Special Education Gap
Introduction
Purpose Statement
The purpose of this research is to examine the achievement gap between whites and minorities in
special education on standardized testing.
Justification
Throughout history there has been an achievement gap between whites and minorities due to the
history of inadequate education standards. In present research the achievement gap have shown a
negative correlation on the future of many minority students. When this academic gap is considered in
terms of math and science achievement, the implications become even more troublesome. In today s
society, engineering and technology are extremely important because they relate to career
opportunities in many different fields. The curriculum taught in science and math courses

but he didnt object to it. In afonso time being king he had made an agreement with portugal The

Similarities Between Buddhism And Buddhism
Buddhism, like other world religions, is not one homogeneous grouping of like minded devotees
adhering to one school of thought. Just as Christianity has its Catholics and Protestants, and Islam its
Sunnis and Shiites, Buddhism is also comprised of various schools and sects. Some scholars separate
Buddhist schools into geographical groupings, such as Southern, Eastern and Northern traditions,
whereas some prefer to focus on a more tradition specific delineation, such as Theravada, Mahayana,
and Vajrayana Buddhism (Cousins 1998, p. 370; Buddhism 2015 ). All traditions accept the
fundamental Buddhist doctines of Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, anatta (absence of
soul) and karma (causation), but differ on other significant aspects. This essay will compare and
contrast two Buddhist traditions, the Therevada Buddhism of Sri Lanka, and Mahayana Buddhism of
China. Theravada Buddhism can also be characterised as representative of the Southern tradition of
Buddhism, whereas Mahayana is of the Eastern tradition. This essay will also address how these
particular types of Buddhism developed in their respective countries.
Prior to the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in 247 BCE, the cultural environment was characterised
by a mix of indigenous (veddha) and Aryan beliefs, influenced by elements of mainland Indian culture
(Perera 2013). It was the Indian Emperor Asoka who sent his son, Mahinda, to introduce Buddhism to
the Sri Lankan king (Robinson, Johnson Bhikku 2005, p.

Research Paper On Tupac Shakur
Tupac Amaru Shakur was a very influential person who overcame many difficulties. Tupac was a
rapper of truth that spoke about the things that go on in the Hood and the unjust police. He was treated
differently because he was black and was even arrested for jaywalking. After he was arrested he was
beaten by the cops who wanted him to learn his place (Joseph 29). This shows how bad Tupac had it
because he was African American. Tupac died an early death at 25 because of a brewing rivalry
between the East and West Coast rappers. Shakur was a person who would stand up for what he
believed in no matter the cost and died fighting for that. He never let anyone win a battle that he was
determined to win and always knew what he was fighting for. His mother was the same, as a loyal
member of the Black Panther Party, a group that protected all African Americans from police brutality.
Tupac was literally born to be a fighter and carried on his mother s legacy. Despite his rough life,
Tupac Shakur became one of the most influential rappers of all time.
Tupac Shakur was born on June 16th, 1971, with the name Lesane Crooks. His name was switched to
Tupac Amaru II almost a year later. He was born in New York and lived primarily in Harlem till he
was 13. In 1984 he moved to Baltimore where he lived for four years until he moved to Oakland.
When he was younger he struggled in life because his family was poor and had to move. Mostly

Women Empowerment Paralegal Women
The project wishes to develop the 25 years old experience of paralegal women in an innovative way,
through improving its methodology, expanding its approach and connecting by technology paralegal
women, feminist lawyers and domestic violence s victims. Through a social network and an access
qualified and centralized to information and empowerment, we believe that wiil be easier for a larger
number of women toindentify based gender opression and face it.
Women empowerment means to identify all kinds of oppression based on gender roles and to face it.
This process has two dimensions: individual and collective. At the individual level, access to
information about gender role and its social source lead women to seek for their autonomy and
freedom. When they realize that the female social being is a social construction, nor a changeless

Feminist groups on internet had growed in the last decade, behind the tradicional mobilization forms.
As an example, we quote Vamos juntas? or Let s go together? , an initiative lead for a girl from the
South of Brazil, that aimed at teaming women up so they do not have to walk alone after dark and risk
assault . The movement s national page has almost 350.000 members and inspired more many smaller
groups among brazilian regions. Another example in Brazil is the Mapa chega de fiu fiu , an initiative
that created a map where women can register urban harassment and identify the locals more hostile to
women, in the way to think in how to better face it. Around the world, it s growing the use of
technology as a tool to end violence against women also. In Australia, there is an app called Doncare s

Afghanistan Women Essay
United States humanitarian relief efforts have recently focused much of their efforts on involving the
livelihood of Afghanistan women. For decades, these women have been frequent victims of abuse,
despite some success by authorities in prosecuting rape cases, forced marriages and domestic violence.
Child marriage, selling and buying women to settle disputes, assault and more than a dozen other acts
of violence and abuse against women are a common norm in Afghan society. About 87% of women
experience physical, psychological or sexual violence. Incidents of violence against women remain
largely under reported because of cultural restraints, social norms and religious beliefs. Because of
widespread discrimination, fears of social stigma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women advocacy groups are concerned that restrictions would be placed on women s ability to work
and are calling on key allies to continue to support women s rights through non profit funding. The
Afghan people are largely opposed to the influence of western nations and want to see Afghans
carrying out changes themselves. It is reported that Imams use their sermons to portray a strong anti
Western sentiment. Americans burning Qur ans and videos negatively displaying the Prophet
Muhammad are used to fuel anti Western sentiment and initiate protests. With the widespread anti
Western sentiment, it will be a challenge for Western workers to train Afghan women. All too often,
women of all ages are discriminated against in health, education and the labor market resulting in
negative effects on their freedoms. While women here in the U.S. are far better off than those in other
countries, and by and large don t experience what women face in developing countries, we simply can
t turn our backs on the struggles women face elsewhere. It s a critical challenge that the entire world
must work together to address. By observing the gender disparities in Somalia and Afghanistan, the
U.S. can find specific ways to invest in gender equality and women s rights in developing nations.
Gender inequality is an international concern, because women empowerment allows for social,
economic and political growth. In the

