Informative Essay On Ice Skating
Ice skating, one of which difficult for a lot of people to master just in the matter of a year or so. Most
people usually spend their whole lives trying to perfect different techniques to their art. Competitive
ice skating usually an elegant dance that is performed in a specific amount of time to be judged on.
Sounds easy right? Well easier said than done. Getting to the top of a competition and eventually
being the best involves much practice (Farris). Olympic Skaters have a diet they have to stick to
everyday to maintain their body for endurance, agility and stamina. Plus, when skaters want to debut,
they start at the very bottom. Ice skaters have to take what are called Skating tests and what that is, in
short, count towards a competitive resume to which if their resume isn t built up enough (like a job),
they can t compete in certain events. When skaters do have a good resume to back them up and go into
competitions skaters now have a chance to debut and show off to national / olympic teams. Really
how they do that is they go to numerous competitions and win or show off ... Show more content on

First off, Nancy Kerrigan was born in Massachusetts on October 13, 1969. She showed her talent for
skating on the ice at a young age. But that s not all she did, how she came around to skating in the first

tagged along with her brothers to the neighborhood ice rink while they played hockey, becoming a self
described tomboy. (Biography). At age six, when she went from being a tomboy to a figure skater,

Individual Vs Utilitarianism
It is believed that the utilitarian concept does not allow for an individual to invoke what they feel is
their God given right because utilitarianism is mainly concerned with achieving the greatest good for
the majority of people with little concern about the individual . Based on this theory, it would be in the
highest order to actually infringe on an individual s rights so as to benefit the greater population. This
theory is rarely ever concerned with justice, benevolence, egocentricity, or independence of a single
person if the outcome does not benefit the greater amount of people
First let us further examine what is defined as utilitarianism. Utilitarianism states that ever act should
comply with the principle of utility. It points out what we ought to do and what we shall do. It also,
pushes for the most pleasure, with the least pain, for the majority of people involved. Why do people
make certain choices? Utilitarianism states that we are now slaves to pain and pleasure and knowing
the balance between the two will assist in knowing what choices others will make. While with a
utilitarian mindset, making moral decisions based on God given rights are no longer as important as
decisions based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of self preservation, self protection, self acknowledgement, self fulfillment, self regard is
pretty taboo if one is to be aligned with this line of thinking. Dream fulfillment is not an ideology of
this theory. There is no place for super heroes or those who seek to do good for personal gain. The
individual always has to have others on his/her mind and consider how the outcome would affect the
whole. They do good without justification and/or qualification. Even if nothing is accomplished,
happiness was achieved. As mentioned above, utilitarianism is done to solely reach the maximum
goal. It is not focused on justice if oppressing the individual leads to a solution that benefits the most

How Theme Shapes a Story

Running Head: Theme page 1
Like many people who haven t studied literature, if someone asked me what the theme of a story was,
I would have given a synopsis of the story detailing the actions and characters in it. As I have come to
learn, theme is much more than a distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning.
The theme focuses the story and is the behind the scenes force that propels the story forward. In other
words it gives the story purpose and shape. Theme will attempt to hold all the elements of your story

She furthers uses an image like the missing pine trees, which are a symbol of immortality, to bring to
life the understanding that death has arrived. When Rhys uses cold the reader and the character herself
realize the meaning of the journey death. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that
the journey has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story. According to
our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask how do characters make a
particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston, R 2010) This is a good place to start when
looking at Rhys story. The author used the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the
story. The author also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the
theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she doesn t need a
body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she is leading us on this journey. As
the character reaches the end her journey, we as the reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the
end of the story so the reader begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning.

Wto Is The Acronym Of World Trade Organization
WTO is the acronym of World Trade Organization that was established in January 1995. According to
the World Trade Agreement, the objectives of the WTO are to: Increase standards of living for its
members Attainment of full employment The growth of real income and effective demands The
expansion of production of and trade in goods and services. Although these are some of the objectives,
there are some limitations to these objectives, which makes it difficult for some participating
countries, while making things better for some countries. There are two ways a in which a country can
become a member of the WTO. 1. Original membership Under Article XI of the WTO agreement,
allowed contracting parties who were a member of GATT 1947 to join the WTO by accepting the
terms and conditions set by the WTO agreements and the Multilateral Trade Agreements (MTA). The
second way of becoming a member of WTO is not that simple. There is a process in which applying
countries must follow. This is through accession as set out in Article XII of the WTO agreement. This
agreement states most importantly that A) Any state or separate custom territory possessing autonomy
in the conduct of its external commercial relations and the other matters provided for in this agreement
and the multilateral trade agreement may accede to this agreement on the terms to be agreed between
it and the WTO . B) Decision on accession shall be taken by the Ministerial Conference. The

The Effects of War Shown in Louise Erdrich s The Red...
The Effects of War Shown in Louise Erdrich s The Red Convertible
It is always said that war changes people. In the short story The Red Convertible , Louise Erdrich uses
Henry to show how it affects people. In this case, the effects are psychological. You can clearly see a
difference between his personalities from before he goes to war compared to his personalities after
returns home from the war. Before the war, he is a care free soul who just likes to have fun. After the
war, he is very quiet and defensive, always watching his back as if waiting for someone to strike.
The first and most obvious change in behavior is shown by comparing Henry?s actions when they

