INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE
YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND
WHY?

2. The first possible media institution that may distribute our film, ‘The
entertainer’, is Warner Bros. Warner bros is an American producer of film,
television, and music entertainment. It is a major film studios which is a
subsidiary of Time Warner.

3. This institution would be able produce the film to a high standard as they are
able to provide a large budget unlike some independent companies. The
content of the film would be effected if a mainstream institution such as
warner bros were to produce it. These content changes could include factors
such as actors that feature within the film as they would be able to employ
well-known actors and this may lead to our film opening up to a wider
audience.

4. Using a company such as warner bros to distribute our film would help us to
reach a large audience because they have a large budget which means
they will be able to afford to distribute the film on many media platforms. This
could result in the film being successful at reaching the target audience and
other people too.

5. Warner bros also has the experience when distributing horror films as an
example of a horror film that warner bros has distributed is ‘Stephen king’s IT’.
This film is similar to the one we have created as it has a similar storyline which
features a killer clown and children. From research I know that warner bros
was successful when distributing this film that was first aired as a two part
television move 1990. This is because the first part of the movie was watched
in 17.5 million households and the second part was watched in 19.2 million
households. However as the company is so successful they may not be
interested in being involved with our film.

6. ANTHUM PICTURES
The second media institution that we may use to distribute our film is Anthum
Pictures.
Anthum pictures is an independent film company so they will produce the
film very differently to mainstream companies such as warner bros.

7. If we used Anthum pictures to produce our film then we would be working
from a small budget which may result in the quality being negatively
effected. The content of the film wouldn’t be affected much as we wouldn’t
still be using similar technology to produce the film and we would be using
actors that aren’t popular with the mainstream audience.

8. Anthum Pictures has had experience when distributing horror films as an example of
a horror film that they distributed is 100 tears. 100 Tears is about a lonely circus clown,
Gurdy, who goes on a killing rampage to seek revenge and after this is done
something inside him snaps and he finds himself unable to stop. This film has a similar
story line to our film as it is about a killer clown who has mental issues. However due to
the film having a low budget of $75,000 and it being distributed by an independent
film company the film had a limited release and isn’t well know by the mainstream
media. This has led to it not reaching a wide audience which it could have achieved
if it had been released by a mainstream company. However I believe that an
independent film company will be more interested in distributing out film which could
lead to us being successful at reaching our target audience.
