Why We Shouldn T School Uniforms Be Banned
chool uniforms should be banned because school uniforms restrict students creativity, evidence
suggests that school uniform increase violent attacks, and the uniforms have an effect on students self
image. The school uniforms have a big effect on student s personality and have no positive effect on
behavior and academic achievement.
School uniforms restrict student s creativity and freedom of expression. As proof, the First
Amendment of the US Constitution states that all individuals have the right to express themselves
freely. Thus, schools encourage an appreciation of diversity, and enforcing standardized uniforms
sends a contradictory message. In school, they decide to teach us about Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa
Parks, Susan B. Anthony. Teachers say these people express themselves, in doing what they think is
right, while we cannot express ourselves in the hallway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, according to the Miami Dade County Public Schools Office of Education Evaluation and
Management, fights in middle schools nearly doubled within one year of introducing mandatory
uniforms. This entails that bullies will try to find any possible reason to show status. If bullies want to
pick on children about being rich or poor, uniforms are a direct target. Studies also showed that
uniforms were equally ineffective for elementary students as to eighth graders. In addition, the
regression results from the National Education Longitudinal Survey study found that uniformed public
school students, on every other examination other than reading, scored worse than their uniform free
counterparts. This proves that uniforms do not advance academic achievements. Even if teachers think
that students may look smarter with uniforms, they don t academically perform better. Moreover,
uniforms are the cause of violent attacks, while there is very little evidence that uniforms provide any
benefits at

Big Ten Game Of The Day Essay
This lopsided matchup earned Big Ten Game of the Day honors solely because of the showcase status
that it brings. The Wisconsin/Rutgers game is part of Big Ten Super Saturday , a showcase of Big Ten
athletics that will take place at Madison Square Garden. After the 12:00 P.M basketball game, there
will be a Big Ten hockey game between Ohio State and Wisconsin. Although, the contest will count as
a home game for Rutgers, you can be sure that there will also be a good amount of Badgers fans in
attendance. Especially, since Wisconsin athletics are the centerpiece of the special event. Even though
the Scarlet Knights earned their first conference win last week over Nebraska, it s safe to say that they
re still out manned by nearly every Big Ten team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minnesota is way overdue. The mercurial Fighting Illini finally busted out of their three game losing
streak in their last conference game. Playing at home against Iowa, Illinois took a 40 24 lead into
halftime and never looked back. On the other hand, the Nittany Lions are in the midst of their own
three game skid. Although, Penn State s losing streak had come against elite Big Ten teams, they have
been beaten down handily. In their last two losses, on the road to Purdue and Wisconsin, the Nittany
Lions have lost by a combined 52 points. This game will come down to experience, the Nittany Lions
are extremely young and have never dealt with the Big Ten roller coaster. At this point in the season, I
trust the Fighting Illini to take care of business more than I trust Penn State. Illinois has several mature
players and still has a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. With Iowa on a three game losing
streak, this line was a little surprising. It s fairly obvious that the Buckeyes are playing much better
lately, winning three out of four. In fact, their only loss in that stretch was to Northwestern and it was

Medieval Alchemist Research Paper
From the stone age to the worlds unlike our own, the human race has achieved the most outstanding
scientific breakthroughs in recent centuries. Humans have looked from the building blocks of our
world to the vast variety of other worlds. The effort and success in advances such as medicine,
biology, mathematics, physics and most importantly chemistry, has shown our accomplishments
during our existence. Lets take a moment to sit back and dwell on advances in human history that have
allowed us to overcome nature. Eventually, humans begin to feel and show the effects of nature on the
body. Frustrated by the effects of failing vision, medieval monks had the bright idea of putting two

By 1687, he had theorized that gravity was a force that could hold objects, such as the moon, in orbit
around the Earth, and he worked out equations to prove it (Challenging Limits). He then calculated the
laws of motion that held the planets in their orbits around the sun. Along with his research, he
invented calculus, the method for working out the speed of an object at any given moment during its
path. By the 20th century, scientist could demonstrate atoms and the tiny charged particles they
contained called electrons. The electrons are virtually invisible, but Leeuwenhoek used them from an
electron microscope that magnified ten million times. Allowing future scientist to develop the MRI
scanner, a precise diagnostic tool used to learn about the work of the brain. In addition to the
discovery of atoms and their electrons, a physicist by the name of Albert Einstein formulated the
theorem E=mc2. Stating that energy resided in matter itself. With this, scientist learned that atoms are
our greatest repository of energy. Scientist began to ask if they themselves, if we could split atoms,
could we release the new, limitless supply of energy (Challenging Limits)? Soon, scientist did split
atoms that released massive surges of energy, but also produced lethal radioactivity. This
groundbreaking discovery provided a possible solution to what created the

