Referencing In Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of referencing in essays can be a challenging task that requires
careful attention to detail and a thorough understanding of various citation styles. The difficulty
arises from the need to navigate through the intricacies of different referencing formats such as
APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard, each with its own set of rules and guidelines.
To begin with, one must have a solid grasp of the rules surrounding in-text citations and
bibliography entries. This involves knowing how to cite different sources, including books,
articles, websites, and more. Additionally, understanding when to use direct quotes versus
paraphrasing and how to integrate these seamlessly into the text is crucial for maintaining the
essay's flow and coherence.
Moreover, the challenge extends to ensuring the accuracy of the references and avoiding
common mistakes like missing information, incorrect formatting, or misattributed sources.
Inconsistencies in citation styles can lead to a loss of credibility and may even result in
accusations of plagiarism.
The process becomes even more intricate when dealing with electronic sources, as guidelines for
citing online materials are continually evolving. It requires staying updated on the latest standards
for citing websites, online journals, and other digital resources.
Furthermore, there is the challenge of managing a large number of sources, particularly in
research-intensive essays. Keeping track of multiple references and organizing them in a
coherent and systematic manner can be time-consuming and mentally taxing.
In conclusion, writing an essay on referencing involves more than just acknowledging sources; it
demands a meticulous approach to adhere to specific style guidelines, avoid errors, and manage
a variety of sources. The difficulty lies in the details, and a successful essay requires a writer's
dedication to mastering the art of proper referencing.
For those seeking assistance with essays or similar writing tasks, various resources are available,
such as professional writing services. Platforms like HelpWriting.net offer the option to order

complexities of academic writing.

The Influences On Attitudes Across Demographic...
There are two ways to answer this question: comparing the influences on attitudes
across seven constructs of the HBM; and comparing attitudes across demographic
characteristics. Correlation: Total Health Belief Score by Seven Constructs First,
to determine the difference of influences on attitudes by each of the seven
constructs in the HBM, the total health belief score generated in research question
2 was used as the dependent variable, and the seven constructs in the PCHAB
questionnaire were used as independent factors. An ANOVA for linear regression
analysis was performed to test if there were significant differences (see Table 6.1).
The results showed that the interaction effect between seven constructs and the
total health belief score was significant (f = 19284.073, p = 0.000). In accordance
with the detailed correlation coefficients for the seven constructs listed in Table
6.2, the regression equation could be demonstrated as: The total health belief
score = 0.135 Perceived Susceptibility + 0.103 Perceived Severity + 0.133
Perceived Benefit + 0.171 Perceived Barriers + 0.132 Cues to Action + 0.131 Self
efficacy + 0.200 Subjective Norms (p = 0.000). Consequently, the order of the seven
constructs in the extended HBM, from the most influential one to the least, is shown
as follows: Subjective Norms Perceived Barriers Perceived Susceptibility Perceived

Ghislain Magritte Essay
Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte was born November 21, 1898 in Lessines, in the
province of Hainaut, Belgium, he was the oldest child and his father was a
wealthy manufacturer. In 1910 at age 12 he started taking drawing lessons and in
1912 his mother had committed suicide by drowning herself in the river. The
legend says that Magritte was present when they had removed her body was
retrieved and is said to be the source of several of Magritte s painting in 1927 to
1928 of people s clothing covering their faces like his mother. Magritte s painting
can date clear back to 1915 and those early paintings were impressionistic in style.
From 1916 to 1918 Magritte studied at the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts and

This era is known to be Renoir Period and during this time he would produce fake
paintings of Van Gogh, Picasso, and Paul Cezanne, later to be taken about by his
brother Paul Magritte. Throughout Magritte s career his main style was a surrealist
style and he would rarely stray away from this from of work, most of the work that
he had created portrayed similar scenes and recurring themes. Magritte s favorites
happened to be creating a painting inside of a painting, floating rocks, he would also
use many inanimate objects, within a human figure to create the styles that other
artists did not use. Also during Magritte s career he would use famous paintings
created by other artists and put his twist of surrealism on the painting. One of the
most famous paintings he recreated was The Balcony by Edouard Manet. In this
painting Magritte showed his style by changing the images in the original painting to
coffins. He would create unique designs getting the viewers to look outside of the

The Self Evaluation Scales Assessment
Situation 1
I am not a very confident person when it comes to dealing with people who I do not
know well (introversion), thus I would have a harder time dealing with situation 2
compared to situation 1. I have average emotionality in my HEXACO and low
sensitivity to criticism from the Self Evaluation Scales assessment, so I would
typically be reasonably receptive to negative feedback. However, I have low
agreeableness, which indicates that I am likely to feel anger in response to perceived
mistreatment.
In this relationship, I, as the employee, would be much more likely to genuinely
respect my boss, thus the power he has over me would be a combination of
legitimate power, expert power, and referent power. Research suggests that these
bases of power are most effective and positively correlate to employee satisfaction
(Robbins Judge, 2008). Since he has my respect, I would believe that he is less
affected by bias, and trust that he would put aside his emotions in a professional
environment and treat me fairly. I would therefore seriously take his feedback into
consideration, as I know that he gives feedback in the hope that I would do better
next time. I would also have the courage to explain my point of view of the situation,
as I know that my boss would listen. Feedback would therefore be given and received
more effectively, since the communication process would be smoother, with less
noise and interference.
However, one potential issue with this kind of workplace
How Did Norman Bates Become A Psycho
A loving and conscientious man; hardworking and dedicated, who desires to live in
a better society. That was the world s first impression of Norman Bates, but behind
the charm was his hidden personality. So, how does someone like him, become a
psycho? Was Norman Bates, born a psycho, or was he turned into one because of his
environment? There are many perspectives of psychologythat will provide a fuller
understanding of Norman Batesbehavior.
From a Psychodynamic perspective, Norman s behavior springs from unconscious
desires and childhood conflicts. Norman s unconscious desires are to please his
mother. Based on the Famous novel, Psycho, Norman s mother, was very controlling.
She mentally and physically abused him; and also drilled into his brain that all
women, except herself, are dirty, untrustworthy, and evil. She taught him to never let
himself have feelings for women. Once Norman was physically attracted to a woman,
he would black out and murder her. When he snapped out of it, he wouldn t
remember a thing. His unconscious state, unlocked many unconscious motives.
Norman s behavior reflects his childhood conflicts with his mother. From a

The psychological standpoint, would back up the idea that Norman s behavior is
caused by depression or low self esteem. Which is very logical, considering all that
he has been through with his mother. The biological point of view, blames genetics
for mental illnesses. As mentioned before, Norma Bates is also unstable and her
actions display a mental illness, which can be the cause of Norman s abnormality.
Next, there is the social cultural stance, which would claim that peer pressure, or
stress from society is a causing factor. The combination of these three perspectives,
indicate that not only one factor causes people, in this case Norman, to act out or to

Analysis Of The Purple Jar By Maria Edgeworth
Rosamond, a seven year old little girl, is on her way to the store with her mother to
buy a new pair of shoes. As they are walking through the streets of London,
Rosamond can not stop looking at all the objects in the store windows. Rosamond
and her mother stop at one store that has a purple jar in the front window that she is
enamored by. Rosamond is begging her motherfor the purple jar while her mother is
trying to convince her that she needs a new shoes more. This short story The Purple

valuable lesson about wants and needs. This short story about the decision

This is a way for the students to understand what they are reading and to be able to
put what they are learning from this story and from their teachers into what they
will learn later on in school. The curriculum for reading with a group of second
grade students is, teaching the students how to interact with the text by asking
questions and answering those questions. Having the students learn how to ask
who, what, when, where, why, and how is the first step for new readers to
understand what they are reading. The students are learning how to pick out the key
ideas and details within the story to help fully understand the concept and meaning
behind the writers words. Students need to be able to describe what they are
reading and pay attention to the story s plot. Second grade students now have the
ability to understand the reason behind the characters actions within the stories that
they read. This short story in particular serves the purpose of learning how to pick
out the key ideas and details for new readers. The impact this short story brings to
the reader is one we all can relate to. We have all been that little child who wants
something different then what our mother is trying to buy for us. Parents are always
there to help us out with what we need before the things we want. The attitude and
behavior of the child in the short story should impact the students to make them see