(Sutton). Instead of just having fun and telling jokes, he is very quiet and keeps to himself. He acts as
if he is waiting to be ambushed.
Another major change brought by the war is a change in Henry?s personality. Before the war, he was
always a jokester and just seemed to go with the flow. When Henry and Lyman picked up the girl
named Susy, they asked her where she lived. ?We?ll take you home,? I says. ?Where do you live?? ?
Chicken,? she says. ?Where the hell?s that?? I ask her. ?Alaska.? ?Okay,? says Henry, and we drive.
(366)
They didn?t have a plan. This gave them a destination and they went with it. Henry also showed his
silly side when Susy showed them her long hair. He asked her to jump on his shoulders. Once she did
it he declared, ?I always wondered what it was like to have long pretty hair? (366). This all ended
when Henry got drafted. Lyman compared the old Henry to the new one. ?He?d always had a joke
then, too, and now you couldn?t get him to laugh, or when he did it was more the sound of a man
choking, a sound that stopped up the throats of other people around him? (367). Henry?s attitude had
done a complete one eighty. He was the exact opposite of his old self. According to Lyman, ?Henry
was jumpy and mean.? (367)
War takes a toll on people; the intensity varies from person to person. In Henry?s case, the toll was
very heavy. The Henry before the war was the opposite of the post war

We know moms struggle to get their kids to eat well, and we believe our message provides a reminder
that the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch has the power to encourage kids to eat their vegetables ( New
Hidden Valley Ad ). A recent study at the University of California shows that kids ate 23 percent more
vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing ( New Hidden Valley Ad ). This
visual advertisement published in multiple target advertising markets such as the June 2008 volume of
Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents, especially moms, who worry about their children s
diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley
uses a common photography strategy in the advertisement known as encapsulation. Encapsulation is a
classic technique used to hijack your visitor s eyes and create a tunnel vision effect, preventing your
eye from wondering somewhere else in the photo (Gardner). Hidden Valley creates the picture in a
way that makes you look at the ranch being used on the broccoli, almost as if making your eyes focus
in on that particular spot. The ad uses association to connect the viewer to the message of the ad.
When advertisers use association, they attempt to associate their product with the people, values and
lifestyles depicted in the ads. Associations are positive and

Diversity of Marine Algae in the Biosphere 2 Ocean Essay
Diversity of Marine Algae in the Biosphere 2Ocean
Red algae, Rhodophyta, is easily identified in the marine environment because it appears as a red
color. There are many different species, originating from many different corners of the Earth. The
ocean biome in the Biosphere 2 was constructed using raw seawater off the coast of Southern
California, which contained many different unknown species of algae. During the construction of the
biome, other known species of algae from various marine environments, Gulf of Mexico and Hawaii,
were also introduced into the ocean. Research is continuing to be conducted on all various algae
species in the Biosphere 2, to determine the diversity of the marine algae. Two red algae species, ...

Environmental Research Lab, Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science at the University
of Arizona. The duration of this study is from September, 1999 through August, 2004. Algae samples
from all locations within the marine biome of the Biosphere 2 are to be collected in three to four
months cycles, identified, dried and weighed. Total biomass accumulations for each species will be

objective of taxonomic collections is to represent the natural population in size and form. Therefore, it
is important to collect a representative sample of specimens (seasonally), being careful to collect the
entire plant (including the holdfast) as well as representative plants from various habitats. Noting
information about the habitat for the label may be as important as the specimen itself?? (Tsuda, 1985).

Have you ever encountered a heroin user or even known one? If you did you probably knew very little

Jersey told reporters about her story, I was a high profile model and intravenous heroin addict. I

generating a false sense of well being. I loved heroin. Addicts who say I hate heroin are lying to

On a molecular level, heroin binds and activitives receptors called mu opioid receptors (MORs). These
receptors contain neurotransmitters that are part of the reward center of the brain. When the MORs
release the neurotransmitters the body is rewarded with pleasure and well being. (What Effects) The
amount of pleasure that the body feels is by how strong and where the opiate is put into the body. So
ultimately the brain becomes addicted to pleasure that the body is feeling.
In a short term perspective the user talks about a rush of pleasure. Depending on the the intensity of
the rush show how fast the drug enters the brain and binds to the MORs. With heroin, the rush can be
associated with flush and warm skin, heavy sensation of extremities, reduced feeling of pain, and
drowsiness. Sometimes these effects can also come with vomiting, itching and dry mouth. After
several hours of the initial effects the user body slows. This includes the heart, mind and breathing,
which can be life threatening. (What Effects) If slowed enough the user could fall into a coma causing
severe brain damage.
Long term or repeated heroin abuse changes the bodies physical appearance, brain functions and
hormonal balance that cannot be

