Essay about Modern Photograph and Realism
In 1979 Stephen Shore, Merced River, Yosemite National Park, 1930 Walker Evans, Factory street in
Amsterdam, New York, and in 1941 Dorothea Lange, Road on the Great White Plains, these three
photographers transformed their landscape photographs into their own distinctive significance through
the expression of realism, a movement in modern photography. Shore transforms a common place to
an escape, Evans documents the effects of one of the most important historical periods in American
social history and Lange uses her photography as a tool for political change. Although they all
embodied their photograph with their own significance, they don t share the same motives. In 1979

This image almost looks like an alley. Due to the wet glossy floors you can tell it was previously
raining. The first thing to catch your attention is the long road receding infinitely, leading your eyes
from the foreground to the background creating maximum depth of field like in Shore s photo. Instead
of trees fading into mountains we see buildings fading into trees. Evans captures the differing building
types. However, there is a repetition in windows. The stone building echoes the stone road. The power
lines seem to unite the two sides of the streets together. The third building to the left is half black and
half white, which creates strong contrast. The building creates a subtle shadow on each side of the
stone road leaving the middle of the road highlighted by diffused sun light. The background also
creates contrast as the dark trees overlap the light sky. Unlike Stephen Shore s use of color to project
happiness, love, and freedom, Evan s photo is black and white, projecting loneliness, emptiness, and
hopelessness. Do to the absence of human presence; this quiet image signifies solitude and
abandonment. It is evident that most of these buildings are factories. However, if there are no signs of
workers, the photo signifies that something so bad happened here that everyone fled and abandoned
the place. With this photo, Evans does not try to persuade a point of view; instead he documents the
truth, representing social realism. An artistic movement in modern

Stephen Chbosky Biography
Middle school can be painful for any kid, but, as Wonder begins, we suspect it s going to be especially
hard for 10 year old Auggie Pullman.
After 27 surgeries to help him see, breathe and hear, Auggie (played by Jacob Tremblay) doesn t look
like other children. He s small and scarred, with a high pitched, scratchy voice and a braided rattail.
He usually wears an astronaut helmet when he leaves the house. But after years of being home
schooled by his mother (played by Julia Roberts), he s preparing to join his peers at New York s
Beecher Prep.
Dear God, please make them be nice to him, Auggie s mom says to his dad (played by Owen Wilson)
as they watch him walk into school for the first time.
Very Real Cry Fest
In the wrong hands, Wonder could be a sappy slog, filled with old, unoriginal ideas about treating
others the way you want to be treated. But noted child whisperer Stephen Chbosky, author of the
famous young adult book The Perks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Via s estranged best friend (played by Danielle Rose Russell), meanwhile, comes off as a bit of a
villain until we see the world through her troubled eyes. The message can be a little clumsy but no less
worthy: You never know what someone else is going through.
Even though Auggie and Via s parents don t get their own dedicated narratives, their agony and fear is
in the background. Auggie s mother makes a particularly interesting character as a woman who gave
up her dreams of a Ph.D. to care for her son. Now, she feels both thrilled and guilty about getting her
own life back.
Meanwhile, although Auggie aces every pop quiz, he struggles socially at school. One toxic teacher s
pet (played by Bryce Gheisar) mercilessly teases him whenever adults are out of earshot. Predictably,
after a few difficulties, Auggie makes some meaningful connections.

Show how the playwright uses Sheila Birling and Mr. Birling to reveal the disparities between social
and moral attitudes of father and daughter. Explain how the director would make these disparities
clear in a stage production of the play.
There are numerous differences that are revealed between the characters of Miss Sheila Birling and
Mr. Birling during the course of the play An Inspector Calls ; Most Particularly between social and
moral attitudes.
In Act 1 Mr. Birling acts in a very self confident and smug way. He strongly believes in a capitalist ...

Mr. Birling starts on another speech around the dinner table, he starts to talk about the engagement of
his daughter and Gerald and how wonderful it is but he soon changes the theme of the speech to his
own beliefs and knowledge of the whole world, showing how egotistical he is. When Mr.Birlings
starts rambling on about war and how it is inevitable, the irony is shown to the audience. An Inspector
Calls is set in 1912, before the First World War, and was written in 1945.
The Audience is very well informed of Mr. Birling s visions of the future and so when he says how
war is inevitable, when it has already happened; twice, the irony is clear to the audience. This lets the
audience make an informed decision on the way they feel about Mr.
Birling, which would probably be that he is a self indulged man that only worries about his reputation
and business.
Mr. Birling is publicly conscious of himself; he is obsessed with his social status and is always
looking to climb the social ladder. Mr.
Birling is trying to impress Gerald;
But what I wanted to say is there s a fair chance that I might find my way into the next honors list. Just
a Knighthood of course
This quote shows the audience exactly what Birling is like. All Mr.
Birling wanted to say to Gerald was that he was going to achieve a
Knighthood, simply to impress Gerald and Lady Croft, therefore increasing the chance

Diageo plc
Ian Cray, Diageo plc s Treasurer, looked out of his office window onto the busy streets of London in
October 2000. The London based consumer goods company Diageo had recently announced its
intention to sell its packaged food subsidiary, Pillsbury, to General Mills. Earlier in the year, Diageo
also announced its intent to sell 20% of its Burger King subsidiary through an initial public offering
during
2001, to be followed by a spin off of the remainder of Burger King after December 2002. If these
transactions took place, the firm would be focused exclusively on the beverage alcohol industry. As

The firm was organized along four business segments. The largest was the Spirits and Wine business,
which produced and marketed a portfolio of beverage alcohol such as scotch, vodka, gin, and tequila.
Diageo s brands included Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, J B, Bailey s, Gordon s, Tanqueray,
Cuervo, and Malibu. This division was not only the biggest (with revenues of £5 billion and the
leading market share in the U.S. and U.K. markets) but also the fastest growing of Diageo s
businesses, with sales growth of 8% for the year. More than 70% of sales and sales growth came from
the Europe and North
America markets. This segment enjoyed the largest profit margins of all of the segments, with 15%
operating margins and growth in total operating profits of 15%. The high levels of operating profits
reflected Diageo s strategy of concentrating on premium brands and pricing. (Exhibits 1 and 2 contain
historical financial information for Diageo and its business segments.)
Diageo s second largest division was Guinness Brewing, which produced and sold beer to markets
around the world. This segment, while substantially smaller in sales than the Spirits and Wine
Division, was a close second to it in terms of operating profit growth rate. Due to the similarity in the
products and distribution channels for these two businesses, Diageo was