Socioeconomic Status And Academic Achievement
Introduction:
There are many different factors that affect a student s academic success in the education system. One
of the main factors that play a part in a student academic success is where their family lies on the
socio economic scale. The components of socioeconomic status income, parent education and parent
occupation are each statistically significant predictors of student achievement (Buckingham, Wheldall,
Beamnan Whelldan, 2013). Socioeconomic status defines not just the income of an individual but also
that educational attainment, financial security, and subjective perceptions of social status and social
class (APA, 2017). Socioeconomic Status and Academic Achievement is an important topic to discuss
as many of our students in the education system are either on the bottom of the scale or the top and to
find accurate resources to help these students succeed academically we have to look at the research
regarding socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status affects the human functioning overall psychical
and mental health. The research has found that students from families with lower social economic
status struggle more than those students who come from a higher social economic status due to the
slower development in academic skills as they are focused on so many different skills at one time than
those who are from higher socioeconomic status communities. Along with that, school systems in
lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods are often under resourced,

Difference Between Traditional Marketing Vs. Traditional...
What is the Difference between Traditional Marketing vs Digital Marketing?
Every business organization knows that great marketing helps find and retain customers. In general,
most recognize that there are several ways to market their products or services. Now more than ever,
people spend more time online than they spend reading books, or watching TV? For this reason,
digital marketing continues to grow and provides a way for companies to market to their consumers
where consumers are spending their time! Traditional Marketing
Traditional marketing has been around forever. Common examples include TV, magazine, newspaper,
radio, business cards, flyers, and trade shows. Traditional marketing methods are very familiar and
generally easy to understand. For that reason, many companies continue to include traditional

However, it was in October 1994, when the team at Hotwired the first commercial web magazine
deliberated on ways to pay their writers and the idea came in the form of selling ad spaces in large
quantities and the term banner advertising was coined. The plan was to create special sections on the
website for the banners to be displayed on. The idea was not entirely new though. AT T was one of the
first companies to buy ads on Hotwired.
You see, internet is now one of those things that is taken for granted. It s hard to imagine a life without

My First 12 Step Meeting
For posterity s sake, I tried to recall my first 12 step meeting and have concluded that it was most
likely the year 1996, it was cold in the little town of Altoona. The clubhouse was strange, dark,
smelled of coffee, and full of smoke there, the people were all so different, but all of them seemed to
know some secret code, plus they seemed to talk as if reading bumper stickers. As I kept coming back,
I began to feel more comfortable, understand what was going on, and want what these people had.
People at these meetings were open, appeared comfortable in their own skins, and had such, dramatic,
fascinating stories that were dark, yet somehow uplifting. Since that time, I have been to a plethora of
various types of meetings at various locations, but there is a theme throughout of trust, and a bond of
acceptance that makes one feel welcome wherever one goes to a meeting. Therefore, I had a plan to go
to Allentown with my fiancée to an NA meeting he used to go to on Saturday night, however, as things
sometimes happens, this did not go as planned. Not to worry, I have learned long ago that alternative
meetings can work just as well, or better. In fact, for all the meetings I have attended, I have never
regretted going, or not gotten something out of it. Ending up going to one of my favorite meeting
places, all worked out for the best, as I felt it would. The Sunday Morning Speakers Group D 33 at the

Egypt s Myth In The Movie Gods Of Egypt
From the trailer, Gods of Egypt released in 2016, seems to be an action packed retelling of the iconic
battle between Horus and Set. But in reality, the movie is loosely based on actual Egyptian mythology.
It is fascinating to see the differences between the film, and mythology. As well as analyze the movie s
message, and how the movie uses myth to deliver that message.
The movie Gods of Egypt and the original myths detailing Osiris and Horus s lives are incredibly
different. In the tale, Osiris s death occurs a lot differently. In the myth, Set, his brother invites him to
a banquet to celebrate the 28th year of his reign. Set has a beautiful chest made of cedar wood inlaid
with ebony and ivory that is made precisely to Osiris s measurements, and proposes a contest; that,
whoever can fit into the chest perfectly, will have it gifted to them. One by one, seventy two of his
secret accomplices attempt to fit into it for show, and not surprisingly none of them fit. Set persuades
Osiris into participating in the contest and fits perfectly. Right before he can savour his victory, the
accomplices slam down the lid, nail it shut and lap it around with molten lead. The co conspirators
then throw him into the Nile to die.
In the movie, they are celebrating Horus s coronation, which is interesting considering in the myth,
Horus isn t born until after Osiris is dead. Nonetheless Set shows up to honour him as well, but has
other intentions. In the middle of the coronation, his

Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Chinua Achebe s controversial essay published in 1977 focuses on the racist views woven into Joseph
Conrad s 1899 novella, Heart of Darkness. Achebe claims that Conrad uses many western stereotypes
of Africa and subtly weaves them below the surface of his writing. However, due to the popularity of
the novella and the skill of Conrad, his racist views go undetected. The most obvious indicator of
Conrad s racist views is the depictions of the people. They are described as savage creatures, yet
Conrad s novella is noted for its excellence and not its horrible racist claims. Conrad s novella is full
of parallels, such as the River Thames, which is peaceful and calm contrary to the Congo River, which
is depicted as being a rough and dangerous place. By creating these parallels Conrad is representing
the differences between the European people and the Natives of Congo because he fears the thought of
having anything in common with them. Achebe declares that the racist views in the novella come from
Conrad s own beliefs but to conceal them he hides behind multiple narrators. Achebe puts forth a
compelling article that delves deep into the depths of Heart of Darkness.
Although Chinua Achebe s essay brings forth some convincing points highlighting the racism within
Heart of Darkness, he makes too many assumptions about Conrad s true intentions and beliefs that are
not concrete enough to prove that Heart of Darkness is a racist novella. Achebe focuses largely on the
language that