Differences Between Cadbury And Woburn Safari Park Ltd
Activity 1
Action Plan
What I want to achieve when I do my coursework is that I understand the differences and similarities
between the two businesses. I am going to do this is by using my own knowledge and the internet and
on various occasions my classroom notes. This should take me a while to complete as I would be
going in depth about information and expanding on key points. I will be including different ideas that
I have discovered.
The businesses I have chosen to discuss are Cadbury Plc and Woburn Safari Park ltd. I have chosen
these two businesses as they are different in both what they offer and who they target. Cadbury is
international and Woburn Safari Park is local to where I live.
Introduction
The purpose or this assessment is for me to compare and contrast the following two, Woburn Safari
Park and Cadburys plc. Now to start off with I will be providing useful information on both Cadburys
and Woburn; defining the definition of a business. A business is an organization where goods and
services are exchanged for one another or for money. Cadburys plc is a multinational company which
produces products such as chocolates, drinks and milkshakes. On the other hand, Woburn Safari Park
entertains tourists and pedestrians with their variety of different animals you can interact with and
witness at a live safari!

CONCLUSION
My Life is a Web site that will be updated a few times a year, especially following important family
events such as new babies, marriages, and other events that I participate in. This means that there will
be more photographs and text that will be added over time. It is my hope that anyone of any age will
be able to access and navigate easily throughout my Web site as it grows.
James J. Cappel and Zhenyu Huang wrote, web usability is a broad concept that encompasses many
aspects of design including a Web site s presentation, its navigation features, and its functionality or
usefulness to visitors (Cappel amp; Huang, 2007). I have kept these attributes in mind as a created My

Cigarettes don t only cause lung cancers but can also cause other problems to the heart and blood

Emphysema is a disease that robs a person of their ability to breathe. This disease is terminal and it
kills you. It destroys a little bit of your lungs at a time so you don t even realize there is problem.
Patients who have emphysema can survive for many years with the help of oxygen tanks and special

for having many farms spread out throughout the state, especially in Coos County. Because of this,
many bugs come to survive off of the crops that grow here. If bugs keep eating the plants, then the
quality of the crop will go down. It s not just bugs that come to live off the plants, it is also animals
like deer, bears, moose, and many more. All of these pests coming to steal and eat the plants can cause
the land to lose moisture and lower the quality as well. This has affected the farming community

The Asperger Syndrome (RTT)
About Asperger Syndrome
The disorder is named after Hans Asperger, a Viennese pediatrician who, in 1944, first described a set
of behavior patterns apparent in some of his patients, mostly males. Asperger noticed that although
these boys had normal intelligence and language development, they had severely impaired social
skills, were unable to communicate effectively with others, and had poor coordination.
According to the Asperger Syndrome Coalition of the United States, the onset of AS may be later than
what is typical in autism or at least it is recognized later. Many kids are diagnosed after age 3, with
most diagnosed between the ages of 5 and 9.

Onset occurs between 6 and 18 months of age.[9] During this time there are subtle developmental
deviations and early indicators of Rett syndrome. A period of developmental stagnation is followed by
developmental regression where language and motor milestones regress, purposeful hand use is lost,
and acquired deceleration in the rate of head growth (resulting in microcephaly in some) is seen. Hand
stereotypes are typical, and breathing irregularities such as hyperventilation, breathholding, or sighing
are seen in many. Early on, autistic like behavior may be seen. The infant with Rett syndrome often
avoids detection until 6 18 months, owing to a relatively normal appearance and some developmental
progress. However, closer scrutiny reveals disturbance of the normal spontaneous limb and body
movements that are thought to be regulated in the brainstem. The brief period of developmental
progress is followed by stagnation and regression of previously acquired skills. During regression,
some features are similar to those of autism. It is, hence, easy to mistakenly diagnose Rett syndrome

Inside Russia s Toughest Prisons Analysis
The documentary Inside Russia s Toughest Prisons directed by Anna Rodzinski gives Americans and
other nations an inside view of how The Soviet Union treats prisoners more severely and unusually
compared to the prisons in America and how this treatment affects the prisoners mental and physical
state; in order to do this Rodzinski shows the audience gruesome videos of prisoners being held down,
suspenseful music and terrifying images of towering prison buildings surrounded with barbed wires
and guard dogs; some of the most dangerous inmates are even interviewed.
The first scene of the documentary are the inmates arriving to Black Dolphin Prison immediately
guards force the prisoners to wear handcuffs and are held down below the waist with most of the
guards armed leading the prisoners to the cells. Rodzinski uses this scene to show the audience how
the guards treat the inmates without mercy or pity; to the guards this is a routine they must follow
mechanically and the convicts are seen as animals. One of the guards even mentions, I ve never felt
any sympathy for them, The Prisoners at Black Dolphin are isolated and the audience can see this in

Corn-Fed Beef Vs Corn
In the society today, most people eat more of organic food to food produced with chemicals. This
means people rely on products that are 100 percent natural. One of the most natural food eaten by
Americans is meat. As a matter of fact, most of the meat eaten today originates from cattle. To make
maters worst, it has issues when it comes to production. In most feed yards, cattle s are fed grain to
grow fatter and bigger before being slaughtered, the conditions are terrible and horrifying. Thing
brought up a lot of questions within me. I wondered why cattle s deviated from eating grass to corn

