 Leadership and leadership development do not happen in
isolation.
 Leadership development require community, connection and
commitment.
 Leaders need to engage in a leadership journey with other
leaders who can help equip and encourage you in your own
growth as a leader.
 RCA Leadership Collaboratives are gathering of 8 – 12 leaders
who have the desire and commitment to grow as spiritual
leaders, and use their ministry context as an environment for
expanding their leadership capacity.

In-Ministry Formation – hands-on ministry within the context
of the local church as the principal location for leadership
development.
Competency-Based Equipping – providing tools and skills to
be more effective in one’s ministry call and context.
Missional Context – a vision of the church as a covenant
community in mission, raising up workers for the harvest.
Lifelong Learning – cultivating and growing one’s leadership
takes a commitment that lasts a lifetime.
LEADERSHIP COLLABORATIVE CONTENT
Year 1: Personal Leadership
 Leading from the inside out, developing the capacity to lead
oneself before leading others.
 At the heart of leadership is how a leader is able to lead their
own life and leadership personally.
 Every leader must first learn to lead themselves before they
can lead others.
 Personal leadership focuses on areas of spirituality,
obedience, life focus, physicality, and personal growth.
Year 2: Organizational Leadership
Providing the competencies and skills required of effective
leaders. Organizational leadership focuses on areas of:
• Trust
• Visionizing and vision casting
• Strategic Discernment and Direction
• Team Building/People Development
• Embracing Change
• Decision Making
• Culture, Innovation and Risk
• Execution
• Redemptive Conflict and Confrontation
Year 3: Reproductive Leadership
 Helping leaders develop more leaders, not just followers
 Reproducing leadership focuses on areas of content and
character development, growing competencies, systems
thinking, coaching, and creating community.
Becoming part of a Leadership Collaborative provides a
place for regular gathering with other leaders,
opportunities for learning and growth in community, and
connecting monthly with peer coaching around identified
topics that will help you to think more deeply about
leadership and grow more effectively as a leader.

Rca leadership collaboratives

  • 2.  Leadership and leadership development do not happen in isolation.  Leadership development require community, connection and commitment.  Leaders need to engage in a leadership journey with other leaders who can help equip and encourage you in your own growth as a leader.  RCA Leadership Collaboratives are gathering of 8 – 12 leaders who have the desire and commitment to grow as spiritual leaders, and use their ministry context as an environment for expanding their leadership capacity.
  • 4. Learning Community Leadership Collaborative Focused primarily on congregational transformation. Personal leadership development is secondary. Focused primarily on personal leadership development. Congregational transformation is secondary. Two or more participants from an individual church One participant from an individual church Church makes commitment to participate Leader makes commitment to participate and can continue in group even if they change churches Catalytic coaching (in most cases) Peer coaching (in most cases)

  • 8. In-Ministry Formation – hands-on ministry within the context of the local church as the principal location for leadership development. Competency-Based Equipping – providing tools and skills to be more effective in one’s ministry call and context. Missional Context – a vision of the church as a covenant community in mission, raising up workers for the harvest. Lifelong Learning – cultivating and growing one’s leadership takes a commitment that lasts a lifetime.

Year 1: Personal Leadership  Leading from the inside out, developing the capacity to lead oneself before leading others.  At the heart of leadership is how a leader is able to lead their own life and leadership personally.  Every leader must first learn to lead themselves before they can lead others.  Personal leadership focuses on areas of spirituality, obedience, life focus, physicality, and personal growth.
  • 11. Year 2: Organizational Leadership Providing the competencies and skills required of effective leaders. Organizational leadership focuses on areas of: • Trust • Visionizing and vision casting • Strategic Discernment and Direction • Team Building/People Development • Embracing Change • Decision Making • Culture, Innovation and Risk • Execution • Redemptive Conflict and Confrontation
  • 12. Year 3: Reproductive Leadership  Helping leaders develop more leaders, not just followers  Reproducing leadership focuses on areas of content and character development, growing competencies, systems thinking, coaching, and creating community.
  • 13. Becoming part of a Leadership Collaborative provides a place for regular gathering with other leaders, opportunities for learning and growth in community, and connecting monthly with peer coaching around identified topics that will help you to think more deeply about leadership and grow more effectively as a leader.