Wound Cleaning Research Paper
When the majority of the wound is not covered by necrotic tissue (at least 75%) our treatment should
be focused on selective debridement. With this type of removal we will only be working with the
necrotic tissue. Depending on the physicians order we may use this in our treatment. Another
important aspect is wound cleansing. Every time the dressing is changed they should clean the wound.
We should avoid using hydrogen peroxide, soap, povidone iodine because they could damage the
healing process. The recommended solutions are water (drinkable tap or sterile) and normal saline. We
should also consider using syringe irrigation to apply the solution. Finally, wound moisture is another
important aspect we would need to take into consideration.

Choosing A Smart Property Purchase
Choosing where to purchase properties is an important decision. You might be buying your first home
or a home to rent out as an investment property. The fact is, everyone has different needs.
Affordability, accessibility to public transport, and proximity to schools can all have a big impact on
the value of a potential investment property. If you re looking for your dream home, the criteria can be
even more personal.
Knowing how to make a smart property purchase decision can seem overwhelming, so it s important
to understand the basics.
What is your personal situation?
Identifying the factors that are important to you is a good place to start. Ask yourself what you need
the property to achieve for you. Then, see if the property ticks all those important boxes. Knowing
whether you need an investment that is cash flow positive, or if you can sustain an investment
property that might build some long term capital gain, is a good basis for your decision making.
If your plan is to renovate for capital gain, then that off the plan property might not be the right
investment for you. Also, before you think about buying in a regional location, look at the industries
that are integral to the region and consider how secure those industries are. There are no guarantees in
life and if your personal finances can t withstand a downturn, then that location may not be the best
choice for you. How much you can actually afford to borrow is another important factor. Talk to a
trusted mortgage

Advertising And Media Affect The Image Of Women In The Media
Advertisers display women as more of a sex symbol while the men are displayed normally. In the first
essay, Kilbourne points out an epidemic that still occurs today when Kilbourne states, Sex in
advertising is pornographic because it dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and
because it fetishizes products [...] meet our emotional needs (489). This quote unfolds the truth on
how advertising and media portray women as sex symbols. Both the media and advertising have
women portrayed in a sexual way, which affect the image of women drastically. In advertising
specifically, Solnit points out a problem that occurs in the gaming community when Solnit states,
Women in the online gaming community have been harassed, threatened, and driven out (528). This
quote shows how women in today s world cannot even speak out of a problem of a game design
without getting death threats. In those games woman characters nowadays are simply stretched to the
extremes of sexualizing the women characters. An example of a specific game that has women
portrayed in an overly sexual way is in the Mortal Kombat series. In the game, the women are
portrayed as either sex symbols while on the other hand the male characters would be completely
normal or they are a mutant monster build. The women who try to speak about the displayed images
of women in such video games in result from doing so results in the women receiving massive hate,
which includes death threats. Within Colombo s essay, it

Carol Tavris Mistakes Were Made
Two different but similar forms of writing are able to be tied down into one general but specific
category. In the book, Mistakes Were Made (but not by me), by Elliot Aronson and Carol Tavris,
Aronson and Tavris commentates on events that people go through. The book is mainly about Elliot
Aronson s and Carol Tavris opinion on how people behave and should behave when caught in tough
situations. Instead of focusing on one main character in the book, each section of the book illustrates a
different person s situation and that situation would correspond with a specific theme in the chapter.
Throughout the book, Aronson and Tavris give us a broad idea of how some psychological
thinking/processes comes into play, each psychological concept corresponds to a chapter or section in
the book, these ideas are: confirmation bias, revision of memories, self justification, pyramid of
choice, cognitive dissonance, blind spots, closed loops, reducing cognitive dissonance, blaming, self
justification (for the greater good), and (sunk costs). Another form of writing, Wrong Answer , by
Rachel Aviv, is an article focusing on the main idea of a school going through tough times and the
outcome of the actions taken by the staff. The article revolves around Parks Middle School in Atlanta.

the tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the Friar and the
Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be interpreted in a similar way, their
tellers are significantly different. Although the Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they
both have a similarly structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very
similar plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder someone
named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a pot of gold, which happens
to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in the pot and become rich. While one of the three
leaves to buy wine to celebrate their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill
the other so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons the
wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other one, but then drink
the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a

Tic Tac Marketing Strategy
Tic Tac is one of the largest breath mint market, which has been there in the industry for more than 50
years now. Their product line is far away the most sold in the world due to their bigger and multiple
factories and employees worldwide. As stipulated in the article, in 1969, Tic Tac gave to their
customers the catchy jingle which was a huge success. In the 1970s, they extended their product line
by adding the cinnamon flavored red mints and the tangerine flavored orange mints. The Ferrero
group introduced their new product with its iconic flip top packaging. Tic Tac continued to offer more
flavors to their customers, which in 1980 introduced the 1 and 1/2 Calorie Breath Mint followed by
the spearmint and wintergreen. Last but not least, in the early 2000s, Tic Tac decided to increase the
width of their product mix with even more flavors by creating Tic Tac Bold which came in mixed fruit
flavors. Although, they have been dominant all through their existence, they recently have been
overtaken by other breath mint competitors such as Everest, Cool Chews, Icefresh, Blitz, Ice Chips,
Cool Blast, Ice Breakers and Altoids with their the curiously strong mints in the metal container from
Callard Bowser Suchard (Charles W. Lamb, Joe F. Hair, Carl McDaniel, 2011). The Ferrero Group felt
the need to overcome their competition by presenting something new to the market, which would

