The document discusses ways in which the author's music magazine product uses and develops conventions of real media products.
The magazine uses graffiti-style fonts and urban colors to match the street-based R&B/hip hop genre. Images show models posing informally and intimidatingly as in music videos. Written content includes interview questions and answers like a real magazine.
The author believes Quincy Jones' company would be a good distributor as it publishes the similar Vibe magazine. The target audience is youth ages 15-19 to expand the business. Feedback from this group informed the layout, colors and intimidating front cover style to attract them.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. In what ways does your product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of a real media product?
1. The title of my magazine.
• I took a font from the internet to produce a graffiti look text, this is mainly because the
genre of my music is street based and graffiti is what we mainly see in the music
videos, i also inserted it in a black text box to make it stand out and attractive.
• i used the colours black, red and white because they look very urban.
2. Mis - en – scene of images.
• The images i used are informal the models that are posing for the camera have been
asked to pose in a certain way, for example i told the people to look intimidating and
they did so this is because the genre of my magazine is that most of the characters are
shown as intimidating, this is to show the status and power they have in the music
industry, so i told my models to do the same. The way in which they are dressed are in
formal and looks like what you would see people in R&B music videos dressed as.
• The people in my magazine are quite young and unconventional, and may not seem as
intimidating or as tough as they should just like the famous people in the music
industry based in my genre, but its close enough and the best i could do and find.
3. 3. Written content
• The written content in my music magazines follows the real codes and convention of a
real magazine for example: the rhetorical questions i had asked on my front cover is
what you would usually find on a real music magazine, and also the bar code and price i
had put on my front cover makes out as if its a real music magazine.
• The language is quite chatty and informal, in the contents page their is a option too
have a look at one of the peoples interview and answers this makes it sound and look
more real.
4. The title and font.
• The title looks more engaging and will appeal to the target audience because it relates
and looks like what you would see in a R&B music magazine because of the graffiti type
font. The font i used throughout my magazine is consistent and is a standard font i done
this too keep it simple and less muddled for the reader also this is something else you
would find in a real music magazine.
5. Music genre and how my magazine presents it?
• I think my music magazine is presented quite clearly that it is a R&B , Hip Hop music
magazine through the front cover picture and the font style i had chosen to use as my
masthead as it looks un formal, also I stated on my front cover it is a R&B music
magazine, also the lay out of my magazine is mainly conventional as you can see on the
double page spread on the side of the pictures it states the interviews of the people
being shown, also in the way i had presented my pictures along side with the quotes
and also my masthead is presented at a specific place and angle its very visible. The
barcode is also presented conventionally its either usually on the bottom of the page in
the corners or at the top.
6. Contents page.
• My contents page is conventional because for my target audience the layout and format
is simple and visible and has a picture of somebody that is the main person in the music
magazine.
4. What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
• I think that Quincy Jones would love to distribute my
product because , he launched vibe in 1993 the music
magazine has become very popular and is well known by
every one my product is within the same genre as vibe.
The target audience may be a little younger as my target
audience is for the youth of today but I think this is what
the company would need so they become more well known
and spread. This would be a great opportunity as the public
would be tempted to try out a new product, if the target
audience is attracted by the product this will give the
company more money, and expand in the business. It is still
aimed within the same age range but is more suitable for
the younger youth to read aswell.
5. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
• The audience for my product would be aimed
at the age range of 15-19for the young youth
of today as I intended not to use provocative
images or foul language in my magazines like
the normal R&B/Hip Hop magazine use. This is
because I think this will help the company
expand in its business and make more money.
Also younger people are interested in this
genre these days so this is why i chose to
make the product age range with 15-19.
6. How did you attract/address your
audience.
• As I was producing my magazine I was asking the target
audience what thy was thinking of the structure,
layout and house colours and if they was all working
well together.
• Most of the R&B / Hip Hop magazines mainly have
male character's that look intimidating as the front
cover, this is what I had done and this will give me a
better chance of attracting my target audience. Also
the format layout and style looks very urban and
colours I had chosen to use (black, white and
red)especially the logo the format I had used look like
street and graffiti type format.