The law of demand says that the higher the price, the lower the quantity demanded, and the lower the
price, the higher the quantity demanded. According to the food market sector, grass fed beef is higher
than cattle raised by grain. Therefore, because of the high competition placed on corn fed beef, the
price of grass fed beef remains low. The famers also cause the low price of grass fed beef, in the sense
that they try to compete with the famers of corn fed beef. However many of the famers seem to ignore
the price of raising the cattle. The cost of these beef affects the environment. Firstly, this beef causes
pollution as a result of CAFOS. The waste product produced from CAFOS are mostly realized into the
river, stream, and lake. The waste product contains ammonia, this gas has an unpleasant odor, which
can be detectable even at low concentrations. When it contains a high concentration, it becomes
harmful to vegetation. When this gas is flushed into a water body, it is more serious, because it is very
toxic to aquatic organisms. However, with this it gradually degrade the environment and all its natural
value. This is caused by the food the cattle is raised with grain (WBGH Education Foundation).
Amount spent on antibiotics for these cattle is another most avoidable matter. Health wise, the cost of
making the cattle grow quickly from different methods of feeding, destroys the immune system of the
animal. Because of the bacteria that is caused by these method. In other words, whatever disease an
animal has, will transfer to his/her prey. That means it also can affect the human system. Not just
affecting but also destroying it leading the person to death. E. coli (Escherichia coli 0157: H7), is an
example of the disease that can be transferred from the cattle to his/ her prey. When boosting the cattle
immune system, microbes becomes resistant, more antibiotics are used to reduce this. All this and
many more add to

radiation from the sun, but why does this happen? Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is built up,
then rapidly released at once, during, the sun gives off generous amounts of X and gamma rays.
Strangely enough the energy of a solar flare is ten million times that of a volcanic eruption, but only

Decentralized Generation Of Electricity Case
In The Case for Decentralized Generation of Electricity , Thomas Casten and Brennan Downes
summarize an extensive research that Casten and a team of researches went through in order to
develope a new, more economically efficient, source of generating power. Casten and Downes
incorporated past and present statistics of electricity generation in order to prove to the reader that
they are determined to search for new power sources and also that they are reliable sources of
information. What the research team came up with was central generation which are a network of
power stations with each power station being able to distribute power and energy locally to numerous
buildings and homes within the vicinity. By writing this article, Casten and ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, unlike the previous reading we did where the reader could take what they learned and
incorporate it into their daily lives, I do not feel that this article can be followed immediately nor can it
be applied on an individual basis due to the scale that is needed to go through. The concept of
decentralized generation of electricity, also known as distributed generation, is something that only
power plants and other large industrial corporations can fully put to use because they are in control of
how our energy is disbursed between households and businesses. The only thing that we as the reader
can get from this article is the idea that recycling energy will eventually be what saves the economy.
The way that we use power and energy now is expensive and waste more money than it really needs
to. By reading this article, I have understood that if we were to start using recycled energy instead of
allowing it to go to waste like we do on a daily basis, we could save millions of dollars which could be
used in other ways to further advance our lifestyles. If there was anything that we, as the readers,
could do to have this method implemented to recycle energy, it would probably have to be sending
letters in order to try and convince the government to consider implementing

Essay on Structure Of The Lost Honour O
Heinrich Böll uses his novel, The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum, to attack modern journalistic ethics
as well as the values of contemporary Germany. The structure of this novel is important to conveying
his message. He uses a police report format, differences in chapter lengths, narrator or author
intervention, a subtitle, and the extensive use of the puddle metaphor. All these things contribute
towards the message in the text.
The puddle metaphor is the most significant device used in the structure of the novel. The puddle ;
means the collective information from all the sources. The narrator speaks of the information as fluid
and he also talks of the conduction of the information coming from these different sources. There are

Around this time is the celebratory period of Carnival. However there is no hint of any celebratory
moods in the tone. It is all extremely formal. It can be said that the format of this book is related to
how Katharina Blum herself lives her life. The possible reason that this story is set in this police report
format is that Heinrich Böll wants the reader to know the facts since all the facts come together in the
end. The story uses flashbacks so the reader knows what is happening somewhere else at the same
time. It could be said that the reader is finding out all this information in the same order as the police
investigation. It seems that the information is scattered and, just like the police, the reader has to try
and piece together the puzzle. However, this is all done for the reader in the end. This is another
example of how the puddle metaphor is used. The information scattered means that the channel is
always changing course.
The tone of this story, and even the text itself says that this is a police report, but the use of short and
long chapters could possibly suggest something different. In the short chapters there are little bursts of
action, whilst in the longer chapters it goes into far more detail. This is like a newspaper in a way, the
headlines with the bursts of action, and the pages the story is continued on go into more detail,
however, this reasoning is probably incorrect since the author is trying