Beginning Your Search for Your Family Tree
Many people have, at least at one point in their lives, had great curiosity about family members who
came before them and whom they never met. Many of us have a vague notion that we come from
immigrants to America who were fleeing a famine in Ireland or war in Europe or Central America, or
political persecution in other parts of the world. Still others know that they had family members from
another part of the globe who came to America to search for a better life, full of more promising
opportunity.
Whatever the case, people are drawn to learn more. Starting out to do research on your family tree can
seem a bit daunting, if not overwhelming. But there are some simple steps to follow that will get you
started.
First, start by understanding that most family tree research projects are very long term endeavors.
These histories can go back hundreds of years and trace across wide swaths of the globe. And, the path
of the research is often not linear; you will likely start and stop and start again on the same line of
inquiry over and over as new information becomes available.
The best place to start is typically the easiest. There is already quite a bit of long standing family
history embedded in the memories and stories held by your living relatives. You can start by having
conversations with them on a one on one basis, or by gathering them together in a room. Often times,
these stories are so deeply engrained in people that having a conversation going among others helps to
spur

Overview of the WARN Act
For so many years, this nation has been creating policies and laws to protect the people and their way
of life. One particular law that was passed still creates a lot of confusion on whether this law pertains
to them or not. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a federal law to
protect workers, their families, and society from sudden or unforeseen job losses due to plant closings
and massive layoffs. The WARN Act was originally enacted on August 4, 1988, but it evidentially
became effective on February 4, 1989 (Department of Labor, 2013). Unlike other laws that are
enforced by certain government or federal agencies, the WARN Act in which an employee, their
representative, or a government official has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Department of Energy (DOE) concluded there were not enough sufficient benefits being offered
to the taxpayers for them to extend the enrichment at the plant (USEC). With the increasing cost of
production resulting from power consumption and the decreasing prices in nuclear fuel, the USEC felt
that it was in their best interest to begin the process of layoffs in order to continue operations into the
next year while trying to manage inventory, meet customer orders, as well as meeting the turnover
requirements with the DOE on its lease (USEC, 2013). To prepare themselves, the USEC utilized the
provisions of the WARN Act to properly commence with their scheduled layoff while providing
proper notice to their employees despite the many years of excellent performance from its workforce.
While the act may provide some control of policy, it can cause quite of bit of confusion for certain
departments of the government. As discussed previously, the WARN Act provides businesses with a
safeguard measure to utilize in the event of a shutdown or mass layoffs, but for the federal
government, many questions came about in light of the recent furloughs and shutdowns. The WARN
Act states that businesses must provide their employees with proper notice, but the furloughs tested
that notion due to being unsure of when exactly the furloughs were going to take place. I am currently

Community Assessment Sample
This is a profile of the school community for North Vista Elementary school. I have taught at this
school for over ten years and served on the PTA Executive Board for three years. My children attend
this school as well. Information for this assignment was gathered from online sources, news articles,
phone interviews, and personal experience. Florence School District One is a diverse school district as
a whole, and that diversity is a result of the merging of various communities within Florence School
District One. For this assignment, I will focus on the North Florence community where my school is
situated. The North Florence community has always been one of the poorest communities in Florence.

Florence is $72,000. The average home value of the city of Florence is $151,500 according to the
2014 Census estimates. As noted in earlier statistics, North Florence is a poor area where the majority
of households have a low socioeconomic status. The lack of job opportunities in North Florence, a
slow housing market in the area are the causes of poverty in the community and creates a disadvantage
for some of our students. I have spoken with the principal, Sharon Dixon, on numerous occasions
about the effects of this on our students. Many of the students come to the school with a lower
vocabulary than students from wealthier parts of Florence. Much of that has to do with the lack of
education of the parents. Many hold high school diplomas, but only a few of our parents hold college
degrees. The education level of the parent is a factor in the preparation of children for school. A lot of
the families also receive government assistance and do not have access to technology or extra learning
opportunities. Many parents work multiple jobs or shift jobs and do not always have the time to help
their students academically. This puts the children behind before they even begin. North Vista has
some of the lowest test scores in the district, but the principal has been working closely with

Consumer Spending Throughout The Seasons Essay
Consumer Spending Throughout the Seasons.
We are heading towards the season of spending, black Friday is just around the corner, with that
exactly 31 days after we have Christmas. Consumer spending should be at an all time high right, with
month long sales and new deals everyday as coined with the popular shopping destinations. Now we
all agree that there are four seasons throughout the year, we have the spring equinox, summer solstice,
fall equinox, winter solstice. In most firms, they also have something called a fiscal year and that can
be broken down into 4 quarters. Consumers are always spending throughout the year, those spending
habits change with the flow of seasons.

On the bottom of the tier list we have stuff like food, water, warmth and rest. As we go higher on the
list we find more psychological needs ones that can be acquired by spending. (Maslow, 1943). Now
you may be wondering why I bring up psychology in an economics essay and to that I say marketing
which I will explain how in ties in later. Wants would be and can be anything, more expensive foods
could be a want, more clothing could be a want. If we look at figure 1 you can see consumption from
the three basic needs food, clothing and housing. The most interesting thing we can see from the graph
is that nothing stands out as being a dominate quarterly for food and housing other than the steady rise
in spending with yearly progression. Clothing as it turns out has since 2010 has always had a growth
from fourth quarter to first quarter.
Quarters and Seasons Revenues Now Walmart is a good choice in my opinion for following seasonal
consumer spending, that reason being is that they spend a lot of effect to carter to each season and

