The document discusses identity in social media versus real life. It notes that social networking sites allow teenagers to express different personas than in real life. While social media gives users tools to create and share their identity, it can also lead to confusion between one's online and real-life identity. The research aims to understand why people present different identities online versus offline and the impact of having split identities across social and real worlds. The methodology will include interviews, surveys, and research on social media use and identity representation to analyze the differences between online and real-life identities.

In this presentation, we present a framework that defines social media using seven functional building blocks: identity, presence, relationships, conversations, groups, reputations and sharing. As different social media activities are defined by the extent to which they focus on some or all of these blocks, we explain the implications that each block can have for how firms should engage with social media. To conclude we present a number of recommendations for how firms should develop strategies for monitoring, understanding and responding to different social media activities.
Unpacking the social media phenomenon: towards a research agendaIan McCarthy
In this paper, we highlight some of the challenges and opportunities that social media presents to researchers, and offer relevant theoretical avenues to be explored. To do this, we present a model that unpacks social media by using a honeycomb of seven functional building blocks. We then examine each of the seven building blocks and, through appropriate social and socio-technical theories, raise questions that warrant further in-depth research to advance the conceptualization of social media in public affairs research. Finally, we combine the individual research questions for each building block back into the honeycomb model to illustrate how the theories in combination provide a powerful macro-lens for research on social media dynamics.

Analyzing social media may be a daunting task, given its overwhelming size and messy, unstructured nature. Further, for those new to analyzing social behavior in online systems, there are any number of pitfalls that make it challenging to find the meaning in the mess. The goal of this session is to provide practical tips for collecting and analyzing social media data.

While social media includes the applications that support the creation and exchange of user generated and participatory content (Kaplan & Haenlein, 2010), the focus is commonly on the presentation or actions of users, the networks created on the platforms, and what we can do to promote our various WIIFMs (What’s In It For Me). It is less studied from the perspective of the networks themselves, especially through the influence and role of the non-human elements. Through this inverted perspective much may be learned, especially involving simple assumptions about the role of agency, namely the power to act (Latour, 2013). It is this social aspect of social media where actor-network theory can be most usefully employed, as the agency of things themselves may frequently be overlooked (Adams & Thompson, 2011) when rushing to understand the black box of assumptions present in social media research and practice.

Social media? It’s serious! Understanding the dark side of social mediaIan McCarthy
Research and practice have mostly focused on the “bright side” of social media, aiming to understand and help in leveraging the manifold opportunities afforded by this technology. However, it is increasingly observable that social media present enormous risks for individuals, communities, firms, and even the whole of society. Examples for this “dark side” of social media include cyberbullying, addictive use, trolling, online witch hunts, fake news, and privacy abuse. In this article, we aim to illustrate the multidimensionality of the dark side of social media and describe the related various undesirable outcomes. To do this, we adapt the established social media honeycomb framework to explain the dark side implications of each of the seven functional building blocks: conversations, sharing, presence, relationships, reputation, groups, and identity. On the basis of these reflections, we present a number of avenues for future research, so as to facilitate a better understanding and use of social media.

Thesis: Pitch Deck for a digital platform that targets independent people who want to disconnect from their circle of friends and family in order to break the routine and discover new people with new interests.
The findings of this research study (purchase on Amazon.com) examines the impact social media has on consumers and decision-makers around the world and characterizes the impact of social influence models. The Social Mind research explores the best practices of using social business as a platform to strengthen sustainable methods for working and living in new, interactive and collaborative business world. It identifies key characteristics and insights into the engagement behaviors of influencers and individuals, and how organizations can maximize reach and influence to execute on what we call the new Principals of Engagement in the Millennium.
Social business is dynamically changing the face of human interaction and communications globally. The emergence of new social behaviors and interrelationships between individuals, organizations, thought leaders and influencers are evolving in new and previously unforeseen ways primarily because of social media networks and peer groups.
A disruption is in the making, but this time, human behavior is the driver, not technology. People want and need to get the information they need at the time they desire it, especially from those they consider to be experts. We are returning to the “apple cart” of yesteryear. However, this time around we are armed with digital devices to extend our global ability to talk with the companies and people who inform our decisions.
This paradigm shift is a major communications innovation in all markets, which is radically changing the way people and organizations engage and behave online. There is also a strong link between social networking and what might be called “a new global anthropology” that is developing because of these new behaviors, interactions and interrelationships between cultures enabled through social business.
Over the past three years Vanessa DiMauro, Peter Auditore and myself, all Society for New Communications Research fellows, have embarked on a series of research studies to understand this new and evolving business platform and its impact on social communications and influence.

