This is Alan. He is the typical type of person that I
would expect to read my magazine. He enjoys
many genres of music including Metal, Thrash and
especially Rock. He is 28 years old and works as a
sound engineer. His favourite band of all time is
AC/DC and his hero is Axel Rose. He also listens
to bands such as Metallica, Guns n Roses and Led
Zeppelin. The last album he brought was an old
favourite ‘Physical Graffiti’ by Led Zeppelin on
vinyl. He goes to pubs every week to watch
unknown Rock bands play, and is looking foreward
to Rock fest later this year.

3. I attracted my target audience through my cover with
an attractive layout and a color scheme that not only
worked well design wise but also suited the vibrant
yet plain genre of Rock. My cover photo artist, Dan,
has an eccentric expression on his face, which sends
out a ‘Don’t care’ attitude which suits rock perfectly
as there is the saying ‘Sex, Drugs n Rock n Roll’. I
have also attracted my audience with a large and
bright masthead, which is clearly seen and stands out
from the rest of the page, clearly defining what
magazine they are buying. I also had various subtitles
that included insights of the magazine, tempting them
to read it with highlighted sections about other artists,
competitions and various concerts.

4. I addressed my target audience through the use of informal, yet slightly sophisticated
language. The article on my artist peter, addresses the reader as more of a friend than
anything else with words such as ‘Erm’ and describing Peter to ‘Arouse Women’, thus also
adding to eccentric attitude, and the overall vibrant way I address audiences through
informal and slightly humorous speech. I have used this informal tone to address my
audience because I feel that it will give the magazine a more personal impact, and will not
only feel friendly to slightly younger users, but will also have hidden comedic sentences for
older readers, hence describing Peter to ‘arouse women’ would fit in with the comedic and
playful values that rock bands such as AC/DC and Tenacious D frequently use.