Good Samaritan Health Center Of Cobb Essay
Description of the Organization
Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb was founded in 2006 as a 501(c)3 organization with the goal
of providing quality affordable healthcare to people in need (Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb,
2016). Its founders, Reverend Grant Cole, the former pastor of Connection Point Church, and Dr. Jack
Kennedy, Director of Cobb Douglas Public County Health, started Good Samaritan Health Center of
Cobb after seeing the need in their community and realizing that medical bills and poor health are a
contributing factor to poverty in the U.S (Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb, 2016). Reverend
Cole and Dr. Kennedy modeled Good Samaritan Health Center of Cobb after the Good Samaritan
Health Center in Atlanta so the two organizations are very similar in mission, vision, and operations,
but serve different populations based on their locations (Tapper, 2016). The official mission of Good
Samaritan Cobb, as stated on their website, is, to spread the love of Christ by providing quality
healthcare to those in need. Its vision per the website is to be, obedient to God s commandments

Systems Thinking And The Health Care System
Systems thinking was developed during this SMAC by learning to identify the connections of
Information tecnology and the health care system. This SMAC involved the understand of the health
care system and the service they provide and how they operates. As a result, while systems thinking
allows new and useful methods to improve patient safety, it comes with it its own intangible
challenges that, if not documented and addressed, will both slow improvement and present new harm.
This SMAC allowed us to see the challenges that healthcare system faces and how they analyzed and
apply systems thinking in assessing them. Understanding the challenges by completion of a SWOT
analysis. Which required the development of an action plan of improvement for patient safety by
implementing and maintaining new processes and practices such has how can the functions of each
component be optimized so that the results of the system are maximized? How can we identify and
monitor for unintended consequences? How can we intervene to prevent harm from unintended
consequences. It required the development of an action plan of improvement for the future. We have
improved our ability to understand how health care system achieve the organizational goal of safe and
excellent patient care by developing my ability at systems thinking. The contributions to this SMAC

advantage of the opportunity that was happening in China. Wal Mart has become the world s largest

According to the article experts says that Wal Mart customers saved at least 15% on a typical cart of
groceries (Farhoomand, A. F., Wang, I., September, 2008). The major issue for Wal Mart was how to
salvage the investment they made in China. They had these entire great strategic plan that worked in
other countries that seemed to have done great. By 1996 the company decided to move a branch into
China they started with a supercenter and a Sam s club. The business did not take off the way they
hoped and planned. The company started to lose money since it opened stores in China. The company
thought that the problem was that they had only one store in such a huge market. The fact of the
matter was that the Chinese government turned down the company request to expand further in
different parts of the country. The government was not convinced that Wal Mart would be successful
with all the new competition that was being implemented in other areas. Conclusion Wal Mart learned
that businesses in other countries may impact the benefit of an investment and is also learning that it s
going to be trail and error. They can only hope that they can endure their place there so that they can
have the potential to grow as a brand. I recommend that the company continue to research and
discover what is in those local stores that are driving their consumers to keep coming back for more.

Using the power of endurance I kept trying and trying and finally they saw how strong my
perseverance was and started booking me for shows. The most important thing is to endure by
enduring: understanding the difficulties, enduring the hardships, predicting the risks, and tolerating the
abuse, all ensure fame and success for such a person. What makes one truly great is knowing how to
tolerate the intolerable and how to endure the unendurable. Everyone knows how to thrive in the good
times. It is the trying times that separate the one who has substance from the one who merely

Thick Face, Black Heart is the secret law of nature that governs successful behavior in every aspect of

action is a great virtue to have. Also, understanding how to surmount pain, doubt, and failure is an

Linear strategy agrees with Ansoff (1987) about focusing on future planning. Adaptive strategy
includes goal setting and planning and looks at how strategy can form in unpredictable environments.
Interpretive strategy uses frames as references that make 2 it possible for the stakeholders to
understand the organisation and its environment. (Andrews, 1980) In the article Mintzberg (1984, pp.
66) argues that companies are incorrectly planning strategy through rationale control, the analysis of
competitors and markets, and of companies strengths and weaknesses, and combining all of this
information to create their full blown strategies . Inkpen Choudhury (1995) believed that organisations
that relied on strict set routines and focused on consistency would then be unable to become
innovative and be able to experiment. Chandler (1977) believes strategy is about using the necessary
recourses so the organizations are able to carry out their long term goals and aims. Which relates to

Business communication needs to become interpersonal again. No matter how we believe our human

For the greatest success of the business, employees need interpersonal communication to connect with
their co workers. A leadership expert, John C. Maxwell (2010) says: Connecting goes beyond words.
(p. 41). Physically being in the same room, verbally speaking thoughts, engaging in eye contact, and
being able to see nonverbal responses are all important and add to a person s understanding of the
message being communicated and feeling a connection. Overall, communicating face to face is more
natural for employees. An employee knows who is hearing what they are saying and seeing their
nonverbal gestures. The employee can either get immediate feedback whether or not the person
understands or agrees or disagrees. The communication does not have to be formatted as it does on
paper. An employee should still present themselves professionally, but communicating face to face is a

1.2.1 How Effective Does The Human Rights Act 1998 Promote Substantive Equality
This section provides a summary of the main findings of major reviews that have been conducted of
the effectiveness of the Human Rights Act by the government, the Joint Committee on Human Rights
and the Commission. The reviews indicated that the HRA had largely had a positive impact on public
service delivery and the enjoyment of human rights. However there are a number of barriers to the
HRA s effectiveness: significant misconceptions about the HRA are held by sections of the media,
general public and at times public authorities (including by frontline staff in public authorities on
when the HRA is not relevant), a need to improve understanding and application of the HRA by public
authorities, and a need for better leadership on human rights issues by the government and the
Commission.
These issues are also linked to the discussion of the process for developing any Bill of Rights in
Chapter 4.
Reviews by the government and the Joint Committee on Human Rights
There have been two reviews conducted by the government on the effectiveness of the HRA. In July
2006 the Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) published a review in response to the Prime
Minister s request to the Lord Chancellor to consider any problems with the implementation of the
HRA. In addition, the Home Office conducted a review of the effect of the HRA in the context of a

