2. Location - House Parties
We aim to use a variety of locations for our production, the reason for this is so
that we can have a range of different shots to use so the video doesn’t appear
boring.
One of the locations we aim to use is a house party setting, we will be filming this
ourselves on the night, it will be a realistic setting and will suit the genre of dance
because of the energetic movements and partying that will be included in the
shots. We aim to film these shots towards the end of October/beginning of
November 2013, we will be using the Sony HDV 1000e camera as this captures
high quality images and the location will be dark with flashing lights we need to
make sure we capture good images for the video to be of a good standard.
3. Location - Brighton
Another location that we aim to use is Brighton Pier, we have chosen this location
because it fits the typical stereotype of a dance music video with its bright lights
and enticing rides. We think that the nature of the rides and the quality of the
camera will enable us to capture high quality shots that will make our end product
look more successful. The fact that will aim to film at night will enhance the effect
of the surrounding bright lights, the reason we want to film at night is because we
think that bright lights at night time is a suitable scene for a dance music video.
We have emailed Brighton for permission to film on the pier and they have said
that we can, we had arranged a date during the October 2013 half term holidays
but unfortunately due to weather we were unable to travel and film, we are
currently in the process of arranging another date to carry out the filming.
4. Location - Limo
We have filmed footage inside a limo to use in our music
video, we think this would be good to include in our video
as it emphasises the celebration/party theme which we
are trying to create for our music video.
The occasion was for one of our group member’s birthday
so it was the ideal situation to film in and didn’t require
any permission from anyone else in order to do so.
There will only be a small amount of footage from the
Limo used in the video because we don’t want to overuse
the same scenery.
Location - Funfair
We hope to include footage of a recent day at the
funfair, we feel this is something that is essential for our
video because similarly to Brighton pier there are rides
and when filmed at night can bring out the atmosphere
we want to create for our video. Also, as one vibrant
colours and bright flashing lights are one of the
conventions for a pop video, we can include them in our
footage which will ensure we are covering a key
convention of the video.
Funfairs are a place where people are considered to
enjoy themselves and be happy, this is the impression we
5. Equipment
The basic essential equipment that we will need to use is the camera, tripod and
Apple Mac + software (for editing), other equipment could include props such as:
Sparklers
Flares
Empty alcohol bottles (to stage the drinking of alcohol)
Appropriate clothing for dance genre.
As we want to make our video look as realistic and natural as possible we don’t
want to over-use props so instead we are choosing to limit the number of props
we use.
This is an example of
the camera we will be
using to film
We aim to include
sparklers in our music
video
6. Personnel organisation
There are four members of our group – Charlie, Cameron, Lauren and Shondell.
We will all be involved in the filming and performing of the video, in addition to ourselves being
in the video we will also have friends and acquaintances appearing to make the content of the
shots look more realistic.
This is the breakdown of what the role of the characters will be in the video:
Lauren: One of the main focuses of the video acting as a party goer who enjoys the night life going to
parties and having fun with friends.
Shondell: Another main focus of the video for similar reasons, she also likes partying and having fun with
friends going out whose actions will accompany the dance track music.
Cameron: Also present in some scenes of the music video, but not as much as Shondell and Lauren.
When presented, Cameron is also seen to enjoy the nightlife and party atmosphere where present.
Charlie: Similarly to Cameron, Charlie is only present at selected points of the video; he is also seen
however in these very few scenes to also enjoy the nightlife, this will further accompany the audio and
dance track feeling to add a sense of euphoria to the audience.
Friends and acquaintances: Acting as extras in our dance track video for added effect, to further provoke a
sense of euphoria which the audience will want to aspire to.
We will all be taking part in an equal amount of filming so that we can all gain the ability to film
to a high standard and receive equal marks for the task.
Also, we will all be attending the different locations that we are filming at to ensure that
everyone knows what they are doing and everyone can be involved in the performing and
filming of the music video.