The Legal And Ethical Issues Of Cloning
Cloning The Canadian novelist Douglas Coupland once said, Cloning is great. If
God made the original, then making copies should be fine. (Douglas Coupland
Quotes) Cloning can refer to a number of processes, but is generally understood to
mean creating an exact copy of a biological organism. For example, Scottish
researchers created a lamb named Dolly from the udder cells of another sheep.
(CloningFact Sheet) However, cloning can also refer to growing organs from
existing cells. The issue for cloning is that creating a whole organism is expensive
and goes against most religions. While this is true, cloning organs can offer people
transplants in a cheap and legal manner. The issues behind cloning are many, but
the most relevant are religion and ethics. In most religions, a higher power is the
only one who can create a human or the process for making one. For example,
Christian belief states that God is the only one who can create life.(Putatunda, The
Legal and Ethical Issues of Cloning That Make it Controversial. ) Any way that
circumvents God s plan of creation is considered unnatural. Cloning is also
considered unethical, for two basic reasons. The first is that the process has a high
failure rate and the second is the belief that a human controlling another s genes is
wrong. (Shapiro, Ethical and Policy Issues of Human Cloning. ) While these are
legitimate concerns, cloning does have many helpful applications. First, cloning can
grow healthy cells and organs
Young Pine In Light Essay
Emily Carr s Young Pines in Light (c. unknown) uses elements and principles that
suggest movement in the painting. The various use of lines, the presence of positive
space, the use of colour and an asymmetrical balance all help to suggest motion in the
painting. Line is the greatest and most prevalent element used in the painting. The
painting is filled with lines from left to right and top to bottom. There are straight
lines, curved lines, diagonal lines. The density and length of the lines are also
included in the painting. They range from thick to thin and short to long. The horizon
lineis curved in an s wave which helps to give the painting more movement from left
to right, unlike a straight horizontal line which would suggest... Show more content

There isn t much negative space or even hardly any thereof. A lot of the space in
the painting is positive. This gives us more to look at and creates the illusion of
depth. Everything behind the horizon gets smaller and smaller in size and blurred
out. Mimicking the way we actually see things in real life. Things farther away
appear smaller and sometimes we cannot make out some of the lines/shapes beyond
us. Things in the foreground, those before the horizon are much larger and we can
make out the shape of the trees and other objects. Also, in the foreground the painting
is much more spaced out rather than the background. This depth in the painting
represents the movement of our eyes from near to far. It looks as if we could actually
move through the painting and make our way into the forest. The three dimensional
space within the painting isn t very sharp but subtle instead. She perfectly softens up
the image to show a more fluid perspective. The overlapping of trees and stumps
further enhance this illusion. The curved horizontal line splits the landscape into
halves, which continue on into space. This implies that the landscape continues to
move beyond the borders, to the left and right. The importance of space in the
painting is key for allowing the painting to have the presence of
Year-Round Schools
Should School Be Year Round Year round schools have gained popularity among the
United States, being a very communicated topic within middle class communities.
These schools are generally argued about by whether they are beneficial or not.
While there are many advantages to year round schools, there are some disadvantages
as well. A few of these disadvantages include the expenses of the schools, the
schedules the schools provide, the involvement within the schools, and the actual
effectiveness of these schools.
First and foremost, one has to consider the expenses of the year round schools. The
year round schools have extra costs for the educational funds of the school, such as
costing more for supplies. According to the article Year Round Educationin a Reform
Environment by Dena Dossett, the costs for the reading and math instructions cost
$14 per student to the average cost of $8 per student. Another fee the schools have to
pay are school functioning costs. These expenses encompass keeping the school at a

There is not enough participation among communities for these schools to be built.
Many researcher show, such as in the article Year Round Schoolby Karen Walker,
there is minimal interest in the building of these, even when offered by the
government. In addition, these schools are largely middle class, because they re
private year round schools. Another thing to look at is the student attendance. Only
an average amount of students care to show up, while some refuse to show up
because of their parents. Lastly, it is difficult to transition communities from
traditional schooling, because it creates a fuss among communities during the
transition, where as a fair amount of people disagree with these transitions. To sum it
all up, there is lack of involvement in communities, the student attendance, and the
transitioning from traditional schools to year round school to

Ahh, the Amazon Rainforest is the best place to live. The vibrant beams of
sunlight give me immaculate places to lie. The bright green colors of nature
reflect against the rippling streams of the forest. Sounds in the wild are so
satisfying. Crickets steady songs make the forest peaceful. However, when a
macho predator like me lives in the forest; it is a lot more serene, quiet, and
lonesome anyway. I am a feared predator, who packs quite a wallop. Boa
Constrictors are feared, but I go beyond that. Far from mediocre. Other predators do
not compare to me, because I am simply the best.

appetite consists of dazzling, meaty prey. Deer are my main targets, but they are
quite shifty. They glide through the air with precision. In other words, they are
much faster than me. Boars are a much easier target. Their stubby feet can not gain
as much ground, so I m able to use my ruthlessness and take down those tiny
squeak toys. Now, preparation is key. Wait until the stars are luminous, and the
man in the moon is smiling bright. When the forest is lit with a trillions of lights,

from? That s right, your throat. My jaws clamp down faster than deer run. To make
this as subtle as possible, picture that deer gliding through the forest. Those are my
keen fangs gliding through this boar s throat. Unfortunately, I spooked off the other

Is that how everyone thinks? Or it is one of those evil stereotyping phrase given by
our society. However, most of our parents do believe that we spend most of our

that society is stereotyping college students as the victim of the plague of gizmos,
but I also believe that to certain degree we rely too much on technology. Therefore, I
decided to investigate JMU s students daily technology usage, opinion, and attitudes
towards computers and technologies by giving out a survey. The surveys are
composed of eleven questions including two demographic questions. I was aware of
privacy issues so I only asked demographic questions that might affect the survey
results. I made twenty copies of the survey and distributed them on January 24, 2003,
around 10:00AM , Friday outside the hall of Burruss. (See attachment for the
questions of survey part I) I distributed the twenty surveys to random students who
walked by. Amazingly, the results of the survey stated only ten percent of college
students spent most of their time playing games while online.
Seven male students and thirteen female students answered the survey. Twelve of
them were freshman and eight of them were sophomore. From the results (see Table

Opiates Research Paper
Opiates are a commonly prescribed medication today in America. These powerful
medications come from the poppy plant and are known to relieve pain. They fall into
a class known as narcotics, which also includes other pain relievers. The term is often
used interchangeably with the term opioids, drugs similar to opium. Regardless of
what you call them, opiate addictionhappens quite frequently.
Examples of Opiate Addiction
Even if you haven t heard the term opiates, you ve probably heard of the various
drugs responsible for an opiate addiction. These include:

Slang for Opiate Addiction
Teens are becoming quite skilled at hiding their opiate addiction. They ve developed
a subculture full of slang words for them. As a parent, it s important for you to know
this slang too. There are a few ways this is done, including:
Shortening the brand name or the manufacturer s name to just one syllable so
Vicodin is Vic; Percocet is Perc; Oxycontin is Oxy, OC, Roxy, or Ocean
Referring simply to the drug s common chemical base, which is either hydrocodone (
Hydros ) or oxycodone ( Drones )
Referencing the pill s weight or dosage size: Oxycontin is available in four different
doses including 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, and 80 mg so your teen may say they need to
find some 10 s, 20 s, 40 s, or 80 s respectively
Although it seems like there s a lot to know about opiates and opiate addiction, it s
important you arm yourself with this knowledge. This is the only way you can
effectively protect your teen today. However, there s a lot more information you ll
also want to know and understand. After all, you want to know how to know if
your teen is hooke on opiates and what you can do when your teen is hooked on
opiates. This addiction is so real today, these things should be considered an essential

Comparison Of Jules Ferry And Georges Clemenceau
Jules Ferry and Georges Clemenceau were two of the greatest proponents of the
Third Republic in France. They had been active even before the fall of the Second
Empire, with Ferry writing articles against the Empire in Le Temps (Encyclopædia
Britannica, 1998) and Clemenceau founding several Republican journals, and even
being present at LГ©on Gambetta s proclamation of the Third Republicin 1870
(Monnerville, 2016).Whilst it is clear that the two men were both staunch
supporters of a republic in the sense of government delegated to a small number of
citizens elected by the rest (Madison, 1787) their views on many aspects of the state
as a republic frequently clashed. This essay will break down the key differences in
Ferry and Clemenceau s positions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clemenceau is more tied to the theory of the ideal republic as espoused by J.S.
Mill, which states that in a representative democracy people exercise through
deputies periodically elected by themselves ultimate controlling power (1951 cited
Myo 2009). In this view, the politician is bound to the wishes of his electorate.
Whilst entrusted to make decisions on their behalf, they do so as a representative
and not as an autocratic ruler. Ferry on the other hand is closer to the theory of
Niccolo Machiavelli. This purports that the politician must act not as an extension of
the electorate, but as their leader, protecting them from the corruptions they see in
society (1987[1532] cited Myo 2009). Ferry is more akin to a Machiavellian
republican leader in his paternalism and his feeling that he has been elected to mold
the French nation into his republican vision as opposed to simply representing

