A2 MEDIA COURSEWORK EVALUATION QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 – We usedthis software as our primary editingtool. Our Animatic,
Draft and Final music video were all edited on this software. We have developed a great
understanding of how the software works, the more we used it.
Adobe Photoshop – We used Photoshop during our AS Coursework to create a magazine.
From thenI have developedanadvancedknowledge of the software andknow how to use it
quicklyand efficiently.Ihave beenable to add differenteffectsinorderto make my digipak
and magazine advert look authentic and professional.
SonyDSC-HX20V – Thisisthe camerathatIusedforthe photographstakenonmydigipakand
magazine advert,as well as beingthe camera used to filmour musicvideo. It was extremely
easy and quick to use as I have had it for 3-4 year and used it very often, so I was very
comfortable using it.
Tripod – We lent this tripod out three times over the project from our school library that
provided it to us. We used it heavily during filming our music video (both narrative and
performance halves).
Lighting- For this we couldn’t use typical lightboxes and therefore we had to make do with
using sources of light like Desk Lamps, Portable Lights and Torches. We filtered strong
amounts of light by covering the source with pieces of paper.
FacebookMessenger– Thiswas a the most essentialwayinwhichourgroupcommunicated.
We couldusthisplatformtoinstantlychat,sendpicturesandvideostodiscuss workwitheach
other. In addition, we also used this platform to organise events such as filming days. Once
we chose our band members and actors, we could easily add them to the group chat to let
themknowwhattheyneededtodoandwhenweweredoingthem.FacebookMessengerwas
super effective for us are it is all connected directly from Facebook.
iPhone - Our entire groupusediPhonesforthisproject. The device wasanothervital piece of
technology which allowed us to complete a number of various tasks. The phone was used
mainlytocommunicate withothergroupmembersviaphone call, text,FacebookMessenger,
Twitter,Snapchatand email aswell as uploadpostson blogger, accessfilesviaGoogle Drive,
researchon a webbrowserandusingthe YouTube app. Inaddition,we alsousedourphones
to play our song during filming and purchase props and book the studio for filming days.
Havingthe abilitytocomplete all these tasksfrom our mobile phoneswasextremelyhelpful
and effective. Without this technology, our project would have taken significantly longer.
Google Mail and Hotmail – We usedemail serviceslike thesetocontact studiostoarrange a
booking as well as communicate and send files to other group members.
Twitter – This social media platform was usedas a way of communication with other group
memberstodiscussourprojectaswell asourmediateacherstogainextrainformationabout
the task due. Additionally, our media teachers also provided support when we were
struggling.
Snapchat – Thisplatformwasusedtocommunicate withothergroupmembersaswell assend
video of different shots to each other quickly for previews.
Google Drive – This cloudstorage platformallowedusto back up filessothat I could access
themanywhere. Also,we usedGoogle Driveasa wayto uploadour animaticand draftmusic
video. It was quick and easy to upload and embed onto our blog.

Western Digital My Passport HDD 1TB – We used an External Hard Drive during our project
to save andback up work.Thisallowed me totake workbackhome toreview shotsaswell as
do further work on Photoshop for my digipak and magazine advertisements.
Blogger– Thissite iswhere all of ourgroupsworkwasuploaded. We have agroupblogwhich
all four of our group members can create posts to show research, planning, updates,
evaluations, feedback and final pieces of work.
Animoto– We usedthiswebsitetocreate our 25-wordpitch. Itwasapiece of online software
that allowedusto make a pitch that wasquick andrequiredminimal editingonour part. We
simply hadtouploadimages, musicandtype intext. We chose thissoftware anditmade the
pitchentertainingtothe classand teachersviewingitratherthat simplylisting25 words and
talking about them.
YouTube – YouTube wasa site we usedregularlytoresearchall variouskindsof musicvideos
to offer us with inspiration and ideas, as well as an understanding of how shots should be
filmed. In addition, we used YouTube as a tool that offered us with tutorials on how to do
certaintask on our editingsoftware (Premiere ProCS6), as we were novicesto the software.
We also uploaded our final video on YouTube. I have been using YouTube for an extremely
long time and have a great understanding of all its features and therefore I was extremely
comfortable using it for both research and uploading.
Google Chrome and Internet Explorer – Theses’ were the two browsers which we used
throughout our project. They were a vital component for our project to do the majority of
tasks we have completed. We needed the device to complete research, look up tutorials,
upload work and more. Without using an internet browser, our work would have taken
significantly longer.
PowerPoint – I used this software to create my music video analysis. I have had much
experience with the software and therefore it was quick and easy to use.
SlideShare – For some piecesof work we embeddedWordand PowerPointdocumentsonto
our blog using SlideShare. This site allowed us to upload our work onto the site and then
embed the uploaded document straight to blogger.
Scribd - SimilarlytoSlideShare,thissiteallowedustouploadourworkontothe site andthen
embed the uploaded document straight to blogger.
Spotify– We usedSpotifyasa tool at the beginningof ourprojectto pickour song choice. In
addition, I saved the song (The Hunter by Slaves) onto my phone using my SpotifyPremium
Account and used it to blast it on to the studio speakers when filming performance shots.
Ebay - Ebay is an auctioningsite thatwe usedto purchase the mask forthe hunter. The site
allowed us to find items which would wouldn’t be able buy locally and therefore was very
helpful.
Amazon – We alsousedonline shoppingsite Amazontobrowse fordifferentprops, similarly
to how we used Ebay.
Google Forms– I usedthisonline software tocreate feedbackquestionnaire.Once created,I
could embed them onto my blog for people to complete, giving me feedback on my work.