Environmental Toxicity and Cancer
Cancer is the second most prevalent cause of death in the United States, accounting for 25% of all
deaths and more than 2,000 lives per day. There are over one hundred types of cancer and a number of
variables that contribute to the disease, but a 2010 report to the White House noted that the burden of
environmentally induced cancers has been grossly underestimated, for exposure to environmental
carcinogens (toxicity) occurs regularly in the home, the workplace and through consumer products
and lifestyle choices (Cancer and Toxic Chemicals, 2012).
In fact, environmental factors including smoke, nutrition, and exposure to carcinogens are estimated to
be responsible for up to 80% of all cancer deaths in the U.S. There is also a greater potential for toxic
materials to interact with human genetic and lifestyle to increase the risks of blood born cancers. The
potential for this toxicity remains critical, and under study. But the Centers for Disease Control believe
that the cancer burden caused by exposure to environmental carcinogens to be even higher than
currently reported (ATSDR, 2010).
One of the challenges surrounding scholarly work on toxicity and cancer is related to the number of
variables that may also contribute to cellular death. In addition, cancers from environmental toxicity
may take years or decades to fully develop, and some types of toxicity mimic other afflictions. One
such example is in the maternal transfer of heavy metals during fetal development that

In his comparison he has shown how the adults are so like these children running to and fro without

move forward. Golding has stick to has ideology throughout the novel without any trace of humour.
Most of the satires presented in the novel are dark and bitter in their own way. The first and the
foremost satire is on civilization. In this era of moving forward with civilization and civilized people,
the people still think of going to war. He highlights the destruction, evil and fear in human mind.
During the start of the novel we see the boys end up in an uninhabited island. The reason of the plane

satire. Both Ralph and Jack symbolize leadership. While most the leaders would related themselves to
the Ralph and not the hated Jack, but the twist remains that it Jack who is the actual leader. This
comparison has been made to mock the leaders of the world. Ralph the kind of person how we would
want our leaders to actually be. This comparison reflects the difference between our dreams and ideals

Voodoo Children Essay
When I first picked the film Voodoo Children, based off the title I assumed it had to do something
with voodoo dolls that were made in the image of a child. The Film started off a lot more different
than what I m use too, it actually frightened me a little when they lady started screaming, there were
little kids dancing as well as some drinking liquor. The narrator then tells us that in the small town of
Benin which is located in West Africa, voodoo is swindling thousands of people into poverty and
starting some families to sell their children into captivity to repay voodoo debt. Benin is thought to be
the home of voodoo. The earliest animist certainty was engaged by slaves from this small West
African country to Haiti and New Orleans. The narrator then states an interesting fact saying, ... Show

narrator and his team realize voodoo is repeatedly continued by intimidations, distress and even the
abduction of the young children. At one point in the film they travel to a place called Abomey, which
was at one point in time the original capital of the Kingdom of Dahomey, which is also known as the
ancient center for voodoo worship. While they made their visit to the center they discovered that
children as early as two years old have been acknowledged by priests as the next group to be initiated
into undisclosed religious rites. One lady in particular who made the travel with narrator and his team,
told us her story of how she lost her child to voodoo because she owed them some money and that it

Co workers also noticed that
Arthurs was becoming increasingly forgetful. He was often unable to remember stock numbers, colour
codes, product lines, packaging modes, and other information essential for serving clients efficiently
and completing orders accurately. These problems were subtle in 1987, but became quite pronounced
and embarrassing over the next three years.
In May 1989, Arthurs and Jackson had a conflict relating to the purchase of a new company car.
According to Jackson, Arthurs presented him with a quotation for a car, which, in Jackson s view,
included $2,500 in unnecessary options. Jackson informed
Arthurs of his concerns and instructed him to find a car worth $13,000 instead of
$16,000. Jackson then left town on business and when he returned was distressed to find that Arthurs
had made his proposed car purchase with almost all of the unnecessary options. Jackson issued the
cheque to pay for the car, but also included a note to Arthurs saying that he had lost confidence in the
sales representative. It was about this time that
Jackson contemplated firing Arthurs, but decided instead to be a nice guy and overlook the matter.
At the end of 1989, Jackson decided to reassign the North Vancouver independent accounts from
Arthurs to another Western Agencies salesperson because the existing accounts had shown minimal
growth and no new accounts were being added.

In The Present Time, The Media Industry Is Considered One
In the present time, the media industry is considered one of the most powerful industrial structures in
the world. The source of its strength lies not only in that huge funds in which they invest, but also in
its extreme influence on individuals, groups, and governments. Media and communication activities
occupy an important place in the economy of most countries. In the media industry, there are many
institutions and companies that compete in the media market. There are different in terms of the
quality of their products, the nature and means, and their size in the market. There are newspapers and

For example, the expenses of radio that broadcast music on the clock is much less than the expenses of
any radio station that rely on innovation and creativity, which prolongs the duration of their programs.
The same for the TV, for example, the cost of a TV program for entertainment is different from a
political program. Also, the duration of programs determines the costs of this program and it plays a
huge role in increasing the expenditure per day. All in all, we cannot ignore the fact that the high cost
of production in the visual and auditory media, especially the production of the original model or
version, leads the production companies to search for advance funding for the production from
advertisers and distributors. On the other hand, the costs of digital media that use the Internet
technology in news dissemination, exchange information, and communication through electronic
devices connected to the Internet are different from traditional media. Its cost is not too high because
of its dependence on modern technology. These means are numerous and advanced, and for example,
but not limited to, the electronic or online news sites and social networking sites. The majority of
revenues in the digital media organizations are advertisements. Today, the media have become
economic institutions. Media production in its final form must make a benefit in the economic sense.

