Verbal And Nonverbal Language Of Whales
Language of Whales
One would not think to compare humans with cetaceans such as whales. The cetacean brain is
comparable to the size of the human brain, and is as complex as the human brain, although its
structure is evolved differently (Sato 1).Whales are similar to humans in that they are able to
communicate, have many languages, and learn from one another. With limited sight and sense of smell
in water, marine mammals are more dependent on sound which travels four times faster in water than
air to communicate (Keely 1). This means that whales are mainly dependent on sound for things such
as communication and echolocation. Echolocation is an important tool whales use to navigate their
way around the ocean, and without communication, it is unlikely that whales or any species would
survive for long. Whales communicate to find mates, teach their calves, show aggression, show
intimacy, and warn others of predators.
Whales interact with each other through verbal and nonverbal language. When it comes to verbal
communication, whale are divided into two categories, toothed whales and baleen whales. The toothed
whale suborder converses through the use of high pitched clicks and whistles, and this is possible
because all species under this suborder have teeth. Baleen whales are equipped with baleen plates that
have bristles attached to them which are used to produce low frequency sounds. It is deep melodic
sounds the baleen whales make that are referred to as
whale songs .

Analysis Of A Harbor In Moonlight
Claude Joseph Vernet is a very largely known French artist from the early 1700 s. He has been known
to be one of the best landscape painters of all time. Vernet paints from a different perspective than
many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous
including A Harbor in Moonlight which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum.
A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught my eye was the
different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My first reaction was a sense of calmness
and relief. There are many reasons that I got the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is
the arrangements of lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this
piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it, it is very dull
and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere near the same result as the
lighting.
It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something. Just by looking at
it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the picture. The main sources of light that
stood out to me were the fire, moon, lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the
water. All of them provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of
security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come

Establishing a popular culture or becoming a celebrity has...
Establishing a popular culture or becoming a celebrity has been a desire of many. The rewards in this
life are the admiration and esteem of others, and the punishments in this life are contempt and neglect.
In fact, the desire for the esteem of others is as real a want of nature as hunger, while the contempt and
neglect of the world are as severe as a pain.
The story of how Apple invented the wireless business has been told by many people, numerous times.
The first iPhone that was shown off by Steve Jobs back in 2007 during the annual Macworld

Apparently, this came as a surprise to the Apple employees who were working on the iPhone destined
software apps, and to Steve himself (Sorensen). As a response to this, Apple simply created more
devices free from Google s reach. In fact, the iPhone opened up new doors for many consumers,
which really enhanced its fame (Sorensen). For the first time, consumers had a mobile device that
made it easy to read books and magazines, as well as watch movies and television shows (Sorensen),
along with enhancing efficient communication across the world s geographical locations.
As described by many who entrust it, the iPhone is regarded as a product of no conspiracy that does
not promote vice or emptiness. The iPhone is produced by honest and industrious men of high
professional ethics, doing their job with a focus on informing and educating the global society.
Essentially, through his iPhone invention, Steve Jobs is made by all of us who willingly read about
him, who like to see him on television, who buy recordings of his voice and books, and talk about him
to our friends. However, just like the other celebrities across the world, his relation to morality and
even to reality is highly ambiguous.
The iPhone firstly captured its popularity in the in the country of origin, the United States. This was

San Joaquin River Project Analysis
Should California spent a heavy amount of money on a River Project?
This project is called the San Joaquin River Restoration. They had to rebuild the river so that the
salmon and fishes can swim back and forth. It cost them only $400 dollars to rebuild the dry river.I
agree with Daniel Weintraub because he s been the public affairs columnist for the editorial pages of
Sacramento Bee since November 2000. Daniel Weintraub has been covering California politics and a
public policy for 22 years, also including the last 18 years in Sacramento. I choose this statement
because I think California should invest money in this project because it can help us in many ways and
so that we can have a better economy. The Sacramento Bee, April 26,2009 is the newspaper where this
article was published in. I believe the SJRP was worth the $400 dollars because of the experts that
supported the numerous studies that proved it would work and help California and the positive impact
this project would have on people emotionally. I strongly agree with this San Joaquin River Project
because it can help and benefit people in many great ways. For example the San Joaquin River is
critical to revitalizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

in the river. The second problem, there is no funding for dams or river recirculation technology that
would maximize Sierra water runoff and lessen the economic devastation to some San Joaquin Valley

