LOOKING BACK ON MY
PRELIMINARY TASK?
QUESTION 7
MY COVERS
I have progressed greatly when it comes to my cover. I have learnt what makes a good picture for
my cover photo and what effects to put on it to make it high quality and to fit my magazine well.
I have also progressed when it comes to my eye for design, as my layout on the second magazine
is a lot more professional and neat, opposed to the scruffy and unconventional one I had
beforehand.
I have also learnt how to effectively use normal magazine conventions, such as a Masthead that
stands out from the page, and various Coverlines, that are well placed and also attractive to the
eye, opposed to the ugly fonts, and the bad placement of what I had beforehand. I also now
know how to use Photoshop effectively, utilising all of its applications in order to get the perfect
edge on my magazine that I need to attract my target audience.
PROGRESSION:
MY CONTENTS PAGE
Through the use of studying many contents pages, I got to grip with some of the
conventions I needed to follow in order to create one of a high standard. I Used
layouts that were inspired from other magazines over the course, which helped me with
structure and text placement.
I also learnt how to take photo’s well. Placing the backdrop, what type of shot and
where to place the softboxes. were all learnt through the process of these photos in
order to produce photos of a high quality and a good edge to fit with my target
audience.