The Case Of The Lawsuit
The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran
Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil
rights claims. 42 U.S.C. В§ 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations.
Instead, courts borrow limitation periods from state law. Courts adopt the most
analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous action for В§ 1983 is injury
to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of limitations for
claims arising out of В§ 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period
has passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two years
have passed since the claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court
should dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint.
The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An
amendment to change or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of
the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the
amended claim must arise out of the conduct, transaction, or occurrence set out in the
original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be provided to the new parties, and 3) the
new defendants must have known or should have known that the action would be
brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity. In this
case, the Defendants do not dispute the first two requirements, but Shahmaleki has
not shown his amended
Inventory Control And Its Effect On The Performance Of
The...
An inventory management system, inventory control, and inventory accuracy are
paramount to a mass production manufacturing facility, especially when multiple part
types and multiple product types are being produced. Raw component inventory can
account for millions of dollars of an organizations cash, which is not contributing to
profitability until converted to a product and sold. Therefore, it is essential for an
organization to have an inventorymanagement system and an inventory control
process to account for the value associated with each part and ultimately to return
value to the operation.
Inventory inaccuracy can negatively impact the performance of the production
control system (Chan Wang, 2014). It is difficult to account for raw materials at
every stage of the manufacturing process with complete accuracy, thus, an error
between the actual inventory level and the supply chain management systems record
of inventories cannot be completely avoided. However, when an inaccuracy exists in
the raw materials inventory it creates a negative effect on the material requirement
planning (MRP) systems. The inaccuracy of the material requirement planning
systems has a negative impact on the performance of production planning and
scheduling, which contributes to a less than optimal production output, potentially
disappointing customers with lack of manufactured goods.
A traditional inventory management system assumes that the raw material stock in

Othering In The Stranger
According to sociologists, othering is how individual s view or treat (a person or
group of people) as intrinsically different from and alien to oneself. In other terms,
the idea of otherness is mainly used for sociologically based analyses of how majority
and minority identities are constructed. According to The Strangerby Albert Camus
and The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both authors inscribe the idea of
othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of both novels
come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst
the protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. This is especially confirmed
because the representation of different groups within any given society... Show more

Both protagonists gave up on finding the purpose to their lives and began living
animalistically thinking primitively instead of cognitively. The effects of social
pressure and othering also force the protagonists to live by the existential philosophy
which means they lack a sense of emotion and interaction amongst other individuals.
Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any remorse after killing an
innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the mentality that
shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it.
The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the
people in it. It forces the idea of one group being better than the other. The sense of
nationalism tied with othering causes others to feel as though they do not belong or
causes people to have too much pride in themselves. We see being a part of either
part if the spectrum only leads to chaos and

Gene Knockdown Of Daisy s Milk
Daisy is a genetically modified cow that has been engineered to produce milk that is
free of the ОІ lactoglobulin protein (BLG), which is not produced in humans that
some people especially infants, are allergic to through skin, digestive and
respiratory reactions. A group of New Zealand scientists from AgResearch
engineered Daisy through a process called gene knockdown and cloning by somatic
cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) to shut down the gene responsible for this protein. This
genetic alteration decreased the amount of BLG in Daisy s milk to approximately
5% of original levels however; it caused the increase in concentration of caseins,
which is another milk protein that could still cause allergic reactions. The process of
producing an egg that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is usually either reproductive cloning or therapeutic cloning. The process of
cloning by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) is a process in which a donor
somatic cell with the already genetically modified nucleus and the ability to
produce RNAi molecules was taken from a cow and a enucleated metaphase II egg
cell from another cow is fused with it. The cells are collected from the donors and
cultured in vitro. The somatic donor cell will not express genes as it can be made
to return to a dormant or embryonic state by the process of depriving it of nutrients.
The nutrient deprived somatic cell containing the nucleus will stop dividing where
gene knockdown has already taken place to reduce the effect of the BLG protein
and can now be used to fuse with the enucleated egg cell. The donor somatic cell
and the membrane of the egg cell are fused together by a mild electric pulse and a
certain amount of time is needed between the first and second electric pulses to
allow time for the yet unknown factors in the cytoplasm to activate the chromatin.
The nucleus of the somatic cell is reprogrammed by the enucleated egg cell. This
time in vitro also allows time for the embryos to develop into a blastocyst. A
blastocyst is a bundle of cells which possess an inner cell mass. This can be seen in
the diagram opposite. During this delayed time period the cell is

The Mississippi River is one of the world s major river systems not only in size, but
in habitat diversity as well. It is the third longest river in North America. It flows
2,350 miles from its source at Lake Itasca through the center of the United States to
the Gulf of Mexico. When the Mississippi is compared to other world rivers, it ranks
fourth in length (3,710 miles/5,970 km) following right behind the Yangtze Rivers

Slaves did not just capitulate to their situation. 1.What were some ways slaves
resisted? As a means of showing contempt and overall disapproval of being forced
to live and labor against their will slaves resisted in a variety of ways that ranged
from minor delinquency to felonious methods. To disrupt the daily routine where
they worked they would purposefully break tools and make false claims of illness.
On the other end of the spectrum they would sometimes launch physical attacks, both
covert and overt, against whites. 2.How did they demonstrate a sense of semi
independence or self worth? African American slaves during that era used family as a

Essay about The Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals
Can suicide be justified as morally correct? This is one of the many questions
Immanuel Kant answers in, The Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals . Kant
discusses many questions with arguable answers, which explains why he is one of
the most controversial philosophers still today. Throughout Kant s work, multiple
ideas are considered, but the Categorical Imperativeis one of the most prevalent.
Though this concept is extremely dense, the Categorical Imperative is the law of
freedom that grounds pure ethics of the metaphysics of ethics. Categorical
imperatives are the basis of moralitybecause they provoke pure reasons for every
human beings actions. By the end of his work, one will understand Kant s beliefs on
morality, but to explain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, there are few to none examples of a Categorical Imperative,
because as Kant would believe, they have to be actions that are good in themselves
completely. To arrive at the Categorical Imperative, Kant starts off by explaining
that an action is good without qualification if done from duty and not primarily
from inclination, or ulterior motives. This, in a more simplified manner, means an
action is good if it was the right thing to do and a person did it for the sake of duty
and not because of anything else, like instincts or feelings. Kant believes there are
very few people in this world that can actually live up to the standard of duty. From
this point, Kant states that moral worth is determined by the rule or principle by
which an action has been decided, not in the purpose to be attained by it. This
statement goes back to the difference of means versus ends; is a person s action
based on the mean or is it based on ends? After Kant arrives at this, he then affirms
that duty is the reverence for the law. The difference between reason and will is
established at this point. Reason, or thought, can be described as theoretical or pure
reason, or it can be described as practical reason. Kant describes theoretical reason
as determining a given concept, but practical reason is idea of making the concept
actual. Will, on the other side, can be broken down to either the holy will or
empirically mixed
Military Professionalism
Military Professionalism cannot be incontestably defined, unless it is phrased in
terms of what it seeks to address: the relationship between the civilian and military
spheres and the traditions and skills necessary to conduct effective exercises of
power on behalf of the state. Thus, Military Professionalism may be defined as any
combination of behaviors, traits, values, and skills which lead to an optimal outcome
in these categories. Huntington and Janowitz differ insofar as they attempt to
describe different methods by which MilitaryProfessionalism is arrived at, though
their core metrics are similar insofar as they agree upon the existence of an optimal
level of power for the military to possess in relation to the civilian government....

