1. Q5: How did you attract your
media product ?
Samuel Ibe-Igwe
2. • Seeing as my Music Magazine specialises in the
genre of Horror, I used impact text and a
mixture of dark toned colours such as red, black,
grey and white which are code and conventions
colours in which a hip-hop magazine so my
audience was able to recognise straight away the
genre of my magazine.
• I also customised the Masthead of my magazine
for what my target audience thought would
appeal to them and make them easily recognise
my magazine logo and furthermore buy my
magazine.
3. • The language used in my magazine is quite
colloquial. However, this follows the code and
conventions of a Hip-Hop magazine they tend to
allow the audience to relate to the different stories
that feature within it.
• The tone of my magazine is more along the lines of
that of R&B or Street music due to the feature of
latest styles and fashions being included in this
particular issue. These coverlines would attract my
audience to buy my magazine, in particular, females,
as they have a greater interest in these topics.
• For the typography in my magazine I used big and
bold font so that my audience is able to read my
magazine coverlines and also the text within my
magazine. I realised that the ‘Impact’ font was the
best font to use and suited the genre and style of my
magazine.
4. • The music artist in which features on the front of
the page is the same age range as my target
audience which is between 16-45 according to
demographics. With this in mind it should
attract these ages to buy and read my magazine
as they will be able to relate and also understand
the younger generational colloquialisms which
feature in my magazine.
• The style of my magazine is continued
throughout the front cover, contents page and
double page spread. This is effective as it makes
my magazine professional and also intrigues the
reader as it doesn’t seem all over the place and
more formal.
