone() method is super fast and it can save significant memory comparing to duplicate with new Bitmap(). However, clone() method will share file lock if the original one was created as new Bitmap(filename), just like to create a new Bitmap object with the constructor. The second method is to use Bitmap(Bitmap) constructor to create a duplicate. The duplicated object has separate memory and does not hold file lock as the original object might have. A test of simple image file shows this method is slower than loading from file directly. 2.4. Capturing a control to a bitmap It is very useful to capture image data of a control or a form into a bitmap object. The key is to use the DrawToBitmap() method of the control or the form. The method is defined in both System.Windows.Forms.Control and System.Windows.Forms.Form, so all subclasses of them have the same function, such as Label, Button, PictureBox, and Dialogs. The following code snippet is a demo of using the method to capture a control into a bitmap. The code to capture a form into a bitmap is almost the same as above. 2.5. Each supported format is defined as a static property in ImageFormat class in namespace System.Drawing.Imaging (MSDN, n.d. d). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, in knowing the demands of the market and in its attempt to meet it, they therefore acquired Tetley which not only was a brand with global appeal, but at the same time provided them access to the market in both the developed and emerging markets, thereby reducing dependency on one geography. • 15. Lady With An Erine Analysis Lady With an Ermine In his portrait Lady with an Ermine, Leonardo da Vinci s innovative detail to composition, chiaroscuro, and symbolism allows the emergence of a new style of portraiture. In the book Leonardo da Vinci: The Marvellous Works of Nature and Man, Kemp demonstrates his knowledge on Leonardo s portrait through stylistic analysis and historical input. Shell and Sironi presents their article Cecilia Gallerani: Leonardo s Lady with an Ermine, through studies in the identification of the painting. The authors of the article study physical and historical features of the painting to create meaning. Through the analysis of stylistic features and examination of history, the meaning of the Lady with an Ermine can be uncovered as a portrait with poetic vitality and aristocratic value. The portrait Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci [Fig. 1], displays a young lady known as Cecilia Gallerani with an ermine on her lap. Cecilia s head tilts to the side and the line of her eyes follows as she gazes away from the beholder. The positioning of her head and eyes create a mysterious atmosphere around her. She seems dignified through the divergence of her eyes from the beholder. Furthermore, her body is slanted towards the beholder while her head slants in the opposite direction. The composition of her body seems to be engaging with the beholder but her her gaze indicates no interest. The distance between the beholder and her indicates that one can only admire her from afar. The ermine sits gracefully in Cecilia s arms and its eyes also diverts away. The ermine tilts its head to his right, opposite of Cecilia. The different angles of their heads reflects the dynamics and movement of the portrait. Therefore, the portrait does not feel stiff but rather lively. Another feature of this portrait is the use of Chiaroscuro and its ability to make the portrait look realistic. The light source coming from the left side illuminates Cecilia s skin against the dark background. The light brightens the entire left side of Cecilia and the ermine, meanwhile creating shadows on the right side of her body. The shadows, however, are soft like reflected light. The reflected light has intensity on the bright parts of her body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Physical Fitness And Mental Fitness One of the most well known facts in the field of health and psychology is that physical fitness indeed increases one s mental activity and increases mental fitness. This fact has been proved through decades worth of careful and dedicated research on the mind body connection that exists in human beings. However, while this might be an accepted fact, scholars these days are still being surprised with new discoveries, including how exercising affects the brain and how do these benefits happen to be. Perhaps one of the most common misconceptions about the brain is that it is a muscle (Edlund, 2013). However, basic anatomy would show that despite containing a little bit of muscle, the brain is mostly composed of white and grey matters, which are responsible for the transmission of electrical impulses through a series of chemical reactions. From these series of transmissions, the electrical impulses become responsible for information transmission throughout the whole body (Godman, 2014). However, one of the more apparent differences here is that while muscle develops through physical exertion, the brain does not. And, being a well known fact, this led to many people thinking that in order to improve one s mental well being, the best thing to do is to read books, engage in puzzles, and do things that would directly affect your brain. Most subsidies to higher education accrue predominantly to the better off sections of society as they have an overwhelming advantage in competing out prospective candidates from the poorer sections in getting admission to courses that are characterised by scarcity of seats. The TVPA provides a maximum five year penalty for those who unlawfully destroy, conceal, remove, confiscate, or possess another s official documents. It also permits a court to require a defendant to pay restitution to a victim of human trafficking for the full amount of the victim s losses as determined by a court. Despite this support for Hindenburg personally at the home front, support for the war itself was dwindling, and after General Ludendorf s failed spring offensive, the situation seemed hopeless for the German military. With conditions on the home front worsening, and realising the dire situation Germany faced in the war, on the 29th September 1918; General Hindenburg, General Ludendorf and the Kaiser Wilhelm II agreed to establish a new democratic government in Germany to replace the current form of government. Evan and Winsome are described as New Age hippies and over friendly . Their dress reminds me of how a choir robe would look. This conclusion comes from a reflection on past classes of people that were similarly oppressed. Mill looks at similar situations throughout history where one certain group was dominant over another submissive group such as free vs. slave, white vs. black, etc. Mill states but if the principle is true, we ought to act as if we believed it, and not to ordain that to be born a girl instead of a boy, any more than to be born black instead of white, or a ... They were expected to do nothing more but to marry, bear children, and give up much of their time to their families. In most cases they could not pursue a formal education, own property, vote, or even seek a divorce from an abusive husband. Women lived by having to follow the rules of their masters, their husbands. Mill s case for women s equality reflects his Utilitarian roots. The subjection of women, he argues, is not only wrong in itself but one of the chief hindrances to human improvement. By denying women the same opportunities as men, he says, society not only hinders the development of roughly half the population but denies itself the benefit of their talents. The fact that men are typically superior to women in physical strength leads to the assumption that men are superior to women in all areas, despite the fact that there is no proof to support this claim.