In fact, for Huntington, that is the entirety of the definition! To quote him directly, A
highly professional officer corps stands ready to carry out the wishes of any civilian
group which secures legitimate authority within the state. Huntington, of course, puts
forward a substantial sub structure in his defining of Military Professionalism which
is not readily apparent in what seems to be such a simple definition. In his principle
work on civilian military relations, The Soldier and the State, he puts forward a
dichotomy of objective and subjective civilian control over the military, the former of
which represents simple voluntary and autonomous subservience to the objectives of
the civilian sphere, while the latter indicates a transmutation, and an integral
weakening and altering of the military readiness in an attempt to ensure the primacy
of civilian power. Thus, Military Professionalism as autonomous subservience fulfills
the role of the optimal relation of military and state by Huntington s
Sweden s Unusual Solution to the Energy Crisis
Did you know fossil fuels, unlike renewable sources of energy like hydropower,
wind and solar do not directly emit greenhouse gases. Scientists believe that
greenhouse gasses are the culprits behind global warming. The U.S.A. is trailing
behind in recycling and can improve on its sustainability and implement Sweden s
use of trash as a source of energy, enforce recyclinglaws, and create a greener
lifestyle. One way the United States can improve on its sustainability is by using
their trash as a source of energy. Sweden s wasteto energy program generates about
twenty percent of the country s district heating. This also generates electricity for a
quarter million homes. The incinerationprocess is very efficient at creating heat and
energy (Smith 1). In 2012 four percent of Swedish garbage is put into landfills, in
2013 only one percent of Sweden s trash is put into landfills, half of the waste is
recycling and forty nine percent is burned in waste to energy plants (Jones 1).
Power plants have more than doubled the amount of energy produced since 1985
(Schonning 2). It cost $286,000,000 to buy a waste to energy plant and the revenue
is $36,000,000 to $70,000,000; the plant will pay itself back in 10 years (Schonning
3). Sweden also recently imported 800,000 tons of trash annually from other
countries (Jones 1). They are also being paid for taking the trash and making energy
from the trash it is an extremely efficient system.

Application Of Capital Gain Taxation ( Cgt ) Provisions...
INTRODUCTION:
For the application of Capital Gain Taxation (CGT) provisions under the Australian
taxation system, the happening of a CGT event is must. The most common capital
gain tax event is a sale of assets. These assets may be generally the either the real
estate or the shares. However, there are other events also which are considered as
CGT events.
TO WHOM APPLICABLE:
The provisions of the capital gains or losses are applicable on the following three
kinds of legal personalities: Individuals. Companies. Trusts.
The CGT is applicable only on the residents of Australia. It may be applicable on the
foreign nationals only if they hold an Australian property.
PROPERTIES THAT CAN BE TAXED:
The provisions of the CGT are available only on the properties which are acquired
by any individual company or trust after 20th September, 1987. The CGT provisions
were introduced on the above mentioned date and it was applied prospectively. Thus,
the properties acquired before 20th September 1987 are not meant to be taxable
under CGT.
The capital assets under CGT may be defined as either of the following: Property of
any kind. Legal or equitable rights.
Some exemptions are also been provided under the legislation. Most of the personal
assets like residential homes, vehicles and other personal assets have been exempted
from the provision.
DETERMINATION OF THE HAPPENING OF THE CGT EVENTS:
Capital gain taxes are only triggered by the CGT Events. Although there are many

containing a lower amount of sucrose concentration and a higher amount of water

would decrease due to less water transferring through the plasma membrane, and this
is due to a lower water concentration being inside the solutionthan inside the core.
Tests were taken to see which sucrose solutionscaused the mass to decrease and
which solutions cause the mass to increase. There was less water concentration when

Connecting any generator in parallel into the local final circuit with another source
however has several implications in terms of electric shock protection. The most
important are the safety to the service s staff, public and the users of the generator.
In order to evade the risk of electric shock, the users mentioned above should be
informed of an operational generator (Small Scale Embedded Generator SSEG)
through labels, so they can take their precautions. The main source supply and SSEG
must be isolated prior to any electrical work installation/connection. The SSEG

This type of protection is known to be either a TT or TN systems. The TT System
of Earthing is not suitable where a TN C S system is available it s only used in old
installation or rural parts of the country where overhead cable supplies are used.
The associated earth fault loops with the TT System of Earthing is that the
exposed conductive metalwork causes a fault current to flow through it to earth
and return to the source via a general mass of earth (Figure 1). It is anticipated that
the level of fault current will cause the RCD to trip or to blow the fuse in the time
indicated in the ETCI rules. At 230 Volts its 5 seconds for fixed equipment, 0.4
seconds for portable equipment, socket outlets and 0.4 seconds for fixed equipment
in bathrooms. The main disadvantage of the TT system connection of protecting
against indirect contact is that the earth fault path resistance could easily allow a
continual earth fault to exist which may well be lethal or causes fire. The TN C S
system of earthing has the main earth terminal connected to the supply neutral and
the earth electrode. When the load fault to earth occurs it turn into a fault to the
incoming neutral and the fault route resistance is a lot lower than the TT system. A
large current will flow which causes the RCD to trip within the specified time

education under communism, contrast to capitalism. Capitalism everyone is able
to get a free education to certain level. For example, in America a capitalist
country, you re able to get free education until high school. For a person to get an
higher level education like a bachelor, masters, or PhD they will need a certain
amount of income. This a wonderful system to negate someone from getting a
higher amount of education because if every individual was able to get a phD ,
there will be no gap between education level and salaries. An uneconomic where
everyone is doing shouldn t exist. When it comes down to how much of an
education someone gets, it should be how much effort he puts into his own
education. Andrew Carnegie implied this in The Gospel of Wealth , the main
consideration should be to help those who will help themselves; to provide part of
the means by which those who desire to improve may do so; to give those who
desire to rise the aids by which they may rise; to assist, but rarely or never to do all.
Neither the individual nor the race is improved by almsgiving. Those worthy of
assistance, except in rare cases, seldom require assistance. A person should help
someone who needs a boost, not someone who s helpless. If an individual is trying
to get a masters degree and have showed his efforts through undergrad school, he

The Impact Of The Allies In World War II
World War II, the second time of the world war, lasted from September 1th, 1939 to
September 2th 1945. There were two difference alliances in the WWII, the Axis and
Anti fascist Alliance. The winner of the WWII was Allies, and there are many
reasons that can explain why Allies can win it. The most important reason is that
Allies gained most support from the public and citizens because Allies represented
the justice side. However, there is also a crucial factor that helps the Allies to win
the WWII which is the new invention and technology. Inventors made new weapons
such as tanks, proximity fuses and atom bomb. The impacts of these weapons were

Atom bomb is a new bomb invention during the WWII. Begin in 1944, some
young Japanese men chose to become kamikaze pilots who undertook suicide
missions, crashing their explosive laden airplanes into American warships (Ellis
Esler 588). Because of this team, Japan won a lot of battles and it made the United
States angry. Some scientists offered a new way to end of the war. They invented
a new bomb, this new bomb was super powerful than any bomb before, and this
project is called the Manhattan Project. In July 1945, American successfully tested
the first atom bomb in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Then they told president about
this project, during that time, the president of America is Harry Truman. And he
found that atom bomb was a really useful weapon to end the war, so he decided to
use it to against Japan. They gave Japan a warning about that surrender or complete
destruction and utter devastation . But Japan even didn t care about this. Then, the
hell was coming. On August6, 1945, American dropped the first atom bomb little
boy over the city of Hiroshima. The bomb flattened four square miles and instantly
killed more than 70,000 people (Ellis Esler 589). We can find that the atom bomb
was a definitely destruct weapon, it killed 70,000 people at the same time. We turned