The Use Of Immunotherapy And Genetic Engineering
Organ transplants save thousands of lives each year and are one of the most significant medical
innovations of the past century. Despite that, each year, the number of patients on the waiting list
continues to grow, while the number of donors and transplants remains stagnant. One solution
scientists are investigating to solve this problem is xenotransplantation, a procedure which involves
the transplantation, implantation, or infusion of live cells, tissues, or organs from a non primate source
into a primate recipient (Samdani). This procedure has the potential to benefit thousands by providing
a treatment for a wide range of debilitating diseases and aiding in the transplantation process.
However, like any other surgical procedure, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only will xenotransplantation cure diseases, but will also serve as a source of organs and tissues
for transplant. Worldwide, very few human organs are available for transplantation, which results in
ailing patients waiting in vain for a suitable donor. According to UNOS, a non profit that manages the
nation s organ transplant system, more than 118,804 Americans are waiting for an organ transplant as
of January 2017 ( Data ). The increasing imbalance between the supply and demand for organs,
therefore opens the door to xenotransplantation as a solution. Xenografts could serve as an unlimited
supply of cells, tissues, and organs (Kleaner). Furthermore, xenotransplantation can also be used to
buy time while potential transplant patients wait for a suitable donor. Dr. Michler, surgeon in Chief at
Montefiore Medical Center, views xenotransplants as a bridge, buying time of months until [an organ]
is found (Tanne). According to Medscape, a web resource for physicians, most patients perceive
xenotransplantation as an acceptable bridge to transplantation of human organs in life threatening
situations (Samdani). Bridge transplants can ease the current shortage of organs until researchers find
a more permanent solution. It provides patients in dire situations an opportunity to keep holding on to
life. Xenotransplantation has proven advantageous in numerous disciplines of medicine.
Nevertheless, opponents of xenotransplantation such as the Campaign for Reasonable

Dear Johannes,
1 am not surprised of the outcome of your meeting with Mr. Smythe Jones (CFO). However, I cannot
answer your request until I heard from local management. As it was agreed on the last meeting, we
were precluded ,from doing any work without first getting approval from management at the
headquarters and we were instructed by local management from doing anything until they finalized
what was required from us. It appears to me to be a Catch 22 game! 1 believe we (your Firm and ours)
should not fall in the game of passing the ball to someone else before getting a clear understanding of
what is going on. We have had several meetings with local management where the issue has been
raised and were responded that other priorities were established by the headquarters (on my end I
thought they tell you everything they have been instructed of locally, unfortunately it does not seem to
be the case). In my opinion it looks very easy that you accept from management at the headquarters to
hold us accountable from something we are not responsible for, and this does not mean I do not
understand the pressure you are receiving on your end. However, we are not the enemy. 1 am not

Music During The 19th Century
For thousands of years, music has been a significant part of daily life. Spanning through time, we have
seen an incalculable amount of talented musicians that have transformed our world; unfortunately, a
copious amount of their work was unable to be captured as the technology was not advanced enough.
It wasn t until around 200 years that we were finally able to uphold a copy. Within the past century,
there have been multiple improvements to the process of recording music; one of the most important
is the invention of vinyl.
During the 19th century, the invention of vinyl began. Inventors tried various renditions of disc
records, but many of them suffered a high level of surface noise. In 1930, RCA Victor was the first
company to launch a vinyl music record to the public; however, there was still ... Show more content

This creation started the never ending process of improving the recording device. Throughout the past
fifty years, there have been products such as cassette tapes, 8 tracks, and CD s that have further
improved the sound and convenience of music recording devices. Instead of a 12 inch vinyl record, we
are now able to listen to music through an application on our cellular devices. All of this was made
possible through the invention of a vinyl music record.
Vinyl records will always be remembered as an iconic creation for the music industry and world as a
whole. This development brought music into the homes of millions of individuals for them to enjoy. It
provided musicians with a new, major profit which supported many struggling. While vinyl records
may be seen as a thing of the past, they have made a monumental comeback in 2013, increasing by
52%. Currently, over 9 million units are sold annually. In the digital age, vinyl records are still adored
by millions of individuals and will continue to be for many years to

The Messenger by Markus Zusak
THE MESSENGER By Markus Zusak Setting the scene: Ed Kennedy is a 19 year old cab driver with
no real respect for himself. He wishes he could be something greater, but feels there s no way to
accomplish this. He lives with a dog ( The Doorman ) that smells like death in a shack owned by his
boss (CEO of Vacant Taxis ). Ed grew up in a less developed part of town and after graduating from
high school, went straight into the work force, having not applied himself thoroughly enough to get
into university. His mother, Bev, still lives in the house where Ed grew up, and has developed a strong
swearing habit, a bad temper, and a penchant for hating Ed. Ed s father died about six months before
the timeline of the story and was the one who passed on The Doorman to him. When not driving his
cab, Ed spends most of the time playing cards with three close friends of his Audrey, Marv and
Ritchie. Audrey is about the same age as Ed and is also a cab driver. Marv is a stingy mate who owns
a shitty car, and Ritchie is a quiet, lazy person who occasionally makes perfectly timed wise cracks at
Marv. Ed is totally in love with Audrey, but too afraid to tell her so, as she is seeing another colleague
of theirs and doesn t want to ruin their friendship by admitting his feelings to her. Part One: The First