Optimistic interpretations: ignoring social relations that influence the social distribution and impact of the new ICT. The new digital technologies function as commodities, and their distribution – at least initially – tends to follow existing divisions of class, race and gender. Rather than assisting with equalization, the new information and communication technologies tend to reinforce social inequality, and lead to the formation of socially and technologically disadvantaged and excluded individuals (Golding, 1996; Zappala, 2000).
Blocked by YouTube - Unseen digital intermediation for social imaginaries in ...University of Sydney
YouTube is one of the most globally utilised online content sharing sites, enabling new commercial enterprise, education opportunities and facilities for vernacular creativity (Burgess, 2006). Its user engagement demonstrates significant capacity to develop online communities, alongside its arguably more popular use as a distribution platform to monetise one’s branded self (Senft, 2013). However, as a subset of Alphabet Incorporated, its access is often restricted by governments of Asian Pacific countries who disagree with the ideology of the business. Despite this, online communities thrive in these countries, bringing into question the sorts of augmentations used by its participants. This article reframes the discussion beyond restrictive regulation to focus on the DIY approach (augmentation) of community building through the use of hidden infrastructures (algorithms). This comparative study of key YouTube channels in several Asia Pacific countries highlights the sorts of techniques that bypass limiting infrastructures to boost online community engagement and growth. Lastly, this article reframes the significance of digital intermediation to highlight the opportunities key agents contribute to strengthening social imaginaries within the Asia Pacific region.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

2. Title : Split Identity Between Social Media & Real Life
Abstract :
Identity – how we perceive and make sense of each other – is fundamental to all social interaction and to
the construction of our society and culture. People want to know about others’ beliefs, affiliations, and
intentions in order to interpret their words and actions and to predict their future behavior. These qualities
are not directly observable; instead, others see external manifestations, or signals, of one’s internal state.
Over the past couple years social network’s popularity has grown greatly among teenagers and
students. Social networking websites such as myspace, facebook, and twitter allow the teenagers to
view their friends’ profile page, pictures, and activities. This phenomenon is loved by many youth because
it gives them an outlet to express themselves as individuals and maybe take on different persona than in
real life.
Social media has afforded us a unique opportunity to build a very visible, permanent record of ourselves,
albeit through a digital medium. It is, in a way (though many may argue against it), re-inventing the notion
of identity, with far-reaching consequences. Not only is it providing the very tools to (re)create our
identities, but it is also speaking to an innate human fear. That we’ll be forgotten by others and that our
own memories will begin to fade, changing the person that we are. Throw Facebook into the mix however,
and our problems seem to be solved. Here is a summation of our lives to this date, for as much as we
want to share. And remember that we are just at the beginning since it’s a record of our identity for as
long as social media has existed.