Taking a Look at Imaginary Companions
The article, Imaginary Companions, Creativity, and Self Image in Middle Childhood
by Eva Hoff investigates four questions: First, whether there is a relationship between
imaginary companions and creative potential; second, whether children with negative
self images are more likely to have imaginary companions; third, whether there are
gender differences among those children who have imaginary companions; and,
finally, what aspects of imaginary companions and what characteristics of those who
invent them are related to creativity(Hoff 2005).
The measurements used were a questionnaire about imaginary companions, 3
estimates of creative potential, and a self image inventory. The participants were 69
fourth graders (35 girls and 34 boys) in six classes at three Swedish schools, with
somewhat different demographic profiles, but with the majority from middle class
homes. A subgroup of 26 children (16 girls and 10 boys), comprising all children
with imaginary companions from four classes, were given a more thorough
questionnaire and interviewed about their companions. In the second wave of data
collection, when an imaginary companion questionnaire was given to the children,
two classes from the original sample dropped out because their teachers could not
spare that extra time.
In this study the variables are creativity, self image, gender, style of defense,
identification patterns, waiting ability, and creativity. Half of the fourth graders in
this study reported having
How Does A Clockwork Orange Relate To Psychology
A Clockwork Orange Analysis Paper In the movie A Clockwork Orange, the main
character Alex is a deviant adolescent who commits many violent and sexual
atrocities and is eventually jailed for them. While in jail, Alex is given the
opportunity to shorten his sentence if he would participate in an experiment. This
experiment actually involved the Ludovico Technique, a form of aversion therapy
where the participator watches film of his antisocial behavior and presumably enjoys
it, but afterwards is given a drug to make him feel sick while he watches the same
film. This leads the participant to associate the film with the negative feeling in the
stomach, and presumably would lead to him associating the antisocial behavior with
the bad feeling. In the movie, Alexgoes through this procedure, watching video of
violence and rape, and is later shown to be incapable of assaulting a man who
belittles him and is violently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film provides a good example for how classical conditioning is used in the
world. Skinner s theories of behaviorism are introduced in many of the scenes
throughout the movie. According to Skinner, acquisition and retention of new
behaviors would elicit rewards. Pavlov s theory of classical conditioning involves
a stimulus and a response that are connected (Myers, 2013). Using the injection,
classical conditioning was used to make Alex feel ill every time he watched the
films. Thus, every time Alex felt the urge to be violent he would associate those
feelings with physical illness and respond by not responding and lashing out.
According to Thorndike s Law of Effect, we only repeat behaviors that provide us
with a desired effect. Since violence was no longer a behavior that gave him
pleasure, he could no longer obtain the same gratification as before. Alex
extinguished his behaviors because they were no longer
Julian Postage Stamp
Why Doesn t Percy L. Julian have a Stamp Already?
I strongly believe that Percy L. Julian deserves a United States postage stamp. He
was quite intelligent, educated, and hard working, and helpful chemist. He was the
first black chemist elected to the National Academy of the Sciences. This is one of
the reasons I strongly believe he deserves a United States postage stamp. Julian never
had a chance at a completely normal education but he became a very smart individual.
When Julian had finished the eighth grade he couldn t go to high school because at
that time there were no high schools open to black students. Instead, he went to
Depauw University. When he went to the University he needed to also take high
school level classes
Speech On Oral Piercing
Body piercing may sound like a new age art but the truth is that we have been
practicing it for centuries. Have you ever realised that even your earring hole is a
form of body piercing? It is the most common form of body piercing practiced. In
India, women routinely pierce their nostrils too. Instances of body piercinghave been
found in the Bible as well as in Egyptian Mummies.
Body piercing is the piercing of a body part in order to wear jewelery in the
opening created. Does that sound crazy? For millions of teenagers and even older
people, it is the biggest fashion accessory. People may undergo piercing for a
number of reasons. While the most popular reason is aesthetics, sometimes people
may pierce for religious, cultural, or sexual reasons. ... Show more content on

Ask for studs in the lip to be placed in a neutral space along the lower gum line. This
will prevent damage around the mouth area. Tongue piercing needs to be angled such
that they do not catch in the palate on the roof of your mouth or the sublingual web
along the bottom. Acrylic rather than metal jewellery is considered safest for the
mouth region. This is because metal can easily chip teeth and cause injuries.
According to the Association of Professional Piercers, when properly performed,
an oral piercing procedure will last only for a few seconds and involve no
bloodshed or swelling. People with oral piercings are advised not to share plates
and other eating utensils. Though the mouth is exposed to a variety of germs, the
saliva has several antimicrobial factors that can easily defend you against these
pathogens. However, if you go to an unsafe clinic or you default on your aftercare,
there can be severe complications. Pain and bleeding, infections, dental and heart
problems, injury due to swallowing the jewelery, drooling, and bad breath are some
of the risks. The American Dental Association is against oral piercing and deems it a
public health hazard. Some gruesome photographs only intensify the
Analysis Of A Harbor In Moonlight
Claude Joseph Vernet is a very largely known French artist from the early 1700 s.
He has been known to be one of the best landscape painters of all time. Vernet paints
from a different perspective than many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on
viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous including A Harbor in Moonlight
which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum.
A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught
my eye was the different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My
first reaction was a sense of calmness and relief. There are many reasons that I got
the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is the arrangements of
lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this
piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it,
it is very dull and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere
near the same result as the lighting.
It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something.
Just by looking at it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the
picture. The main sources of light that stood out to me were the fire, moon,
lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the water. All of them
provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of
security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come
Implementation Plan For A Different Hospital Process
Implementation Plan The implementation process is a crucial part to piloting a
different hospital process, therefore, a well planned and thought out implementation
plan is imperative to the project success (Draft, 2004). It is essential the
implementation plan utilizes a project management process, including project
initiation, planning and execution phases (Chow, Woodford Lambe, 2013)
(Appendix G). Project Initiation (January August, 2017) The first phase will
designate an RD as project leader for this MST pilot. Initially, the RD will review
the current malnutrition research and literature as well as assess the outlined
problem. Once a need is established, the RD will review the FMEA to assess risks
associated with this project,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Malnutrition Steering Committee will analyze risks and benefits of
implementing a pilot project within NYGH. Once all preliminary planning is
complete, the Malnutrition Steering Committee will formally present the current
screening analysis and project plan to Senior Leadership, including data collection,
efficiency, and cost benefit analysis. The Committee will illustrate how this change
aligns with the hospital s strategic plan by highlighting its potential to decrease the
length of stay, improving patient nutritional status and support inter professional
patient family centered care and innovation initiatives. The Committee will also
present to staff on both units the current Canadian malnutrition research, highlight
new ways of detecting malnutrition, one being the new MST, and opportunities this
change will present. Communicating the urgency to change the tool, would promote
buy in from the senior leadership team as well as unit staff members (Senior and
Swailes, 2010). Once the project is approved by Senior Leadership, the Malnutrition
Steering Committee will work with the IT manager to design and implement the
changes to the current screening tool within the EMR. The IT Manager will remove
the current nutrition screening tool
Duck Hunting Research Paper
Duck Hunting
One early saturday morning my dad (Shawn), my cousin (trey), and I woke up at
2:30 a.m. to go duck hunting. When we get out there we are one of the first people
there and 4:00 comes along and we sent out to our spot. When we come to a spot
that boats can t go we have to walk for about 15 minutes. As we are putting out the
last of are decoys we here so more people throwing out decoys and they are pretty
close. Well, we start talking to them and they are pretty nice and they ask if they
can hunt with us and we said yes. Then, daylight comes and a group of ducks come
in and we shot but I was the only one that killed one that we could find and itВґs a
drake which is a male mallard. Then, my dad shoots and we could not find his ducks.

When we put the boat back in as we are driving down the bayou we see some duck
swimming in the woods and we stop and pull up and tie off the boat and start
walking to them. Well, as we are chasing them we jump some up but we don t shot.
Well, when we find the ones we were chasing and we shot my dad hits one and it
lays there and as we go to get it gets up and flies away. well we decided to go get
the boat and the decoys and hunt there well on the way out my cousin gets the
bright idea to try to climb over the log instead of going around it and I said ВЁ
have fun trying to get over that logВЁ and he said ВЁ I will.ВЁ When he gets to
the top of the log and gets stood up he losses his balance and slips and falls as he is
falling he drops his gun in the water and luckily it hits his legs and he catches it
and when he gets up he looks like he is going to cry and then I bust out laughing
and so does my dad then my cousin just starts laughing. When we got to the boat
my dad said do you all want to hunt here or go were we normally do and we said
were we normally do and he said ok. When we get there my cousin takes his
waiters completely off and dumps the water out of them and puts the back on and
when we get to our spot there ducks are everywhere. We end up going home with
every body limited out which mean everybody kills their limit
Children Who Suffer From Neglect Essay
Every year there are millions of children who suffer from an epidemic of child abuse
and neglect at the hands of the very people who they trust to love them and care for
them. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2011), child
neglect accounted for 78.3% of all reported cases of maltreatment. These statistics
make neglectthe most common type of child maltreatment, however it is often
under recognized. The Department of Health (1999) refers to neglect as the
persistent failure to meet a child s basic physical and/or psychological needs, likely
to result in the serious impairment of the child s health or development. Physical,
psychological, medical, educational, and mental health, are the five major types of
neglect identified by famed psychologist Erik Erikson. Many children who suffer
from neglect experience detrimental physical and psychological consequences
including, poor mental and emotional health, cognitive difficulties, poor hygiene,
hunger, inadequate language skills, illness, and even death. Children who are
young, irritable, disabled, or premature are more susceptible to neglect. In the
article Signs, Symptoms and Risk Factors: Health Visitors Perspectives of Child
Neglect , Helen Herron David Lewin and conducted a research study based on their
expertise in the field of child protection, the perceptions of experienced health
visitors with respect to 45 signs, symptoms and risk factors of child neglect derived
from the literature (2007).
Examples Of Deterrence Justification
Deterrence justification is the reasoning of punishing criminals in order to set an
example and decrease the crime rate. A common punishment that is defensible under
deterrence justification is the death penalty. According to the data on the Executions
and Murder Rate graph, there is a correlation between the number of executions that
were carried out and the murder rate over a rate of fifty years. However, the data of
the graph exhibited other variables (confounding variables) that could have affected
the initial two. The confounding variables that affect these two variables include
policy changes made to reduce crime, the criminal landscape, the number of states
that allow the death penalty, and how many are actually carried out. The deterrence...

