Sistine Chapel Choir Essay
Sistine Chapel Choir
The Sistine Chapel Choir was established in the late 1400 s which makes it one of the oldest choirs in
the world. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.
Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section; meanwhile, the
soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the choir, men were
castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate.
The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The famous
reformer Martin Luther praised Josquin Desprez saying, He is a master of notes; they do as he wills,
as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery there is very little
information on his early life. Josquin Desprez started out as a singer for the choir in 1489 to 1495. He
eventually wrote fifteen settings of the mass. Josquin s music is filled with a calm soothing effect. His
music has a heavenly feel and an angelic echo that words cannot describe properly. After listening to

Palestrina was a member of the choir until he married. He broke the celibate rule for members;
therefore, the church kicked him out of the choir. Although he was no longer a member for the choir,
he still wrote compositions for the choir. Palestrina wrote many different compositions. He built up his
predecessor s craft and refined them. His work is the pinnacle of renaissance polyphony. His most
important work is the Missa Papae Marcelli which saved polyphony music from being discarded from
the Roman Catholic Church. The Council of Trent decided the church music was getting to the point
where no one could understand the words. After hearing Missa Papae Marcelli the council decided the
words could be understood and should be kept; therefore, saving the polyphony

Plum Point Park Essay
Issue Proposition Plum Point Park was once a place for sprouted overgrown weeds and rotting piers.
Through initiative and optimism, West Ghent Civic League proposed to transition the bleak plot of
land into a permanent park in the early 1990 s. 10 years and $1.5 million later, the park is now
considered an open natural refuge for local residents and home for various wildlife living along the
Elizabeth River. Granted Plum Point Park is an artificial park, there is still a lot of potentials that the
park can amount to. Due to the lack of green spaces and aesthetically appealing areas throughout the
park, the scenery can become very monotonous. In August of 2016, Global Shapers Norfolk (GSN)
produced a final report, titled #WeAre757Millenials, based on responses from Millennials. Everything

Bilbo s The Big Adventure And Bilbo Essay
A week has passed since the big adventure and Bilbo is now taking some time to relax at his home that
he has missed so much. As Bilbo was watching TV on his couch he saw a strange commercial appear.
The commercial was about a new dimension that was recently founded by an elf. This new dimension
caught Bilbo s eye, as he found it looked very interesting and odd. Bilbo immediately thought to
himself that he must visit there one day, but how? , he asked himself. Bilbo had no idea how he would
get to this strange new dimension nor when he would have the guts to step back outside again. Despite
Bilbo still being shook up from the last adventure, he figured that if he traveled to this foreign place;
there would be no one accompanying him to push him around or anything, he would have no specific
demands, and he wouldn t have to face any dangerous obstacles, or so he thought. While Bilbo was
still pondering about when or if he would travel to this new place, he heard a knock at his door. Bilbo
went to see who was at the door hesitantly, since he could not remember if he had invited someone
over or not. As he opened the door to his surprise, he saw another hobbit who was just a little shorter
than him and had looked like he was all beaten up. Bilbo saw that he did not look like he was in a
good condition. Bilbo immediately took him in and started asking questions. Are you okay? Who are
you? What happened to you? Where do you come from? Do you need a place to stay? , asked Bilbo

Lack of Professional Human Resource Workforce A mechanized information framework requires

While trying to give a reasonable point of view of the accessible mechanical methodologies that can

drawbacks of every combination technology, specifically, message and question arranged
advancements.
Electronic data interchange
For a long time, EDIFACT has been the most broadly utilized convention for EDI messages.
Numerous healthcare associations, and also businesses in different commercial enterprises, have
utilized the EDI approach as a part of request to trade particular space records towards the end of work
serious assignments. As a rule, EDI encourages the application to application electronic trade of
linguistically organized information arranged reports. However, over the years it has become apparent
that healthcare communication standards, such as EDI messages, fail to effectively establish
requirements for the internal structure and architecture of communicating systems, requiring the
information in any one system to be mapped twice: once into the message standard format by the
contributing system, and once back into the internal representation of the receiving system (Dudeck,
1998).Although the EDI approach achieves integration at the data level, it does not provide process
integration. Thus, it has been characterised by many as a complex technology owing to the daunting
task of the mapping

Wireless Vulnerabilities
The world of wireless networks as we all know is one of the most rapidly growing areas in our world
today. With the massive amount of data that is going on, the cloud the security of all of our data is
questioned. As well with so many of our day to day tasks relying on our wireless capabilities it make
you wonder how safe is it to rely so heavily on something. We have to ask the questions what are the
key vulnerabilities of wireless networks and even just of networks in general. Different types of
networks have different levels of safety and it is a good idea to know not only which are safe but the

