The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Evaluation Question 4
1. Patrick spencer
HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH,
PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?
Evaluation Question 4:
2. Tumblr
Tumblr is a microblogging social networking platform which people can use to
upload short blog entries, and multimedia content. Tumblr is the home for all of
my media coursework. It is where my blog is located, which is what I use to upload
all research into the music video industry and theories, planning for my music
video, and evaluation of my work. It was a very useful tool as you can easily gain
feedback on your work from other people who are interested or within the
industry that you are researching, which allows you to improve sections of work.
The layout of Tumblr is very useful, as it allows you to easily scroll through
someone’s work from most recent, to their first post. This means you can see how
this person has improved over the year.
3. Tumblr
Tumblr makes it very easy for you to embed files photos and videos to your blog
entries. It allows you to embed links from websites such as YouTube, SlideShare
and Prezi. This means I could upload work that I have uploaded to other platforms
prior to Tumblr, allowing me to keep all of my coursework in one place. This also
means you can upload word and PowerPoint documents to Tumblr without having
to reformat them, as I can upload them to SlideShare and post the link on Tumblr.
4. DSLR Camera
We used a Nikon D32000 to shoot all of our music video. We used this camera as
it is a high quality, lightweight and ergonomic camera, making is easy and
comfortable to use for long periods of time.
It can also shoot in full 1080p video. When filming in 1920 x 1080, you can only
film at 29.97fps, so if you want smooth slow motion shots you have to downsize to
1280 x 720 which allows you to shoot in 59.94fps. This lowers the quality but
allows you to slow the shot down to .5 speed on post production, creating smooth
slow motion.
5. DSLR Camera
We used two different lenses on the camera, the first the default lens which comes
with the camera with a 18-55mm zoom, the second being a 35mm lens, with 1-1.8
aperture allowing us to blur the background and surroundings of a shot, and only
have the focus point in focus.
This lens allows us to vary our shots, and get some great close ups we would not
be able to get with a standard lens.
We had one problem with the cameras, which was the battery life. We found that
when filming in full HD, the battery's only lasted for a few hours. To combat this
we just brought two more fully charged batteries.
6. Adobe Premiere Pro + After Effects
Adobe Premiere Pro is a professional editing software used for editing video. We
were extremely lucky to be able to use this software as it is used by many
professional video editors. Premiere Pro has many different tools, which allow for
different impacts on the footage, including cut, speeding up and slowing down
shots.
Premiere Pro was used to edit all of our music video, and we loved using it. Every
time you use this, you become more experienced, and the more experienced you
are you want to create more complex edits, which Premiere Pro allows you to do.
For example, as we were more experienced with this editing software we used
slow motion and colour correction to make a more professional music video.
7. Adobe Premiere Pro + After Effects
We didn’t just use it for our final music video, we also used it to edit our focus
groups, and our animatic.
Although it is a great software, there are a few issues with it. The program crashed
on multiple occasions, which was an annoyance but wasn’t a massive problem as it
auto saved our work every few minutes.
We used after effects with Premiere Pro to stabilize some shots that were shaky.
We would select the video sequence we wanted to stabilize on Premiere Pro, and
open it in After Effects and stabilize it, which would then replace the shaky
sequence in Premiere Pro with the stabilized version.
8. Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop is a software by Adobe which is used to edit images and short videos /
GIFs. I have had lots of experience with Photoshop and have been using it for
about 5 years, so I know exactly what I'm doing on it.
We used Photoshop to create a simple title for the very start of our music video.
We simply wrote the title and artist on a 1920 x 1080 canvas, photoshop, and
created a transparent background. We then saved this as with the PNG format,
which does not compress the image so it will be as high quality as possible, then
placed that image file into Premiere Pro over the first shot, which overlaid the text
over the shot.
I also used Photoshop to create both my Digipak and Advert poster, which I did at
home as I have Photoshop on my personal computer.
9. Prezi & SlideShare
Prezi is recently released, and allows you to create an online presentation and
share them online. The presentations are more astatically pleasing than a normal
presentation, as Prezi provide many interactive templates. You can also embed
YouTube videos into your presentations. At first it can seem very complicated, and
I had difficulties adding slides and formatting the text boxes how I wanted them,
however when you get used to it it’s easy.
SlideShare is different to Prezi as it is not used to create content, it is used to share
content. You can upload content like PowerPoints and word documents and it will
create a link to where someone can view the documents. It is useful as you can
upload work to it and put the link on Tumblr. I used this for a lot of my work,
whenever I did work on Word or PowerPoint I used SlideShare to put the work on
my Tumblr.
10. Mobile Phones
Because of the rise of mobile devices, phones are on us pretty much all the time,
so they were used for a lot of our work. I used it in many different ways, the first is
for blog entries. I downloaded the Tumblr app, which allowed me to upload to my
blog from my phone, which was great for when I didn’t have a computer nearby.
This is much harder than doing it on a computer, however it can be used if you
need to.
I also used my phone during the production of our music video. We would play
the song on our phones so the actor could lip sync to the song perfectly in time,
as he could sing along to the music. This allowed us to get much better shots of
lip syncing.
11. YouTube
YouTube was used a lot in the making of making a music video. It was used in
planning to upload our focus group and animatic, and also it was used in
production to upload our music video. It is a great tool, and even allowed us to
gain feedback on our work as people would comment on the videos.
The only setback was the time it took to process and upload a video. It took over
an hour to upload a short music video.
It was also used when researching, as I would watch music videos uploaded to
YouTube and analyse them.
12. Google
Google was used for every stage in creating our music video. Google is a search
engine, so it is used to search for anything on the internet. This means it was used
to access sites like Prezi and SlideShare and YouTube, and also used t gather
images I have used in multiple pieces of work.
There were no problems with google, the only problem we would run into is when
we could not access it, which is not the fault of Google as it would be because of a
bad internet connection.
13. Free Online Surveys
FreeOnlineSurveys was used to create our survey for out target audience. It was
incredibly useful, however it does have faults. It allowed us to create questions,
and would then create tables and graphs for the information after results are
gathered, however without paying there is no way to get the results onto a
document. We got around this by screenshotting the graphs and results and
pasting them onto a powerpoint.