Capital punishment comes at a hefty price. A lot of tax dollars go to this supposed
justified deterrence that is intended to reduce the rate of murder and crime. The
money could be put to better use, such as reforming the criminal justice system and
put funding into low income neighborhoods and programs for at risk youths. These
would be better alternatives to the death penalty. Another point is the level
effectiveness of the death penalty. The data on the Executions and Murder Rate graph
shows that even though the murder rate rose to an all time high when there was little
to no executions between the years of 1965 to 1980, it did not start to gradually
decline until around 1995, about fifteen years after the number of executions started
to decrease. A lot of time and money is being used in capital punishment without fast
enough results. According to the data on the Executions and Murder Rate per State,
2010 section, the majority of states in this country either have outlawed capital
punishment or not had any executions that year. States, such as North Dakota, has no
capital punishment and less than 2 (per 100,000) murder rate, while Arizona has the
death penalty and a murder rate of more than 6 (per
The Beginning of Our Annual Beach Journeys
I can remember the day clearly as if it were yesterday. The sand covering my feet
was shining brightly with resilient sunlight. The tides crashed gently against the
sand as if caressing it. The wind carried on casually; at times I felt no breeze at all,
as if the wind itself stopped for a second to enjoy the relaxing scene. This day
marked the beginning of our annual familybeach journeys. I was 9 years old and
was overly obsessed with an old raggedy purse made out of old pillow cases and
bed sheets. My mom was a seamstress and I considered myself very lucky growing
up being able to watch her work. Months prior to our summer trip, for Christmas, I
received a pink kid s mini sewing machine. I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling
inside me as I opened my gift. The patchwork on the purse was a display of
creativity on my first fashion accessory. Psychologically, this item brought to me
so much comfort just like my baby brother who was emotionally attached to his
smelly, old blankey. It was the summer of 1996, when we arrived at Malaquite
Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. There were many other families sitting at the
beach sharing the warm summer day. We began to set up our area by creating
some shade with a wide, heavy beach canopy. My family came prepared with large
coolers full of cold waters and sodas. My sisters and I began applying plenty of
sunblock, meanwhile, my dad and brother in laws fired up the pit. There is nothing
more enjoyable than playing with Frisbee s at the

Referencing In Essay

  • 1. Referencing In Essay Writing an essay on the topic of referencing in essays can be a challenging task that requires careful attention to detail and a thorough understanding of various citation styles. The difficulty arises from the need to navigate through the intricacies of different referencing formats such as APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard, each with its own set of rules and guidelines. To begin with, one must have a solid grasp of the rules surrounding in-text citations and bibliography entries. This involves knowing how to cite different sources, including books, articles, websites, and more. Additionally, understanding when to use direct quotes versus paraphrasing and how to integrate these seamlessly into the text is crucial for maintaining the essay's flow and coherence. Moreover, the challenge extends to ensuring the accuracy of the references and avoiding common mistakes like missing information, incorrect formatting, or misattributed sources. Inconsistencies in citation styles can lead to a loss of credibility and may even result in accusations of plagiarism. The process becomes even more intricate when dealing with electronic sources, as guidelines for citing online materials are continually evolving. It requires staying updated on the latest standards for citing websites, online journals, and other digital resources. Furthermore, there is the challenge of managing a large number of sources, particularly in research-intensive essays. Keeping track of multiple references and organizing them in a coherent and systematic manner can be time-consuming and mentally taxing. In conclusion, writing an essay on referencing involves more than just acknowledging sources; it demands a meticulous approach to adhere to specific style guidelines, avoid errors, and manage a variety of sources. The difficulty lies in the details, and a successful essay requires a writer's dedication to mastering the art of proper referencing. For those seeking assistance with essays or similar writing tasks, various resources are available, such as professional writing services. Platforms like HelpWriting.net offer the option to order essays, research papers, and more, providing valuable support for those looking to navigate the complexities of academic writing. • 2. The Influences On Attitudes Across Demographic... There are two ways to answer this question: comparing the influences on attitudes across seven constructs of the HBM; and comparing attitudes across demographic characteristics. Correlation: Total Health Belief Score by Seven Constructs First, to determine the difference of influences on attitudes by each of the seven constructs in the HBM, the total health belief score generated in research question 2 was used as the dependent variable, and the seven constructs in the PCHAB questionnaire were used as independent factors. An ANOVA for linear regression analysis was performed to test if there were significant differences (see Table 6.1). The results showed that the interaction effect between seven constructs and the total health belief score was significant (f = 19284.073, p = 0.000). In accordance with the detailed correlation coefficients for the seven constructs listed in Table 6.2, the regression equation could be demonstrated as: The total health belief score = 0.135 Perceived Susceptibility + 0.103 Perceived Severity + 0.133 Perceived Benefit + 0.171 Perceived Barriers + 0.132 Cues to Action + 0.131 Self efficacy + 0.200 Subjective Norms (p = 0.000). Consequently, the order of the seven constructs in the extended HBM, from the most influential one to the least, is shown as follows: Subjective Norms Perceived Barriers Perceived Susceptibility Perceived Benefit Cues to Action

The Self Evaluation Scales Assessment Situation 1 I am not a very confident person when it comes to dealing with people who I do not know well (introversion), thus I would have a harder time dealing with situation 2 compared to situation 1. I have average emotionality in my HEXACO and low sensitivity to criticism from the Self Evaluation Scales assessment, so I would typically be reasonably receptive to negative feedback. However, I have low agreeableness, which indicates that I am likely to feel anger in response to perceived mistreatment. In this relationship, I, as the employee, would be much more likely to genuinely respect my boss, thus the power he has over me would be a combination of legitimate power, expert power, and referent power. Research suggests that these bases of power are most effective and positively correlate to employee satisfaction (Robbins Judge, 2008). Since he has my respect, I would believe that he is less affected by bias, and trust that he would put aside his emotions in a professional environment and treat me fairly. I would therefore seriously take his feedback into consideration, as I know that he gives feedback in the hope that I would do better next time. I would also have the courage to explain my point of view of the situation, as I know that my boss would listen. Feedback would therefore be given and received more effectively, since the communication process would be smoother, with less noise and interference. However, one potential issue with this kind of workplace
  • 5. How Did Norman Bates Become A Psycho A loving and conscientious man; hardworking and dedicated, who desires to live in a better society. That was the world s first impression of Norman Bates, but behind the charm was his hidden personality. So, how does someone like him, become a psycho? Was Norman Bates, born a psycho, or was he turned into one because of his environment? There are many perspectives of psychologythat will provide a fuller understanding of Norman Batesbehavior. From a Psychodynamic perspective, Norman s behavior springs from unconscious desires and childhood conflicts. Norman s unconscious desires are to please his mother. Based on the Famous novel, Psycho, Norman s mother, was very controlling. She mentally and physically abused him; and also drilled into his brain that all women, except herself, are dirty, untrustworthy, and evil. She taught him to never let himself have feelings for women. Once Norman was physically attracted to a woman, he would black out and murder her. • 8. The Legal And Ethical Issues Of Cloning Cloning The Canadian novelist Douglas Coupland once said, Cloning is great. If God made the original, then making copies should be fine. (Douglas Coupland Quotes) Cloning can refer to a number of processes, but is generally understood to mean creating an exact copy of a biological organism. For example, Scottish researchers created a lamb named Dolly from the udder cells of another sheep. (CloningFact Sheet) However, cloning can also refer to growing organs from existing cells. The issue for cloning is that creating a whole organism is expensive and goes against most religions. While this is true, cloning organs can offer people transplants in a cheap and legal manner. The issues behind cloning are many, but the most relevant are religion and ethics. In most religions, a higher power is the only one who can create a human or the process for making one. For example, Christian belief states that God is the only one who can create life.(Putatunda, The Legal and Ethical Issues of Cloning That Make it Controversial. ) Any way that circumvents God s plan of creation is considered unnatural. Cloning is also considered unethical, for two basic reasons. The first is that the process has a high failure rate and the second is the belief that a human controlling another s genes is wrong. (Shapiro, Ethical and Policy Issues of Human Cloning. ) While these are legitimate concerns, cloning does have many helpful applications. First, cloning can grow healthy cells and organs

