The document discusses how the author addressed and attracted their target audience for a hip hop magazine.
Some key points:
1) The design uses a simple color scheme of white, black and yellow to appeal to the moderate, music and gossip-loving audience.
2) The front cover model is dressed in hip hop fashion to represent the genre and attract the fashion-conscious audience.
3) The language, font choices, and front cover image featuring a celebrity in trendy clothing were aimed to directly interest the hip hop fan audience.
2. DESIGN
•
The design of my product is very simple and the layout makes it extremely easy to navigate
around. It has a set colour scheme which works well around my model. The colours White, Black
and Yellow are three colours that would attract my audience as simplicity is very appealing and my
audience are very moderate people that love music and latest gossip.
•
My model is dressed in fashionable and trendy clothing and accessories as this represents the
genre of my magazine which is hip hop because my audience are fashion conscious and like to see
fashionable celebrities on the front cover. This is important for my magazine as 40% of all
magazine purchases are determined by the content and model of the front cover.
•
The selling line and also the ‘Fashion’ and ‘Features’ sections on my magazine will help attract the
audience as this shows them that my magazine is about everything that they enjoy reading about.
3. LANGUAGE AND FONT
•
During the writing and of my magazine I had to keep in mind the people that I would be writing for,
the audience that would be reading my product and what would make them interested n turning to
the next page.
•
The language I used was simple but this is what made it effective as I was going in straight to the
point. Especially in my double page spread where the interview topic was how ‘Blake’ made it to the
top of hip hop, the interview included how he grew up and how he struggled, which is what hip hop
fans like to read about . Someone making the most out of themselves through the music genre of
hip hop.
•
STENSTREET
Scorched earth
My font choices are a mixture of Stenstreet, Scorched Earth and Playbill.
The reason I chose these fonts is because they work well with the genre
of my magazine as hip hop culture goes back to a time where times were
hard, money was low and people were imperfect. And the font
represents imperfection as it is not a perfect font where the letters are
clear such as a plain Ariel font
PLAYBILL
4. MY MODEL
•
My Models appearance is also a key element in attracting an audience as statistics show that 43%
of people that buy magazines, buy them specifically because of the front page, so the image for my
front page had to scream hip hop! This is too attract an audience.
•
My Front image is of ‘Blake’ who is dressed in trendy and fashionable clothing with links in with my
selling line and also the season that it is produced in, my model has a coat on which reflects the
fact that the magazine is a winter edition which would attract the audience as they would see my
model in the fashionable clothing and want to buy it as it has a celebrity with trendy clothing.
