2. In what ways does your media product use, develop
or challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?
The media product I have created is a music magazine and in
this music magazine I have made a cover page, contents page
and double page spread which contain an article on my artist.
My magazine does use, develop and at times challenge forms
and conventions of real media products.
These media products that I have looked at are other real
music magazines that have been made and sold. During my
product research I looked at other magazine covers, contents
and double page spreads and analysed these.

4. In comparison…
In comparison to my music magazine I know that I
have used many conventions of typical music
magazines. For example, the title of my magazine, I
have tried to develop conventions by using the typical
bold text and using mostly the same fonts throughout
to make it not only eye catching for audiences but
making the title obvious, which is the same with other
magazines I have looked at in product research.

5. • In the NME, Q and Mixmag magazines these all also
use bold and outstanding mastheads and titles that do
stick with an audience. I have also tried to keep the
colour scheme of my magazine the same throughout,
like seen in other music magazines. For instance, I have
used reds, whites and blacks throughout and other
magazines such as NME uses the same colour scheme
of red, blue, black and white, which is a very typical
convention of music magazines to keep within the
same colour scheme. The main reason being because it
allows audiences to connect with the magazine and
allows them to identify with it

6. Layout Design
It is a typical convention of music magazines to have the main image placed
over some of the magazines masthead, whereas I haven’t done this. My
main image is covered slightly by my masthead. Therefore, I have
challenged one convention that I believe is of music magazines. I have kept
with the same house style so that people can identify with my magazine
which is similar with other music magazine. I have done this by keeping the
same colours of text and font style etc, it also gives off ideas of what the
genre of the magazine is, so it is quite important.