As well as PlayStation we the same group hit another gaming community named Blizzard and
launched many DDoS attacks taking down their online gaming servers for hours at a time over the
period of a few days. The group that took responsibility was called LizardSquad, they have also been
known to target a website called KrebsonSecurity[dot]com. On KrebsonSecurty they have proof of
people from the LizardSquad organization trying to find new hackers which is a debatable term for
someone that DDoS s considering DDoS ing requires virtually no skill, and asking for them applicants
to take down one of two sites. If they could accomplish this task then they could join the LizardSquad
group of hackers or as KrebsonSecurity calls them, a gaggle of young misfits that has long tried to
silence this web site. Another example of DDoS is a more drastic when the hacktivist anonymous used
DDoS attacks in 2006 and 2007 to cost Hal Turner and his radio show that some considered to be
politically incorrect thousands of dollars in bandwidth bills that his radio show eventually went under.
Hal Turner eventually attempted to sue the hacking group but the suit was soon dropped by the courts.

The Leadership Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey
Homer demonstrates leadership through the epic hero character Odysseus by illustrating his
courageous and brave traits on difficult situations. As Odysseus and his crew were facing the sirens,
Odysseus felt power and confidence, enhancing his strategies. When Odysseus s shipmates cowered in
fear of the sirens, Odysseus kept his calmness and gave orders: Get the oarshafts in your hands... hit
these breaking seas... the rudders are your duty... steer for that head land... (1135). Even though
Odysseus s shipmates were given advice about the sirens from Circe, the author explains how the epic
hero Odysseus took control and told his shipmates what to do. Odysseus kept his nerve and wit in
fearful situations because of his natural leader personality. Even ... Show more content on

Opponents say that Odysseus uses his accomplishments to gain fame and glory. However, Odysseus
would have never thought of that due to the dangerous situations he faces that may cost his life. For
example, as Odysseus and his crew were continuing on their journey, they encountered the Sirens who
had lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say Untie
me! to the crew, jerking my brows; but they bent steady to the oars (1134). Homer portrays the epic
hero, Odysseus, as the element, victorious from a dangerous situation because the Sirens were
powerful enough to bewitch any men with their voices. Nonetheless, Odysseus followed the advice
given from Circe and secured himself by wrapping his arms around the pole of the boat and covering
the ears of his crew members. Odysseus knew how dangerous this could ve been, but still decided to
risk his and crew member s lives and sail through it. Another reason would be Odysseus s raging pride
that can make others in danger. While this is not entirely inaccurate, he does have an understanding of
the responsibilities it takes to be a leader. For instance, in order to persuade Zeus to help Odysseus,
Athena defends how he fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (1104). Leadership is
displayed in a way when the author references how Odysseus was a brave and unselfish epic hero by
putting his shipmates before him. This could suggest that he cares deeply for his shipmates and feels
responsible if something were to happen to them on his behalf. Critics may have wondered if
Odysseus is truly an epic hero due to his true intentions and how his pride can put others danger, but
his willingness to overcome these tough obstacles and face these kinds of situations is only something

Environmental Effects Of Sodium Bleach
Bleach or sodium hypochlorite is a common household cleaner in an average Canadian home, but
what is the effect of bleach on human health? Some background information about bleach before we
begin is that it is a pale yellow liquid that has a chlorine odor (Sodium 2016). The manufacturers
generally supply bleach as a dilute aqueous solution because it is extremely reactive and unstable.
Bleach will eventually decompose into a variety of by products, such as oxygen, chlorine gas, and salt
(Schueller 2014). To prevent this decomposition from occurring too rapidly, bleach should be stored
away from light or heat. The active ingredient in sodium hypochlorite; consists of a negatively

