Examples of when audience
feedback directly affected my work
Music Video
When we filmed the text shot at first, we did not film it in the same place as the
current part of the storyline was taking place. My audience feedback told me that
this was a continuity issue as it didn’t look like it was taking place in the same
location. We took this feedback on board and refilmed the shot in an outside space
which gave the shot a similar background to the shot before and look like it was
taking place in the same location as the previous and following shots.
The result of this was a
shot with much better
continuity and it therefore
gave the shot and the
video a more realistic feel.
Music Video
This was the first video clip we used for the
first section of lip synching in the video.
The lip synching had some obvious
mistakes as our performer was not yet
fully confident on the words of the song.
Our audience feedback told us that this
was very noticeable, especially being the
very beginning of the video and the first
performance shot of the video. So we used
this feedback and refilmed the first
performance section which looked a lot
better when edited into our video.
Album Advert
This feedback from a target audience
member allowed me to rethink some of
the decisions I had made about the
layout of album advert, including
social media links on my album advert.
I looked back to my original research
into album adverts and found that it is
not a convention to find social media
links on an album advert and as my
target audience didn't’t like it, I chose
to remove them.
This resulted in space to include different features which are conventions of
existing album adverts such as iTunes and Spotify links, which will attract my
target audience further as it provides them with alternative methods to listen to
the album.
Album Advert
Both of these target audience members
thought that the album title needed to be
bigger, and the first piece of feedback states
that the reflected ‘Clara Mae’ could be
removed, and the space could be used to
make the ‘Fracture’ bigger. Other audience
feedback I received made similar comments
about not liking the reflection of the artists
name and therefore I removed it and could
use the space in a different way. I was also
given a new idea of a pattern overlay for the
album title which I tried and it worked out
really well. I have used the audience
feedback I have received in order to improve
my final product, making it more appealing
to my target audience as they have had a say
in the design and told me what it is that
would make it appeal to them.
Digipak
The layout of the social media
icons was mentioned more than
once while I was collecting
feedback so I was able to try a few
different layouts until I found the
positioning that worked the best.
This feedback enabled me to add
some extra features to the design of
the CD itself to give it a more realistic
look and gave me the idea to add the
copyright information and record
label logos to make it look more
professional and like a real CD.