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior, or
idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed unquestioningly,
no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out
that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1)
The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly know what the
tradition means but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that drove the theme In Shirley
Jackson s the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and characters as she exemplifies
blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of
what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations
because of the infamous word tradition.
Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the men
s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean white
shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the
story s impact more immediate. But why does the author choose June 27 as the date on which the
village holds its lottery? The summer solstice, June 21, has already passed, and the Fourth of July is

Assisted Suicide And The United States
In today s society it is taught that life is a precious gift and to cherish every second that is allowed, but
what if it is full of endless pain and misery? Starting hundreds of years ago in Ancient Greece up until
modern times with Doctor Kevorkian, physician assisted suicide, and euthanasia are all highly debated
topics that cause both legal and moral dilemmas, but provide patients with benefits such as financial
and pain relief. Assisted suicide should be legalized in the United States to prevent pain and suffering
for the patients and their families. Cultures around the world have been using assisted suicide to
provide an easy and painless death for hundreds of years. Euthanasia, a term created by Suetonius, is

They were big buildings that were equipped with gas chambers, crematoriums, mortuaries, and rooms

what started the endemic of assisted suicide in modern times. Hitler started what was know as the
Euthanasia Program in which the term was changed from Good Death to mass murder of the Jewish
people, Gypsies and the handicapped people of Germany and ultimately started the Holocaust. Hitler
wanted to kill off the people that he did not think were worthy of life. Doctor Jack Kevorkian was the
subject of the most recent assisted suicide debates. Dr. Death, as he was later called, was a pathologist
who was convicted of murder for helping his patients in the act of physician assisted suicide. He was
always interested in death and dying and wanted to help his patients go peacefully instead of suffering.
He had, what he called, a suicide machine set up in an old van and would drive around, at people s
requests, to assist them in killing themselves. Kevorkian was tried multiple times for murder, but
pleaded not guilty until 1999, when the court showed a video of him providing Thomas Youk with
lethal doses of drugs. Although most people think there is only one type of euthanasia there are
actually multiple such as Terminal Sedation, in which drugs are

The Use of Magical Realism in Laura Esquivel s Like Water...
Latin American literature is perhaps best known for its use of magical realism, a literary mode where
the fantastical is seamlessly blended with the ordinary, creating a sort of enhanced reality. Though
magical realism is practiced by authors from other cultures, the works of authors Salman Rushdie and
Toni Morrison, for example, are notable examples of non Latin works in which magical realism has
been used to both great effect and great celebration, it is in the works of Latin American authors where
the style has flourished and made its mark on the literary world. Yet even in Latin American works we
can find many different kinds of magical realism, all used to achieve a different end. In the works of
the Cuban poet and novelist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Esquivel s novel follows the tradition of magical realism in its purest form and creates a welcome
entry into the Latin American canon whereas Borges stories, most written more than forty years prior
to the publication of Esquivel s novel, use magical realism in a much more complex way and
ultimately forge a literary tradition of their own. From the very first page of Laura Esquivel s Like
Water for Chocolate it is clear that the real world in which her characters inhabit shall be greatly
exaggerated. When Esquivel s narrator describes Tita as being so sensitive to onions that when she
was still in my great grandmother s belly her sobs were so loud that even Nacha, the cook, who was
half deaf, could hear them easily. (Esquivel, p. 5) the reader encounters something at once refreshing,
as is always the case when one experiences the supernatural where least expected, and yet ancient at
the same time. While Esquivel could have attempted to tell her story, really the tale of a (mostly)
unrequited love, in a straightforward manner, the casual inclusion of the extraordinary places it
immediately in the tradition of magical realism. Esquivel s novel is awash in such images and these
might have been jarring to casual English readers had it not followed so closely in the tradition of
what is perhaps the most famous and most widely read work of magical realism, Gabriel Garcia
Marquez s 1967 novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. Esquivel s novel, like

Back Brace Essay
31 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. It is the number one cause of
disability worldwide. Also, low back pain is one of the most common reasons for someone to miss
work and the second most common reason for someone to go to the doctors. Really? That many
people have back pain? It is that common for them to go to their primary care doctor for it? Why are
they not coming to physical therapy first? That s a topic for another day, but seriously low back pain is
a huge issue that a lot of us deal with on a daily basis. I see it first hand every day as I treat patients
frequently with this problem. Some are strains, disc herniations, fusions, fractures and just general
arthritis symptoms. It s inevitable that I will get the question: Do you think a back brace will help me?
My friend s brother has worn a brace for years and says he thinks I need one. So I decided to share my
opinions and some general facts about back braces to hopefully help you make that decision.
What is the back brace being used for? This should be the first question anyone should ask. The type
of injury or problem that you are having will be a key factor whether you will benefit from a brace or
not. When do you plan on wearing it? Is this something that you are planning on wearing all day? Do
you want to use it while you are doing house work or working out at the gym? Are you planning on
wearing it while you sit? These are some key questions that you need to focus on in order to

quantitative and qualitative research approach

Both quantitative and qualitative researches have been used as research approach recently. (What is

