In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. In my music magazine I have used many different typical conventions
and have tried to carry this out throughout my magazine.
For my magazine I have developed a R&B style which consists of blue,
yellow and white. This style is consistent throughout the magazine and
works well together. I decided to choose these colours because they
worked well on magazines such as vibe and vibe vixen and are very eye
catching colours which would make the reader interested in the
magazine.
3. The masthead on the magazine shows the
reader what type of magazine it is by it being a
bold and bright colour, for example mine is
white and all in capitals making it easily
recognized by the reader . I have used a typical
convention by putting the main image in front of
the title. This is also seen in other types of
magazines such as Top of the pops or Kerrang.
4. On my front cover I have also put many feature
stories as many R&B magazines have seemed to
use them such as Vibe. This attracts the
audience because it is eye catching and gives the
reader an insight of what’s going on inside the
magazine. I also put barcode on my font cover
following with an issue date as this is a typical
convention to any magazine.
5. For my main image I have used a medium shot like many
other music magazines for example vibe vixen. The
purpose of this image is to let the reader know what the
article is going to be about, also the image I have used
for my front cover may link to the Vibe magazine’s
audience as they wear similar clothing. The fact that my
model is wearing a black top with a gold chain and
glasses could be a typical convention in terms of
costume for the R&B genre.