Chlorine bleach is a strong corrosive solution, which can irritate skin. In addition to being corrosive, if
bleach is inhaled the fumes can damage lungs, creating respiratory problems (Blog 2016). Therefore,
when bleach is used often, without the proper personal protective equipment, such as gloves and
masks, it can create a strain on the body. This can increase the likelihood of asthma and allergy
symptoms (Beyond 2016). Even low levels of bleach released into air and water can accumulate over
time, which can affect our immune system, blood, and heart leading to long term health risks (Beyond
2016). Furthermore, at high concentrations of vapor or mist a person can develop a heart condition,
chronic respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis or obstructive lung disease (Facts 2016).Some
immediate signs and symptoms to look out for, if you have been exposed to bleach for prolonged
periods are blurred vision, redness or blisters on skin if exposed to gas, coughing, chest tightness,
nausea and vomiting, watery eyes, wheezing, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, burning
sensation in the nose, throat and eyes (Facts 2016). If bleach is exposed to certain organic chemicals in
the environment, it can break down into persistent pollutants called volatile organic compounds or
VOCs (VOCS 2016). Being exposed to VOCs in a longer term can cause numerous health risks, such
as cancer and central nervous system damage (VOCS 2016). Bleach can also create toxic fumes when
mixed with other cleaners such as vinegar or ammonia (Blog 2016). These toxic gasses can cause
serious damage such as a bloody nose, headaches, brain damage, it can even result in death (Blog
2016). When using bleach make sure to use protective gear such as rubber gloves and safety glasses or
goggles (Thostenson 2016). Open mixture outside and have all windows in the house open, wash your

Rabies In Marquez s Of Love And Other Demons
In the late 19th century there wasn t a lot known about sickness and cures so it was very likely that
people would turn to magic or religion to resolve any conflicts that presented themselves. This method
of explaining what is unknown is very common in literature through the use of magical realism; it
takes very common and realistic situation that seems to have no logical explanation, and comforts it
with words. This can also be seen in real life history; religion and magic are tools that are used to
comfort the human mind, when there is nothing else to explain the situation at hand. In relation to
Gabriel García Marquez s Of Love and Other Demons, there is little to nothing known about the
illness of rabies as well as it s cure. This lack of intellect and this misunderstanding is what prompts
the characters to blame demonic possession for a young girl s sickness. Demonic possession is a ...

The Importance Of Public Transportation In Urban
Public transportation in rural areas of course operate to serve communities and individuals that live
and work outside of urban areas. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the need for
rural public transportation has historically been linked with providing mobility and accessibility to
essential employment, goods, and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, low income
persons, and others. Perhaps surprisingly, nearly 10% of rural public transportation trips were for
residents seeking medical attention. The public transportation s remaining rides in rural areas provide
transport for employment and education as well as for social and recreational activities where
residents might not otherwise be inclined or even able to participate in these endeavors. According to
the National Association for State Community Services Programs, low income workers and
households typically reside either in rural locations or in city centers, with modern jobs emerging
further and further away from either of these two locations. For rural Americans and for this reason,
public transportation offers the opportunity to access a better job and a better life. All over the country
rural transportation services have developed to serve the rural communities and the citizens that live in
these areas. According to the Community Transportation Association of America, in 2014 over 1400
agencies provide public transportation in rural and small towns.

The Cell Body
1 The Prototypical Neuron The neuron, also known as the nerve cell, is distinguished by several
components: the soma, the axon, and the dendrites. The soma, or more commonly known as the cell
body, is the semi spherical central part of the neuron. In a typical neuron, it is about 20 um in diameter
and contains the same organelles that are found in all animal cells; a nucleolus, rough endoplasmic
reticulum, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and mitochondria. With all of its inner

The axon begins by extending away from the soma, with the base region being known as the axon
hillock. The axon may then extend to various lengths (depending on the specific tissue/function that
cell pertains to) ranging from less than a millimeter to over a meter; as well as splitting into numerous
axon collaterals (axons that branch away from the original axon). As for the thickness of the axon, it
ranges from less than a millimeter to 25 mm in diameter (in humans) with the speed of electrical
impulses (nerve impulse) directly proportional to the thickness of the axon. At the end of the axon, is
the axon terminal or terminal bouton: which can be described as a swollen disk or button, where the
axon comes into contact with another neuron, or another cell (e.g. muscle cell) by which information
may be passed onto. This interface point is known as a synapse with the end of the axon known as the
presynaptic terminal; in this structure there are multiple synaptic vesicles (that average 50 nm in
diameter) with various chemical signals (neurotransmitters) used for synaptic transmission (the
process of information transfer). The membrane surrounding the synapse is heavily dense with
proteins and ion channels, in order to receive and traffic the

