My target audience for Notion is young adults aged 16 – 25.  Predominantly those who are interested in indie/rock music amongst other similar genres.  I feel this is a good target audience for this genre as it is around my own age range and know that it is a popular genre around this. I think this is a wise decision as the best music magazine in Britain is based on indie/rock.
These are a group of pictures I found on google.com. I think these a clear representations of the range of people I am trying to attract with my magazine.
My main image can appeal to both genders. By having a male, obviously, will appeal to a female audience through sexual connotations however the clear success of my model will appeal to a male audience because of a role model effect.  The colouring for my magazine are quite male dominated colours therefore possibly will not appeal to a female. My sell lines I feel appeal to both male and female audiences. The ‘Oasis special’ is one that does not sway more to one side as they are a popular band to both sexes.  The bands I chose to discuss on my magazine are bands that have an audience of both males and females.  I asked both my models to pose in modern ways (modern meaning showing personality and confidence) by also having cheerful expressions will help in attracting my audience. I chose to focus my main story around an artists new solo album.  I feel that this is a topic people in that age range will find interesting, it is also one that both genders could be interested in.
I have chosen sell lines that will appeal to both male and female audiences. ‘Nass’ is a festival that is popular with my target audience and Russell and Katy are current celebrities. By giving information relevant to current interest for young people will be a pull factor to buy the magazine. My target audience will want to know the latest in music media. The colouring on this page is very male dominated by the dark colours.  The pose in which my model is standing will appeal to both males and females. He looks very dominant and strong which could be seen as a role model effect for males whereas the stance could have sexual connotations for females. My model posing with a guitar relates to the genre of music portrayed in my music magazine therefore appealing to my target audience.  Slogans such as the one in the bottom right are pull factors for my target audience as it is something they will want to be apart of.
Information in other more interesting formats (such as my column on the right) makes it easier and more enjoyable for the reader.  “ World Exclusive” sell lines such as this attract my target audience because of the connotations behind them. It will let the reader think they are amongst the first to know. My main image taking up half the double page spread makes the spread looks more interesting. By making my text an interview it makes it feel more personal for the reader making it more interesting. My target audience will be more inclined to read something genuine.  Adding more pictures makes the page less text heavy and more visually affective. Young people will enjoy this more than reading big chunks of text.

  • 2. My target audience for Notion is young adults aged 16 – 25. Predominantly those who are interested in indie/rock music amongst other similar genres. I feel this is a good target audience for this genre as it is around my own age range and know that it is a popular genre around this. I think this is a wise decision as the best music magazine in Britain is based on indie/rock.
  • 3. These are a group of pictures I found on google.com. I think these a clear representations of the range of people I am trying to attract with my magazine.
  • 4. My main image can appeal to both genders. By having a male, obviously, will appeal to a female audience through sexual connotations however the clear success of my model will appeal to a male audience because of a role model effect. The colouring for my magazine are quite male dominated colours therefore possibly will not appeal to a female. My sell lines I feel appeal to both male and female audiences. The ‘Oasis special’ is one that does not sway more to one side as they are a popular band to both sexes. The bands I chose to discuss on my magazine are bands that have an audience of both males and females. I asked both my models to pose in modern ways (modern meaning showing personality and confidence) by also having cheerful expressions will help in attracting my audience. I chose to focus my main story around an artists new solo album. I feel that this is a topic people in that age range will find interesting, it is also one that both genders could be interested in.
  • 5. I have chosen sell lines that will appeal to both male and female audiences. ‘Nass’ is a festival that is popular with my target audience and Russell and Katy are current celebrities. By giving information relevant to current interest for young people will be a pull factor to buy the magazine. My target audience will want to know the latest in music media. The colouring on this page is very male dominated by the dark colours. The pose in which my model is standing will appeal to both males and females. He looks very dominant and strong which could be seen as a role model effect for males whereas the stance could have sexual connotations for females. My model posing with a guitar relates to the genre of music portrayed in my music magazine therefore appealing to my target audience. Slogans such as the one in the bottom right are pull factors for my target audience as it is something they will want to be apart of.

Information in other more interesting formats (such as my column on the right) makes it easier and more enjoyable for the reader. “ World Exclusive” sell lines such as this attract my target audience because of the connotations behind them. It will let the reader think they are amongst the first to know. My main image taking up half the double page spread makes the spread looks more interesting. By making my text an interview it makes it feel more personal for the reader making it more interesting. My target audience will be more inclined to read something genuine. Adding more pictures makes the page less text heavy and more visually affective. Young people will enjoy this more than reading big chunks of text.
