Q deconstruction
- 1. Logo. Familiar recognisable image or construction of shapes and colours placed on every issue of the magazine. Colour scheme in place to attract audience. Red, Black and Blue. Other colures are used such as white but these seem to be the main three. Red and Black are quite dominating and powerful colours with the contrast of the blue which seems to lightly welcome the eye into the image, keeping it quite laid back and relaxing with seriousness. Unusual masthead. Still placed at the top however in a square. The colure scheme of the Red is very powerful and a strong dominating colour. Eclectic mix of featured bands, no pictures included but appropriate fonts and colours to mix up the look and stand out different bands. OASIS ect are all in there signature fonts and those that are important (popular) to the recommended target audience are highlighted with Blue arrows. Strap line. Is important just like the Mast head to stay the same on every issue of the magazine to the target audience and already loyal costumers can recognise the magazine from a first glance. Sweet spot. Links on to the head line encouraging the audience to want to find out more on the story. That is also encouraged by the “ … “ Surge sting that there is more information inside. Central image. LS. VERY SLIGHTLY a low angled shot. Although the main subject is looking directly at the camera her positioning and the camera positioning brings her eye line down also making her legs appear longer and more appealing as a selling point. This is also encouraged with the seductive pose and naked upper body. Her chosen outfit specifically fits with the colour scheme and no shadows are created. It’s a very positive shot. Buzz word. “SEXY BEAST” is referenced to Lilly Allen and also to the panthers surrounding her. Symbolism to show the theme of story line will be covered and also maybe suggesting the type of music also covered within. The words could be considered buzz words because they are popular words which would draw attention to themselves. Price, bar code, issue number and date. Important to include on front cover for customer information. However the word “beast” from above could be used to describe the panthers well as Lilly. Quite a harsh/ seductive word. Puff. This is included to attract the eye to special or vital information which may be within the magazine or something such as a cover mount. This encourages the audience to purchase the magazine. More information on articles within the magazine to give a slight insight.