Analysis Of Stolen Childhood
In the book entitled Stolen Childhood, Second Edition: Slave Youth in Nineteenth Century America,
the thesis of which the author speaks is clearly stated in the concluding sentence of the fourth
paragraph of the introduction which says that slaves were made to work like adults even though some
were still young. They also had to face all the same conditions as adults. Far from being childlike
throughout their lives, slaves were forced to confront adult situations of work, terror, injustice, and
arbitrary power at an early age. Slaves almost had no childhood. Slave owners made youngsters start
working at 4 5 years of age. Also, in the book it mentions that the children played games (whites and
blacks played together) in which the black children were made to feel like they were lesser than the
white children. This made them feel injustice. Furthermore, children witnessed the cruel and hostile
beatings which their parents received from their owners, leaving marks and scars all over their bodies.
This made fear and terror become a frequent concern in their everyday lives. Once reaching the
middle of the book, the author had made her thesis convincing by showing situations in which young
slaves faced injustice, fear, and difficult situations of work in their everyday lives. Many of her
arguments made her thesis stronger and stronger which made it persuading. But more specifically, the
reasons why it was convincing is because one of her points states that when children were

Art, Art And Art
Art, one of the most important ways for individuals to express their thoughts and feelings about
things. Painting is one of the many artistic forms used to communicate the aforementioned. Paintings
are often displayed at museums or art galleries in order to allow people to admire them and analyze
their meaning. A painting that is displayed at the Albright Knox art gallery in Buffalo, New York is La
Vie Paysanne. French Russian artist, Marc Chagall, painted La Vie Paysanne in the year 1925. In La
Vie Paysanne, the subject matter is the life of the peasants in France. This is portrayed by the many
symbols in the painting, such as the way in which the people are dressed in very simple garments. The
small house represents their humble living style, and the portrayal of the man feeding the horse shows
us the very simple life that peasants lived. In order to achieve a meaningful work of art, artists often
use visual elements as well as principles of design. Visual elements are what make up a work of art.
There are several types of visual elements. Among these are line, shape, form, space, value, color, and
texture. When first examining La Vie Paysanne, we can find many visual elements. One of the visual
elements in the painting is line. For example the contour lines that define the edges in the house

parts of the store as this link leads to the display of many of their products. Sales and discounts can
encourage so called trial and repeat purchases. Retailers can use special offers such as buy one get one

Pill Bug Lab Report
Food Preferences in the Sow Bug (Porcellio Laevis)
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to determine what kind of food the sow bug prefers; decaying
leaves, potatoes, grapes, or sow bug food.
Hypothesis
If a sow bug is placed in a choice tray, and has access to decaying leaves, potatoes, grapes, and sow
bug food, the sow bug will choose the decaying leaves over its other options. This hypothesis was
based on research stating that a sow bug s main food source is decaying vegetation. This is the food
they are accustomed to and therefore will select over the other three options which they rarely if ever
would have access to.
Materials
Twelve sow bugs
Bisected grapes
Chunks of potato
Decaying leaves
Pinch of sow bug food ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This information would suggest that the sow bugs were not especially interested in food at the time the
experiment took place.
The data gathered might not have been conclusive in discovering the preferred food source of sow
bugs, but it at least showed that the decaying leaves were what they were attracted to for whatever
reason. This information could be used in a variety of different ways. It would be helpful in pest
control as well as in keeping a sow bug alive. For people who consider sow bugs a nuisance, the data
could reduce the population of sow bugs in certain areas by removing the decaying leaves. This would
make the habitat less inviting and therefore discourage the presence of sow bugs.
When relating the information to a wider variety of topics, even though the information was not
conclusive, it came to attention that the preference of habitat or food source in sow bugs has a major
effect on the areas in which they live and on the organisms survival. Whether it is because of food
and/or environmental related issues the fact that the sow bugs preferred to reside in and/or eat the
decaying leaves shows that areas with significant quantities of decaying leaves have a chance of being
affected by sow bugs. Because decaying matter is a main food source for sow bugs it could be
assumed that if sow bugs resided in an area containing decaying leaves, they would also be ingesting
them. This would have an impact on that environment. When the sow bugs eat the

The Partition Of The India
Partition Novel: The partition novel is official histories of Pakistan sub scribe to the two nation theory
and argues that the Pakistan nation was the inevitable crystallization of the desire of the muslims of
the Indian subcontinent to remain a distinctive community, separate from the Hindu population around
them. Indian was partitioned on a two nation theory and despite the best efforts of Mahatma Gandhi
and others of his ilk, It could not be averted. Now it is time to assess whether India has lived up to the
vision of Mahatma Gandhi and Pakistan of mohd Ali Jinnah. The partition of the country, as
envisioned by Jinnah and Gandhi, was not a division in a family between two brothers, it turned out to
be a division between two enimiesand the enmity so born then continuity to plague the two nations