Effects Of Discrimination On African American Males
The views on discrimination against African American males haven t changed greatly since the
slavery era. For these males the discrimination has become more worse than ever before in modern
society. The African American males are treated unfairly than white males such as from workplace to
dealing with the police. There are more African American males in prisons and they got killed by white
police officers more than any other races because of the racial profiling. According to Daniel B. Lee,
who is a researcher at University of Michigan, African American males faced different types of racial
discrimination in their lives and these impact on their health issue (2). For African Aamerican males
the goal of racial equality remains very difficult to achieve. The acknowledgment towards the African
American males discrimination in society can be further recognized in music. Musicians such as 2

African American males. Their powerful lyrics encourage the society to take a stand with the African
American males for their rights and the equality against white members of society. The empowering

What Motivated Vladimir I to convert to Christianity and how did the new religion change the culture

Paganism was a mental mindset of the Eastern Slavs living in a world where a majority of the
European countries surrounding them had already converted to a monastic religion. Vladimir I, a great
prince of Kiev, reigned from 980 till 1015 and succeeded in the mass conversion of the Eastern
Slavs.1 Throughout his reign Vladimir s agenda had always been to strengthen his empire, in order to

Converting to a monastic religion was Kievan Rus chance to be adopted into the powerful European
family, gain new allies and better trading opportunities.16 With the history of Eastern Orthodox
Christianity in Russia, it was probably the most logical choice for Vladimir.17 Throughout Vladimir s
reign he campaigned against many surrounding tribes.18 His campaigns were carefully structured and
executed accordingly.19 This is illustrated with the Varagians in Kiev itself, and then towards Slavonic
and Lithuanian tribes in the north, who he overcame without any difficulty.20 These political elements
of Vladimir correlate with his capture of Chersoneus, belonging to Byzantium, the most powerful and
wealthy empire at the time.21 With this bold move he was able to negotiate with Emperor Basil II,
exchanging Basil s sister Anna for his cooperation and assistance.22 This illustrates that Vladimir
realized if he constructed a scheme, rather than simply just being baptized in Constantinople, he could
convert and gain a Byzantium Bride for Kievan Rus at the same time.23 It also shows how Vladimir
understood than Byzantium would never allow such a highly prized object to be married to a pagan,
and converting after receiving his bride would not be sufficient.24 Vladimir first gave proof of his
good faith by being baptized, however Basil became reluctant to fill his side of the bargain, and

Middle-Range Theory
Theory Scope Categorizing the Theory Scope, the first step of theory analysis, involves describing the
abstractness of their theory concepts and propositions. While the scope of the grand theory is
nonspecific, the scope of the middle range theory is more specific and limited. A middle range theory,
additionally, can be classified in terms of descriptive, explanatory, or predictive. Leventhal et al. did
not identify the type of their theory. However, the words and sentences that they mentioned in the
CSM can categorize as a middle range theory. The CSM was proposed to provide the framework for
depicting the self regulation when individuals have to encounter stress caused by an illness and
understanding the processes involved in problem coping. Leventhal et al. described that the CSM
consists of three core concepts: representation of illness, coping, and coping appraisal. The
relationship between the concepts was presented in the parallel processing system that interact as the
individual adapts to each specific situation. These processes lead individuals to seek health care for
acute illnesses and manage their illness for chronic conditions. Additionally, the CSM was used as a
theoretical framework in research and applied in practice, particularly psychological, behavioral, and
nursing fields. The results of study can make possible intervention which would help patients develop
valid coping processes. Consequently, The CSM can be classified as a middle range predictive theory.

Courage
The word courage heroically pervades all aspects of life whether it is in a movie, book, video game, or
real world incident. Courage is when someone or something stands up for their beliefs despite any
intimidation or danger that may face them in the process. A person of this merit never puts another in
harms way in order to protect him or herself. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mocking Bird, Atticus Finch
displays valor more than any of the surrounding characters. His courage was one that reminded me of
a brave man who stood up for equality and people of all races during the 1960 s. His name was Martin

feels it is duty to do what her can to save a life and if he does not act than it would be the same as

essence of a man s conscience Scout, I couldn t go to church and worship God if I didn t try to help

goal was to unite the people of a single nation that was driven apart by racism. The two men were both
very influential speakers and could use their words to connect to audiences throughout the pathos of
their speeches. Another similarity between Atticus and King is that they both stood up against racism
regardless of the fact that it put both of them at great risk. Neither man believed in using violence.
Martin Luther King Jr. exhibits this through his non violent protests, and Atticus through his words
and actions. I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man
with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and
you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do. (Lee 149). Atticus was
teaching his children that real courage is not just blind violence, but it is finishing what you start and
doing what you believe in, even if others do not

Bildungsroman In John Knowles A Separate Peace
A bildungsroman is about a protagonist, usually a young adult or child who undergoes struggles and
hardships that portrays the process of growing up from youth to maturity. John Knowles A Separate
Peace illustrates the idea of a coming of age novel. Gene Forrester, a lonely, average boy is confused
between the meaning of a true friendship which leads him to the dark side of adolescence (Knowles).
The central character is introduced sightseeing Devon School (Knowles 9) looking across fifteen years
ago. Gene takes us back in time during the World War 2 where he was a juvenile with his roommate
and best friend, Phineas. He is also known as Finny, to whom is presented as: handsome, taunting,
daredevil and an extraordinary athlete . Gene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

position to enlist in war. Though the teens parted away, it was only for so long. Phineas came back
after Thanksgiving, and as roommates, they grew closer again. Phineas was surely in need of
additional care, thus again created codependency. Afterwards Brinker Hadley, a mocking friend of
Gene began to question Gene and his roome. Brinker found a man, Leper Lepellier who was present
during the incident when Finny shattered his leg. Leper affirms what he saw ...up and down like a
piston, and then the other one sank and fell (Knowles 176). He declares that the sun was blazing
directly into his eyesight that he could not detect who was who. Eventually, Finny halts the event from
going any further; he was not able to incorporate everything. Overwhelmed, he vanished in a haste.
Finny falls down the stairs and breaks his leg again (SparkNotes). He becomes handicapped in need of
surgery. During this time Phineas confronts Gene about his speechless action. Gene speaks it was an
ignorant blind impulse and explains it was not deliberately. I believe you (191), Finny pardons Gene.
Surgery begins after Gene leaves the room and 5 hours later Gene comes back to visit, but ultimately

The Large Regulatory Subunit
The large regulatory subunit PriL
The large subunit (PriL) of the primase is a regulatory, non catalytic subunit, where its exact role is
still undefined. Nonetheless, PriL, and in particular PriL C terminal domain (PriL CTD), has been
shown to have an essential role at the initiation stage of primer synthesis, but not during the extension
step. In fact, it is an essential gene in yeast. It has also been inferred that PriL CTD, is involved in the
primase counting mechanism (p58 .counting..). The PriL CTD has an iron sulfur cluster which seems
to play a structural role in conserving the correct three dimentional structure of the CTD (Agarkar et
al. 2011 ; Sauguet et al. 2010 ; Vaithiyalingam et al. 2010 ). To date, the structure of PriL has not been
solved in its integrity. Instead, substructures of a C terminally truncated version of PriL (PriL ΔCTD)
have been solved in archaea and human (....). In addition, the structure of PriL CTD has been reported
for both yeast and human. In fact, two crystal structures were reported for the human p58C (C
terminal domain of the human large subunit) (.....).
In both archaeal and eukaryotic primases, PriL CTD exhibits a similar structure consisting of two
main domains; PriLα and PriL SBD. PriLα is a larger globular helical domain, while PriL SBD is a
smaller domain with a mix of both α and β secondary structures. PriL SBD represents the surface
binding domain that is in direct contact with PriS and constitute the dimerization interface. This

