1. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full
product?
Shawaeb
2. My front cover was basic in the
sense that it was plain. I had a
basic masthead and no effect
at all to it, also there weren’t
many tag lines and they were
only on one side, I rectified this
in my main task where I had
tag lines on both sides, and
many at that.
Also I have a barcode which is
vital in making a professional
magazine.
Another thing I have learnt is
how to positon images properly
in my front cover, the prelim
task was very basic and the
images weren’t really
necessary.
I have learnt how to make
an image stand out, also
how to colour in text and
how to use props to my
advantage
I have learnt how to use photoshop in my
advantage, and how to use It to manipulate
images, also how to make text bold and
generally how to make a magazine more
3. I have definitely learnt
how to make a more
professional contents
page, you can see a great
difference between the
two.
Firstly I have learnt how
to crop the background
out using Photoshop,
also I have maximised
the use of photos
efficiently, in my main
magazine I limited it to
one photo to keep a
simplistic and
professional look. I did
not do this in my prelim
task and that’s why
there’s a great
difference.
I have also learnt how
to keep a certain style,
and a more
contemporary style at
that as you can see
the fonts in my main
and prelim task differ.
I have also learnt to use professional
images and how to take them, and
also use images that fit the general
idea of the magazine, my prelim task
shows a picture of the floor.
4. Looking back at my Preliminary task I feel I have
enhanced my knowledge in using Indesign. I
have also learnt more techniques such as
viewing my magazine as it would be shown on
my blog. I have also learnt how to use ‘Da.Font’
and how to find them in InDesign. The most
important thing I’ve learnt is how to make my
magazine look professional and how to make it
appeal to my target audience. Since creating my
college magazine I have got into more depth
when researching magazines. Since the
preliminary task the complexity of my layout has
increased.
Overall my knowledge about software has
improved throughout this project. I have learnt
new techniques and skills that have helped me
create a professional looking magazine
