2. To edit our piece we used Final Cut Pro which is a video editing
programme. No one in our group really knew how to use it or was
familiar with it so we all had to watch tutorials/research about it a bit just
so we could at least get some basic knowledge on how to use it.We
found the tutorials very useful and I found the Final Cut Pro was more
enjoyable to use when I actually knew what I was doing/knew what I
could do. Also the tutorials made the editing process run a lot smoother
because without them then we would’ve been clueless and it would’ve
taken a lot longer to edit our film.
3. The internet was the piece of convergent technology that we used the
most. It allowed us to access the tutorials that we needed in order to
understand the programmes/technologies that we were using. We also
got our clips for our codes and conventions videos off of YouTube and it
was also had bits of existing media (music/sound effects) that we
needed to include in our final piece. We also needed the internet to
create our focus group on Facebook.
The focus group was created using a mobile phone. Another piece of
convergent technology. Using mobiles was really useful because it
allowed us to contact our focus group whenever we needed to and we
could also communicate with other group members outside of school
easily.
4. To film our piece we used two cameras. One was the Panasonic Lumix DMC-
SZ8EB-K and the Canon 6OOD. Due to the fair amount of close ups that were
featured in our film we found that the Panasonic camera produced better
quality shots that the Canon.
For all of the other shots we used the Canon 6OOD with aTamron Lens.To help
us understand this camera better, as it was the one we used the most we had to
watch a couple of tutorials. We also took tester shots so that we had a chance
to play around with it ourselves and get a feel of the camera so that we would
be prepared when we actually began shooting the film.
