This document discusses a study on the newspaper reading habits of students. It includes an introduction noting the benefits of reading newspapers but that habits are declining among students due to alternatives. • Reading habit helps in improving
comprehension, accuracy, fluency and
increasing vocabulary
• Reading provokes questioning, helps in
generating ideas and inspires them to think
• Reading habit of the students is going down
day by day
• Reading newspaper is such a particular
exercise that not only gives an insight to the
world around, but gives us an inner relief

• 13% of boys read the whole newspaper
• Only 63% of girls claimed to be readers of
newspapers and while 16% read the whole paper
• Those who are reading, are reading more but
there is a growing percentage of boys who are
not reading at all.

well-informed about the affairs of the world.