Firstly, most of the researchers need to interact with people during collecting data. As researchers use
tools such as questionnaires and interviews to collect data, they must interact with interviewees during
the process. Although both of them ask questions in different ways, they are able to arrive at the
desired answer through interacting with people.
Besides, although qualitative research used verbal data to proceed their research mainly, sometimes
numerical data is used. For instance, to determine how individual feels, opinion data is commonly
used in the progress in qualitative research, using numbers one to five to find how individuals feel. It
is a kind of numerical data since it produce numerical outcome, which researchers use to summarize
the research. In addition, researchers need to use numerical data to support their hypothesis before
conducting their research. If their hypothesis has no data to support, the credibility of it will be
limited. Therefore, numerical data will be used in both of the research to support their argument.
Moreover, researchers need to use their own data to develop their research and support their
hypothesis. Although second hand resources may helpful to their research, it may be outdated or not
appropriate to the research. Hence, primary data is important for

Khafre Enthroned
Throughout the many historical periods of history, there always had been pieces of artwork that
depicted the rulers of the time. Khafre Enthroned(Fig 1) and Justinian as world conqueror(Fig 2) are
two examples of how they were represented during their time as leaders. Even though they are from
two different time periods, the former being Egyptian and the latter Byzantine, they are both
successful at displaying how artists and the people at their time period respectfully portrayed their
rulers.
Several stylistic characteristics of the Egyptian time period can be found on Khafre Enthroned. The
Egyptian statue Khafre Enthroned, or the seated statue of Khafre, is the artwork depicting one of
Egypt s earliest rulers. The medium used for the statue is diorite, a stone dark in shade and immensely

The Alaska Lng Project, A Pipeline
I am writing to you in response to the proposed Alaska LNG project, a pipeline that stretches from the
North Slope to the small community of Nikiski, Alaska, that you are currently supporting as chairman
of the Senate Energy and Natural resources committee (Alex Martinson, 2015). Please realize that I
am not an expert in this matter but simply a concerned citizen who would regret to know that negative
environmental and community effects would result from the construction of facilities associated with a
natural gas pipeline and production.
Allow me to start by saying that this state and the Kenai Peninsula community, are very important to

I also realize the positive economic outcome for the state of Alaska as well as the U.S. as a whole.
However, do these fiscal gains constitute enough incentive to potentially disrupt natural environments
and put Alaska s citizens at risk?
Consider the Trans Alaska Pipeline and crude oil transportation that is currently in place from the
North Slope to the Valdez Marine Terminal. Many oil spills have occurred since it began

Since the invention of T Model Cars by Henry Ford in 1908, humans are increasingly regards cars as

The Importance Of Controling The Gun And Gun Control
Gun safety is a huge factor in having and using a gun. Almost every shooter is taught the 12 Golden
Rules. Many of those who are not, are the ones who illegally get their weapon or intend to use the
weapon in a harmful way. The 12 Golden Rules are: one, always treat the gun as if it is loaded. Two,
always keep the muzzle point in a safe direction. Three, always keep one s finger off the trigger until
one is ready to shoot. Four, always keep the gun unloaded until one is ready to use it. Five, never point
the gun the gun at anything one does not tend to destroy. Six, be sure of what one s target is and what
is beyond it. Seven, learn the mechanical and characteristics of the gun one is using. Eight, always use
the proper ammunition. Nine, be sure the barrel of the gun is clear of obstructions before loading and
shooting the gun. Ten, if the gun fails to fire hold one s position for a few seconds then carefully
unload the gun with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Eleven, do not rely on the gun s safety to
keep it from firing. Twelve, be aware of one s surroundings when handling a loaded gun so they do
not trip and/or lose their balance, and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything they
do not intend to (Magtech Ammunition 1). These rules are hung up at every range, can be found
almost anywhere, and are taught in every self defense, hunting, and gun education class. In addition,

Evaluation Of A Clinical Skills Essay
This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing. I will use a
reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse
training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs
model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion
and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought,
relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge
underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then
be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal
and professional development.
The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular
(IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method
of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched
the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed.
The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. I was asked to
administer a drug to a patient via IM injection. I had observed this clinical skill on a variety of
occasions but have not had the chance to administer any IM injection under supervision. On

Swac Research Paper
The Southwestern Athletic Conference has given the NFL, the SWAC has given the league nothing.
Have the SWAC and HBCUs lost their swagger? To get a handle on this, consider that Alabama had
four players drafted in the first round this year, a number equal to players from Historically Black
Colleges and Universities taken in the last two years all four coming from the Mideastern Athletic
Conference. The only player taken this year was Christian Thompson, a safety from South Carolina
State selected in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens. Since 2005, only five SWAC players have
been drafted.
The landscape of college football has changed so dramatically, it would appear to be unfair to today s