What Are The Causes Of The Second Industrial Revolution
The second Industrial Revolution was responsible for evoking great change in the United States of
America. It was a time when the very fabric of America was being redesigned and improved upon.
Populations were beginning to gravitate towards large urban areas, such as New York and
Philadelphia, and the economy was becoming more industrial based. Farming was becoming less of a
priority, as more Americans became determined to find factory jobs. The country was beginning to
modernize. The introduction of big business and labor unions was able to revolutionize The United
States economy and society. By the late nineteenth century, the American economy had experienced a
complete change; individual companies were beginning to take control of market and reconstruct the
way businesses were run. The entrepreneurs who took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capitalists were able take control of the economy by using new techniques and technologies to create
jobs, as well as take over competing businesses. Business tycoons were also able to improve other

working conditions. Workers were able to protest big businesses by refusing to work, creating unrest
in American society over the rights and treatment of workers. The relationship between laborers and
capitalists is like that of the Occupy Wall Street movement, where there was a large amount of strife in
the working class about the distribution of wealth. Much like the industrial workers, the Occupy
protesters were unhappy about the social and economic inequality between themselves and the one

Character Analysis Of Jack Streicher
For Jack Streicher, religion has always been a dominant force in his life. The eldest of three, raised in
a traditional Catholic environment in Cincinnati, religion, family, and school have always been
intertwined. He attended a Catholic high school and wanted to attend a Catholic college as well.
Religion has been constant for him; he described moments where it was hard for him to have faith, but
he never lost sight of the bigger picture and believes that God has a plan and will take care of us. He is
deeply connected with religion as an ethical call to go beyond the self. Religion, from his point of
view, is selfless. He hopes to used his religion to help others, which in turns helps him grow spiritually
and develop a strong character. For some, religion is going to church and practicing the ceremony of
worshiping with others. Jack, on the other hand, does not find meaning in the ceremony of religion,
but the practice outside of the church. When describing his religion, he stated, the order of mass does
not do much for me, I find meaning in going out and making connections with others. For him,
practicing faith is going out of his way to make everyone feel welcomed and comfortable, establishing
his religion as a prominent aspect of his overall personality. Because Jack does not see the importance
of the order of religion, he has no particular place of event attached to his religion; Jack s religion is
on a much more personal level. His religion is an inward force

Dry White Season Essay
Summary Dry White Season Adam Simon CGW 4U1 Dry White Season was what I felt to be an
exemplary interpretation of how native South Africans truly condemned the immoral Apartheid
political system of the mid 1900 s. Though the film was quite graphic, explicit nature seemed
necessary to prove how racial brutality towards the black community really did exist. I enjoyed the
whole idea of a narrow minded white man making the transition from a life of socially superior racial
prejudice to become a devoted supporter of black rights. I found this really helped create a strong
liberal message to aid viewers in understanding the sick intolerance of the majority of white South
Africans at that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benjamin is the hero; the incoherent individual that learns an unpleasant lesson due to one event that

power hungry oppressor with manipulative ways that ended up determining his fate, Johan represented
the loyal and resourceful character that led the viewer to believe there was a shed of hope throughout
any struggle, and Stanley was the character I ve seen way too often, the random bystander that
provides the cathartic release by ultimately giving the villain what he deserved. Despite some
predictable qualities, the characters were still interesting. I thought Donald Sutherland played the part
of Benjamin superbly. His air of seriousness and integrity really keep me interested in his character.
Sure, he was naïve before the death of Gordon, and it was best to just let it go at first, but he grew
from being pessimistic and cynical, to an entirely optimistic, likeable person to me the end by going
neck deep into the mystery of Gordon s disappearance. My favourite character of all though, was no
doubt Mr. McKenzie. Though he only was vaguely present, he absolutely dominated the screen during
the courtroom trial. I found his use of sarcastic remarks in the courtroom hilarious, yet so fittingly
applicable to his realist character. He clearly is a trail blazer in the sense that he is a white man

Computer Viruses and Malware Essay

Two of the common known attacks on computing systems are the deployment of computer viruses and

Computer viruses are minute program which is embedded inside an application or within a data file

meddling with normal computer operations. The consequences may range from corruption and
deletion of data; propagation of virus on to network and deployment through attachments through
emails in order to further creating havoc to all associated computing devices.

exploit vulnerabilities within the client s web browser; unpatched software or other JavaScript based
applications for mounting their attack (Karanth et al, 2011). The assailant commonly obtains the

The methods which the adversary employs may vary from:
1. Zero Day Exploits where the assailant discovers a flaw ahead of the security community in raises
the defense (Wadlow, 2009).
2. Injection Attacks where the attacker deposits the scripts into a web request to execute at the client

3. Cross site vulnerability due to poorly validated coding in JavaScript and DOM (Karanth et al, 2011)
4. XSRF ( Cross site Reference Forgery ) where the victim client is redirected to a webpage that

Physics Of Oscillations In Physics
This report investigates resonance phenomena of driven damped simple harmonic oscillations by
measuring accelerations and frequencies of an oscillator. Since it turned out that oscillations with low
damping have smaller errors than those with high damping, small damping cases are employed to
examine the resonance phenomena. Based on the Newton s 2nd Law cite{book}, the motion of
oscillations can be modeled by the following differential equation and its solution.

