3. It is important that when my magazine is on a
newsstand, with lots of other successful
magazines, for it to stand out. I used lots of
codes and conventions in hope that people
will pick up and buy my magazine:
4. I used a bold masthead in a colour that would
typically be used on warning signs, red.
5. A small price is an effective technique, as the reader
does not see it straight away, so they don’t
immediately put it back down and instead get
attracted to what's inside the magazine and therefore
are more willing to pay the price.
6. I also used different size text to show the audience
what features are the most important and the best
to read.
7. A clear colour scheme lets the audience know
that this magazine is neat, organised and shows
that it has been done by a professional company.

8. A free gift / prize for winning something means a
possibility of gaining something as well as the
magazine itself. In my magazine I may a free CD
available to download.
9. My celebrity on the front cover is looking directly
into the camera / audience’s eyes, this makes the
magazine come across as more inviting.
11. Spoke to the audience visually by including a lot of
artists looking directly into the camera, but also
spoke to them verbally in a non-formal way so they
know that the magazine was something for leisure,
not work.
12. Used language that was informative yet friendly.
Informative language are words that are
thought-provoking that also give the reader
some knowledge.
Friendly language is casual and much more laid
back, this gives the reader a relaxed feel.