Examples Of Catholism In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
How is Catholicism critiqued in Chronicle of a Death Foretold through the character of Father Amador
In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Márquez s characterisation of Father Carmen Amador, the town s
priest, as a ritualistic, incompetent and hypocritical man reveals and critiques the hollowness of
Colombian Catholicism. Though a minor character, Amador, a representation of the Church in a
predominantly Catholic society, is integral to an acute understanding of the novel.
Amador , a Spanish name that translates to lover of God , ostensibly portrays Father Amador as a
paragon of piety. In his role as a mediatory agent between man and God, the priest is responsible for
providing religious guidance and leadership in the town. Reflecting a consensus of his authority and
moral responsibility to prevent the murder, several townspeople send peremptory warnings of the twin
s threats to Father Amador. Yet despite this, Amador not only fails to save Santiago, but also
contributes to the absurdity of the murder, thereby exposing his name to be an ironic misnomer that
underscores his hypocrisy. Through Father Amador s neglect of moral obligation to prepare for the
bishop s arrival ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This contributes to the foretold nature of the murder and the ritualistic repetition of the crime, which
could have the effect of reducing the shock and brutality of the murder scene and therefore further
stressing the inhumanity of the autopsy and the guilt of Father

Comparing a Dou Vessel to a Zun Vessel Essay
When comparing two relatively similar artistic objects from the same culture, there will invariably be
similarities and differences between the two pieces. This is the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel
from late 5th to early 4th century BCE China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both
objects have similar purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points
of design and are also dramatically different in size. The parallels and distinctions of the two pieces
are reflective of the cultural disparities and different methods of manufacturing during the two eras of
creation. This particular Zun vessel was introduced during the Shang dynasties rule over China. Its

The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety of animal motifs.
This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements and even baroque ornamentation.
(Thorp, p. 85) There are multiple dragons inscribed on the image, a feature shared with the Dou
Vessel. The use of animals signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and
excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the implementation inlays.
However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold
pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel. The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like
decoration, symbolizes a new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun
vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects also differ greatly in
size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun vessel has features that almost double
that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles,
the Zun vessels ring base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This
could in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were used for cult
rituals and activities. (Thorp, p. 61) Drinking was a significant facet of some of these Shang offerings,
which also included offerings in

Identifying Mental Illnesses
Mental illness refers to a condition, which affects the thinking, feeling, and mood of a person.
Apparently, this condition affects the ability of a person to function every day and the capacity to

mental illness in a person: A psychological assessment where a mental health provider helps a patient

this point, a patient may be asked to fill out a questionnaire to assist in answering the questions. Lab

Employee acceptance is a critical component of an effective performance appraisal system.(1)
Research in organizational behavior clearly demonstrates that employee attitudes influence behavior,

This sense of unfairness will be exacerbated if the employee perceives no opportunity to rebut the
information or present his or her views.(16) The task, therefore, becomes developing a process that
cultivates accurate and comprehensive information in a manner that is perceived by employees as
being fair. Leventhal and Greenberg discussed three broad principles that influence perceived fairness
in performance appraisal systems. First, employees should possess the ability to correct or rebut
inaccurate information. Second, that specific procedures should be introduced to increase the accuracy
of performance information (such as performance diaries, comprehensive rater training, objective
performance standards). Third, that procedural safeguards are present to discourage biased ratings
(appeal processes, evaluating the rater on how well they administer the process). To fully
operationalize these principles, a much greater voice and role for the employee is necessary. What are
the preferred means for accomplishing these goals? Employee Voice Participation, goal setting and
feedback are formal means for interjecting employee voice into the appraisal process. The original
definition of employee voice included only participation. Employee voice is the employees ability to

President Vladimir Putin, The Former Official State Security
Throughout the course of history repressive forms of government have utilized specific elements of
power to manipulate their constituents. The Stasi, the former official state security of Eastern

masculinity to promote and carry through a specific agenda. Both forms of manipulation are
incredibly harmful tactics to further control the people of non democratic societies. The Stasi, formally

Only 22 months prior the communist USSR erected the Berlin wall , dividing the city by political

Supply Chain Management at Airbus
Supply Chain Management At Airbus Implementing RFID Technology
INTRODUCTION
Airbus was the world s leading aircraft manufacturer in 2009 going by the number of aircraft
delivered during the year. The company had been using RFID in its operations since 1997 but on a
lower scale and targeted at improving its internal processes. In mid 2000s, Airbus started using RFID
technology more widely, starting with its spare parts supply chain. After sucessful pilot tests, Airbus
came out with the ambitious plan of adopting a holistic approach by implementing RFID at its
suppliers facilities, in its own operations, and at its customers operations in 2008. The plan was to
achieve higher efficiencies in its operations and also to reduce costs. The ... Show more content on

