Throughout all the stages ofproduction I useda rangeoftechnologies tohelp mecreatemy work. Most ofthesetechnologies wereused
all on the samedevice such as Photoshop, Blogger, Microsoft Word areall on a computer. Becausetechnology has evolved it has allowed
me to plan, produce anddistributemy productall fromonedevice such as a phoneor tablet. Howeverwe used a range oftechnologyon
different media platforms, most predominantlyfrom a computer.
Pre-production
During my pre-production I researched 9 differentrealmedia texts in order to formmy product research.I used several different
technologies including web 2.0. Formy music video research I used YouTube andVevo so itwould beeasierto analysethevideos. The
conveniences ofthese websites are that they arefreeto useso I was ableto researchinto different musicgenres and styles. However
depending on the video someofthem haveage restrictions on due tolanguageor older themes which is bad especiallyifyour video
contains such language orthemes. ButfortunatelyI didn't come across such problems when choosing musicvideos.Google Images was
another websiteI usedto gettheimages ofthedigipaks and adverts. Googlewas the best one I used becauseithad thelargest rangeof
image for me tochoose fromand seemed to havethelatest ones making iteasier for meto research the new conventions for my
products. The limitations with Googleis someoftheimagewon't be thefull imageor couldbe fanmadeimages as Googleis a large
conglomerateandcome upwith various images for the thing you looked for evenifit doesn't link to it. Another technology I used was
Survey Monkey. I used this to create myquestionnaireand send itoutto peoplefor my market research. The benefitofusing Survey
Monkey is you can send the surveyto peopleon a range ofmedia platforms likeemail orthrough socialmedia such as Facebook and
Twitter. The websiteis also freewhichis a plus howeverits only freeup totenquestions whichmeans thequestions I usehave tobe
specificand to the point so I couldget the information I want. When planning my musicvideo I used Microsoftwordto notedownall the
narrativeof my video. It was very good tousebecauseI couldwritedownall the plans and talk about whatediting todo and whatcamera
shots I neededto get. Word is oneofthemostreliablepieces ofsoftwareand I had nolimitations withusing it. Finally when searching for
lyrics of thesong ofour video I useda websitecalledAzlyrics.com. This websiteI find is very reliableas I used ita lot inmy sparetime.I
think the only disadvantageofthewebsite is its fan made so its someofthe lyrics might beincorrect.
Production
For the creationofour music video weused a Nikon DSLR D3200 camera to filmourfootage. I havehadexperiencein using this
technology last yearwhen making my musicmagazine. I used my skills andknowledgefrom lastyear on camera angles, lighting camera
setting totake pictures for my ancillaries. Filming on this camera was littlemore difficultbecauseI have hadprevious experienceatfilming
from my other lessons buton a different camera, this oneis newandmoretechnologicalbutit wasn't too bad oncewegot goi ng. Using
such evolvedtechnology tofilm meantwewereable tohave higher quality images and footagemaking our video look more professional.
It also makes it easierto transfer onto a computer without having to worry about changing the file typeor formatting it. In additionto this
we also used Spotify; anonlinemusic streaming website. Weused this to film thelip syncscenes so theactress couldsing along to the
music. If we didn't use this themiming ofthelyriccould havegonecompletely wrong andthewords might havenotmatchedup. There's
only one problem withusing Spotify and that's the adverts but ifyouhave an account youdon't get any so fortunately I have anaccount
and we didn't have any problems. AgainI used Wordto note down in my productionplanner about whatI have donethat week and what I
need to do in thenext week.
Post-production
After filming and taking photoshoots I used a range oftechnologies toedit thefootageand images I got. AdobePhotoshop is a
programmeI usedto createmy ancillaries. Last yearI used thesoftwareto makemy music magazineand usedtheskills thatI attainedlast
year to help memakemy digipak andadvert. This year I was ableto expandon my skills anduse themto makemy products.Because of
my skills I was able tocreategraphics suchas a recordlabel logo for my label Sound PurgeRecords andwas ableto createstars for Q's
review of thealbumon my advert. I thinktheproblem withPhotoshop is that it's very advancedand there aresomeediting skills and
styles I don't know howto useyet. For the editing ofmy videoI used AdobePremiere Pro. AgainI have someexperiencefrom lastyear in
another lessonand I usedmy skills to edit thefootage. Theprogramme allowedus to createbasiccuts andapply simpletransitions toour
footage. Muchadvanced settings allowedus tocreatetransparent videos to changethecolourand saturation ofthefootageto give the
music videoan overall emotionaleffect. I think thedisadvantageto PremierePro is thefactthat the footagecanslack if youdon't render
it and willkeep slacking every timeyoumake a new editor add new footage.
Evaluation
For my overall presenting ofmy work I useda websitecalled Blogger. Blogger is an onlineblogging websitewhereI documented allmy
research, productionwork andpost productionwork. The great thing aboutBlogger is thatit's freeand youcan uploadas much as you
like. You canalso createlabels to putdifferent pieceofwork under whichis good for whenI put pieces ofwork onlineso it's easier to find
a particularpieceoneis looking for. TheoneproblemwithBlogger is that youcan uploadwork straightfrom Microsoft Word or
PowerPoint. However weuseda websitecalled SlideSharewhereyoucan uploadthework onthereand embed the documentontothe
blog. SlideShareis oneofthemost reliable technologies I have used andthere's notreallyanydisadvantageto it.
For my actual evaluation I used a range oftechnologies, againI have used Wordto planout my questions. I alsowill beusing software
calledPrezi. It's likePowerPointbut moreadvancedand online. It's really good for presentations. I havehad experiencein using the
softwarelastyear during my evaluation and have used my skills againto present one ofmy evaluation questions. For question three, we
had to createa closed group onthesocial media website Facebook. We did this with goalofgetting feedbackfrom ourtarget audienceso
we can comment onwhat theythoughtofthe product. Facebook was usefulbecauseour main targetaudience areyouths andtend to use
this technologyto contact people. Theproblem withFacebookis that not everyonewillreply straightaway as somepeoplewill not have
the notifications for it. I will alsobe using is Sound Cloud; I willrecordmy voiceon my IPhoneanothertechnology and put iton Sound
Cloud. I used Sound Cloud last year toobut I haven'treally had muchexperiencein using it so tome that is theonly disadvantage because
I won't really knowwhat I'm doing
To concludedigital technologies haveproved usefulthroughoutmy courseworkin allareas ofproduction. It has allowed meto plan,
produce, edit and exhibit my work almost entirely from onedevice. This justhow's howtechnologicalconvergencehas shapedtheway of
the media over recentyears especiallysincetechnologyis constantly evolving.