Jamaica is known for its jerked chicken, clear waters, and more notably for Reggae, which makes
Jamaican culture globally recognized. However, despite its mainstream entertainment value of today,
reggae is not only music; however it is a way of life for some Jamaicans. It originated as a political
form of protest against the colonial forces operative in the social context of Jamaican life. Musical
ambassadors like the Abyssinians, Burning Spear, Sir Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny

Artists would essentially hit two birds with one stone. The first bird was the ability to simply perform
their music. However the second bird isn t as simple as the first, it is the meaning. The second was the
protest against the Babylon system and oppression. To the Rastafari, the Babylon system is any and all
oppressive and unequal practices in Jamaica. Babylon began to surface throughout reggae music.
Reggae lyrics are suggestive of the reggae protest songs. Bob Marley is a great example of capturing
his strong negative views of Babylon. Reggae protest songs proved to be a force with power, both
socially and politically. Ironically the Jamaican government would use reggae as a vehicle to promote
its views (King, xiv).
Reggae never lost and will never lose its association with music and the Rastafari culture. It remains a
revolutionary form of explanatory art. Music never remains stagnate, it will always evolve. Roots
reggae; a sub genre of Reggae, was dominant in Jamaica in the cohort of 1975 1980. Roots reggae
tackles the life of a ghetto sufferer and discusses truths and rights (Barrow and Dalton, 129).
Dancehall and the incorporation of hip hop rhythms was the new addition of reggae. Dancehall

Forgiveness In The Sunflower Analysis
Forgiveness There is an abundance of ways that one might interpret forgiveness. Psychologists might
explain it as a conscious decision to pardon the actions of those who ve done wrong. Religious people
might identify it as an attribute that we should all have. Though there are many ways in which
forgiveness is seen, they all conclude that it leads people towards happiness and peace. In Simon
Wiesenthal s book The Sunflower, forgiveness is an important concept. Forgiveness is shown as an
important concept to the story as it makes the reader question the forgiver s role, the importance of
forgiveness, and the reason people ask for forgiveness. In The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal, he
shares his story of when a dying Nazi soldier asked him for forgiveness. After that incident,
Wiesenthal goes on a journey through life trying to figure out if his actions were right in not forgiving
the soldier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going about life with a forgiving attitude tends to make us happier and more at peace. In The
Sunflower, forgiveness is the main and most important concept. Karl asks for forgiveness from Simon
on his actions and Simon goes through the rest of his life pondering whether or not what he did was
right and if he should try and forgive himself for what he did. After talking to Bolek, Simon states, I
became less and less certain as to whether I had acted rightly (Wiesenthal 83). This statement shows
how Simon does not know whether what he did was right and how every person he talked to about his
situation impacted his opinions. Forgiveness is such an important concept that it makes Wiesenthal
ponder about his actions and ask for input from multiple different people. He felt as if he cannot be at
peace until he comes to terms with his actions. This shows that forgiveness is an extremely important
concept in both life and The Sunflower as it can lead us onto different paths and make us question our
views and

How To Write An Essay About John F Kennedy s Assassination
The assassination of John F. Kennedy is what my grandfather and grandmother remember
tremendously about their childhood. They both said the day President Kennedy passed away in Dallas,
Texas, they were all getting to view the aftermath and news on a few televisions that their principle
brought into the rooms. My grandfather said, We were just teenagers in tenth grade and this historical
event put an unknown fear in all of us. They never expected anything like this to happen to their own
president. The day John F. Kennedy was assassinated, he was in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas at the
Texas Conservatory. The governor was in the front seat and John F. Kennedy was in the back seat. My
grandparents said, When they cut the television on, there were secret service surrounding the car and
his wife, Jacklyn Kennedy, was yelling. They also told me that when they were replaying the video,
you could actually see when he got shot. My grandfather told me it was not for a couple minutes until
they realized the governor had also been shot when the president was. ... Show more content on

They did get President John F. Kennedy to the hospital, but my grandparents told me it could not have
more than twenty minutes before they had heard the news. My grandfather said, With Kennedy being
shot in the head and in the neck, it was an immediate death. They took him to the hospital because
they had to try their best to find a way to get him back. Although the governor was okay, on this day
the United States had lost their president. He was still to this day is the youngest president to be
elected into office and the youngest president to leave office. My grandmother told me where they
buried him and that there is an eternal flame that has been lit since he was buried and will never go

This Face Changes The Human Story Analysis
Since Naledi has human and australopithecines features I think she should be placed 2 3 million years
ago. I believe Naledi was an early Homo that was in the early stages of the body evolving. In the
article This Face Changes the Human Story. But How? it states that Parts of the skeletons looked
astonishingly modern. But others were just as astonishingly primitive in some cases, even more
apelike than the australopithecines. That means that in that certain group you had a mix of modern
human looking and ape like creatures. They were most likely fond of each other like a family which is
why they put them in what seems a burial site. If it is a burial site, then it must have been in that area
for quite some time. Once all the bones were laid