Comparing The Iliad And The Odyssey
This short essay will identify five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and
the Odyssey.
The first epic characteristic evident in both epics is catalogs and genealogies. For instance, Book VIII
of the Odyssey features a list of participants in the game (115 125) and the Iliad Book II features a
catalog of ships (484 759).
Secondly, both epics start in media res. The Odyssey starts ten years after the Trojan War and the Illiad
starts nine years after the start of the war.
Thirdly, the Muses are prayed to for inspiration to tell the story, which can be observed in the Iliad
Book I (1 9) and in the Odyssey Book I (1 31).
Fourthly, the main characters also give long formal speeches. For instance, in Book XI of the Iliad,
Hector rallies his men with a long speech after Agamemnon is carried off the field (248 291).
Similarly, there are extended speeches between Telemachus and the suitors, which compile Book II of
the Odyssey.
Finally, there is intervention of gods or machinery in both epics. For Odysseus , Poseidon s divine
intervention kept him from returning home for several years. Similarly, one of many examples of
divine intervention exists fairly in the beginning of the Iliad, when Apollo responds to Chryses appeal
to strike the Greek armies with plague.
In conclusion, five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and the Odyssey
have been identified in the paragraphs above.

Izanami s Creation
In the beginning, there was only a mass of Chaos but over time this mass begin to separate. The lighter
more translucent parts ascending to form the heavens while the heavier parts sank to become the
Earth. Heaven was given life and form while earth was still liquid and barren. The primordial gods
were not pleased, so they gave Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto the task of giving Earth life
and form. The two accepted and were given a jeweled spear, Amenonuhoko, to assist them with their
tasks. The gods crossed the bridge between Heaven and Earth. Once on Earth, they churned the sea
with the bejeweled spear and created Japan s first Island, Onogoro from the salt water still remaining
on the blade. The gods built their home there Once Onogoro was formed, Izanami and Izanagi wished
to be married. They constructed a pillar of Heaven, Ame no Mihashira. Once it was competed, they
stood at opposite ends and circled the pillar. Once Izanami and Izanagi meant, they were married.

Causes Of The Protestant Reformation
The early church had all the power over everything in most of Europe. It was the wealthiest thing in
all the land and with that came other big concepts. The church had power over the people, over other
people s money and even other people s lives. However, during the time period of 1300 to 1789 the
church s power declined by a significant amount. A number of things happened that decreased the
church s power during the time period of 1300 to 1789, but the Protestant reformation and the
Scientific Revolution had weakened the role of the church the most. The Protestant Reformation had
decreased the role of the church in Europe by decreasing its power by a large margin. Martin Luther

Therefor Darwin s theory had proven such an important story of the church incorrect and people
began to follow science more than religion, thus weakening the role of the church in Europe.
Astronomy had weakened the role of the church by showing that humans are not are not praised by
God as we thought. People used to believe that Earth was the center of the universe and everything
evolved around us in perfect circles showing that we are important because we are God s creation. The
church agreed with this and condemned any other ideas Both Protestant and Catholic religious leaders
condemned the work because it was contrary to traditional teachings (Watts). Nicolaus Copernicus had
founded the heliocentric system where everything had evolved around the sun, not the earth and that it
was not in perfect circles. The heliocentric solar system had weakened the church by showing that
God did not make his creation the great center of the universe and not everything in space is perfect.
The biggest reason on how science decreases the role of the church is by proof. Science isn t
something we just believe in like religion, it s something we need to prove. The Scientific Revolution
decreased the role of the church by showing proof that somethings in the church are false.
Many things had decreased the role of the church

Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis
In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to condemning
him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his inner battle between
reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the play, though there might be
some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats him and leaves Cleopatra with most
of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra seemed far more regal in the book than in the
play. For example, in the book when Antony wants Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it
sound like a big honor that he is able to do this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me
imagine that it is a regal and important moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he
kisses her hand, which to me seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the
importance of the moment. It is almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She
made what should have been a serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though
Antony loves Cleopatra his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show
his loyalty to Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the
people of Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. To fix this and
mend their bond Antony agrees to marry Caesar s sister Octavia. This mend is shown when Caesar
says that the

The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes
A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing
nothing, wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is true, one can not truly live life to the fullest and
experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out there
and risk being cut open.
Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are underappreciated
and should be embraced rather than shunned. Without mistakes, life would be boring, then where
would we be?
As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and
somehow we are attracted to all of the things that are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed to
want what we shouldn t and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the blisters that
form on the burned toddler s hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has experienced the
pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the stovetop or the oven with pain. After the association has
been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That s all psychobabble
though. With every scrape, burn, and scar, one s childhood becomes a long string of memories and
stories that are bound to be retold as a learning tool for the next generation or just to look back on and
be able laugh at the naivety that the most important

When designing busy, industrial buildings such as government warehouses, post offices, and other
practical buildings that require a great deal of infrastructure and machines, the best option may be to
go with a flat roof. A flat roof is allows a greater degree of flexibility in the future and can easily be
modified if future fixtures such as air conditioning units, ventilation, or other electronics need to be
installed.
On the other hand, deep slope roofs are more commonly found on residential homes. However, a deep
slope roof with a striking material such as slate or ceramic may provide the sort of elegant look that a
statehouse or courthouse demands. If your next construction project is going to be the sort of building
that is designed to make a statement and serve as a symbol for your town or city, a deep slope roof
with a rare roofing material may be your best bet.