Law Enforcement Leadership Is Essential For Every Police...
Law Enforcement Leadership Outline
I. Law Enforcement Leadership
a. Strong law enforcement leadership is essential for every police organization.
i. The influencing people can involve both what a manager does and how the manger does it (Dean,
2013, p. 306). ii. Lack of leadership competency is often the most critical obstacle to successful police
projects (Yang, 2012, p. 535).
b. To create an organization with great leaders, the organization has to be able to help create those
leaders.
i. It is important to understand and determine the factors that have an effect on or predict leadership
style in order to prepare leaders for the future more effectively, to teach them how to keep followers

i. local police departments must balance the competing challenges that urban counterterrorism
initiatives raise from security, law enforcement, intelligence and civil liberties perspectives (Silber,
2013, p. 150). ii. After the events of the Boston marathon bombings, Boston police, the FBI, and other
agencies came together as one without regard to politics or infighting (Youngwirth, 2013, p. 24). iii.
Failure to thwart the attacks using available information has been interpreted as indicating a need for a
more comprehensive and strategic coordination of intelligence (Schaible, 2012, p. 761)
b. When it comes to collaboration between agencies, there is very little for department to turn to as a
guide. This creates more problems between agencies determining who does what.
i. Though there are a few mechanisms that create some degree of commonality, such as the U.S.
Constitution as well as federal laws and grants, there is no centralized authority responsible for
coordinating the cornucopia of law enforcement agencies existing at every level of government
(Stewart, 2011, p. 409).
IV. Public Perception
a. The way leaders use their power greatly affects the way in which the community they serve
perceives them.
i. While elected officials are charged with managing the administration of criminal justice, they
always do so with an eye toward politics, and herein lies an important source of the tension between

Titanic Essay
Titanic Essay
Many people across the world watch films. It is so popular because it puts a story on the screen and
into life so that people can see it.
People watch films for the entertainment value, or are simply too lazy to read and enjoy the magic of a
book.
The advantages of watching a film at the cinema rather than on video is the bigger screen, and the
surround sound, also the atmosphere. This all adds up and creates a bigger impact than a video.
People make films to tell a story or get a message across, such as Pearl Harbour, which tells us the
story of a real historical event through the eyes of a fictional love story, very much like Titanic. Or
Shrek, which puts a message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this on Titanic is when they go from the back of the boat to the front.
They also use Sound Effect to make what is happening sound more real, such as an explosion or band.
They also use backing tracks, which can be used to emphasise the emotion a character is feeling. For
example, if it was sad, they might use a love song.
They use costume to show you what time something was set it, or the class of the people, particularly
shown in Titanic, as Jack is very poor and Rose is rich. The characters who wear the costumes are also
very important. They have to look the part and sound the part, not just be able to read the lines. They
have to act the way a person of that time would.
For my GCSE coursework, I will be writing a Media essay on Titanic, which was directed by James
Caremon. It was made in 1997, and was the most expensive film made at the time. It won many
awards, and is one of the great love stories told, based on a real historical event.
The Titanic was quoted as being Titanic, wasn t just another ship, it was bigger, faster, and more
luxurious than any other ship before her. She had two sister ships, The Olympic and The Britannic, all
of which were owned by White Star Line, a series of very luxurious ships. It was built in Harland and
Wolff Shipyard, and was 882 ft 6 inches, by 92 ft 6 inches. It had 2212 people onboard, 20 lifeboats,

The Woman Warrior Summary
In Maxine Hong Kingston s The Woman Warrior , in chapter 2 White Tigers Kingston says that
Chinese immigrants say things such as better to raise geese than girls . They also say Chinese
executed women who disguised themselves as soldiers or students, no matter how bravely they fought
or how high they scored on the examinations . I argue that in doing this, the texts suggest shockingly,
that Chinese immigrants continue to treat woman as if they are worthless, which is why Maxine Hong
Kingston compares herself to Mulan. She just wants to honor her family and feel accepted. Kingston
wants to honor her family once and for all. In order to do so, Kingston completes fifteen years of
training. At the age of fourteen she wants to save her Brother and Husband but her mentors tell
Kingston she is not ready to fight, that she is too young. What was so intriguing about this situation
was when Kingston said When I could point at the sky and make a sword appear, a silver bolt in the
sunlight, and control its slashing with my mind, the old people said I was ready to leave . This shows
that the sword flying in the air represents Chinese culture. Kingston then continues to say I saw the
baron s messenger leave our house, and my father was saying, This time I must go and fight , taking
her father s place. Kingston then pretends to be a man, becoming a great warrior, wearing male armor
and commanding men who fight under her. What was most shocking