The Story Of A Bedroom
In a bedroom, a girl lies still on her bed. She is clothed in her pajamas and a robe as if she didn t quite
finish getting ready for bed. She is rolled over on her side, her arms and legs bound with rope and her
eyes staring blankly at the pink wall in front of her that is now speckled with blood. Her blood. There
is a hole in the back of her head where a bullet pierced through her skull. In another room, a woman
has her hands and feet bound tightly with rope. She is also dressed in her pajamas, but she has
adhesive tape wrapped around her mouth. Her dead eyes look horrified as if they are staring at the
killer who took her life away. She has a bullet wound on the side of her head. In the basement, a boy is
found lying on a couch. He is gagged and bound like the woman upstairs. His head is propped up by
pillows and a ghastly hole decorates the middle of his forehead where a bullet embedded itself in his
skull. In the furnace room, a man is found lying on top of a mattress box. He is bound and gagged like
two of the previous victims. However, his is the most gruesome murder the most macabre murder. He
did have a gunshot wound on the front of his head, but he was probably already dead (or at least
dying) when that deadly injury was inflicted. That is because his throat was slit. These four cold
blooded murders are the reason Truman Capote wrote the book, In Cold Blood. The Clutters were the

The Japanese Culture Of Japan
The Japanese are a nation with a culture influenced by many yet uniquely Japanese and connected to
their past. They retain strong ties to their early legends, religions, and traditions while continuing to
progress with the rest of the world. With these ideas that have been passed down and preserved, there
have also been forms of dance and music that have been influenced by other countries, made uniquely
Japanese, and continued through today.
The Japanese people as we know them today were not the original inhabitants of the land. The native
people, the Ainu, were hunters and fishermen closer in resemblance to Caucasians. There is now only
a small group of them residing in the Northern section of Japan. The Japanese people are believed,
based on physical characteristics as well as language, to originate from central Asia. Movement from
mainland Asia continued throughout the history of Japan and played a large role in how their culture
developed. The country consists of four large islands all of which are lush and mountainous. The
people of Japan have survived because of their developments in agriculture, supplemented by their
fishing capabilities (Morton 6). Japanese religious ideas and beliefs have a root in Shinto, a
naturalistic religion with a focus in animism. Early Shinto legends express that the land was created
by, then inhabited by the gods Izanagi and Izanami. When Izanami died while giving birth to the Fire
God, Izanagi went to the underworld to retrieve her, only

Thus, Mahesh Dattani excels in art and craft as well as symbolic exuberances and imagery. To him,

One Green Apple Chapter Summary
One Green Apple tells the story of Farrah a young immigrant and her second day of school in the new
country. Speaking no English, Farrah is dropped off at an apple orchid with her classmates and
marvels at the differences and similarities between her and the other children as they ride in a hay
wagon. Stopping near a bunch of apple trees, Farrah understands that they are to pick one apple. As
the teacher slowly yet kindly tries to explain what to do to her, Farrah wishes that she could tell the
teacher that she understands but does not know the words. As her classmates pick the ripe red fruit
from the trees, Farrah finds a small green apple that is different and alone as she is. As the group drops

What Are The Characteristics Of The Individuals In This
What are the characteristics of the individuals in this case study? Carla, her husband, and their
children were all born in a small coastal mining town. Carla s parents died when she was young and
she was left to her older aunt who was illiterate, this lead to a weakening in Carla s educational ability.
Carla is shown to be determined and this is evident through the sole parenting of her two children
from an early age. Carla s husband sustains a head injury at work but failed to report it or seek
treatment, demonstrating his lack of confidence in his work environment, perhaps due to a fear of
being dismissed.

The case study is set in a small coastal mining town. From this arise factors of limited employment
opportunities, lower income, and populations in rural areas are often far from hospitals and other
essential facilities.
Carla s husband became forgetful after he sustained the head injury and later developed depression.
Carla provides care for her ex husband in times of crisis, which shows the support of one person to
another.
When Carla s children were younger, she and her neighbours would share childcare duties and work
opposite shifts. Without the mine, other businesses in town turned over and many of her lifelong
friends left town. This would have left Carla without the option and availability to work the shifts she
once did, because she did not have the access to the babysitting.
When Carla s children grew up, they moved to the city. This left Carla isolated in a town where many
of her lifelong friends had left and her children had now also moved in search of employment. People
are always a phone call away, however person to person contact is essential in maintaining healthy
social relationships. Working conditions are affected by factors including health and safety, security
and working hours. Carla s husband began working for a casual employer after the mine was made

believed there were only two types of orangutan, one that dwells on Sumatra, and one on Borneo

Social Benefits Of Physical Education Essay
The social emotional, cognitive and physical benefits of physical activity
During childhood our body and mind changes very fast. I believe that nowadays parents focus more
on the brain developement of their children than their physical activity. When I was a little girl over 20
years ago we spent most of our time outside playing, running and enjoying fresh air and being in
movement. Physical activity of children can secure them health and well being in their adulthood as
well as teach them a lot of very importants aspects like social relations and behaviors in different
situations.
Now I see that a lot of children spend their time at home or at after school activities that don t involve