Cultural Relativism In The Euthyphro
Cultural relativism is the attitude that an individual s principles and customs should not be judged by
others in terms that every individual has different backgrounds and beliefs. No culture is superior to
any other culture as they all have different laws, or morals which they believe to be right or wrong.
Everyone should be equal based on their race, gender, religion, and values. All cultures are adapted to
what is right or wrong/good or bad based on their society and what they re taught growing up. This
varies from places and time frames. In a society at one time, something could be right, but in that
same society at a different time frame it could be wrong. All these beliefs are based on an individual
within their social order. What one culture finds moral, is something that a different community may
find immoral, but it is not right to judge either of them, for this was based on where and how they
were raised and what they ve developed to support. The way people eat, work, or even speak is all
based on their humanity. There is no universal standard of morality

Analysis Of Killing Patton By Bill O Reilly
Our history is what has shaped the world into what it is today for better or worse. There have been
many turning points in our history that have dramatically impacted the world we live in. World War Ⅱ
was a pinnacle point in recent history that brought about genocide, modern warfare and the nuclear
age. This was a tragic war that introduced some of the deadliest weapons the world has ever seen, as
well as manufacturing mass murder. But World War Ⅱ also brought about many changes in the world,
specifically in America. Women played important roles in the workforce for the first time and finally
had a sense of independence. America was able to unite as a country and manufacture goods on a scale

Shortly after the war, the infamous general was involved in a car accident that paralyzed him from the
waist down. A few days later, a man who saw so much death on the battlefields of Europe and Africa
died in the most pedestrian way. In this book, rumors that the Russians along with the head of the U.S.
government s OSS unit conspired to kill Patton to put an end to his outspoken disapproval of Stalin
and the Russians.
The time period this novel takes place in is towards the end of World War Ⅱ around 1944 and the
months after the war is over. It begins around the time the Allied troops have liberated France are
pushing eastward towards the Fatherland. Hitler and the Nazi s are on their heels and are planning on
launching a desperate last attack that will be known as the Battle of the Bulge. The Allied troops have
come to a halt to regroup and Hitler is using this as the prime time to launch a secret attack of more
than two hundred and fifty thousand soldiers on the Allies. Germany eventually ends up losing the
battle and eventually the war. From there, the book talks about General Patton s post war actions and
his sudden death and the conspiracies behind it.
Geographically, the book moves from place to place. It talks about past events in Africa and present
events in Europe. Much of the story takes place at Fort Driant where Patton is trying to take control of

Profit And Non Profit Essay
Profit and Non profits organizations share the common goal of creating a product that will ultimately

Explain How Human Geography And Physical Geography
How human geography and physical geography overlap The influence of natural environment of
human activity are very huge. First of all, we have terrains. The influence of terrains on rural tribes is
very apparent. Rivers in plain area is less, and the terrain is complete, open and flat. So the shape of
the village assumes the circular or irregular polygon and more concentrated. However, in river less
area, villages along the river or valley stretching and villages scattered and quite small. Second , the
water. Villages are generally close to the water. In the water supply adequate areas, Village is
concentrated and have large scale. In water supply scarce areas, the village is fragmented and
smaller. In dry and desert areas, village is distributed in the area rich in oasis or groundwater.
The third one is climate. If area rich in precipitation, most of the roof are inclined. This is in favour for
the rain come down. And most of the plants are very good live in the more water areas. So people
usually use bamboo to build their house. Because of the rain is very often, the ground and the air are
very damply. So people s houses usually impending. The less rainfall area home usually use flat roof.
So people usually use earth and rocks to build their house.