1.1. Introduction
Change, in general, indicates any act of making something different. The factors that necessitate
change in organizations are broadly categorized into people, technology, information processing and
communication, and competition. Some changes in the organization occur suddenly without the
conscious efforts of the people. These are called unplanned changes. On the other hand, some changes
are initiated by the management to accomplish certain goals and objectives. These are called planned
changes. More often, change is met with resistance.
The resistance can be implicit (or covert) or explicit (or overt). Resistance to change can be classified

In the mid 2007 the Management decided to merge the companies of the Commercial Cluster which
comprised of 5 Companies. The main intention was to increase the performance with synergized effort

The company restructuring created an uncertainty in the minds of everyone where everyone was
clueless what really was happening. With a lot of resistance and heaps and bounds the restructuring of

Research Paper On Queen Victoria
he Victorian Era is the era in which Queen Victoria ruled England. During this time period, Queen
Victoria set many regulations, demands and expectations in regards to women fashion and lifestyle.
Queen Victoria is recognized for her keen and unmistakable profile; as well as her seventy years of
kinship in England and her actions and demands amongst women of that time period and as well as in
that society. She established strict, personal morals for women in that era and explicit demands of the
way women were supposed to dress, whether it was inside or outside, they were expected to dress in a
certain way. In the video that was shown based on Queen Victoria and her outlook on women, it was
said that women spent most of their time changing clothes. In Queen Victoria s point of view, women
could only be considered as a proper lady only if they followed the morals and code of etiquette. This
idea was proposed by the Queen herself, but after a while it began to disintegrate due to the different
ideas that were publicized in magazines. Over time, women were becoming suffragists. They were
influenced by the ideas that were posted in magazines as to what the ideal woman was and they began
to protest for their rights and for equality. In the quote that was said by her, she says, Feminists ought
to get a whipping. This just goes to show that she disagreed with them, showed no interests in the
rights of equality for women and that those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Responses to the Challenge of Amoralism
ABSTRACT: To the question Why should I be moral? there is a simple answer (SA) that some

Or perhaps it is (d) a request for a motive to be moral.
(2) If Alf s question is of type (a) or (c), it s silly. Nothing could be more obvious than that Alf has a
moral reason to be moral. It s a plain fact that being moral is the moral thing to do it s the option
justified from the moral point of view and this is clearly a reason for Alf to be moral.
(3) If Alf s question is of type (b) or (d) it s unreasonable; hence we need not bother with it. Moral
philosophy aims at rational persuasion, not at generating motives to act. Nor does it aim to justify
morality in terms of prudence, law, custom, or etiquette. Indeed, such a justification is impossible. But
we should not be disturbed about this. The moral life is not called into question by showing that it
does not reduce to a concern for custom, prudence, etc., any more than prudence is called into
question by showing that it does not reduce to a concern for morality.
(4) Thus, Alf s question is silly or unreasonable. We need not bother with it.
SR can be set out as follows:
(I) Responses to Why should I be moral? that treat the question as illegitimate, SA being one such
response, fail to envision all the things the question might express. Very likely, Alf s question is not of
kind (a), (b), (c) or (d). Instead, it s

Christianity, By Clive Staples Lewis
In Mere Christianity, Clive Staples Lewis, known as C.S Lewis known best for his writing, and being
a Christian apologist, divides the novel into 4 different section. Each book emphasizes the struggles he
has faced and overcome as well as personal life lessons he has learned. The first section, Right and
Wrong as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe focus on moral law and the law of nature. Christians
Believe, second section, corresponds with his life because Lewis has had many interviews defending
his faith and studied the Bible thoroughly. In the third book, Christian Behaviour. It talks about all of
the different types of morals and behaviors Christians are called to follow because Lewis has studied
into Jesus s teaching he has a deeper understanding of what Jesus has called his followers to be.
Lastly, Beyond Personality: or First steps in the Doctrine of the Trinity, is about the first steps and the
process of becoming a Christian. Lewis went from an atheist to a highly Christian figure in the church
and believer society resulting into a lot of personal knowledge of the topics in his novel. C.S. Lewis s
life influences his writing in Mere Christianity through his ability to portray the foundation of
Christianity from the growth made from both his believer and non believer life, using the amount of
studies and research done defending the views of atheists and Christians, his studies in people and
Christian behavior, and finally how his intimate growth as a godly person