In total, 16 experimental data points have been taken after settling to each steady state for various
driven frequencies. The voltage data obtained in Lab View is then converted to the acceleration data
by multiplying its amplitudes by the slope of the two calibration points. Here, the voltage data is
calibrated with gravity only and with no acceleration. The slope is called calibration factor. Errors for
accelerations are the calibration factor times the error of the cursor measurements of Lab View, and
that is the minimum difference Lab View can measure. Errors for the phase shifts are obtained by
equation ref{eq5} where (Delta f¥) is an error for the driven frequency derived from the variation
in frequency displayed on the oscilloscope cite{oscilloscope}, (t) is a time shift between the peak of
the acceleration of the oscillator and the driven force, (Delta t) is an error for the time derived from

How Kings First Rule The People If Israel After The Period...
In this essay, I will discuss how kings first come to rule the people if Israel after the period of the
judges. I will examine the reign of each of the three kings. I will explain in detail how their kingdoms
enjoyed prosperity when they were obedient to God but how their kingdoms collapsed when they
turned from God. Although the prophet Samuel warned the people of Israel against the evils of
kingship, the people of Israel did not heed his warnings. Ultimately, in 931 B.C. the rule of the kings
of the united Israel would end in the division of the kingdom.
How did kings come to rule Israel? We are told that during the time of Samuel, the people of Israel
really wanted a king. All of the nations around Israel had a king, a man to lead them into battle. As
Samuel grew old, he made his sons Joel and Abijah judges. However, Samuel s sons did not exhibit
the same Godly behavior that their father displayed. Instead, Samuel s sons turned aside after
dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice . (1 Samuel 8:3 NIV) Due to the actions of
Samuel s sons and Israel s desire to be like the other nations, they requested a human king, effectively
rejecting God s kingship over them and ending the time of the judges. Samuel explains the evils of
kingship to the people of Israel, but to no avail. Israel s heart is set on an earthly king. The choice for
the first king was Saul.
However, why was Saul chosen, and, ultimately, why was he rejected? The book The Essence of the

Cinderella Compare and Contrast Essay
What goes around comes around, that s what people say. So all the pain you caused me will come

both the Grimm version and the Disney version of Cinderella, however the Grimm version definitely
exemplifies the theme more effectively than the Disney version does. The Grimm version and the
Disney version of Cinderella both include punishment to the stepsisters for how they treated

In contrast with the Grimm version, the punishment in the Disney version is more of an emotional
punishment. Whereas the Grimm version had a physical punishment. The only punishment for the
stepmother and stepsisters is that they just have to see Cinderella get what they wanted, which was to
marry the prince. This is extremely hard for them because that was what they wanted the most and
now they have to see their step sister and maid who was much too dirty to be seen (Grimm) get what
they wanted. They are probably also pretty angry and upset about what happened. It is noticeable in
the film that they are all furious that Cinderella got to become the princess. The Disney version made
this the only punishment in the story because the punishment in the Grimm version was too gory. The
Disney movie is directed towards children so they could not make it too gory, but they also had to
teach the lesson. This version did a good job exemplifying the theme, however the punishment in the
Grimm version is just more effective, as noted before. In the Grimm version, there is also extra
punishment for the stepmother as well. The stepmother now has to tend to her daughters and provide
special care for them now because they cannot walk. She talked her daughters into cutting parts of
their feet off because When you are queen you will no longer have to go on foot (Grimm.) Therefore,

I understand that a level of professionalism is an important part to the role of a teacher and although it

The importance of this subject I feel goes beyond what a teacher may know, but if they lack a clear
understanding of professionalism they are missing a broad area of the profession.
As teaching is such a demanding profession, careful consideration needs to be given to how effort is

The Effects Of Cognitive Distance On Our Lives
Everyone loves taking a vacation to a dream destination. What used to be a far away drive, is now
within hours away. Today people go over a hundred miles to see family members for a couple of days;
where as back in time people would think that is an outrageous travel just for a couple days. Our
grandparents lifestyle of growing up is completely different than the lifestyle we are living in present
day. Cognitive distance is the distance people perceive to exist. Cognitive distance is shrinking, the
world may seem smaller due to technology advances within communication, faster accessibility, and
the different lifestyle of civilization. Throughout the years as a world we have experienced technology
advancements within communication, from replacing telegrams with telephones to the spread of the
internet. When we wanted to talk to someone we would have to write them a letter, pay for postage
and send it in the mail. This would take a couple of days to get to them, an you would not know if it
was successfully delivered. Now we can communicate with another person within seconds, we do not
have to write a letter or pay for postage. All we have to do is send a real quick text message to them or
email them. They will get it within a couple seconds. You could possibly send a message to someone
in another county, state and country and you do not have to wait for days, months or years for them to
reply. Mindi Orth wrote a article for small business s explaining how we as a world

Essay on Sigmund Freud s Ego Defense Mechanisms
Sigmund Freud is perhaps one of the most well known theorists in regards to the study of the human
psyche. Freud s model of the human psyche is comprised of three core elements: the Id, or the
unconscious mind; things out of our awareness. The
Superego, or the subconscious mind, and finally the Ego, which lies between the unconscious and
subconscious. Freud proposes that there are nine ego defense mechanisms that act the ego uses in its
job as the mediator between the id and the superego. In psychoanalysis, an ego defense mechanism is
an unconscious personality reaction that the ego uses to protect our conscious mind from threatening
feelings or perceptions.
The ego defense mechanisms are as follows: denial, displacement, ... Show more content on

If I m planning to do something but something else comes up, I may try and rationalize the decision
by putting down the other option weather is going to be bad , I didn t really want to do that anyway ,
or I can always go later . Another example is entertainment movies, music, or activities; I may not like
a certain type of film or genre of music, but when American pop culture is rife with that type of music
or movie, I ll try and rationalize my association with such things as everything in moderation or it s
fine, as long as I don t indulge . Displacement is another defense mechanism I ve noticed. If I m
having a bad day or if I m mad for one reason or another, I notice that I d often take it out on
undeserving people. Often I would use an angry tone with someone if I d just been in an argument, as
my anger has not yet subsided. As with everything, everything in moderation . I believe ego defense
mechanisms are not completely unhealthy, and that using them to deal with some situations can prove
to be beneficial in the development of our personality. However, if one relies primarily on ego defense
mechanisms and refuses to deal with circumstances head on , they will develop problems later in life.
In situations when one is undoubtedly guilty, it is impossible to rationalize or justify their actions or

