Question 3: What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute Your Media Product And Why?
1. First you need to outline the stages of production that your product would go through?
2. You need to research into magazine/film distributors:Places such as WHSMITH, WATERSTONES, HMV, & Local Supermarkets; for instance, TESCO, SAINSBURYS,MORRISONS & ASDA are all willing stores to sell my magazine. This will help massively as these are all well known stores which will attract the custom my magazine needs and it will introduce new consumers to my genre style. Although WaterStones, HMV & WHSmith are all more popular within selling other magazines rather than local supermarkets. This means they sell other magazines which situate within my genre.
My Product!!All of the shops listed on the previous page all attract customers from my target audience, they know they very well however WHSmith, WaterStones and HMV are much more involved with my age group. This is because they are young, people who are either student s or people who have graduated from university. When I am distributing my product, this will benefit me very well as they are already well know to the places in which will sell my product so this will attract the target audience as well as other people as it may intrigue other students etc. My product is very different to other magazine, especially R’n’B ones, this is because I have included everything someone within my target audience would want to know and read. This is a positive side to my magazine as they will be more willing to buy my magazine monthly; creating a positive affect to the magazine and themselves. My company has a really good reputation as its always satisfies want there customers want. This is very important to keep the attraction of customers and keep them buying from us. My product is more niche compared to some other music magazines however it is very well known and popular to keep the numbers going up etc.
R’n’B MagazineMy magazine will be advertised through billboards, leaflets, televisions adverts, other magazines and newspapers. Other magazines are also advertised like this so I want to keep my magazine professional like others. However they too can be sold in similar places to where mine will be.
Product Distribution! My magazines will be put into shops for instance; Waterstones, HMV, WHSmith and many local supermarkets. Although because of the rise of the internet and 2.0, It will also be uploaded onto the internet in order for customers to subscribe to getting it monthly, which will be then posted to them. This will work out cheaper for them and they can rely on it more if they are highly interested in it.
