3) What have you
learned from your
audience feedback?
NANCY GILL MEDIA EVALUATION
I tried to gather as much audience feedback
and all in different ways to have some
variety in my work. By gathering audience
feedback it shows what ways in which I can
improve (when the feedback is done during
planning) and shows what you have done
well in the final tasks
Its important to gather feedback from all
stages in making the poster, magazine and
trailer for it to be the best it can be.
Questionnaire
 I thought a great method at the start to
gather great audience feedback would
be to make a questionnaire. I created
the questionnaire on publisher and
then printed it out to give to 10 people
from my target audience. By doing this
I could get a feel about what the
audience likes when it comes to trailers
and what will come across as most
appealing to them. By doing primary
research it strengthens my
understanding about my audience and
helps me improve what I
Questionnaire results
 From this audience feedback I can see
that on question 4, which is ‘ is horror the
usual genre you would go to see at the
cinema’ that I have picked the perfect age
range for this film. I know this because
everyone who filled in the questionnaire
was between 15-25. It is good that I chose
to give this questionnaire out when I
made the idea of genre change from
British social realism to horror, it shows it
was the right decision to make. When I
asked the question about if they go to
watch films in the cinema, I got a 50/50
answer. From this feedback I realised I
would have to release my film in other
places not just the cinema, such as Netflix
or on sky movies for my age range to go
and watch. The cinema can be quite
expensive which may be why some of
them would not be too keen on going, so
I would have to offer other alternatives.
Horror
magazine
 A questionnaire is just one
method of audience feedback I
used. I decided to try out
something new and use social
media to take advantage of
media technologies. I created a
Facebook group chat and sent it
to some of my friends who are in
the age range of 15-25 to see
what there opinions were on my
magazine poster. I was pleased to
see that it was all positive
feedback and that I had followed
the conventions of a magazine
cover which looked professional.
It was useful to get this feedback
as it shows what the public will
think
Final trailer feedback
 For the final trailer, I wanted to be creative with the methods
of audience feedback I gathered. My first bit of feedback of
the final trailer I did as if it was a preview of the trailer in a
theatre. By doing this it made it more exiting for the audience
and then at the end they gave their final opinions of the
horror trailer. From presenting the trailer as if it was a real
movie to my audience I discovered that they treated it more
seriously. Where it shown to them on a big screen they got
the full effect of the sound effects and music. They said in
their feedback that they had Goosebumps and that the trailer
really picked up in pace at the end. This was useful and
positive feedback as it shows our montage is successful and
makes the trailer tense. By showing the trailer on a big screen
with speakers, it was also shown from the feedback that they
noticed certain details such an Annabelle's facial expressions.
One thing I have learned which will really benefit audience
feedback is to treat it as if it is a real movie and the audience
will too, and they will get the trailer in full effect.
 Another way I gathered
audience feedback was again
using social media (facebook)
but this time made a public
event. This way it was public for
anyone to see and I was able to
invite people to give an opinion
where they were able to write it
underneath my post. I love using
this type of audience feedback
as everyone who is in the age
range of 15-25 has Facebook so
by using this as feedback it
shows I am keeping it being
modern and also appealing to all
the audience. I have learned
from this that the location of my
filming didn’t go un noticed and
has appealed to the audience
and they thought the trailer has
tension which is great as we
took ages trying to create this as
it is following the conventions of
a horror trailer.
Poster feedback
 To gather feedback for my film
poster, I thought it would be a great
idea to use a big screen and get it up
in a room with some of my target
audience who were friends to sit and
chat about it. I wanted to do it in a
social situation which shows the age
range is young. By doing it chatting
with a friend they were able to throw
ideas back and fourth with each other
about what they liked. By doing it like
this you could tell the audience were
being honest and were speaking to
each other friendly.
 In conclusion, I have learnt that by gaining audience feedback from the
start you are able to change and develop your tasks such as poster
magazine and film trailer to how the target audience would prefer. I have
found my audience feedback extremely useful and it has helped mould my
trailer listening to the perspective from my target audience. I have been
pleased with the reactions I have got, I was quite confident that my tasks
would be well liked as they are done to a high and professional standard.
The decision to change to a horror from British social realism turned out to
be the best thing as from my questionnaire I discovered the age ranges
favourite movie genre is a horror