The various use of lines, the presence of positive space, the use of colour and an asymmetrical balance all help to suggest motion in the painting. Line is the greatest and most prevalent element used in the painting. The painting is filled with lines from left to right and top to bottom. There are straight lines, curved lines, diagonal lines. This gives us more to look at and creates the illusion of depth. Everything behind the horizon gets smaller and smaller in size and blurred out. Mimicking the way we actually see things in real life. Things farther away appear smaller and sometimes we cannot make out some of the lines/shapes beyond us. Things in the foreground, those before the horizon are much larger and we can make out the shape of the trees and other objects. Also, in the foreground the painting is much more spaced out rather than the background. This depth in the painting represents the movement of our eyes from near to far. It looks as if we could actually move through the painting and make our way into the forest. The three dimensional space within the painting isn t very sharp but subtle instead. She perfectly softens up the image to show a more fluid perspective. The overlapping of trees and stumps further enhance this illusion. The curved horizontal line splits the landscape into halves, which continue on into space. This implies that the landscape continues to move beyond the borders, to the left and right. The importance of space in the painting is key for allowing the painting to have the presence of

These schools are generally argued about by whether they are beneficial or not. While there are many advantages to year round schools, there are some disadvantages as well. A few of these disadvantages include the expenses of the schools, the schedules the schools provide, the involvement within the schools, and the actual effectiveness of these schools. First and foremost, one has to consider the expenses of the year round schools. The year round schools have extra costs for the educational funds of the school, such as costing more for supplies. Only an average amount of students care to show up, while some refuse to show up because of their parents. Lastly, it is difficult to transition communities from traditional schooling, because it creates a fuss among communities during the transition, where as a fair amount of people disagree with these transitions. In this view, the politician is bound to the wishes of his electorate. Whilst entrusted to make decisions on their behalf, they do so as a representative and not as an autocratic ruler. Ferry on the other hand is closer to the theory of Niccolo Machiavelli. This purports that the politician must act not as an extension of the electorate, but as their leader, protecting them from the corruptions they see in society (1987[1532] cited Myo 2009). Ferry is more akin to a Machiavellian republican leader in his paternalism and his feeling that he has been elected to mold the French nation into his republican vision as opposed to simply representing

The Case Of The Lawsuit The Complaint Should Be Dismissed Because the Statute of Limitations Has Ran Shahmaleki s complaint is futile because the statute limitation has run on the civil rights claims. 42 U.S.C. В§ 1982 does not include its own statutes of limitations. Instead, courts borrow limitation periods from state law. Courts adopt the most analogous limitations period. In Kansas, the analogous action for В§ 1983 is injury to the rights of another. That means under Kansas law, the statutes of limitations for claims arising out of В§ 1983 is two years. Here, the statutes of limitations period has passed. The claim set out by Shahmaleki arose on May 1, 2013. As two years have passed since the claim arose, the statute of limitations has run and this Court should dismiss Shahmaleki s complaint. The amended complaint also does not relate back to the original complaint. An amendment to change or add a party must meet the requirements listed under 15(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure for it relate back. These requirements are 1) the amended claim must arise out of the conduct, transaction, or occurrence set out in the original pleading, 2) sufficient notice must be provided to the new parties, and 3) the new defendants must have known or should have known that the action would be brought against them, but for a mistake concerning the proper party s identity. In this case, the Defendants do not dispute the first two requirements, but Shahmaleki has not shown his amended
  • 21. Inventory Control And Its Effect On The Performance Of The... An inventory management system, inventory control, and inventory accuracy are paramount to a mass production manufacturing facility, especially when multiple part types and multiple product types are being produced. Raw component inventory can account for millions of dollars of an organizations cash, which is not contributing to profitability until converted to a product and sold. Therefore, it is essential for an organization to have an inventorymanagement system and an inventory control process to account for the value associated with each part and ultimately to return value to the operation. Inventory inaccuracy can negatively impact the performance of the production control system (Chan Wang, 2014). It is difficult to account for raw materials at every stage of the manufacturing process with complete accuracy, thus, an error between the actual inventory level and the supply chain management systems record of inventories cannot be completely avoided. However, when an inaccuracy exists in the raw materials inventory it creates a negative effect on the material requirement planning (MRP) systems. The inaccuracy of the material requirement planning systems has a negative impact on the performance of production planning and scheduling, which contributes to a less than optimal production output, potentially disappointing customers with lack of manufactured goods. A traditional inventory management system assumes that the raw material stock in the organizations

In other terms, the idea of otherness is mainly used for sociologically based analyses of how majority and minority identities are constructed. According to The Strangerby Albert Camus and The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud, both authors inscribe the idea of othering in their pieces of literature unintentionally. The protagonists of both novels come from distinct backgrounds and therefore, we witness a cultural clash amongst the protagonist s beliefs and the societies they live in. Both protagonists gave up on finding the purpose to their lives and began living animalistically thinking primitively instead of cognitively. The effects of social pressure and othering also force the protagonists to live by the existential philosophy which means they lack a sense of emotion and interaction amongst other individuals. Meursault and Harun both state that they feel little to any remorse after killing an innocent individual. The explanation for this is because they have the mentality that shit just happens and there does not necessarily need to be a reason for it. The philosophy of othering has extremely negative effects on society and the people in it. It forces the idea of one group being better than the other. The sense of nationalism tied with othering causes others to feel as though they do not belong or causes people to have too much pride in themselves. We see being a part of either part if the spectrum only leads to chaos and

The process of cloning by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) is a process in which a donor somatic cell with the already genetically modified nucleus and the ability to produce RNAi molecules was taken from a cow and a enucleated metaphase II egg cell from another cow is fused with it. The cells are collected from the donors and cultured in vitro. The somatic donor cell will not express genes as it can be made to return to a dormant or embryonic state by the process of depriving it of nutrients. The nutrient deprived somatic cell containing the nucleus will stop dividing where gene knockdown has already taken place to reduce the effect of the BLG protein and can now be used to fuse with the enucleated egg cell. The donor somatic cell and the membrane of the egg cell are fused together by a mild electric pulse and a certain amount of time is needed between the first and second electric pulses to allow time for the yet unknown factors in the cytoplasm to activate the chromatin. The nucleus of the somatic cell is reprogrammed by the enucleated egg cell. This time in vitro also allows time for the embryos to develop into a blastocyst. This is one of the many questions Immanuel Kant answers in, The Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals . Kant discusses many questions with arguable answers, which explains why he is one of the most controversial philosophers still today. Throughout Kant s work, multiple ideas are considered, but the Categorical Imperativeis one of the most prevalent. Though this concept is extremely dense, the Categorical Imperative is the law of freedom that grounds pure ethics of the metaphysics of ethics. Categorical imperatives are the basis of moralitybecause they provoke pure reasons for every human beings actions. On the other hand, there are few to none examples of a Categorical Imperative, because as Kant would believe, they have to be actions that are good in themselves completely. To arrive at the Categorical Imperative, Kant starts off by explaining that an action is good without qualification if done from duty and not primarily from inclination, or ulterior motives. This, in a more simplified manner, means an action is good if it was the right thing to do and a person did it for the sake of duty and not because of anything else, like instincts or feelings. Kant believes there are very few people in this world that can actually live up to the standard of duty. From this point, Kant states that moral worth is determined by the rule or principle by which an action has been decided, not in the purpose to be attained by it. This statement goes back to the difference of means versus ends; is a person s action based on the mean or is it based on ends? After Kant arrives at this, he then affirms that duty is the reverence for the law. The difference between reason and will is established at this point. Reason, or thought, can be described as theoretical or pure reason, or it can be described as practical reason. Kant describes theoretical reason as determining a given concept, but practical reason is idea of making the concept actual. Will, on the other side, can be broken down to either the holy will or empirically mixed

In his principle work on civilian military relations, The Soldier and the State, he puts forward a dichotomy of objective and subjective civilian control over the military, the former of which represents simple voluntary and autonomous subservience to the objectives of the civilian sphere, while the latter indicates a transmutation, and an integral weakening and altering of the military readiness in an attempt to ensure the primacy of civilian power. Thus, Military Professionalism as autonomous subservience fulfills the role of the optimal relation of military and state by Huntington s