Why Do Bees Have A Sense Of Smell
During the early 1900s, two experiments were performed to determine whether bees have a sense of
smell. Experiment 1 Identical cardboard boxes with removable covers were set up on a table. Each
individual box had a door opening for bees. A dish of sugar water that was scented with a fragrant oil
was placed in one box, and all the other boxes were left empty. After the bees had been exploring the
boxes for many hours, it was evident that the bees could very easily find the fragrant sugar water even
after the boxes had been switched to different places. After the initial training period, clean boxes were
prepared for the bees. No sugar water was used; however, the same fragrant oil was used to scent one
box. Bees continued to buzz around

Renaissance Influence On The Historical And Social...
Renaissance Influence on the Historical and Social Significance of Self Portraiture During the
Renaissance, artists were acquiring status and the technical means to create a new genre of art called
self portraiture (Bond). Portraits are defined as having a likeness of a specific individual (Adams).
However, self portraits do not only have a likeness of the artist but also a sense of psychology that
connects the viewer to the artist. This connection gives the self portrait a depth of complexity that
even portraits do not always achieve. Following the development of self portraiture, one must
transverse the development of portraiture. Then one must follow self portraits connection to
portraiture and self portraits own unique development. Then one must recognize the influence of the
society on the value of the artist and their artworks. In order to understand the significance of the
development of self portraiture, one must have some familiarity with the history of portraiture and its
development as a whole. Portraiture is a facet of the artistic community that retains a deep history
from multiple ancient cultures. In Ancient Egyptian, around fifteen thousand B.C., artists carved out
portraits, mostly of the pharaohs. Also, many of the portraits created were meant to reside in the
patron s tomb upon his or her death. These portraits or funerary statues provided a physical form for
the spirit to use in the afterlife (Walker, Appendix 1). Around two hundred B.C., Romans seemed