  • 2. Essay about Modern Photograph and Realism In 1979 Stephen Shore, Merced River, Yosemite National Park, 1930 Walker Evans, Factory street in Amsterdam, New York, and in 1941 Dorothea Lange, Road on the Great White Plains, these three photographers transformed their landscape photographs into their own distinctive significance through the expression of realism, a movement in modern photography. Shore transforms a common place to an escape, Evans documents the effects of one of the most important historical periods in American social history and Lange uses her photography as a tool for political change. Although they all embodied their photograph with their own significance, they don t share the same motives. In 1979 Stephen Shore s coolly detailed photograph, Merced River, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This image almost looks like an alley. Due to the wet glossy floors you can tell it was previously raining. The first thing to catch your attention is the long road receding infinitely, leading your eyes from the foreground to the background creating maximum depth of field like in Shore s photo. Instead of trees fading into mountains we see buildings fading into trees. Evans captures the differing building types. However, there is a repetition in windows. The stone building echoes the stone road. The power lines seem to unite the two sides of the streets together. The third building to the left is half black and half white, which creates strong contrast. The building creates a subtle shadow on each side of the stone road leaving the middle of the road highlighted by diffused sun light. The background also creates contrast as the dark trees overlap the light sky. Unlike Stephen Shore s use of color to project happiness, love, and freedom, Evan s photo is black and white, projecting loneliness, emptiness, and hopelessness. Do to the absence of human presence; this quiet image signifies solitude and abandonment. It is evident that most of these buildings are factories. However, if there are no signs of workers, the photo signifies that something so bad happened here that everyone fled and abandoned the place. With this photo, Evans does not try to persuade a point of view; instead he documents the truth, representing social realism. An artistic movement in modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Stephen Chbosky Biography Middle school can be painful for any kid, but, as Wonder begins, we suspect it s going to be especially hard for 10 year old Auggie Pullman. After 27 surgeries to help him see, breathe and hear, Auggie (played by Jacob Tremblay) doesn t look like other children. He s small and scarred, with a high pitched, scratchy voice and a braided rattail. He usually wears an astronaut helmet when he leaves the house. But after years of being home schooled by his mother (played by Julia Roberts), he s preparing to join his peers at New York s Beecher Prep. Dear God, please make them be nice to him, Auggie s mom says to his dad (played by Owen Wilson) as they watch him walk into school for the first time. Very Real Cry Fest In the wrong hands, Wonder could be a sappy slog, filled with old, unoriginal ideas about treating others the way you want to be treated. But noted child whisperer Stephen Chbosky, author of the famous young adult book The Perks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Via s estranged best friend (played by Danielle Rose Russell), meanwhile, comes off as a bit of a villain until we see the world through her troubled eyes. The message can be a little clumsy but no less worthy: You never know what someone else is going through. Even though Auggie and Via s parents don t get their own dedicated narratives, their agony and fear is in the background. Auggie s mother makes a particularly interesting character as a woman who gave up her dreams of a Ph.D. to care for her son. Now, she feels both thrilled and guilty about getting her own life back. Meanwhile, although Auggie aces every pop quiz, he struggles socially at school. One toxic teacher s pet (played by Bryce Gheisar) mercilessly teases him whenever adults are out of earshot. Predictably, after a few difficulties, Auggie makes some meaningful connections. Maintains A Light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Inspector Calls Show how the playwright uses Sheila Birling and Mr. Birling to reveal the disparities between social and moral attitudes of father and daughter. Show how the playwright uses Sheila Birling and Mr. Birling to reveal the disparities between social and moral attitudes of father and daughter. Explain how the director would make these disparities clear in a stage production of the play. There are numerous differences that are revealed between the characters of Miss Sheila Birling and Mr. Birling during the course of the play An Inspector Calls ; Most Particularly between social and moral attitudes. In Act 1 Mr. Birling acts in a very self confident and smug way. He strongly believes in a capitalist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Birling starts on another speech around the dinner table, he starts to talk about the engagement of his daughter and Gerald and how wonderful it is but he soon changes the theme of the speech to his own beliefs and knowledge of the whole world, showing how egotistical he is. When Mr.Birlings starts rambling on about war and how it is inevitable, the irony is shown to the audience. An Inspector Calls is set in 1912, before the First World War, and was written in 1945. The Audience is very well informed of Mr. Birling s visions of the future and so when he says how war is inevitable, when it has already happened; twice, the irony is clear to the audience. This lets the audience make an informed decision on the way they feel about Mr. Birling, which would probably be that he is a self indulged man that only worries about his reputation and business. Mr. Birling is publicly conscious of himself; he is obsessed with his social status and is always looking to climb the social ladder. Mr. Birling is trying to impress Gerald; But what I wanted to say is there s a fair chance that I might find my way into the next honors list. Just a Knighthood of course This quote shows the audience exactly what Birling is like. All Mr. Birling wanted to say to Gerald was that he was going to achieve a Knighthood, simply to impress Gerald and Lady Croft, therefore increasing the chance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