According to Gregory, a philosopher of the Christian faith is one who structurally gives himself up to

Taking a Look at Hip Hop Culture
Hip Hop Culture As I was growing up in the late 1970 s, it has always been common knowledge that
hip hop music and its culture originated in the South Bronx section of New York City in the early
1970 s. Since this time, hip hop has become a multi cultural fusion of many different contributions
made by several ethnic groups like Caucasians, Asians, blacks, and Hispanics, to name just a few. Hip
hop has definitely exploded within many cultures and subcultures throughout the world and within the
past decade or so; it has been getting widespread exposure. When hip hop music and the whole culture
of the movement first came onto the scene, it incorporated many different art forms. These art forms
include deejaying [cuttin and scratchin ], emceeing or rapping, beatboxing, breakdancing, and graffiti
art. In today s society, hip hop still incorporates these different art forms, but it also includes the way
you dress; the language or terminology you use; and the way you walk, act, and look. Hip hop music
on a whole has always been a form of self expression depicting a person s lifestyle; their pain; their

Dead Man Laughing By Zadie Smith
In the story Dead Man Laughing , Zadie Smith (December 22, 2008) shares an emotional and
significant aspect of her life, through the use of comedy. Additionally, Smith successfully conveyed to
the reader the great impact that comedy has had on her, and why she determined to use humor as a
way to relate to her father. From the very beginning, Smith introduces her father s favorite hobby;
comedy. As it says, my father had few enthusiasms, but he loved comedy (1). She then goes on
explaining the uniqueness of comedy, how it gave her father freedom and that their is no division of
social status when it comes to comedy; comedy was and will always be true freedom. She informs the
reader of several British comedians and comedy history, mentioning how they all had different styles.
For example, one comedian would continuously make fun of himself, other would make fun of their
culture, and social status. On the other hand, she also mentions that people do not have to be funny to
go on stage. In the world of comedy, if you are absolutely determined to stand on a stage for five
minutes with a mike in your hand, someone in London will let you do it, if only once (7). ... Show

The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Literary Criticism Essay
In the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Ones Who Walk Away from
Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin, the authors have created characters who symbolize themselves.
Huxley s and Le Guin s characters have minds that readers can t understand or comprehend their
intentions. Even though their stories were written during two different time periods, you can still see
how they use optimism to create their literature. By applying a psychoanalytical criticism, readers can
compare the characters in Brave New World and The Ones Who Walk Away From
Omelas and see how they express their fears and emotions, how they reflect on themselves, and how
they act or don t act on their desires.
Expressing feeling is a way that Huxley s and Le Guin s stories are compared to show how emotions
give their characters human emotions to express their differences from other characters. Huxley s
book Brave New World has many characters that express many emotions, but one character named
John the savage, a character who had it harder than anyone in the book.
Huxley s writes John the savage as a character that is scared to show his emotions, battles to keep lust
and love separate, to understand what his personal feelings are. Bound by strong vows that had never
been pronounced, obedient to laws that had long since ceased to run, he sat averted and in silence this
shows us how Huxley s writes John the savage emotions as

Animal Testing Is Not All Humane And Pain Free
An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the united states for scientific and commercial
testing (ProCon.org). We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of
nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90%
agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats,
rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to
create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on
animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that
animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results.
First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings
just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain
free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals
suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans
receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures
that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. Although animal testing may seem environmentally
friendly, animals are subjected to force feeding, food and water deprivation, and the

Analyzing Your Business s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats
GETTING STARTED
SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) is a method of assessing a
business, its resources, and its environment. Doing an analysis of this type is a good way to better
understand a business and its markets, and can also show potential investors that all options open to,
or affecting a business at a given time have been thought about thoroughly. The essence of the SWOT
analysis is to discover what you do well; how you could improve; whether you are making the most of
the opportunities around you; and whether there are any changes in your market such as technological
developments, mergers of businesses, or unreliability of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don t just make a list of mistakes that have been made, such as an occasion when a customer was not
called back promptly. Try to see the broader picture instead and learn from what happened. It may be
that your systems or processes could be improved so that customers are contacted at the right time, so
work on boosting your systems and making that change happen rather than looking about for someone
to blame. It s a good idea to get an outside viewpoint on what your weaknesses are as your own
perceptions may not always marry up to reality. You may strongly believe that your years of
experience in a sector reflect your business s thorough grounding and knowledge of all of your
customers needs. Your customers, on the other hand, may perceive this wealth of experience as an old
fashioned approach that shows an unwillingness to change and work with new ideas. Be prepared to
hear things you may not like, but which, ultimately, may be extremely helpful. Spot the Opportunities
The next step is to analyze your opportunities, and this can be tackled in several ways. External
opportunities can include the misfortune of competitors who are not performing well, providing you
with the opportunity to do better. There may be technological developments that you could benefit
from, such as broadband arriving in your area, or a new process enhancing your products. There may

Physical Therapy- PT
Physical Therapist, also known as PTs help people manage their pain and improve mobility after
injury or illness (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). They also rehabilitate and treat patients
with injuries and chronic conditions (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). In addition to treatment
and diagnosis many also develop wellness and fitness programs to encourage better lifestyle habits
(Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). Physical Therapist can also choose to specialize in
specialties orthopedics (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). As a Physical Therapist one would
have many duties and responsibilities to complete throughout the day and their career. Once a one is
referred a new patient they typically review the previous doctors notes and the patients history
(Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). Then by observing the patients movements and listening to
their apprehensions they will diagnose the patients malfunctional movements (Occupational Outlook
Handbook, 2014). With this information Physical Therapists begin to develop a care plan for the
patient that outlines goals and expected outcomes (Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014). While
implementing the plan they use different techniques and exercises to help patients cope with pain

