WHAT IS LEADERSHIP?
"Leadership is the ability to take an average team of
individuals and transform them into superstars. The best
leader is the one who inspires his workers to achieve
greatness each and every day."
– Jonas Falk, CEO, OrganicLife
"Leadership is having a vision, sharing that vision and
inspiring others to support your vision while creating their
own."
– Mindy Gibbins-Klein, founder, REAL Thought Leaders
IT’S LIKE BEING A CONDUCTOR
IT’S HAVING A VISION
AUTHORITY AND INFLUENCE
INFLUENCE IS…
THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
The 5 Love Language
WHY GOOD LEADERS
MAKE YOU FEEL SAFE
The best organizations foster trust and
cooperation because their leaders build a
Circle of Safety. This safe culture leads to
stable, adaptive, confident teams, where
everyone feels they belong. – Simon Sinek
Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER
FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all
concerned?
Lewin's Leadership Styles
Autocratic leaders
- Make decisions without consulting their team members.
- Appropriate when you need to make decisions quickly.
BUT
- However, this style can be demoralizing, and it can lead to
high levels of absenteeism and staff turnover.
Lewin's Leadership Styles
Democratic leaders
- Make the final decisions, but they include team members
in the decision-making process.
- Encourage creativity, and people are often highly engaged
in projects and decisions.
BUT
- This is not always an effective style to use, though, when
you need to make a quick decision.
Lewin's Leadership Styles
Laissez-faire
- Team members a lot of freedom in how they do their
work, and how they set their deadlines.
- They provide support with resources and advice if
needed, but otherwise they don't get involved.
BUT
- Can be damaging if team members don't manage their
time well, or if they don't have the knowledge, skills, or
self motivation to do their work effectively.
