The audience enjoyed the use of both stop frame and real footage in the video, finding it interesting and engaging. They liked the comic element of the singing mouths. The music matched the upbeat visuals. A variety of shots were used but more could have been used for the guitarist to sustain interest towards the end. The stop frame animation on the beat was convincing. Feedback indicates closer shots and a wider variety of guitarist shots could improve the video.
2. That the campervan was real and on a real journey. The stop frame and the real footage being used together. What the audience thought... What is particularly convincing in the music video? The stop frame animation being on the beat. The relationship between the real footage and the stop frame. The abstract story of the VW with the story of the guitar player, both on ‘journeys’. Transitions being on the beat and the close ups of the mouth singing.
3. The audience liked the use of both stop frame and real time footage, this worked and created a more interesting engaging video. It was light hearted and that the audience liked the comic element of the mouths signing along with the music. What have I learnt? The audience reaction was mainly good, positive and interested. The use of close ups, as stated by Goodwin, did work and made the whole video more personal and involving. The campervan itself was an important part of drawing in the viewer and making the music video more cheerful and fun.
4. Yes! The music is fun and upbeat and works well with the music video. Did the genre/style of the music seem to match the visuals? What the audience thought... The song is a bit obscure and it is hard the tell quite what is being said ... Well this is the same as in the music video the jumping between stop frame and the car, the guitar player and the singing mouths it is hard to keep track of but this makes it more playful. Yes the upbeat music worked well with the upbeat visuals.
5. Yes lots of different angles used. A wider variety of shots could have been used. What the audience thought... Yes as they obscured the guitarist. Good variety of shots Was the use of camera angles and editing successful? It documented the cars journey well. Yes the black and white fitted well as a contrast to the rest of the video. Yes – variety for stop frame No – the guitar did not always sync.
6. The stop frame has a wider variety of angles than the real footage. This I am pleased with as it took a very long time. The editing stage took the longest so I hoped that it looked good to the audience. What I learnt? The black and white contrasted well with the normal colour and the colourisation looked good and offered an element of fun which matched the genre of the video. The footage of the guitar player could have used more angles. Maybe more low and high angles and maybe different setting to make it more interesting.
7. By having stop frame of the car and the footage of the guitarist. Yes the VW going on the journey was interesting. What the audience thought... Did the video sustain your interest throughout? Yes – cute idea. Following the story of the VW. It was interesting and I wanted to know what happened next in the video. Towards the end of the video there was to much stop frame.
8. If there had been a wider variety of shots for the guitarist footage then it may have been more interesting towards the end. The video on the whole did sustain the interests of people watching and was involving for them. What I learnt? The stop frame may have needed more footage to break it up. However we were unwilling to do this because it would have made the stop frame less smooth. It worked well having two different stories being shown (VW and guitarist), this sustained the interest of people long than if it had been one or the other.
9. Use different shot transitions. Different angles of the guitarist. What the audience thought... Better skill when doing the stop frame. What would you change about the video? More close ups. A wider variety of shots e.g. high / low. More close ups of the car moving
10. Most people only had small adjustments to make. The stop frame needed to have more precision, but in the time limit this was not possible. What I learnt? More transitions, but only where necessary, the only reason there are very few is because it did not work well with the stop frame, making less smooth and characteristically cheap. A wider variety of shots needed to be used mainly with the guitarist, for example, worms eye view and tilt shots