John Keith Atkinson s Life aa a Child Laborour Essay
John Keith Atkinson was the son of former agricultural labourers James and Mary Atkinson. They
moved to Holmeside to work in Outcote Mill when their agricultural employer s farm was sold by the
landowner to another landowner to make his holdings bigger and more profitable. With their jobs gone
and their tied home lost, they followed other migrants into the town. John was an infant when they
moved. In Holmeside the Atkinson family, including five children, lived in the fusty cellar of an
already crowded house that gave rude shelter to four families besides them. Two families occupied
two upstairs bedrooms, and another two lived in a single ground floor room. The parents of all five
families and the older children worked at Staithes mill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, children learned through beatings, deprivation, and fear to yield to their keeper. Keepers
tormented their minds, abused their bodies, and determined every other aspect of their existence. Like
most pauper children, John grew morose and sullen. He lacked the spontaneity of normal children, and
lived in permanent dread that another tragedy might crush him. He remembered the day he and sixty
other children were ordered to make paper parcels of their belongings. Brown paper and string were
provided. With their bundles, they were packed like sardines into the back of two horse drawn
caravans and trundled over rough roads for a week before arriving at Outcote Mill. They were bruised
and in pain from their confinement, having had no room to stretch their limbs during the journey.
Jumping down from the carts at journey s end sent shafts of pain through them. From the moment he
arrived in the care of Reynold Walkden Staithes, young Atkinson was nothing but a factory apprentice,
one of many whose individuality and needs were disregarded. This was his introduction to the
apprentice system that was purportedly governed by humane regulations. The provisions of the law
not being applied, the result was that appalling cruelties were routinely visited upon apprentice
children. Manufacturing industries got into their stride as the seventeenth century

The Aspect Of Language Development
Introduction
Nowadays, with continuous enhancement of economy and culture globalization, bilingual or
multilingual speakers are increasing all around world. In United States, one out of five elementary
school students speak another language other than English at home. Although some parents prefer
their children exposed to monolingual environment, the mainstream trend is more and more children
in America speak one language at home but another language at school, or use both first and second
language at school. Bilingual education becomes more and more important for bilingual children
growing up in target language environment. Commonly, children learn second language through two
different sequences, one is simultaneous acquisition, and another is sequential acquisition. Which
means they can choose to learn two languages at same time, or study second language after first
language is well mastered. But for babies or toddlers under three years old, they seem to receive
language passively; lots of people wonder how could these toddlers develop two languages and how
could parents or bilingual educators guide them effectively. This paper aims to review literature on the
aspect of language development of Bilingual toddlers; the theory results would contribute to
effectively develop one to three years old bilingual toddlers language acquisition.

Introduction
This experiment was performed to investigate the following hypothesis: The following four different
types of drinking water (spring water, seltzer water, tap water, and flavored water) we test will

Our group decided to test different types of drinking water to see if a pH level of tap water is
comparable to other types of water. Many people believe that city water has many chemicals, causing
us to form the expirement to see how close the different types of drinking water s pH levels are.

We then moved the electrode in one of the beakers of water we wanted to test. We measured the pH
level, recorded it, then placed it back into the clean water it was orignally in. We repeated these steps

The control treatment in our expirement was thr red cabbage indicator. The dependent variable is the
pH of the water. The independent variable is the different types of drinking water ( tap water, spring
water, seltzer water, and flavored water). The standard variables in the expirement are the clean test
tubes, the clean pipettes, the Paraflim, the pH tester, and the pH levels pH 2, pH 4, pH 6, pH 7, pH 8,
pH 10, and pH 12.
Results
Table 1 shows the standard of the standard of the expirement. It is used to compare the color of the red
cabbage expirement to form an educated guess on the pH level of the different types of water. Table 2
shows the pH numbers we got from the red cabbage expirement and from the pH tester. This
informations enables to compare the red cabbage and the pH tester numbers in order to prove the red
cabbages accuaracy, and to prove our hypothesis that all of the pH numbers of the different types of
drinking water are relatively close.

