Question 5 How did you attract/address your audience?
When creating my magazine, I used various features to attract my audience These include some of the most basic methods of attracting someone's attention! Bright colours FREE BOLD FONTS Exclusive TOP 50 Bright colours
Use of colours By using a bright colour such as green or yellow makes my magazine eye-catching and therefore attractive this was one of my main modes of address. It is important to stand out in the magazine industry especially in the front cover, as this is the part out on display and its sole job is to make people pick up the issue, because there attracted to the cover. Magazines are placed next to their competitors, so consumers will chose to purchase the most eye- catching magazine. It’s a basic principle of attracting attention, a warning sign is either ‘red’ or ‘yellow’, this is because it’s the most effective few colours of getting peoples attention. Bright colours
The use of superlatives with bold lettering is another technique I used, such as “exclusive” and “FREE” . These help to attract audiences as they feel they will be getting something that no other magazine can offer, people like free things! These are used in other magazines to attract target audiences. E.g. The magazines NME and Kerrang all use such superlatives. Especially on the front cover as this is what persuades most audiences to buy the magazine.
the use of puff’s in my magazine I used a puff as I wanted to help increase audience attraction and urge to buy the magazine. Adding a puff also gives more reasons for consumers to purchase the magazine. Because my magazine is aimed at ‘drum and bass fans’ by adding puff’s such as “Win a trip to Ibiza” (as it’s the country renowned for night clubs) or “Pendulum on tour with Linkin park” (two of the most popular music producers, popular to drum and bass fans) When comparing this to other magazines its visible that all other magazine producers use this as their main mode off address/ attracting attention.
Measuring how well my magazine appeals to my audience? I made a few magazine covers and gave them to a sample of people from my target market, this enabled me to receive feedback on what worked and what didn’t, when attracting there attention. Here is a selection of feedback that I received, which helped me amend changes and increase chances of attracting/addressing my audience.   Good: “the main image, the different font styles, the colours” Bad: “The group in the bottom left (not much meaning), the main title/ masthead (unclear) picture still being there, the masthead is still unclear (colour)”