Types and contexts of activities are variable and change with age during childhood and adolescence.
Activities of children aged 6 to 9 years are largely anaerobic (as in non sustained activities or games
such as tag ), and they help the child learn basic and more specialized motor skills. As youth move
into the pubertal transition (about age 10 14 years, earlier in girls than in boys), these skills are
incorporated into a variety of individual and group activities and many organized sports. Mature
structure and function are approached or attained in late adolescence (age 15 18 years), so that
physical activity programs can be more structured.
Physical activity has not only physical benefits. It also has a very big impact on social emotional and
cognitive aspects of child s live. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The
development of a physically active lifestyle is a goal for all children. Traditional team and competitive
sports may promote healthy activity for selected youth. Individual sports, noncompetitive sports,
lifetime sports, and recreational activities expand the opportunity for activity to everyone. The
opportunity to be active on a regular basis, as well as the enjoyment and competence gained from
activity, may increase the chances that a physically active lifestyle will be adopted.
Team sports for example not only provide physical activity for children. They also introduce them to
the meaning of teamwork and ability

NPO what is also important is that who writes the mission statement. Considering only senior
management or executives could be one answer, but I believe that since a NPO does most of its
operational work largely through volunteers and less through employees, it becomes important to have
representation of this constituency as well. The closer the mission statement is to what these
volunteers considers is important for their end customers, the more likely is the high quality of the
output and easier to continue recruiting volunteers. However, since many of the large NPO that we

mission statements in the context of emerging needs of the customers every 20 30 years. This doesn t
imply major shifts in the mission statement, but indicates adding newer dimensions/nuances to the
same by evaluating: * Is the mission up to date? Does it reflect what the

The rhythm section consists of the piano by Paul Mertz, drums by Tommy Gargano, and banjo by
Howdy Quicksell. Throughout the piece, the cornet, which is accompanied by the clarinet, plays the
main tune as the trombone and piano keep the tempo like a bass. The piano plays the chords as the
trombone plays consistent quarter notes which helps the whole ensemble keep time. The Davenport
Blues introduction begins sounding somewhat homophonic. It sounded homophonic because the
cornet and clarinet begin by playing the same melody but at different pitches. The melody in the intro
sounds a little broken up and unorganized. But then we begin to hear the verses becoming somewhat
reminiscent of the New Orleans style, which is known for its collective improvisation and polyphony.
Polyphony is clearly heard in the three different melodies played simultaneously by the cornet,
clarinet, and trombone in the Davenport Blues verses. The instruments in the Davenport Blues
generally have the same interactions that a New Orleans ensemble would have. The cornet, for
instance, plays the melody while the clarinet plays a countermelody drawn from the underlying chord
progression. The trombone fills out the ensemble with another countermelody, but plays fewer notes
than the clarinet. Finally, the rhythm section provides a steady pulse and lays down the harmonies for
each measure. The instrumentation is also typical of a New

Truth Commission Reports in Argentina and Chile
In the late 20th century, the South American countries of Argentina and Chile went through two
considerably turbulent periods of violent clashes between governmental and military forces against
native citizens. These clashes not only caused severe damage within both communities but also led to
specific reconciliation recommendations by truth commission committees set out in Núnca Mas and
the Rettig Report. These specific recommendations not only aided in the reconciliation process but
also helped in the social, and political, development of both Argentinian and Chilean society. These
reports were translated into multiple languages; recorded scores of people, who were hurt both
physically and psychologically by these terrors, and mostly allowed for those with no voice to be
heard not only by the countries involved, but by the world as a whole. In the end, the Argentinian and
Chilean people effected by these atrocities not only were given the option of knowing the history of
their countries, but ultimately the ability to feel protected and valued in the places they were hurt
most. With the aide of truth commission report recommendations the societies effected were given a
new chance at healing and rehabilitating their country, which mostly was destroyed both physically
and mentally. These reports not only give a direct and unabridged version of the story of the conflict,
but also gave the victims of these countries, as well as the world, one history they can all be agreed

eCommerce Strategy
Introduction In this assignments I will discuss internet customer expectation and how much they differ
from high street customers, the potential impact of ecommerce applications and planning and
managing an ecommerce strategy. I will also discuss the risk of linking business systems to the
internet.
Impact of e Commerce on business
Internet customers expect to have 24/7 service that is quick and easy with little to no contact with
human members of staff. Speed is key. Maintaining a quick and high performing website is integral to
ecommerce success, particularly during high demand times. Internet customers will become frustrated
quickly if access is slow or not attainable and so will give up and try another rival business due to the
ease of being able to visit multiple competitors within minutes. Surveys have shown that customers
get frustrated with e commerce sites due to pop up adds, difficulty with finding specific items, service
isn t as good as in the actual store and the service isn t personalised. For ecommerce businesses,
customer expectations have become very high. They want cheaper products, in good condition with a
quick delivery time and good customer service if they were to come into contact with an employee.
When a business becomes a click business or adds on to an existing brick, then their target customers
increases and could become global, whereas with solely a brick business their customers are restricted