Since the number of shipwreck discoveries has been increasing over the years, there is a constant
disagreement between treasure hunters and archaeologists regarding who has the right to recover
artifacts from these underwater sites. This conflict is causing people to consider the positive and
negative aspects of both sides of the issue. The documentary, Deep Sea Treasure Hunters Versus
Archaeologists, shows the importance of archaeology for understanding the past and settles the debate
between the treasure hunters and archaeologists. This film suggests that a more efficient system could

This viewpoint is the archaeologists who are siding with the treasure hunters in the debate. An
example of one of these people would be an archaeologist who actually once worked with the treasure
hunter, Fisher. He states that the treasure hunters have an equal or higher value of knowledge of the
subject of maritime archaeology. A solid point he makes in his argument is that he had three labs and
more archaeologists on his time than any governmental agency at the time. He also states that due to
the lack of funding for the archaeologists, treasure hunters are sometimes the ones to rely on to
excavate the underwater sites. His final point is that an excavation is a destructive process no matter
who is working on the site. Knowing this side of the argument, it must be asked if the real damage
here is the potential for profit. The potential profit, with inferior knowledge of the subject, is likely the
reason treasure hunters would cause more damage. A lack in knowledge to find significance in
artifacts in relation to others in the archaeological record could potentially give false information on

In experiment one, fifty men and fifty women that were undergrad psychology students served as
subjects. Ten subjects of each gender were randomly assigned to see one of five videos that varied in
violent content. The main dependent variable in the first experiment was the number of aggressive
thoughts listed by the subject immediately after watching the video. The second dependent variable
was the subject s violence rating of the video they viewed. Immediately after viewing the video, each
subject filled out a set of 5 point rating scales indicating the degree to which the video had been

What made it front page worthy in the eyes of this legal audience? McKee s article, Weighing the
Right to Own an Embryo, appeals to a legal audience by presenting an unbiased framework and

very well in setting up the content of his article for the interest of his reader. Other cases he repeatedly
refers to are the Hecht v. Superior Court, Davis v. Davis, and the Buzzanca surrogacy case. By using
these court cases as examples, McKee is able to provide unbiased facts as support in the content of his
article. McKee also uses many quotations as evidence throughout his article. He quotes only lawyers
or field specialists qualified to discuss and comment on the topic. He includes: Justice Earl Johnson,

necessary ethos in addressing his audience of legal practitioners. The ethos a writer brings to an
argument is crucial to the success in connecting with the audience; naturally a writer wants to present
himself as reliable and credible (Lunsford 308). McKee, having the status of an average reporter,

Textual Analysis Of Freaks
In my view, the discussion of Freaks is incomplete without a discussion of the intended audience.
Doing so presents Freaks in a significantly less positive light. Tod Browning had immense success off
of his previous film, Dracula. As horror films soared in popularity, Browning wanted to outdo his
Dracula in his next film. Thus Freaks was born.
The presentation of Freaks as a horror movie produces a question: What is horrifying about the film?
Is it the cruelness of the non disabled people in the film, or is it the images and actions of those with
disabilities in the film? Numerous points are to be considered when answering these questions.
The opening sequence, for instance, questions the intentions of both Browning and the audience. The
introduction slide states that technology is rapidly eliminating such blunders of nature from the world.

If the movie was expected to compete with the likes of Dracula and Frankenstein, certainly the horror
in the film could not have been Cleopatra s exploitation and mistreatment of Hans. Rather, it would be

The chanting of one of us, accompanied later by the images of the performers crawling through the
mud in the thundering night with weapons, and the later reveal of Cleopatra as horribly mutilated by
this group, would be considered the truly terrifying portion of the plot, at least in the 1930s. If we
assume the audience to be white and non disabled, this presentation raises problems. When those

Jeremiah And St. Bakhta Research Paper
Jeremiah and St. Bakhita
Jeremiah was a prophet alive during 600 BC and he lived in the southern Kingdom of Judah. People in
Judah were not sharing with the poor, or following God s laws, and they also did not care about peace.
Jeremiah told them to treat everyone equally and to stop worshipping idols. They refused to follow
what Jeremiah was telling them and they beat him, then sent him to jail. But Jeremiah kept telling
them about God and how they had to repent. He told them that if they did not do what God asked them
to do then God would re form them like somebody would re form clay if they were not happy with it.
St. Josephine Bakhita was a prophet born in 1869 in Olgassa, Sudan. She lived a normal life until she
was kidnapped by slave traders and was sold as a slave in 1877. Her owners would beat her and they
left her with 114 scars. Then, her one owner in took her to Italy where she was left with the Canossian
Sisters. There she learned about God and desired to meet him. So, once she was set fee in 1890 she

Middle Class Life During The Industrial Revolution
The Middle Class Life during
The Industrial Revolution began in England around the 1780 s. It was mainly based on the cotton
industry and subsequently many of the inventions that came out of this period were mainly for
producing and manufacturing cotton. Another stage of the Industrial Revolution was based on
inventions. This is when most of the luxury goods were produced for the public. The Industrial
Revolution is seen by scholars, as noted in A History of Western Society, as basically moderate and
evolutionary. Even though the Industrial Revolution was almost inevitable many people took
advantage of the new developments that came about and raised their standards of living because of the