Persuasive Techniques Used in Michael Jackson s Eulogy...
Persuasion is a commonly used communication technique that allows us to socially influence a certain
topic positively or negatively. Its purpose is to help affirm or nullify an idea, belief or attitude.
Sometimes the exact topic is very detectable in communication such as during debates but other times
it displayed a little more subtly. Persuasion is more than just verbally speaking. Non verbal
communication such as body language, tone and pitch of the voice can also add to the affirmation of
the topic. The setting and location also help encourage the acceptance of what is being persuaded.
In Michael Jackson s eulogy delivered by Al Sharpton, a subtle persuasion speech was also given. He
wanted us to know that although a special person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many would agree that a really great candidate was chosen to give Michael s eulogy. When you think
of Al Sharpton, a good image comes to mind because his ethos is very reputable. Not only is this man
well known to the general population, he is particularly known in the black community. The Reverend
Al Sharpton is known mainly known for being a civil rights advocate, Baptist minister, and radio talk
show host. He is also known for making many appearances on news television channels such as
MSNBC. In 2004, he was a democratic nominee for the presidential election. Sharpton is famous for
being loyal to many things or ideas that he supports; a loyalty that is so strong it can lead him to jail.
Although he is criticized by some who believe he is to blame for a continued racial separation, many
people give him admiration for being a great activist. He knows how to command the attention of
people and to get them to listen to what he has to say, especially on very delicate matters. Because of
his well known credentials, it wasn t hard to see why he was asked to speak. The emotion in Sharpton
s voice while delivering his eulogy showed that he not only cared about Michael as a public icon, but
also as person; he was a dear friend to him. While speaking, he showed a compassion and
understanding to the family of Michael. He made it clear that he was sensitive to their loss and that he
was empathic because their loss was just