Sup@irworld had four domains including Sourcing, BuySide, eSupplyChain, andd Found@tion which
could be accessed from a common portal platform, with a further dedicated portal according to the
target segment Airbus customers, employees and suppliers.
Within the Sourcing domain, potential suppliers were identified in a transparent manner, as they
registered with Airbus through the Internet where they could provide details about the strengths,
quality standards, etc.
The BuySide domain allowed purchasing managers in Airbus to select products to be purchased from
an electronic standardized catalogue and send the product list for approval from the concerned
authorities. On approval, orders were generated automatically and electronically sent to suppliers. If
products are not on the catalogue, quotations from suppliers are requested. It created automation
across all Airbus entities from ordering to payment.
The eSupplyChain domain. Covered the entire supply chain right from forecasting product needs,
generating purchase orders, receiving and storing goods, conduct quality checks, and invoicing.
The Found@tion domain had a database which contained information about suppliers, products, past
contracts, required quality standards, and information about logistic providers. This domain used data
for business intelligence purposes, analyzed historical data, and supported decision makers with

Dangers Of Human Genome Editing
Scientists, for some time now, have been concerned about the dangers of altering the human germ line.
Until now, the worries have been purely theoretical. But a technique invented recently makes it
possible to edit the genome precisely and with much greater ease. The technique holds the power to
repair or enhance any human gene. Genetic labs around the world are adapting this technique for they
believe the benefits to be boundless. However, considering the ethical complications of genome
editing affecting future generations, scientists have called for a moratorium on human genome editing,
that would alter human DNA in a way that can be inherited until issues of safety and efficiency are
addressed. I believe there should be a more or less permanent ... Show more content on

If genomes are being altered to suit parents preferences, do children become more like commodities
than precious gifts? (Collins Gene Editing)
How will gene editing be used? To shape a child so she will have more advantages in life or will better
fit the preferences of her parents? Is a ban on child genome editing even likely? Doing so would
restrict both parental rights and reproductive freedom. Parents will have to think about the downsides
of trying to control who their child will grow up to be. Parenting involves choices and responsibility
but most important of all accepting their child for who they are.
Banning gene editing isn t our best option for it would drive practices underground to black markets
but at this stage, it would be irresponsible to proceed. This may be one of the best medical research, it
will be noted, and be looked back on as a turning point. It isn t crazy to think someday this will be
widely accepted and valued, many controversial types of research have. However, we ve had various
circumstances where blameless technology was used badly, there is little reason to think gene drives
would be an exception. There may come a time when gene drives are used not only for curing diseases
but also military purposes. We could be dealing with overpopulation, irreversible ecological damage,
and intentional misuse of gene drives.

Hispanic Health Issues
Iannotta, Joah G. Emerging Issues in Hispanic Health: Summary of a Workshop. Washington, D.C.:
National Academies, 2002. Print. This book is about the emerging health issues in the Hispanic
population. It includes information about population statistics of Hispanics in the United States,
determinants of health, health care coverage, and emerging issues. The National Academies organized
a meeting on Hispanic health issues, and brought together experts in demography, public health, and
sociology. This resource provides studies for any researchers looking to learn more about the health
issues affecting Hispanics. The credibility of this book seems to be reliable as this has studies and
ideas from a variety of people, not just one individual. And there are plenty of tables and graphs
inserted in the text to help give a visual sense of what the facts are saying. The only weakness would
probably be that it was not published recently, but it is still a useful source of information.

It goes on by telling us more about drinking, separated by categories like gender and ages of
Hispanics. The article states that Latinos drink more than Latinas. The targeted audience seems to be
anyone who has an interest in learning more about Hispanic health. As we know drinking and drugs
causes all sorts of health problems, but this article specifically focuses on giving us information about
Hispanics. Tables were included to help organize the data and statistics of the Hispanic population.
The only weakness, is that it mainly focuses on older adults. Of course that is part of the title, but it
would have been more helpful if it include younger populations

Small Beginnings
I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure that
my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my family has experience working with
small businesses and ministries, for our church was small. Unfortunately, things did not work for our
church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in Munster,
Indiana. FCC is a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens. The pastor
of the church had great illustrated messages.
I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her
company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance
abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as a
teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We would
meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then followed by snacks
and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she started a pop out team. We
visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist serenaded strangers while the rest
of us pass out flyers.
Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn all about the Arts.
She talked about having art classes, drum sessions, guitar lessons, photography, and of course, drama
and theater practice. Everyone