  • 2. Sistine Chapel Choir Essay Sistine Chapel Choir The Sistine Chapel Choir was established in the late 1400 s which makes it one of the oldest choirs in the world. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section; meanwhile, the soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the choir, men were castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate. The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The famous reformer Martin Luther praised Josquin Desprez saying, He is a master of notes; they do as he wills, as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery there is very little information on his early life. Josquin Desprez started out as a singer for the choir in 1489 to 1495. He eventually wrote fifteen settings of the mass. Josquin s music is filled with a calm soothing effect. His music has a heavenly feel and an angelic echo that words cannot describe properly. He broke the celibate rule for members; therefore, the church kicked him out of the choir. Although he was no longer a member for the choir, he still wrote compositions for the choir. Palestrina wrote many different compositions. He built up his predecessor s craft and refined them. His work is the pinnacle of renaissance polyphony. His most important work is the Missa Papae Marcelli which saved polyphony music from being discarded from the Roman Catholic Church. The Council of Trent decided the church music was getting to the point where no one could understand the words. After hearing Missa Papae Marcelli the council decided the words could be understood and should be kept; therefore, saving the polyphony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Plum Point Park Essay Issue Proposition Plum Point Park was once a place for sprouted overgrown weeds and rotting piers. Through initiative and optimism, West Ghent Civic League proposed to transition the bleak plot of land into a permanent park in the early 1990 s. 10 years and $1.5 million later, the park is now considered an open natural refuge for local residents and home for various wildlife living along the Elizabeth River. Granted Plum Point Park is an artificial park, there is still a lot of potentials that the park can amount to. Due to the lack of green spaces and aesthetically appealing areas throughout the park, the scenery can become very monotonous. • 4. Bilbo s The Big Adventure And Bilbo Essay A week has passed since the big adventure and Bilbo is now taking some time to relax at his home that he has missed so much. As Bilbo was watching TV on his couch he saw a strange commercial appear. The commercial was about a new dimension that was recently founded by an elf. This new dimension caught Bilbo s eye, as he found it looked very interesting and odd. Bilbo immediately thought to himself that he must visit there one day, but how? , he asked himself. Bilbo had no idea how he would get to this strange new dimension nor when he would have the guts to step back outside again. Despite Bilbo still being shook up from the last adventure, he figured that if he traveled to this foreign place; there would be no one accompanying him to push him around or anything, he would have no specific demands, and he wouldn t have to face any dangerous obstacles, or so he thought. While Bilbo was still pondering about when or if he would travel to this new place, he heard a knock at his door. Bilbo went to see who was at the door hesitantly, since he could not remember if he had invited someone over or not. As he opened the door to his surprise, he saw another hobbit who was just a little shorter than him and had looked like he was all beaten up. Bilbo saw that he did not look like he was in a good condition. Bilbo immediately took him in and started asking questions. Are you okay? Who are you? What happened to you? Where do you come from? Do you need a place to stay? , asked Bilbo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Leadership Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey Homer demonstrates leadership through the epic hero character Odysseus by illustrating his courageous and brave traits on difficult situations. As Odysseus and his crew were facing the sirens, Odysseus felt power and confidence, enhancing his strategies. When Odysseus s shipmates cowered in fear of the sirens, Odysseus kept his calmness and gave orders: Get the oarshafts in your hands... hit these breaking seas... the rudders are your duty... steer for that head land... (1135). Even though Odysseus s shipmates were given advice about the sirens from Circe, the author explains how the epic hero Odysseus took control and told his shipmates what to do. Odysseus kept his nerve and wit in fearful situations because of his natural leader personality. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opponents say that Odysseus uses his accomplishments to gain fame and glory. However, Odysseus would have never thought of that due to the dangerous situations he faces that may cost his life. For example, as Odysseus and his crew were continuing on their journey, they encountered the Sirens who had lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say Untie me! to the crew, jerking my brows; but they bent steady to the oars (1134). Homer portrays the epic hero, Odysseus, as the element, victorious from a dangerous situation because the Sirens were powerful enough to bewitch any men with their voices. Nonetheless, Odysseus followed the advice given from Circe and secured himself by wrapping his arms around the pole of the boat and covering the ears of his crew members. Odysseus knew how dangerous this could ve been, but still decided to risk his and crew member s lives and sail through it. Another reason would be Odysseus s raging pride that can make others in danger. While this is not entirely inaccurate, he does have an understanding of the responsibilities it takes to be a leader. For instance, in order to persuade Zeus to help Odysseus, Athena defends how he fought only to save his life, to bring his shipmates home (1104). Leadership is displayed in a way when the author references how Odysseus was a brave and unselfish epic hero by putting his shipmates before him. This could suggest that he cares deeply for his shipmates and feels responsible if something were to happen to them on his behalf. Critics may have wondered if Odysseus is truly an epic hero due to his true intentions and how his pride can put others danger, but his willingness to overcome these tough obstacles and face these kinds of situations is only something Odysseus can ... Rabies In Marquez s Of Love And Other Demons In the late 19th century there wasn t a lot known about sickness and cures so it was very likely that people would turn to magic or religion to resolve any conflicts that presented themselves. This method of explaining what is unknown is very common in literature through the use of magical realism; it takes very common and realistic situation that seems to have no logical explanation, and comforts it with words. This can also be seen in real life history; religion and magic are tools that are used to comfort the human mind, when there is nothing else to explain the situation at hand. In relation to Gabriel García Marquez s Of Love and Other Demons, there is little to nothing known about the illness of rabies as well as it s cure. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the need for rural public transportation has historically been linked with providing mobility and accessibility to essential employment, goods, and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, low income persons, and others. Perhaps surprisingly, nearly 10% of rural public transportation trips were for residents seeking medical attention. The public transportation s remaining rides in rural areas provide transport for employment and education as well as for social and recreational activities where residents might not otherwise be inclined or even able to participate in these endeavors. According to the National Association for State Community Services Programs, low income workers and households typically reside either in rural locations or in city centers, with modern jobs emerging further and further away from either of these two locations. For rural Americans and for this reason, public transportation offers the opportunity to access a better job and a better life. As for the thickness of the axon, it ranges from less than a millimeter to 25 mm in diameter (in humans) with the speed of electrical impulses (nerve impulse) directly proportional to the thickness of the axon. At the end of the axon, is the axon terminal or terminal bouton: which can be described as a swollen disk or button, where the axon comes into contact with another neuron, or another cell (e.g. muscle cell) by which information may be passed onto. This interface point is known as a synapse with the end of the axon known as the presynaptic terminal; in this structure there are multiple synaptic vesicles (that average 50 nm in diameter) with various chemical signals (neurotransmitters) used for synaptic transmission (the process of information transfer). Renaissance Influence on the Historical and Social Significance of Self Portraiture During the Renaissance, artists were acquiring status and the technical means to create a new genre of art called self portraiture (Bond). Portraits are defined as having a likeness of a specific individual (Adams). However, self portraits do not only have a likeness of the artist but also a sense of psychology that connects the viewer to the artist. This connection gives the self portrait a depth of complexity that even portraits do not always achieve. Following the development of self portraiture, one must transverse the development of portraiture. Then one must follow self portraits connection to portraiture and self portraits own unique development. Then one must recognize the influence of the society on the value of the artist and their artworks.