  • 4. Similarities Between Buddhism And Buddhism Buddhism, like other world religions, is not one homogeneous grouping of like minded devotees adhering to one school of thought. Just as Christianity has its Catholics and Protestants, and Islam its Sunnis and Shiites, Buddhism is also comprised of various schools and sects. Some scholars separate Buddhist schools into geographical groupings, such as Southern, Eastern and Northern traditions, whereas some prefer to focus on a more tradition specific delineation, such as Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Buddhism (Cousins 1998, p. 370; Buddhism 2015 ). All traditions accept the fundamental Buddhist doctines of Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, anatta (absence of soul) and karma (causation), but differ on other significant aspects. This essay will compare and contrast two Buddhist traditions, the Therevada Buddhism of Sri Lanka, and Mahayana Buddhism of China. Theravada Buddhism can also be characterised as representative of the Southern tradition of Buddhism, whereas Mahayana is of the Eastern tradition. This essay will also address how these particular types of Buddhism developed in their respective countries. Prior to the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka in 247 BCE, the cultural environment was characterised by a mix of indigenous (veddha) and Aryan beliefs, influenced by elements of mainland Indian culture (Perera 2013). It was the Indian Emperor Asoka who sent his son, Mahinda, to introduce Buddhism to the Sri Lankan king (Robinson, Johnson Bhikku 2005, p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Research Paper On Tupac Shakur Tupac Amaru Shakur was a very influential person who overcame many difficulties. Tupac was a rapper of truth that spoke about the things that go on in the Hood and the unjust police. He was treated differently because he was black and was even arrested for jaywalking. After he was arrested he was beaten by the cops who wanted him to learn his place (Joseph 29). This shows how bad Tupac had it because he was African American. Tupac died an early death at 25 because of a brewing rivalry between the East and West Coast rappers. Shakur was a person who would stand up for what he believed in no matter the cost and died fighting for that. He never let anyone win a battle that he was determined to win and always knew what he was fighting for. His mother was the same, as a loyal member of the Black Panther Party, a group that protected all African Americans from police brutality. Tupac was literally born to be a fighter and carried on his mother s legacy. Despite his rough life, Tupac Shakur became one of the most influential rappers of all time. Tupac Shakur was born on June 16th, 1971, with the name Lesane Crooks. His name was switched to Tupac Amaru II almost a year later. He was born in New York and lived primarily in Harlem till he was 13. In 1984 he moved to Baltimore where he lived for four years until he moved to Oakland. • 8. Socioeconomic Status And Academic Achievement Introduction: There are many different factors that affect a student s academic success in the education system. One of the main factors that play a part in a student academic success is where their family lies on the socio economic scale. The components of socioeconomic status income, parent education and parent occupation are each statistically significant predictors of student achievement (Buckingham, Wheldall, Beamnan Whelldan, 2013). Socioeconomic status defines not just the income of an individual but also that educational attainment, financial security, and subjective perceptions of social status and social class (APA, 2017). Socioeconomic Status and Academic Achievement is an important topic to discuss as many of our students in the education system are either on the bottom of the scale or the top and to find accurate resources to help these students succeed academically we have to look at the research regarding socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status affects the human functioning overall psychical and mental health. The research has found that students from families with lower social economic status struggle more than those students who come from a higher social economic status due to the slower development in academic skills as they are focused on so many different skills at one time than those who are from higher socioeconomic status communities. Along with that, school systems in lower socioeconomic status neighborhoods are often under resourced, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The clubhouse was strange, dark, smelled of coffee, and full of smoke there, the people were all so different, but all of them seemed to know some secret code, plus they seemed to talk as if reading bumper stickers. As I kept coming back, I began to feel more comfortable, understand what was going on, and want what these people had. People at these meetings were open, appeared comfortable in their own skins, and had such, dramatic, fascinating stories that were dark, yet somehow uplifting. Since that time, I have been to a plethora of various types of meetings at various locations, but there is a theme throughout of trust, and a bond of acceptance that makes one feel welcome wherever one goes to a meeting. Therefore, I had a plan to go to Allentown with my fiancée to an NA meeting he used to go to on Saturday night, however, as things sometimes happens, this did not go as planned. As well as analyze the movie s message, and how the movie uses myth to deliver that message. The movie Gods of Egypt and the original myths detailing Osiris and Horus s lives are incredibly different. In the tale, Osiris s death occurs a lot differently. In the myth, Set, his brother invites him to a banquet to celebrate the 28th year of his reign. Set has a beautiful chest made of cedar wood inlaid with ebony and ivory that is made precisely to Osiris s measurements, and proposes a contest; that, whoever can fit into the chest perfectly, will have it gifted to them. One by one, seventy two of his secret accomplices attempt to fit into it for show, and not surprisingly none of them fit. Set persuades Osiris into participating in the contest and fits perfectly. Right before he can savour his victory, the accomplices slam down the lid, nail it shut and lap it around with molten lead. The co conspirators then throw him into the Nile to die. • 15. Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness Chinua Achebe s controversial essay published in 1977 focuses on the racist views woven into Joseph Conrad s 1899 novella, Heart of Darkness. Achebe claims that Conrad uses many western stereotypes of Africa and subtly weaves them below the surface of his writing. However, due to the popularity of the novella and the skill of Conrad, his racist views go undetected. The most obvious indicator of Conrad s racist views is the depictions of the people. They are described as savage creatures, yet Conrad s novella is noted for its excellence and not its horrible racist claims. Conrad s novella is full of parallels, such as the River Thames, which is peaceful and calm contrary to the Congo River, which is depicted as being a rough and dangerous place. By creating these parallels Conrad is representing the differences between the European people and the Natives of Congo because he fears the thought of having anything in common with them. Achebe declares that the racist views in the novella come from Conrad s own beliefs but to conceal them he hides behind multiple narrators. Achebe puts forth a compelling article that delves deep into the depths of Heart of Darkness. If you re looking for your dream home, the criteria can be even more personal. Knowing how to make a smart property purchase decision can seem overwhelming, so it s important to understand the basics. What is your personal situation? Identifying the factors that are important to you is a good place to start. Ask yourself what you need the property to achieve for you. Then, see if the property ticks all those important boxes. Knowing whether you need an investment that is cash flow positive, or if you can sustain an investment property that might build some long term capital gain, is a good basis for your decision making. If your plan is to renovate for capital gain, then that off the plan property might not be the right investment for you. Also, before you think about buying in a regional location, look at the industries that are integral to the region and consider how secure those industries are. Still others know that they had family members from another part of the globe who came to America to search for a better life, full of more promising opportunity. Whatever the case, people are drawn to learn more. Starting out to do research on your family tree can seem a bit daunting, if not overwhelming. But there are some simple steps to follow that will get you started. First, start by understanding that most family tree research projects are very long term endeavors. These histories can go back hundreds of years and trace across wide swaths of the globe. • 26. Overview of the WARN Act For so many years, this nation has been creating policies and laws to protect the people and their way of life. One particular law that was passed still creates a lot of confusion on whether this law pertains to them or not. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act is a federal law to protect workers, their families, and society from sudden or unforeseen job losses due to plant closings and massive layoffs. The WARN Act was originally enacted on August 4, 1988, but it evidentially became effective on February 4, 1989 (Department of Labor, 2013). Unlike other laws that are enforced by certain government or federal agencies, the WARN Act in which an employee, their representative, or a government official has the ... The Department of Energy (DOE) concluded there were not enough sufficient benefits being offered to the taxpayers for them to extend the enrichment at the plant (USEC). With the increasing cost of production resulting from power consumption and the decreasing prices in nuclear fuel, the USEC felt that it was in their best interest to begin the process of layoffs in order to continue operations into the next year while trying to manage inventory, meet customer orders, as well as meeting the turnover requirements with the DOE on its lease (USEC, 2013). To prepare themselves, the USEC utilized the provisions of the WARN Act to properly commence with their scheduled layoff while providing proper notice to their employees despite the many years of excellent performance from its workforce. While the act may provide some control of policy, it can cause quite of bit of confusion for certain departments of the government. As discussed previously, the WARN Act provides businesses with a safeguard measure to utilize in the event of a shutdown or mass layoffs, but for the federal government, many questions came about in light of the recent furloughs and shutdowns. The WARN Act states that businesses must provide their employees with proper notice, but the furloughs tested that notion due to being unsure of when exactly the furloughs were going to take place. The average home value of the city of Florence is $151,500 according to the 2014 Census estimates. As noted in earlier statistics, North Florence is a poor area where the majority of households have a low socioeconomic status. The lack of job opportunities in North Florence, a slow housing market in the area are the causes of poverty in the community and creates a disadvantage for some of our students. I have spoken with the principal, Sharon Dixon, on numerous occasions about the effects of this on our students. Many of the students come to the school with a lower vocabulary than students from wealthier parts of Florence. Much of that has to do with the lack of education of the parents. Many hold high school diplomas, but only a few of our parents hold college degrees. The education level of the parent is a factor in the preparation of children for school. A lot of the families also receive government assistance and do not have access to technology or extra learning opportunities. Many parents work multiple jobs or shift jobs and do not always have the time to help their students academically. This puts the children behind before they even begin. By 1996 the company decided to move a branch into China they started with a supercenter and a Sam s club. The business did not take off the way they hoped and planned. The company started to lose money since it opened stores in China. The company thought that the problem was that they had only one store in such a huge market. The fact of the matter was that the Chinese government turned down the company request to expand further in different parts of the country. The government was not convinced that Wal Mart would be successful with all the new competition that was being implemented in other areas. The reviews indicated that the HRA had largely had a positive impact on public service delivery and the enjoyment of human rights. However there are a number of barriers to the HRA s effectiveness: significant misconceptions about the HRA are held by sections of the media, general public and at times public authorities (including by frontline staff in public authorities on when the HRA is not relevant), a need to improve understanding and application of the HRA by public authorities, and a need for better leadership on human rights issues by the government and the Commission. These issues are also linked to the discussion of the process for developing any Bill of Rights in Chapter 4.
