Vocabulary connections: Multi-word items in English
                                          Reflection

This reflection is based on the text “Vocabulary connections: Multi-word items in
English” and how this text helped me to understand in deeply some of the contents of the
course Lexical Analysis.
In the text that was previously read is explained and defined in a very clear manner
the different kind of multi-words items, making reference in the links between words more
than as isolated units.
Reading the text has helped me not only to identify the different types of multi-word item
that exists, but also to learn how to teach these items in a better way. This matter is really
important for me as a future teacher of English as a foreign language because multi-word
items are a specific part of the language; these special words are used in certain context,
which is many times difficult to learn the appropriate and suitable language for the
appropriate communicative situation.
In terms of suitability of the text regarding the curse, it is totally relevant because it
fulfills the main objectives of the curse such as Characterizes word formation processes in
the English language, and analyze words in terms of free and bound morphemes. And the
second objective is achieved when the text show the terms and categories of the multi-word
items into 3 categories which are the institutionalization, fixednessandnon compositionality
and also to the different types of multi-word items such as phrasal verbs, compounds,
idioms, among others.