There are several business organizations operating around the world, competition is at its peak,
products and services offered are so closely similar that identifying the difference between them is
difficult, but there is only one way differentiation is made in today s market, in the larger prospective,
and that differentiation is the difference in quality offered. Ali et al., (2010) points, out that the
properties of a service or product that the buyer or user purchases and the value given to it by them is
the quality of that product or service. Koch (2003) suggests that quality is a process of developing a

stakeholders implied needs. It is here where the real market is, real competition, customers, profits,
market share and success lies. Organizations that deliver quality are always desired by their customers.

when Nazi Germany and its Allies fought the Soviet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The birth of the Blitzkrieg, meaning lightning war was a term used to describe the fast passed surprise
attacks of the German Army during World War Two. The Blitzkrieg military tactic was intended to
create psychological shock and subsequent inefficiency in the enemy forces. This tactic was victorious
for more than two years through the employment of surprise, speed and superiority in materiel of
firepower. In a reliable primary source, British army officer, military historian and strategist, Major
General Fuller stated, Speed, and still more speed, and always speed was the secret...and that
demanded audacity, more audacity and always audacity. (Kaplan, 2015, page 38). This proves that
Nazi Germany s success using the tactic at the beginning of the Second World War was largely due to
that fact that it was the only country that had effectively linked its forces with radio communications.
Together with the use of movement, shock and locally concentrated firepower, Germany skillfully
corresponded attacks that paralysed the opponents capacity to organise defenders, rather than
attempting to physically overcome them allowing the opponents to disturb the system of
administration and communications. The Blitzkrieg tactics, disrupted the main enemy s battle position

Energy Drinks Vs Energy Drink Research
When we started our research project, I had tons and tons of ideas of what I could research. All these
ideas were like new tabs opening and exploding in my brain, then it came to me, Energy Drinks. My
parents very rarely let me have a Red Bull or a Monster Energy, and I hoped that by researching more
about the drink, I would find the answer to why they have restricted this drink from me. On the first
day of research, I only knew three things, 1: they are bad for your health 2: they have high amounts of
caffeine and 3: they are packed with sugar. Most people already know these things about energy
drinks, but I wanted to go a step further and find out what really happens when you take a sip of Red
Bull. By choosing this topic, I hoped to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By researching, I am now aware of what the short term and long term effects of consumption of
caffeine. I had hoped to research more on the ingredients but I found the main ingredients and looked
more into the effects the give off. What can we do to help stop the bad effects that energy drinks have
on us? We could petition to the stores and have them cut back on their sales, talk to the company s and
the government and have them remove the labeling that is targeted at kids. The last thing we can do is
educate everyone around on on just how bad energy drinks are. This information is very helpful to me
because it will help me make better decisions the next time I want an energy drink. Together, we can

The Epidemic Of Dengue Fever
The holiday season tends to attract Canadians to visiting warmer destinations in the hopes of escaping
our frigid winter weather. These warmer destinations, like the Caribbean, have much to offer; with
balmy tropical weather, hot beaches, ocean views, and plenty of sun. Unfortunately, along with the
luxuries of these areas comes with the risk of an array of tropical diseases, such as dengue fever. The
thought of contracting this illness is not ideal for the perfect winter getaway but is beginning to
become a somber reality with the dramatic increase of incidences in tropical climates globally. Dengue
fever, also historically known as break bone fever, is caused by the dengue virus and is endemic in
tropical areas around the world. If severe, the illness can progress to more serious conditions,
including dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Dengue fever is emerging as a
major global concern as an estimated 2.5 billion people are at risk and an increasing trend in annual
number of cases over recent reported years (1,2). The dengue virus (DENV) is a small, positive,
enveloped RNA virus about 40 50 nm in diameter. DENV belongs to the genus flavivirus; a member
of the Flaviviridae family (1). Its single stranded genome codes for three structural proteins (capsid,
precursor membrane, and envelope), and 7 non structural proteins. There are four different serotypes
of the virus, DENV 1 through DENV 4, that are all antigenically and genetically different. Although

Similarities Between Egyptian And Greek Women
To be a woman in any civilization is not an easy task. Even in today s century woman keep having
difficulties and differences with equality and rights. It is not surprising that those problems come from
many centuries ago. The best ancient civilization to be a woman was Egypt. They treated women
better than Roman Empire or Athens. That is why Egyptian woman became an example of female
autonomy in society for other civilizations. Egyptians view women and family as a crucial fact for
happiness and delight, they looked women as invidious with respect and not as objects like other
civilizations. In the first place, comparing contemporary women of Rome, Greece (especially
Mycenaean); Egyptian women live with a certain freedom, respect and free will, which put them in
many ways as equal as men. They could own property, borrow money, sign contracts, divorce, inherit,
be involved in religion and even appear in court. These rights did not make women wanting to be
better than the man, on the contrary it prevailed the will and obedience to man but always respecting
their autonomy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minoan had more rights than Mycenaean; Minoan society granted women equality and freedom, but it
was only some rights and only in this society. Athenian men married younger girls so they were easier
to control and dominated. Outside of Minoan, women were restricted to organizing the household,
supervising the slaves, and performing domestic labor. They were also excluded from public affairs
and the majority lived separate from their husband s and did not had the privilege to eat dinner with
them. Husbands spent most of their free time with women known as hetaera; foreign but educated
woman employed as entertainers, prostitutes or courtesans and were the only ones allowed to attend to

