LOOKING BACK AT YOUR
PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO
YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN
THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO
THE FULL PRODUCT?
Question 7
Through doing our preliminary exercise task I learnt how to edit a film,
we edited the film on final express and learnt how to cut shots. Then also
we learnt how to keep continuity in the film, so the film flowed along and
all fitted together. This prepared us for when we created the first
2minutes of our actual film as we knew what to do to edit our film then
also remain continuity throughout. Also during this exercise we learnt
about the 180 degree line this helps to keep continuity also so then the
camera is not flipping from different sides.
WHAT IMPROVED?
I think with our film we improved editing skills, as we had more practice with
this so it made it easier to edit the film. Also in our film we used a bigger
variety of camera shots to help the film seem more interesting as for example
we used a lot of mid shots and close ups of characters faces to make the film
more appealing to our audience. Also I think our skills with using the camera
improved as during the preliminary exercise at first we were unsure how to
work the camera but when it came round to making our film we were more
used to using it which helped get each shot correct.
DIFFERENT METHODS
We used many different shots and editing techniques in our film
compared to our preliminary exercise. For example we used a basic
range of shots in our preliminary exercise whereas in our film we
tried to expand on this. Also we added extra editing techniques in our
film such as fade in fade out to try and make the film more interesting
for our target audience to watch.