  • 2. Verbal And Nonverbal Language Of Whales Language of Whales One would not think to compare humans with cetaceans such as whales. The cetacean brain is comparable to the size of the human brain, and is as complex as the human brain, although its structure is evolved differently (Sato 1).Whales are similar to humans in that they are able to communicate, have many languages, and learn from one another. With limited sight and sense of smell in water, marine mammals are more dependent on sound which travels four times faster in water than air to communicate (Keely 1). This means that whales are mainly dependent on sound for things such as communication and echolocation. Echolocation is an important tool whales use to navigate their way around the ocean, and without communication, it is unlikely that whales or any species would survive for long. Whales communicate to find mates, teach their calves, show aggression, show intimacy, and warn others of predators. Whales interact with each other through verbal and nonverbal language. When it comes to verbal communication, whale are divided into two categories, toothed whales and baleen whales. The toothed whale suborder converses through the use of high pitched clicks and whistles, and this is possible because all species under this suborder have teeth. Baleen whales are equipped with baleen plates that have bristles attached to them which are used to produce low frequency sounds. It is deep melodic sounds the baleen whales make that are referred to as whale songs . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Analysis Of A Harbor In Moonlight Claude Joseph Vernet is a very largely known French artist from the early 1700 s. He has been known to be one of the best landscape painters of all time. Vernet paints from a different perspective than many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous including A Harbor in Moonlight which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum. A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught my eye was the different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My first reaction was a sense of calmness and relief. There are many reasons that I got the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is the arrangements of lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it, it is very dull and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere near the same result as the lighting. It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something. Just by looking at it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the picture. The main sources of light that stood out to me were the fire, moon, lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the water. All of them provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This project is called the San Joaquin River Restoration. They had to rebuild the river so that the salmon and fishes can swim back and forth. Despite that, each year, the number of patients on the waiting list continues to grow, while the number of donors and transplants remains stagnant. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson The Lottery, a ritual that no one has ever thought to question, which represents any action, behavior, or idea that is passed down from one generation to the next that s accepted and followed unquestioningly, no matter how illogical, strange, or cruel. The oldest denizen of the town, Old Man Warner, points out that this is his seventy seventh year participating in the ritual, called simply the lottery. (Dubose 1) The Lottery is so much a part of the town s culture, that the townspeople does not truly know what the tradition means but rejoice at the it nonetheless. That is the force that drove the theme In Shirley Jackson s the Lottery with her use of setting, symbolism, suspense, and characters as she exemplifies blindly following tradition with obedience can be dangerous. The lottery is an extreme example of what can happen when traditions are not questioned or addressed critically by new generations because of the infamous word tradition. Jackson lets us know the time of the lottery at the outset of the story. From the description of the men s talk of tractors and taxes (Jackson 262) and the depiction of Mr. Summers wearing a clean white shirt and blue jeans (Jackson 262), we may assume that we are in the twentieth century, making the story s impact more immediate. Latin American literature is perhaps best known for its use of magical realism, a literary mode where the fantastical is seamlessly blended with the ordinary, creating a sort of enhanced reality. Though magical realism is practiced by authors from other cultures, the works of authors Salman Rushdie and Toni Morrison, for example, are notable examples of non Latin works in which magical realism has been used to both great effect and great celebration, it is in the works of Latin American authors where the style has flourished and made its mark on the literary world. Esquivel s novel follows the tradition of magical realism in its purest form and creates a welcome entry into the Latin American canon whereas Borges stories, most written more than forty years prior to the publication of Esquivel s novel, use magical realism in a much more complex way and ultimately forge a literary tradition of their own. From the very first page of Laura Esquivel s Like Water for Chocolate it is clear that the real world in which her characters inhabit shall be greatly exaggerated. When Esquivel s narrator describes Tita as being so sensitive to onions that when she was still in my great grandmother s belly her sobs were so loud that even Nacha, the cook, who was half deaf, could hear them easily. (Esquivel, p. 5) the reader encounters something at once refreshing, as is always the case when one experiences the supernatural where least expected, and yet ancient at the same time. While Esquivel could have attempted to tell her story, really the tale of a (mostly) unrequited love, in a straightforward manner, the casual inclusion of the extraordinary places it immediately in the tradition of magical realism. Esquivel s novel is awash in such images and these might have been jarring to casual English readers had it not followed so closely in the tradition of what is perhaps the most famous and most widely read work of magical realism, Gabriel Garcia Marquez s 1967 novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs 1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the essay will then be given which will discuss my reflection skills, acknowledge my competence and show my personal and professional development. The clinical skill I have chosen to reflect on within this essay is the administration of Intramuscular (IM) injections. I have chosen this as within my first clinical placement this was a widely used method of drug administration and I became involved in the process of IM injections. I therefore researched the topic of IM injections and my knowledge within this area developed. