Publication plan for my magazine
1. Publication Plan for my magazine
Title - The title of my music magazine will be called ‘Indie Paradise’ I have decided
on this name for my music magazine because I feel that it fits in with the theme and
feel of my magazine. Also the meaning of this word is different to different people, so
people can have their own opinion on why the music magazine is called this.
Positioning statement - My positioning statement will be ’Charlie the upcoming Indie
Star’
This will really attract the reader after seeing the bold title because this positioning
statement will be placed right under the main headline of my music magazine.
Frequency of magazine - In my questionnaire many people said that they read music
magazines every week (60% of people asked) I have decided to publish my
magazine once every week. This is a reasonable time scale as I will be able to
include the information what has happened within that week and I will have enough
information to cover the pages and give readers the latest and update information.
Price - In my questionnaire most people selected that they would expect to pay
around £3-£5 for a music magazine. I have decided to price my magazine at £3.50,
this is because I feel like this price is reasonable and affordable price for readers to
pay each week. They will be paying for content within the magazine and the quality. I
believe that my target audience will agree that this is a reasonable price for my
music magazine.
Style - In my questionnaire many people selected Indie as this style/genre of music. I
have decided to base my magazine off of indie based bands, artists and information.
I feel that this is a good idea as many people are familiar with the indie genre of
music, and it is a popular with older and younger generations. My target audience
will be around 13-18 year olds, I feel this is a good target audience as the younger
generation are the most interested in Indie music nowadays.
Regular content - In my questionnaire most people agreed with frequent content
such as 'This Week' and update information about the music industry. I will aim to
include regular content such as sections including 'This Week', 'Upcoming events'
and information about current and upcoming artists and bands. Each week there will
be regular content inside but replacing old content with new fresh and updated
information.
Album and gig reviews
Exclusive Interviews
Upcoming Bands
News (Updated news about the music industry)
Posters (Freebies & more...)
Feature content - The featured content within my magazine will be based upon that
week’s artist or band focus. My magazine will cover information about each artist or
band mentions and will usually take up a double page spread of information so
readers get a good amount of update news.
2. Upcoming Festivals
Guide to ‘surviving’ at a festival
Upcoming Albums / Singles
Best selling albums / Where to buy them
Information about music artists (Background/ Image/ Clothing)
Cover line - My cover lines will follow the same style and they will change size
depending on how big the article is. ‘Charlie the upcoming Indie Star’
Colour scheme front cover - In my questionnaire most people voted for a variety of
different colours. As I will be issuing my music magazine once a week I will attempt
to vary the range of colour schemes within my magazine. It is important that the
colours used on my magazine can reflect the themes, genre, ideas and target
audience my magazine will be aimed at. I feel that it is also important to match the
colour scheme front cover to the rest of my magazine. I will aim to use a variety of
different colours but I feel that bold and vibrant colours are the best to draw attention
to any magazine. Red, White and Black (Main colours for my magazine)
