The class will be randomly assigned a team of 3 or more students. Within a team, each team member will select 1 work of art from an approved professional art gallery. The team will be creating a PowerPoint with images of each of these art objects.

The assignment can be completed by merging the individual team members’ PowerPoints together through the TEAM GALLERY CRITICAL REVIEW GROUPS tab. Under this tab and your selected group, you will see GROUP TOOLS including:
· SEND EMAIL (allows you all to communicate with your group only through eCampus)
· FILE EXCHANGE (allows you to upload your partial PowerPoint for others to add to)
· GROUP TASKS (allows each of you to set tasks and deadlines for the group).
Each student will need to complete the following three levels of discussion for their selected piece: Description, Analysis and Interpretation.
As part of the Interpretation, each student will need to write a brief comparison/contrast between their selected artwork and at least one other team member’s selected artwork.

OVERVIEW
For this final project you will research two (2) contemporary artists who deal with the theme of
identity. In addition, you will reflect upon and propose an imagined artwork that relates to your own
concept of identity. (Do not worry if you are not artistically inclined, you are NOT expected to create an
actual finished art piece; it is merely a proposal for something you imagine.). The final project will be
presented as a well-researched PowerPoint presentation. Scholarly research and a Works Cited
page/slide are important components of this project.
HOW TO PREPARE

2. Read/review the following from the textbook: Chapter 4.9 (The Body in Art) and 4.10 (Identity, Race, &
Gender in Art); pp. 189 (grey box); 357-359
ARTIST RESEARCH
1. Choose two (2) artists from the list on page three of these instructions. Research your
chosen artists in relation to their interest in a theme of “Identity”.
2. You must use at least three different types of sources in your research project: The artwork
itself will be one source – the most important primary source. Therefore, you must research and
find at least two (2) other types of sources (interview with the artists, scholarly articles, books,
museum website etc.) to use in your study. Most will need to exceed this minimum for a robust
presentation. See page 189 of your textbook for a list of possible primary and secondary sources.
Further resources on how to get started are found in the subheading “Resources” below. You can
find many sources in the library or in one of the library’s databases.
3. Your selection of artists should be intentional and surround a specific sub-topic of identity.
Your research should not focus on identity in only a broad and general way. Clearly identify the sub-
topic that relates to your artists. For example, you may find artists that are similarly interested in
any of the following sub-topics below:
the fluidity of identity
deconstructing cultural, social, or political difference
feminist critique
diversity or artists who create work that explores related cultures, groups, or societies
You may consider choosing artists that work in the same medium (for example, performance
art, painting, or installation) and how that material choice imparts meaning to their work.

Audience research
The focus group of 6 females provided feedback on magazine design elements. For the cover, they wanted to see a happy female artist's image, with her clothing and makeup in color, and chatty informal language. The contents page should have 3 artist images with the main cover artist largest, and about half text with article previews. The double page article should feature a large poster-sized image of the artist, plus a smaller performance photo, and be an informal celebrity interview with equal parts images and text.

The assignment can be completed by merging the individual team members’ PowerPoints together through the TEAM GALLERY CRITICAL REVIEW GROUPS tab. Under this tab and your selected group, you will see GROUP TOOLS including:

· FILE EXCHANGE (allows you to upload your partial PowerPoint for others to add to)

OVERVIEW
For this final project you will research two (2) contemporary artists who deal with the theme of
identity. In addition, you will reflect upon and propose an imagined artwork that relates to your own
concept of identity. (Do not worry if you are not artistically inclined, you are NOT expected to create an
actual finished art piece; it is merely a proposal for something you imagine.). The final project will be
presented as a well-researched PowerPoint presentation. Scholarly research and a Works Cited
page/slide are important components of this project.
HOW TO PREPARE

2. Read/review the following from the textbook: Chapter 4.9 (The Body in Art) and 4.10 (Identity, Race, &
Gender in Art); pp. 189 (grey box); 357-359
ARTIST RESEARCH
1. Choose two (2) artists from the list on page three of these instructions. Research your
chosen artists in relation to their interest in a theme of “Identity”.
2. You must use at least three different types of sources in your research project: The artwork
itself will be one source – the most important primary source. Therefore, you must research and
find at least two (2) other types of sources (interview with the artists, scholarly articles, books,
museum website etc.) to use in your study. Most will need to exceed this minimum for a robust
presentation. See page 189 of your textbook for a list of possible primary and secondary sources.
Further resources on how to get started are found in the subheading “Resources” below. You can
find many sources in the library or in one of the library’s databases.
3. Your selection of artists should be intentional and surround a specific sub-topic of identity.
Your research should not focus on identity in only a broad and general way. Clearly identify the sub-
topic that relates to your artists. For example, you may find artists that are similarly interested in
any of the following sub-topics below:
the fluidity of identity
deconstructing cultural, social, or political difference
feminist critique
diversity or artists who create work that explores related cultures, groups, or societies
You may consider choosing artists that work in the same medium (for example, performance

Surveying: Object Principles & Types of Surveying; Site Plans, Plans & Maps; Scales & Unit of different Measurements.
Linear Measurements: Instruments used. Linear Measurement by Tape, Ranging out Survey Lines and overcoming Obstructions; Measurements on sloping ground; Tape corrections, conventional symbols. Angular Measurements: Instruments used; Introduction to Compass Surveying, Bearings and Longitude & Latitude of a Line, Introduction to total station.
Levelling: Instrument used Object of levelling, Methods of levelling in brief, and Contour maps.

Buildings: Selection of site for Buildings, Layout of Building Plan, Types of buildings, Plinth area, carpet area, floor space index, Introduction to building byelaws, concept of sun light & ventilation. Transportation: Introduction to Transportation Engineering; Traffic and Road Safety: Types and Characteristics of Various Modes of Transportation; Various Road Traffic Signs, Causes of Accidents and Road Safety Measures.

Environmental Engineering: Environmental Pollution, Environmental Acts and Regulations, Functional Concepts of Ecology, Basics of Species, Biodiversity, Ecosystem, Hydrological Cycle; Chemical Cycles: Carbon, Nitrogen & Phosphorus; Energy Flow in Ecosystems.

The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).

Research details Full name of the artist Birthdate and place Education background 3 interesting facts (can be art related but they don’t have to be) The style the artist worked in, ex: impressionism, dada, pop art, etc Three famous works of art, the location of the artwork, the medium of the artwork and a photo of the artwork
- 4. Presentation details Your presentation needs to be 7 slides minimum It needs to have the information required It should have interesting backgrounds or images that relate to their style The second to last slide needs to be the works sited The last page needs to have the group members names and what they did for the project
- 5. Poster details You need to create a poster about your artist. Think about their style, how can you incorporate their style into the poster? Your poster must include: their name birthdate the 3 interesting facts and 4 examples of their work.
