How often do you get a bug report that you can’t reproduce?
How often do you struggle to find the source of the bug in your code?
How can you streamline the testing process and make sure you don’t repeat the same bugs?
With Visual Studio 2010 & Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2010 there are a lot of new features for testers and developers that will solve these problems.
In this session you will learn how to: automate more, reproduce bugs easier, maintain your tests and configuration and discover problems sooner.

Continuous Delivery with TFS msbuild msdeployPeter Gfader
If you are deploying your software manually, you are doing it wrong.
If you deploying once a month, you are doing it wrong.
If you as a developer are deploying from Visual Studio by clicking "Publish", you are doing it wrong.
If a bug-fix takes you 1 hour but your customer needs to wait a week until he gets it, you are doing it wrong.
Manual deployments are NOT fun. See a good way on how to automate the deployment with TFS 2010, msbuild and msdeploy.
SQL Server 2016 is now in review! The newest version promises to deliver new real-time, built-in advanced analytics, advanced security technology, hybrid cloud scenarios as well as amazing rich visualizations on mobile devices.
There are many great reasons to move to SQL 2016, however if you are still working on SQL Server 2005 you may have another good motivator - the end-of-life clock of SQL 2005 is ticking down and support is about to end April 12, 2016.
In this deck we review the significant licensing changes introduced with SQL 2012. If our experience as Microsoft's Gold Certified Member has taught us anything - it is one thing. During migrations many of our clients get outright lost when trying to figure out the number of licenses they have or need. This often leads to under-deployment, and subsequently serious compliance issues with Microsoft. And yes, in some cases over-deployment means big savings back to your department.
Introduction to SQL Server Internals: How to Think Like the EngineBrent Ozar
When you pass in a query, how does SQL Server build the results? Time to role play: Brent will be an end user sending in queries, and you will play the part of the SQL Server engine. Using simple spreadsheets as your tables, you will learn how SQL Server builds execution plans, uses indexes, performs joins, and considers statistics.
This session is for DBAs and developers who are comfortable writing queries, but not so comfortable when it comes to explaining nonclustered indexes, lookups, and sargability.
SQL Server 2008
In this event we'll take a look at what's coming down the line for database developers with SQL Server 2008. We'll look at changes to the core engine and the T-SQL language, any changes in the toolset and we'll also take a good look at what's coming with ADO.NET V3.0 in terms of the new Entity Framework and the new Microsoft Synchronisation Framework. If you're a SQL Server developer come along and see what's in store for 2008.

Generate reports with SSRS - SQL Server Reporting Services: This session will be a cornucopia of three sub-sessions. The first part will be to convince the skeptics. Why does every organization should consider SQL Server Reporting as part of its front-end solution? What will SSRS do better than a typical web application/site or a client-server application? The second portion will be a quick demo of the possibility and will be the shortest. The final part will talk about the best practices, tips from the field and will cover the implementation techniques.

Achieving Technical Excellence in Your Software Teams - from Devternity Peter Gfader
Our industry has a problem: We are not lacking software methodologies, programming languages, tools or frameworks but we need great software engineers.
Great software engineer teams build quality-in and deliver great software on a regular basis. The technical excellence of those engineers will help you escape the "Waterfall sandwich" and make your organization a little more agile, from the inception of an idea till they go live.
I will talk about my experiences from the last 15 years, including small software delivery teams until big financial institutions.
Why would a company like to be "agile"?
How can a company achieve that?
How can you achieve Technical Excellence in your software teams?
What developer skills are more important than languages, methods or frameworks?
This will be an interactive session with a Q&A at the end.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