5. OVERVIEW
Research Issues
Nowdays, people sometimes confuse with their own identity that their carried in social media life and what
they really is inside the real world. In social media life, people can create any character that they want.
They can choose to become a women meanwhile in real life they actually a man or a school boy that try

All of this issue need to be highlight and exposed towards the public. For sure, there is a reason why they
choose to become someone else instead of become a real themselves inside the social media world.
Aim
The aim to find a reason why people choose to become someone else inside a social media world.
Plan of the Research
The plan of the research is to find a best way of persuading people to aware of the issue. The research is
about how to persuade and educate people through an interactive installation ad. It is also about what is
the suitable method can be use for this issue and the interactive way to persuade people to take an
action.
Other than that, the research also about how an interactive installation ad play their role in persuading
people through advertisement rather than using a common method such as a awareness talk from the
Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission (MCMC) about the awareness of this issue and
etc.
6. Methodology
a) I will gather data from internet sources, magazines, journals and etc
b) Documentary – I will try to get documentaries and speeches from researcher about the
issue.
c) Interview – I will try to interview people from health organization and public about the issue
and the advertising of persuading people to act.
d) Survey – I will do a survey form and to be fill up by various type of generation.
e) Research – I will do research based on previous ads about the issue.
Scope/Target Audience
a) Secondary School/College students ( 16 – 25 Years Old)
7. METHODOLOGY
• Articles - Internet sources, magazines, journals and etc (Refer Design Research post)
• Documentary – I will try to get documentaries and speeches from researcher about the
issue.
• Interview – I will try to interview random public people
• Survey – I will do an online survey form and to be fill up by various type of generation.
• Research – I will do research based on previous project about the issue.
8. ANALYSIS & CRITICALITY
• The things that i can summarize is the lack of public service announcement ads
regarding this “another life” issue, which is nowdays social network life should have their
own enactment or law that lies under respective goverment in the country.
• This research shows the results how interactive installation ads can play their role of
persuading people of this issue.
• In this case, interactive installation ads will be use to persuade people to interact
with the installation . It will show how the method used gives an impact to people.
How advertising and installation play their role to persuade people through interactivity.
10. FINALIZING IDEA
• The idea is to create an interactive and creative project regarding social media
awareness project about the important of identity privacy in social network. After been
through all the survey, data collections and some materials. I have been decided to
create a creative project which looks like a “sarcasm” message to all the social
network users out there.
• The project named, “Re-Identity”. Basically, this project comes with two interactive
projects yet with the same message and objective which is to make people see what’s
mean of identity privace in social media life.
11. FIRST PROJECT
First, the project comes with a simple ways as “Login” the social networks. Looks like very common to
people out there, but there is a unique output that can be achieve side of this project. Here is some brief
and graphical step regarding this first project :
• 1) Identify the Social Media platform that will be use.
• 2) Create an account to the all social media platform that have been choose with ONLY one
username and password.
• 3) Create a fanpage or any other ways for make public aware about this project and the most
important is to make the participate with this project.
• 4) Decide one period/time/date to run this project after get enough participant to run this project.
• 5) Ask them to login all the social media network that have been choosen in that particular period.
• 6) This is the most exciting step, which all people can do anything at the particular social network
platform with only one username and password to the lowest privacy level.
• 7) Just record the data change constantly at the respective social network platform.
• 8) Once the period end, do expose the data to the public and turn the page into the high privacy
level.
• 9) Keep the respective social media platform at the high privacy level until comes to the new
upcoming period.
• 10) Lastly, if this projects looks successful, there will be an annual remarkable date to launch back
this project which to remind us, how important to us keep our social identity in the high privacy level.
14. • Identity is how we perceive and make sense of each other – is fundamental
to all social interaction and to the construction of our society and culture.
People want to know about others’ beliefs, affiliations, and intentions in

21. The idea is to create an interactive and creative project regarding social media about the important
of identity privacy in social network.
There are two related project under this “RE-IDENTITY”. Both of the projects will shows the
effects between the low privacy identity and high privacy identity setting in social networks.
Four popular social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Foursquare) in Malaysia have
been choose for the participant share their information as their own social media account. All the
four networks will be integrated together on two different privacy setting.
Beside that, there is an interactive installation project exhibited in the Faculty of Creative
Multimedia. The main idea is to illustrate the perspective of social identity privacy into a digital
form.
