1. HPCL SUMMER INTERNSHIP DAILY ACTIVITIES REPORT (JUNE 2023)
 DAY 1: Introduc on to HR department and various general and
formal instruc on of the refinery
 DAY 2: Fire and safety training at the fire department and general
instruc ons and training of safety procedures to be followed in
the refinery
 DAY 3: Visit to FR maintenance workshop and explana on about
various maintenance jobs conducted
 DAY 4: Explana on by maintenance department about various
machine and equipment to carry out maintenance of rotatory
machines like pumps compressors
 DAY 5: Briefing about various fabrica on jobs carried in metal
trade department and explana on about various welding process
like TIG welding, MIG welding, Argon welding, oxy acetylene gas
cu ng
 DAY 6: Introduc on about various maintenance ac vi es done
for different valves like gate valve globe valve bu erfly valve and
its tes ng
 DAY 7: Briefing about various jobs carried on safety valve like PRV,
PSV and their safety and the maintenance ac vi es
 DAY 8: Discussion about instrumented control valve their control
procedure and regular maintenance ac vi es carried on them
and their tes ng

2.  DAY 9: Introduc on to warehouse department and their and
subsequent inventory for the services and the tool room was also
shown
 DAY 10: Introduc on to various refinery processing plant and
various opera on and process carried out there and their
maintenance ac vi es were shown
 DAY 11: Introduc on about crude dis lla on unit and their
working procedure their maintenance ac vi es and process
control of various department
 DAY 12: Briefing about VDU unit its produc on capacity and
various factors and condi on monitor for smooth produc on of
petroleum products and various subsidiaries like furnace desalter
preheater Flare KOD was shown
 DAY 13: Introduc on about ADU plant it tower and various
parameters observed monitored was shown from DCS and
regular rou ne maintenance ac vi es were shown on
circumstan al basis and were explained
 DAY 14: Introduc on of CCR unit (Catalyst cracking reforming)
was shown and various parameters regarding the unit were
detailed briefly

3.  DAY 15: Briefing about FCCU (Fluid Cataly c Cracking Unit) was
given by process opera ons department and various
maintenance ac vi es were explained. This FCCU unit is used to
improve the efficiency and reliability of producing gasoline and
diesel for the demanding transporta on fuels industry.
 DAY 16: Introduc on to LEU (light end unit) used to process
various petrochemicals gases like LPG propane butane and
various process carried were briefly explained
 DAY 17: Visit to OMDS (Oil Management & Handling System) and
various process carried for storing and discharging of oil & gas
were shown
 DAY 18: Introduc on to CPP (capaci ve power plant) were
various gas turbines were used to generate produce electricity
also substa on for distribu on of power supply was shown
 DAY 19: Visit to DMP (demineralized water plant) used to remove
impurity salt from water and it is used as feed water for boiler
 DAY 20: Briefing about Quality control labs used to monitor and
observed the petroleum product quality and composi on various
products such as ATF, MS, HSD asphalt are tested on daily basis to
ensure the quality assurance
 DAY 21: Introduc on to Lube refinery and various produc on
manufactured in LR Refinery were explained in detailed

4.  DAY 22: Explana on about various sta c part like heat exchangers
condensers and the various tests carried for maintenance job and
hydraulic jet pump cleaning for tube were shown
 DAY 23: Electrical maintenance workshop were various motors
and maintenance ac vi es of winding balancing of motor were
shown
 DAY 24: Lube maintenance workshop was visited were various
jobs on rotary machinery for lube refinery was carried out
 DAY 25: Various opera ons carried on cooling tower were shown
and various induced dra and forced dra cooling fans used in
the cooling tower system were showed and explained
 DAY 26: Boiler House visit where various boiler opera on were
shown their control and monitoring system were shown and HP
LP MP steam genera on required for unit were explained in
detail