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of events. Though a minor character, Amador, a representation of the Church in a predominantly Catholic society, is integral to an acute understanding of the novel. This is the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel from late 5th to early 4th century BCE China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both objects have similar purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points of design and are also dramatically different in size. The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety of animal motifs. This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements and even baroque ornamentation. The use of animals signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the implementation inlays. However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel. The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like decoration, symbolizes a new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects also differ greatly in size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun vessel has features that almost double that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles, the Zun vessels ring base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This could in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were used for cult rituals and activities. Supply Chain Management at Airbus Supply Chain Management At Airbus Implementing RFID Technology INTRODUCTION Airbus was the world s leading aircraft manufacturer in 2009 going by the number of aircraft delivered during the year. The company had been using RFID in its operations since 1997 but on a lower scale and targeted at improving its internal processes. In mid 2000s, Airbus started using RFID technology more widely, starting with its spare parts supply chain. After sucessful pilot tests, Airbus came out with the ambitious plan of adopting a holistic approach by implementing RFID at its suppliers facilities, in its own operations, and at its customers operations in 2008. The plan was to achieve higher efficiencies in its operations and also to reduce costs. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sup@irworld had four domains including Sourcing, BuySide, eSupplyChain, andd Found@tion which could be accessed from a common portal platform, with a further dedicated portal according to the target segment Airbus customers, employees and suppliers. Within the Sourcing domain, potential suppliers were identified in a transparent manner, as they registered with Airbus through the Internet where they could provide details about the strengths, quality standards, etc. The BuySide domain allowed purchasing managers in Airbus to select products to be purchased from an electronic standardized catalogue and send the product list for approval from the concerned authorities. On approval, orders were generated automatically and electronically sent to suppliers. If products are not on the catalogue, quotations from suppliers are requested. It created automation across all Airbus entities from ordering to payment. The eSupplyChain domain. Covered the entire supply chain right from forecasting product needs, generating purchase orders, receiving and storing goods, conduct quality checks, and invoicing. The Found@tion domain had a database which contained information about suppliers, products, past contracts, required quality standards, and information about logistic providers. This domain used data for business intelligence purposes, analyzed historical data, and supported decision makers with important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Dangers Of Human Genome Editing Scientists, for some time now, have been concerned about the dangers of altering the human germ line. Until now, the worries have been purely theoretical. But a technique invented recently makes it possible to edit the genome precisely and with much greater ease. The technique holds the power to repair or enhance any human gene. Genetic labs around the world are adapting this technique for they believe the benefits to be boundless. However, considering the ethical complications of genome editing affecting future generations, scientists have called for a moratorium on human genome editing, that would alter human DNA in a way that can be inherited until issues of safety and efficiency are addressed. I believe there should be a more or less permanent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If genomes are being altered to suit parents preferences, do children become more like commodities than precious gifts? (Collins Gene Editing) How will gene editing be used? To shape a child so she will have more advantages in life or will better fit the preferences of her parents? Is a ban on child genome editing even likely? Doing so would restrict both parental rights and reproductive freedom. Parents will have to think about the downsides of trying to control who their child will grow up to be. Parenting involves choices and responsibility but most important of all accepting their child for who they are. Banning gene editing isn t our best option for it would drive practices underground to black markets but at this stage, it would be irresponsible to proceed. This may be one of the best medical research, it will be noted, and be looked back on as a turning point. It isn t crazy to think someday this will be widely accepted and valued, many controversial types of research have. However, we ve had various circumstances where blameless technology was used badly, there is little reason to think gene drives would be an exception. There may come a time when gene drives are used not only for curing diseases but also military purposes. We could be dealing with overpopulation, irreversible ecological damage, and intentional misuse of gene drives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Hispanic Health Issues Iannotta, Joah G. Emerging Issues in Hispanic Health: Summary of a Workshop. Washington, D.C.: National Academies, 2002. Print. This book is about the emerging health issues in the Hispanic population. It includes information about population statistics of Hispanics in the United States, determinants of health, health care coverage, and emerging issues. The National Academies organized a meeting on Hispanic health issues, and brought together experts in demography, public health, and sociology. This resource provides studies for any researchers looking to learn more about the health issues affecting Hispanics. The credibility of this book seems to be reliable as this has studies and ideas from a variety of people, not just one individual. And there are plenty of tables and graphs inserted in the text to help give a visual sense of what the facts are saying. The only weakness would probably be that it was not published recently, but it is still a useful source of information. Vaughan, Ellen L., Melanie J. Robbins, and Oscar S. Escobar. Mental Health, Physical Health Problems, and Drinking Among Latino Older Adults. Journal of Latina/o Psychology (2014): n. pag. Web. 1 Oct. 2015. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It goes on by telling us more about drinking, separated by categories like gender and ages of Hispanics. The article states that Latinos drink more than Latinas. The targeted audience seems to be anyone who has an interest in learning more about Hispanic health. As we know drinking and drugs causes all sorts of health problems, but this article specifically focuses on giving us information about Hispanics. Tables were included to help organize the data and statistics of the Hispanic population. The only weakness, is that it mainly focuses on older adults. Of course that is part of the title, but it would have been more helpful if it include younger populations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Small Beginnings I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure that my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my family has experience working with small businesses and ministries, for our church was small. Unfortunately, things did not work for our church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in Munster, Indiana. FCC is a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens. The pastor of the church had great illustrated messages. I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as a teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We would meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then followed by snacks and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she started a pop out team. We visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist serenaded strangers while the rest of us pass out flyers. Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn all about the Arts. She talked about having art classes, drum sessions, guitar lessons, photography, and of course, drama and theater practice. Everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
