2. • I used the colours red, black and white as
the main colours because they are
stereotypical to the genre of rock.
• I also chose to use the colour red for the
masthead as it stands out clearly on the
black background and therefore would
grab the attention of the audience.
• The price of the magazine suits my
audience well and would be appealing as
the questionnaire showed that people
would be willing to pay around £2 - £3. As
mine is £1.50, it would appeal and would
suit my target of a working class
audience.
• I also made sure that the image on my
front cover made direct eye contact with
the audience as this draws in the
attention and makes the reader feel
involved.
3. • I followed my house style again for the
contents page by using the stereotypical
rock colours red, black and white. The
constant colour scheme makes my
magazine look professional and therefore
follows the conventions of a real
magazine.
• The images would attract my audience as
it is a male audience and have used male
models.
• My contents page also contains an
editor’s note which is also a convention
of a real magazine and is written to
include the audience.
• I have also included information that the
audience fed back to me in the
questionnaire about the inclusion of
upcoming gig dates. This would interest
the audience as they can see when their
favourite bands are coming to their area.
4. • My double page spread again follows the colour scheme of my magazine and continues the
professional look. It also contains a page number which is a convention of a real magazine. I also
included a drop cap on my main article which makes my double page spread look professional. The
drop cap is really important as my text is quite small and therefore would not capture the attention of
the audience without it. I also made the questions and introduction of the article a bold font which
helps make the article stand out and therefore grabs attention. I also used the masthead throughout
my magazine to give my magazine instant recognition. The more the audience an see my unique
masthead, the more likely they are going to recognise it on a shop shelf.