Thus demand for goods within the country complemented the demand from the colonies. This was
very important because this raised the standard of living for the average families. It was like giving a
cookie to a child, the child would always want another one. As soon as the families experienced the
better life they will always strive to achieve that same quality of life.
There were many important developments to the cotton industry that came about due to the Industrial
Revolution. The problem the cotton industry had was due to inadequate machinery or the lack of
machinery. Clothes and other things that came from the cotton industry were being produced way too
slowly and the price of the material was way too expensive for the average family. The first problem
was that yarn was not being fed fast enough to the weaver, but in 1769, two new inventions solved the
problem, the spinning jenny and the water powered frame, both of which provided yarn faster.
Edmund Cartwright, who invented the power loom, combined the machine s characteristics and
purposes into one machine in 1800. Cleaning cotton was also a tedious and time consuming job, so in
1793, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, which could clean cotton 50 times faster than the previous
outdated methods. Many people would actually walk around in filthy garments all of their lives but
because of the new inventions they could afford to buy undergarments.

One section of Maryland lies to the east of the Chesapeake Bay on the Delmarva Peninsula ( Name:
Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia). It is continental in the highland west, with temperature records
from 40 degrees F ( 40 degrees C) to more than 100 degrees F (38 degrees C). Average temperatures

Natural Resources, and Industry
Despite its small size, Maryland enjoys a number of natural resources. It has fertile soil in many areas

Abstract Behavioral Development Is A Crucial Part Of Human
Abstract Behavioral development is a crucial part of human development. It influences how people
interact with the atmosphere and others around them. Behavioral development is reliant on on many
environmental factors which include one s parents, siblings, peers, schooling and culture. According to
Jacqueline J. Goodnow, these parental factors are often dependent on the culture in which the person
was raised. The two parental factors that have a negative effect on a child s behavioral and

Another similarity these cultures share is the value in masking their feelings. For both cultures, the
masking of their feelings creates a non threatening, peaceful environment, but certain parenting styles,
found popular to these cultures, can lead to the internalization and externalization of negative
emotions for young children. Relations Between Parenting Styles and Temperament of a Child
Behavioral Coping Mechanisms Internalizing and externalizing behaviors have been related to both
parenting styles and child temperament (Zhou, et all, 2008). Externalizing behavior can be displayed
in forms of aggression, hyperactivity and rebellion. Internalizing behavior can be displayed in the
forms of anxiousness and depressive behavior (Liu, 2004). Both behavioral problems manifest in the
child s inward and outward behavior. There are negative life long outcomes such as violence,
depression, anxiety, etc. that are associated with children who practice these behavioral coping
mechanisms. Parenting Styles Psychologist Diana Braumrind theorized that there are four patterns of
parenting styles (Uninvolved, Permissive, Authoritarian and Authoritative Parenting) based off of two
concepts: control and warmth (Kopko, 2007). Unlike Western cultures, who generally follow an
Authoritative parenting style, most Japanese and Chinese parents follow a more Authoritarian

Wayne Williams Fiber Evidence Case Study
In the case of Wayne Williams, the fiber evidence was key in obtaining the conviction for the murders
(Imwinkelried, 1983). The fiber evidence most assuredly led to the jury s final decision of guilty,
without this evidence a case could not have been formed to display the guilt of Wayne Williams
without the shadow of a doubt. In addition to the fiber evidence, the prosecution presented hair
evidence that displayed a 98% chance of belonging to Wayne Williams as well as his German
Shepherd, Sheba (Deadman, 1984). This evidence alone would not have proven the guilt of Wayne
Williams. The prosecution also presented witness testimony linking Wayne Williams to some of the
victims despite his own testimony relaying he had no contact with them. The