AUGUST 6, 2003 GEORGE CHACKO PETER TUFANO Diageo plc Ian Cray, Diageo plc s Treasurer, looked out of his office window onto the busy streets of London in October 2000. The London based consumer goods company Diageo had recently announced its intention to sell its packaged food subsidiary, Pillsbury, to General Mills. Earlier in the year, Diageo also announced its intent to sell 20% of its Burger King subsidiary through an initial public offering during 2001, to be followed by a spin off of the remainder of Burger King after December 2002. If these transactions took place, the firm would be focused exclusively on the beverage alcohol industry. As Diageo s business was restructured, it was an opportune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The firm was organized along four business segments. The largest was the Spirits and Wine business, which produced and marketed a portfolio of beverage alcohol such as scotch, vodka, gin, and tequila. Diageo s brands included Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, J B, Bailey s, Gordon s, Tanqueray, Cuervo, and Malibu. This division was not only the biggest (with revenues of £5 billion and the leading market share in the U.S. and U.K. markets) but also the fastest growing of Diageo s businesses, with sales growth of 8% for the year. More than 70% of sales and sales growth came from the Europe and North America markets. This segment enjoyed the largest profit margins of all of the segments, with 15% operating margins and growth in total operating profits of 15%. The high levels of operating profits reflected Diageo s strategy of concentrating on premium brands and pricing. (Exhibits 1 and 2 contain historical financial information for Diageo and its business segments.) Diageo s second largest division was Guinness Brewing, which produced and sold beer to markets around the world. • 6. Environmental Toxicity and Cancer Cancer is the second most prevalent cause of death in the United States, accounting for 25% of all deaths and more than 2,000 lives per day. There are over one hundred types of cancer and a number of variables that contribute to the disease, but a 2010 report to the White House noted that the burden of environmentally induced cancers has been grossly underestimated, for exposure to environmental carcinogens (toxicity) occurs regularly in the home, the workplace and through consumer products and lifestyle choices (Cancer and Toxic Chemicals, 2012). In fact, environmental factors including smoke, nutrition, and exposure to carcinogens are estimated to be responsible for up to 80% of all cancer deaths in the U.S. There is also a greater potential for toxic materials to interact with human genetic and lifestyle to increase the risks of blood born cancers. The potential for this toxicity remains critical, and under study. But the Centers for Disease Control believe that the cancer burden caused by exposure to environmental carcinogens to be even higher than currently reported (ATSDR, 2010). One of the challenges surrounding scholarly work on toxicity and cancer is related to the number of variables that may also contribute to cellular death. In addition, cancers from environmental toxicity may take years or decades to fully develop, and some types of toxicity mimic other afflictions. One such example is in the maternal transfer of heavy metals during fetal development that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though, the comparison may seem absurd initially, but starts to make sense as we move forward. Golding has stick to has ideology throughout the novel without any trace of humour. Most of the satires presented in the novel are dark and bitter in their own way. The first and the foremost satire is on civilization. In this era of moving forward with civilization and civilized people, the people still think of going to war. He highlights the destruction, evil and fear in human mind. During the start of the novel we see the boys end up in an uninhabited island. The reason of the plane crash remains unknown. The probable reason being the effect of World War II. Mostly it is a political satire. Both Ralph and Jack symbolize leadership. While most the leaders would related themselves to the Ralph and not the hated Jack, but the twist remains that it Jack who is the actual leader. This comparison has been made to mock the leaders of the world. Ralph the kind of person how we would want our leaders to actually be. This comparison reflects the difference between our dreams and ideals and the reality really is. People usually idealise such characters but our reality is far away from ... While the scope of the grand theory is nonspecific, the scope of the middle range theory is more specific and limited. A middle range theory, additionally, can be classified in terms of descriptive, explanatory, or predictive. Leventhal et al. did not identify the type of their theory. However, the words and sentences that they mentioned in the CSM can categorize as a middle range theory. The CSM was proposed to provide the framework for depicting the self regulation when individuals have to encounter stress caused by an illness and understanding the processes involved in problem coping. Leventhal et al. described that the CSM consists of three core concepts: representation of illness, coping, and coping appraisal. The relationship between the concepts was presented in the parallel processing system that interact as the individual adapts to each specific situation. These processes lead individuals to seek health care for acute illnesses and manage their illness for chronic conditions. Additionally, the CSM was used as a theoretical framework in research and applied in practice, particularly psychological, behavioral, and nursing fields. Courage is when someone or something stands up for their beliefs despite any intimidation or danger that may face them in the process. A person of this merit never puts another in harms way in order to protect him or herself. This case, Tom Robinson s case, is something that goes to the essence of a man s conscience Scout, I couldn t go to church and worship God if I didn t try to help that man. (Lee 145). Zero Day Exploits where the assailant discovers a flaw ahead of the security community in raises the defense (Wadlow, 2009). 2. Injection Attacks where the attacker deposits the scripts into a web request to execute at the client end (Wadlow, 2009). 3. Cross site vulnerability due to poorly validated coding in JavaScript and DOM (Karanth et al, 2011) 4. XSRF ( Cross site Reference Forgery ) where the victim client is redirected to a webpage that simulates the legitimate site (Wikipedia, 2011) 5. Phishing is where the gullible user is brought to a simulation of the actual site but with a minor difference. • 28. Physics Of Oscillations In Physics This report investigates resonance phenomena of driven damped simple harmonic oscillations by measuring accelerations and frequencies of an oscillator. Since it turned out that oscillations with low damping have smaller errors than those with high damping, small damping cases are employed to examine the resonance phenomena. Based on the Newton s 2nd Law cite{book}, the motion of oscillations can be modeled by the following differential equation and its solution. begin{equation} label{eq1} ddot x+2gamma dot x+omega_{0}^{2} x=left(frac{F_{0}}{m}right)e^{iomega t} end{equation} begin{equation} label{eq2} x(omega)=frac{F_{0}/m}{omega_{0}^{2} omega^{2}+2igammaomega}=A(omega)cos(omega t phi) end{equation} Acceleration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In total, 16 experimental data points have been taken after settling to each steady state for various driven frequencies. The voltage data obtained in Lab View is then converted to the acceleration data by multiplying its amplitudes by the slope of the two calibration points. Here, the voltage data is calibrated with gravity only and with no acceleration. The slope is called calibration factor. Errors for accelerations are the calibration factor times the error of the cursor measurements of Lab View, and that is the minimum difference Lab View can measure. Errors for the phase shifts are obtained by equation ref{eq5} where (Delta f¥) is an error for the driven frequency derived from the variation in frequency displayed on the oscilloscope cite{oscilloscope}, (t) is a time shift between the peak of the acceleration of the oscillator and the driven force, (Delta t) is an error for the time derived from the grid square size in the Lab View waveform graph. begin{equation} label{eq5} Delta phi = phi sqrt{(frac{Delta f}{f})^{2}+(frac{Delta t}{t})^{2}} end{equation} At the beginning of the experiment, the natural frequency of the oscillator with neither the eddy currents nor driving force is observed as (omega_{0} = 75.7 pm 0.1 ) rad/s or equivalently (f_{0} = 12.05 pm 0.01 ) Hz. The result of the experiment is summarized in Figure ~ref{fg:A} and ~ref{fg:AandPhi}. The overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. How Kings First Rule The People If Israel After The Period... In this essay, I will discuss how kings first come to rule the people if Israel after the period of the judges. I will examine the reign of each of the three kings. I will explain in detail how their kingdoms enjoyed prosperity when they were obedient to God but how their kingdoms collapsed when they turned from God. Although the prophet Samuel warned the people of Israel against the evils of kingship, the people of Israel did not heed his warnings. Ultimately, in 931 B.C. the rule of the kings of the united Israel would end in the division of the kingdom. How did kings come to rule Israel? We are told that during the time of Samuel, the people of Israel really wanted a king. All of the nations around Israel had a king, a man to lead them into battle. As Samuel grew old, he made his sons Joel and Abijah judges. However, Samuel s sons did not exhibit the same Godly behavior that their father displayed. Instead, Samuel s sons turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice . (1 Samuel 8:3 NIV) Due to the actions of Samuel s sons and Israel s desire to be like the other nations, they requested a human king, effectively rejecting God s kingship over them and ending the time of the judges. Samuel explains the evils of kingship to the people of Israel, but to no avail. Israel s heart is set on an earthly king. The choice for the first king was Saul. However, why was Saul chosen, and, ultimately, why was he rejected? The book The Essence of the Old ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