  • 3. Individual Vs Utilitarianism It is believed that the utilitarian concept does not allow for an individual to invoke what they feel is their God given right because utilitarianism is mainly concerned with achieving the greatest good for the majority of people with little concern about the individual . Based on this theory, it would be in the highest order to actually infringe on an individual s rights so as to benefit the greater population. This theory is rarely ever concerned with justice, benevolence, egocentricity, or independence of a single person if the outcome does not benefit the greater amount of people First let us further examine what is defined as utilitarianism. Utilitarianism states that ever act should comply with the principle of utility. It points out what we ought to do and what we shall do. It also, pushes for the most pleasure, with the least pain, for the majority of people involved. Why do people make certain choices? How Theme Shapes a Story Running Head: Theme How Theme Shapes a Story By Trina Carr English 125 Instructor: Clifton Edwards Running Head: Theme page 1 Like many people who haven t studied literature, if someone asked me what the theme of a story was, I would have given a synopsis of the story detailing the actions and characters in it. As I have come to learn, theme is much more than a distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning. The theme focuses the story and is the behind the scenes force that propels the story forward. In other words it gives the story purpose and shape. Theme will attempt to hold all the elements of your story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Running Head: Theme page 2 She furthers uses an image like the missing pine trees, which are a symbol of immortality, to bring to life the understanding that death has arrived. When Rhys uses cold the reader and the character herself realize the meaning of the journey death. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that the journey has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story. According to our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask how do characters make a particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston, R 2010) This is a good place to start when looking at Rhys story. The author used the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the story. The author also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she doesn t need a body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she is leading us on this journey. As the character reaches the end her journey, we as the reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the end of the story so the reader begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning. Running Head: Theme page 3 References Bain,T. The famers also cause the low price of grass fed beef, in the sense that they try to compete with the famers of corn fed beef. However many of the famers seem to ignore the price of raising the cattle. The cost of these beef affects the environment. Firstly, this beef causes pollution as a result of CAFOS. The waste product produced from CAFOS are mostly realized into the river, stream, and lake. The waste product contains ammonia, this gas has an unpleasant odor, which can be detectable even at low concentrations. When it contains a high concentration, it becomes harmful to vegetation. The structure of this novel is important to conveying his message. It can be said that the format of this book is related to how Katharina Blum herself lives her life. The possible reason that this story is set in this police report format is that Heinrich Böll wants the reader to know the facts since all the facts come together in the end. The story uses flashbacks so the reader knows what is happening somewhere else at the same time. It could be said that the reader is finding out all this information in the same order as the police investigation. • 25. The Japanese Culture Of Japan The Japanese are a nation with a culture influenced by many yet uniquely Japanese and connected to their past. They retain strong ties to their early legends, religions, and traditions while continuing to progress with the rest of the world. With these ideas that have been passed down and preserved, there have also been forms of dance and music that have been influenced by other countries, made uniquely Japanese, and continued through today. The Japanese people as we know them today were not the original inhabitants of the land. The native people, the Ainu, were hunters and fishermen closer in resemblance to Caucasians. There is now only a small group of them residing in the Northern section of Japan. The Japanese people are believed, based on physical characteristics as well as language, to originate from central Asia. Movement from mainland Asia continued throughout the history of Japan and played a large role in how their culture developed. The country consists of four large islands all of which are lush and mountainous. The people of Japan have survived because of their developments in agriculture, supplemented by their fishing capabilities (Morton 6). Japanese religious ideas and beliefs have a root in Shinto, a naturalistic religion with a focus in animism. Early Shinto legends express that the land was created by, then inhabited by the gods Izanagi and Izanami. As youth move into the pubertal transition (about age 10 14 years, earlier in girls than in boys), these skills are incorporated into a variety of individual and group activities and many organized sports. Considering only senior management or executives could be one answer, but I believe that since a NPO does most of its operational work largely through volunteers and less through employees, it becomes important to have representation of this constituency as well. The closer the mission statement is to what these volunteers considers is important for their end customers, the more likely is the high quality of the output and easier to continue recruiting volunteers. Impact of e Commerce on business Internet customers expect to have 24/7 service that is quick and easy with little to no contact with human members of staff. Speed is key. Maintaining a quick and high performing website is integral to ecommerce success, particularly during high demand times. Internet customers will become frustrated quickly if access is slow or not attainable and so will give up and try another rival business due to the ease of being able to visit multiple competitors within minutes. Surveys have shown that customers get frustrated with e commerce sites due to pop up adds, difficulty with finding specific items, service isn t as good as in the actual store and the service isn t personalised. For ecommerce businesses, customer expectations have become very high. They want cheaper products, in good condition with a quick delivery time and good customer service if they were to come into contact with an employee.