Why We Shouldn T School Uniforms Be Banned chool uniforms should be banned because school uniforms restrict students creativity, evidence suggests that school uniform increase violent attacks, and the uniforms have an effect on students self image. The school uniforms have a big effect on student s personality and have no positive effect on behavior and academic achievement. Moreover, uniforms are the cause of violent attacks, while there is very little evidence that uniforms provide any benefits at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, Penn State s losing streak had come against elite Big Ten teams, they have been beaten down handily. In their last two losses, on the road to Purdue and Wisconsin, the Nittany Lions have lost by a combined 52 points. This game will come down to experience, the Nittany Lions are extremely young and have never dealt with the Big Ten roller coaster. At this point in the season, I trust the Fighting Illini to take care of business more than I trust Penn State. Illinois has several mature players and still has a chance to make the NCAA Tournament. • 5. Comparing The Iliad And The Odyssey This short essay will identify five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and the Odyssey. The first epic characteristic evident in both epics is catalogs and genealogies. For instance, Book VIII of the Odyssey features a list of participants in the game (115 125) and the Iliad Book II features a catalog of ships (484 759). Secondly, both epics start in media res. The Odyssey starts ten years after the Trojan War and the Illiad starts nine years after the start of the war. Fourthly, the main characters also give long formal speeches. For instance, in Book XI of the Iliad, Hector rallies his men with a long speech after Agamemnon is carried off the field (248 291). Similarly, there are extended speeches between Telemachus and the suitors, which compile Book II of the Odyssey. Finally, there is intervention of gods or machinery in both epics. For Odysseus , Poseidon s divine intervention kept him from returning home for several years. Similarly, one of many examples of divine intervention exists fairly in the beginning of the Iliad, when Apollo responds to Chryses appeal to strike the Greek armies with plague. • 8. Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to condemning him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his inner battle between reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the play, though there might be some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats him and leaves Cleopatra with most of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra seemed far more regal in the book than in the play. For example, in the book when Antony wants Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it sound like a big honor that he is able to do this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me imagine that it is a regal and important moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he kisses her hand, which to me seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the importance of the moment. It is almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She made what should have been a serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though Antony loves Cleopatra his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show his loyalty to Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the people of Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. To fix this and mend their bond Antony agrees to marry Caesar s sister Octavia. This mend is shown when Caesar says that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is High School Persuasive Essay High School Persuasive Essay Student Sample The Value of Taking Risks and Making Mistakes A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing, wrote George Bernard Shaw. This is true, one can not truly live life to the fullest and experience all of the things that make life beautiful if they are not willing to put themselves out there and risk being cut open. Mistakes are simply learning tools, a means of giving us higher aspirations. They are underappreciated and should be embraced rather than shunned. Without mistakes, life would be boring, then where would we be? As small children we are naturally very accident prone creatures. Everything is new and shiny and somehow we are attracted to all of the things that are potentially harmful. Our minds are designed to want what we shouldn t and to not do as we are told. From a psychological standpoint, the blisters that form on the burned toddler s hand are a negative reinforcement. Once the child has experienced the pain firsthand, it will associate the heat of the stovetop or the oven with pain. After the association has been made, the child will not want to make that particular mistake again. That s all psychobabble though. Cultural Relativism In The Euthyphro Cultural relativism is the attitude that an individual s principles and customs should not be judged by others in terms that every individual has different backgrounds and beliefs. No culture is superior to any other culture as they all have different laws, or morals which they believe to be right or wrong. Everyone should be equal based on their race, gender, religion, and values. All cultures are adapted to what is right or wrong/good or bad based on their society and what they re taught growing up. This varies from places and time frames. In a society at one time, something could be right, but in that same society at a different time frame it could be wrong. All these beliefs are based on an individual within their social order. What one culture finds moral, is something that a different community may find immoral, but it is not right to judge either of them, for this was based on where and how they were raised and what they ve developed to support. Expressing feeling is a way that Huxley s and Le Guin s stories are compared to show how emotions give their characters human emotions to express their differences from other characters. Huxley s book Brave New World has many characters that express many emotions, but one character named John the savage, a character who had it harder than anyone in the book. Huxley s writes John the savage as a character that is scared to show his emotions, battles to keep lust and love separate, to understand what his personal feelings are. Bound by strong vows that had never been pronounced, obedient to laws that had long since ceased to run, he sat averted and in silence this shows us how Huxley s writes John the savage emotions as Threadgill 2 something he fears or can t seem to control what he doing even if it ... We are rapidly using up the earth s supply of small animals. A 2011 poll of nearly 1,000 biomedical scientists conducted by the science journal Nature found that more than 90% agreed that the use of animals in research is essential (ProCon.org). Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked up in cages and are getting killed for scientific tests to create products and medicines. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results. First, Animals used for scientific testing is cruel and inhumane because animal s experience feelings just like humans. What I discovered in my research is that animal testing is not all humane and pain free as most people think. The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief (ProCon.org). If humans receive anesthesia during surgeries, then so should the animals. These animals undergo procedures that cause these animals to feel 100% pain. They moved to Holmeside to work in Outcote Mill when their agricultural employer s farm was sold by the landowner to another landowner to make his holdings bigger and more profitable. With their jobs gone and their tied home lost, they followed other migrants into the town. John was an infant when they moved. In Holmeside the Atkinson family, including five children, lived in the fusty cellar of an already crowded house that gave rude shelter to four families besides them. Although some parents prefer their children exposed to monolingual environment, the mainstream trend is more and more children in America speak one language at home but another language at school, or use both first and second language at school. Bilingual education becomes more and more important for bilingual children growing up in target language environment. Commonly, children learn second language through two different sequences, one is simultaneous acquisition, and another is sequential acquisition. Which means they can choose to learn two languages at same time, or study second language after first language is well mastered.