French As A Native Language French As A Native Language: An analysis and examination of areas in Western Europe Language has consistently been a fundamental tool and method in order to communicate with diverse individuals, who associate themselves and belong to various civilizations of the world. Every human being born in this world grows up learning a native language. A native language is learned from one s parents in one s home, and an individual can have more than one native language if they were brought up speaking different languages at the same time. Native languages cannot be gained later in life, and a language is only native if one grew up speaking it. The continent of Europe is a conventional way of thinking of the world. French is Europe s second most widely spoken mother tongue with over 77 million speakers . The French language can be seen spoken in different environments. It is spoken in homes, schools, the government, such as in the United Nations and most distinctively in the European Union. In Western Europe a large majority of the population learns more than one language growing up due to the close proximity to other countries who s official language may be different. There are five distinct regions in Western Europe where the French language is the population s native language: the French Republic, Wallonia, the Principality of Monaco, the Swiss Federation, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The French Republic is characterized as a unitary state and a semi presidential system enabled by the French Fifth Republic. The French Fifth Republic was established in 1958 as the aftermath of the French Fourth Republic, which preceded the governmental system and Republican Constitution set into place. The current President of the French Republic is François Holland with Prime Minister Manuel Valls. In this governmental system elections are held democratically. The theme of what goes around comes around is exemplified in both the Grimm version and the Disney version of Cinderella, however the Grimm version definitely exemplifies the theme more effectively than the Disney version does. The Grimm version and the Disney version of Cinderella both include punishment to the stepsisters for how they treated Cinderella and they both exemplify the theme. For example, in both versions, the stepsisters do not get to what they want, which is to marry the prince and for Cinderella not to be happy. The Disney version kept it this way because that is basically the story. If the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast with the Grimm version, the punishment in the Disney version is more of an emotional punishment. Whereas the Grimm version had a physical punishment. The only punishment for the stepmother and stepsisters is that they just have to see Cinderella get what they wanted, which was to marry the prince. This is extremely hard for them because that was what they wanted the most and now they have to see their step sister and maid who was much too dirty to be seen (Grimm) get what they wanted. They are probably also pretty angry and upset about what happened. It is noticeable in the film that they are all furious that Cinderella got to become the princess. The Disney version made this the only punishment in the story because the punishment in the Grimm version was too gory. The Disney movie is directed towards children so they could not make it too gory, but they also had to teach the lesson. This version did a good job exemplifying the theme, however the punishment in the Grimm version is just more effective, as noted before. In the Grimm version, there is also extra punishment for the stepmother as well. The stepmother now has to tend to her daughters and provide special care for them now because they cannot walk. She talked her daughters into cutting parts of their feet off because When you are queen you will no longer have to go on foot (Grimm.) Therefore, they cannot walk anymore and ... Or, you can determine your pulse as I mentioned above on the different sites that you would like to do. However, your wrist is more common than any other site on your body. Secondly, after determining your site, you can press lightly on your fingers until you feel the blood pulsing beneath your fingers (Pulse and Target Heart Rate (THR), n.d.). If you can t find your pulse, you can move your fingers until you feel the heartbeat. You might have to press harder because some people s arteries and veins are closer to inside of the body. Thirdly, to count your heartrate, you re going to need to get a second hand watch, or you can use a clock with a second hand. Either one will work for the procedure or skill. Lastly, you will start counting when looking at the clock. You can determine your heart beat in thirty seconds. Certainly in respect to my currently college and I feel this acts as a restraint on my progression and my ability to be professional . The importance of this subject I feel goes beyond what a teacher may know, but if they lack a clear understanding of professionalism they are missing a broad area of the profession. As teaching is such a demanding profession, careful consideration needs to be given to how effort is distributed so that every student gets equal attention. As a professional it is important that consistency is maintained. • 34. The Effects Of Cognitive Distance On Our Lives Everyone loves taking a vacation to a dream destination. What used to be a far away drive, is now within hours away. Today people go over a hundred miles to see family members for a couple of days; where as back in time people would think that is an outrageous travel just for a couple days. Our grandparents lifestyle of growing up is completely different than the lifestyle we are living in present day. Cognitive distance is the distance people perceive to exist. Cognitive distance is shrinking, the world may seem smaller due to technology advances within communication, faster accessibility, and the different lifestyle of civilization. Throughout the years as a world we have experienced technology advancements within communication, from replacing telegrams with telephones to the spread of the internet. When we wanted to talk to someone we would have to write them a letter, pay for postage and send it in the mail. This would take a couple of days to get to them, an you would not know if it was successfully delivered. Now we can communicate with another person within seconds, we do not have to write a letter or pay for postage. All we have to do is send a real quick text message to them or email them. • 35. Essay on Sigmund Freud s Ego Defense Mechanisms Sigmund Freud is perhaps one of the most well known theorists in regards to the study of the human psyche. Freud s model of the human psyche is comprised of three core elements: the Id, or the unconscious mind; things out of our awareness. The Superego, or the subconscious mind, and finally the Ego, which lies between the unconscious and subconscious. Freud proposes that there are nine ego defense mechanisms that act the ego uses in its job as the mediator between the id and the superego. In psychoanalysis, an ego defense mechanism is an unconscious personality reaction that the ego uses to protect our conscious mind from threatening feelings or perceptions. The ego defense mechanisms are as follows: denial, displacement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I m planning to do something but something else comes up, I may try and rationalize the decision by putting down the other option weather is going to be bad , I didn t really want to do that anyway , or I can always go later . Another example is entertainment movies, music, or activities; I may not like a certain type of film or genre of music, but when American pop culture is rife with that type of music or movie, I ll try and rationalize my association with such things as everything in moderation or it s fine, as long as I don t indulge . Displacement is another defense mechanism I ve noticed. If I m having a bad day or if I m mad for one reason or another, I notice that I d often take it out on undeserving people. Often I would use an angry tone with someone if I d just been in an argument, as my anger has not yet subsided. As with everything, everything in moderation . I believe ego defense mechanisms are not completely unhealthy, and that using them to deal with some situations can prove to be beneficial in the development of our personality. However, if one relies primarily on ego defense mechanisms and refuses to deal with circumstances head on , they will develop problems later in life. In situations when one is undoubtedly guilty, it is impossible to rationalize or justify their actions or attitudes and hide behind unfounded explanations in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