Sweden s wasteto energy program generates about twenty percent of the country s district heating. This also generates electricity for a quarter million homes. This experiment actually involved the Ludovico Technique, a form of aversion therapy where the participator watches film of his antisocial behavior and presumably enjoys it, but afterwards is given a drug to make him feel sick while he watches the same film. This leads the participant to associate the film with the negative feeling in the stomach, and presumably would lead to him associating the antisocial behavior with the bad feeling. In the movie, Alexgoes through this procedure, watching video of violence and rape, and is later shown to be incapable of assaulting a man who belittles him and is violently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film provides a good example for how classical conditioning is used in the world. Skinner s theories of behaviorism are introduced in many of the scenes throughout the movie. According to Skinner, acquisition and retention of new behaviors would elicit rewards. Pavlov s theory of classical conditioning involves a stimulus and a response that are connected (Myers, 2013). Using the injection, classical conditioning was used to make Alex feel ill every time he watched the films. Thus, every time Alex felt the urge to be violent he would associate those feelings with physical illness and respond by not responding and lashing out. According to Thorndike s Law of Effect, we only repeat behaviors that provide us with a desired effect. Since violence was no longer a behavior that gave him pleasure, he could no longer obtain the same gratification as before. Alex extinguished his behaviors because they were no longer
  • 42. Julian Postage Stamp Why Doesn t Percy L. Julian have a Stamp Already? I strongly believe that Percy L. Julian deserves a United States postage stamp. He was quite intelligent, educated, and hard working, and helpful chemist. He was the first black chemist elected to the National Academy of the Sciences. This is one of the reasons I strongly believe he deserves a United States postage stamp. Julian never had a chance at a completely normal education but he became a very smart individual. When Julian had finished the eighth grade he couldn t go to high school because at that time there were no high schools open to black students. Instead, he went to Depauw University. When he went to the University he needed to also take high school level classes

Ask for studs in the lip to be placed in a neutral space along the lower gum line. This will prevent damage around the mouth area. Tongue piercing needs to be angled such that they do not catch in the palate on the roof of your mouth or the sublingual web along the bottom. Acrylic rather than metal jewellery is considered safest for the mouth region. This is because metal can easily chip teeth and cause injuries. According to the Association of Professional Piercers, when properly performed, an oral piercing procedure will last only for a few seconds and involve no bloodshed or swelling. People with oral piercings are advised not to share plates and other eating utensils. Though the mouth is exposed to a variety of germs, the saliva has several antimicrobial factors that can easily defend you against these pathogens. However, if you go to an unsafe clinic or you default on your aftercare, there can be severe complications. Pain and bleeding, infections, dental and heart problems, injury due to swallowing the jewelery, drooling, and bad breath are some of the risks. The American Dental Association is against oral piercing and deems it a public health hazard. Some gruesome photographs only intensify the
  • 44. Analysis Of A Harbor In Moonlight Claude Joseph Vernet is a very largely known French artist from the early 1700 s. He has been known to be one of the best landscape painters of all time. Vernet paints from a different perspective than many artists and his art leaves a lasting impact on viewers minds. Many of his paintings are famous including A Harbor in Moonlight which is located at the St. Louis Art Museum. A Harbor in Moonlight stood out as a very interesting piece. What initially caught my eye was the different lighting and shades of every color in this painting. My first reaction was a sense of calmness and relief. There are many reasons that I got the initial first feelings that I did. The biggest reason is the arrangements of lighting. Vernet does a good job of incorporating lighting into every part of this piece. I feel that the lighting plays the biggest role in this artwork because without it, it is very dull and dark. The result of a dull and dark painting would not be anywhere near the same result as the lighting. It almost seems like the lighting is meant to say something or symbolize something. Just by looking at it, each light has a different role and level of importance in the picture. The main sources of light that stood out to me were the fire, moon, lighthouse, and even the reflection of light on the surface of the water. All of them provide a different sense of feeling in this scene. The fire gives me a feeling of security and safety, because people gather around a fire and come

Implementation Plan For A Different Hospital Process Implementation Plan The implementation process is a crucial part to piloting a different hospital process, therefore, a well planned and thought out implementation plan is imperative to the project success (Draft, 2004). It is essential the implementation plan utilizes a project management process, including project initiation, planning and execution phases (Chow, Woodford Lambe, 2013) (Appendix G). Project Initiation (January August, 2017) The first phase will designate an RD as project leader for this MST pilot. Initially, the RD will review the current malnutrition research and literature as well as assess the outlined problem. Once a need is established, the RD will review the FMEA to assess risks associated with this project,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Malnutrition Steering Committee will analyze risks and benefits of implementing a pilot project within NYGH. Once all preliminary planning is complete, the Malnutrition Steering Committee will formally present the current screening analysis and project plan to Senior Leadership, including data collection, efficiency, and cost benefit analysis. The Committee will illustrate how this change aligns with the hospital s strategic plan by highlighting its potential to decrease the length of stay, improving patient nutritional status and support inter professional patient family centered care and innovation initiatives. The Committee will also present to staff on both units the current Canadian malnutrition research, highlight new ways of detecting malnutrition, one being the new MST, and opportunities this change will present. Communicating the urgency to change the tool, would promote buy in from the senior leadership team as well as unit staff members (Senior and Swailes, 2010). Once the project is approved by Senior Leadership, the Malnutrition Steering Committee will work with the IT manager to design and implement the changes to the current screening tool within the EMR. The IT Manager will remove the current nutrition screening tool

  • 47. Children Who Suffer From Neglect Essay Every year there are millions of children who suffer from an epidemic of child abuse and neglect at the hands of the very people who they trust to love them and care for them. According to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2011), child neglect accounted for 78.3% of all reported cases of maltreatment. These statistics make neglectthe most common type of child maltreatment, however it is often under recognized. The Department of Health (1999) refers to neglect as the persistent failure to meet a child s basic physical and/or psychological needs, likely to result in the serious impairment of the child s health or development. Physical, psychological, medical, educational, and mental health, are the five major types of neglect identified by famed psychologist Erik Erikson. Many children who suffer from neglect experience detrimental physical and psychological consequences including, poor mental and emotional health, cognitive difficulties, poor hygiene, hunger, inadequate language skills, illness, and even death. Children who are young, irritable, disabled, or premature are more susceptible to neglect. In the article Signs, Symptoms and Risk Factors: Health Visitors Perspectives of Child Neglect , Helen Herron David Lewin and conducted a research study based on their expertise in the field of child protection, the perceptions of experienced health visitors with respect to 45 signs, symptoms and risk factors of child neglect derived from the literature (2007).
  • 48. Examples Of Deterrence Justification Deterrence justification is the reasoning of punishing criminals in order to set an example and decrease the crime rate. A common punishment that is defensible under deterrence justification is the death penalty. According to the data on the Executions and Murder Rate graph, there is a correlation between the number of executions that were carried out and the murder rate over a rate of fifty years. However, the data of the graph exhibited other variables (confounding variables) that could have affected the initial two. The confounding variables that affect these two variables include policy changes made to reduce crime, the criminal landscape, the number of states that allow the death penalty, and how many are actually carried out. The deterrence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Capital punishment comes at a hefty price. A lot of tax dollars go to this supposed justified deterrence that is intended to reduce the rate of murder and crime. The money could be put to better use, such as reforming the criminal justice system and put funding into low income neighborhoods and programs for at risk youths. These would be better alternatives to the death penalty. Another point is the level effectiveness of the death penalty. The data on the Executions and Murder Rate graph shows that even though the murder rate rose to an all time high when there was little to no executions between the years of 1965 to 1980, it did not start to gradually decline until around 1995, about fifteen years after the number of executions started to decrease. A lot of time and money is being used in capital punishment without fast enough results. According to the data on the Executions and Murder Rate per State, 2010 section, the majority of states in this country either have outlawed capital punishment or not had any executions that year. States, such as North Dakota, has no capital punishment and less than 2 (per 100,000) murder rate, while Arizona has the death penalty and a murder rate of more than 6 (per
  • 49. The Beginning of Our Annual Beach Journeys I can remember the day clearly as if it were yesterday. The sand covering my feet was shining brightly with resilient sunlight. The tides crashed gently against the sand as if caressing it. The wind carried on casually; at times I felt no breeze at all, as if the wind itself stopped for a second to enjoy the relaxing scene. This day marked the beginning of our annual familybeach journeys. I was 9 years old and was overly obsessed with an old raggedy purse made out of old pillow cases and bed sheets. My mom was a seamstress and I considered myself very lucky growing up being able to watch her work. Months prior to our summer trip, for Christmas, I received a pink kid s mini sewing machine. I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling inside me as I opened my gift. The patchwork on the purse was a display of creativity on my first fashion accessory. Psychologically, this item brought to me so much comfort just like my baby brother who was emotionally attached to his smelly, old blankey. It was the summer of 1996, when we arrived at Malaquite Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. There were many other families sitting at the beach sharing the warm summer day. We began to set up our area by creating some shade with a wide, heavy beach canopy. My family came prepared with large coolers full of cold waters and sodas. My sisters and I began applying plenty of sunblock, meanwhile, my dad and brother in laws fired up the pit. There is nothing more enjoyable than playing with Frisbee s at the
